Hangin’ with the ‘bats; Update: Anarchists wimp out

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 24, 2008 02:16 PM

Your Sunday afternoon comic relief:

Hot Air special correspondent Jason Mattera rubs unwashed elbows with the moonbats in Denver.

Favorite line: “Deadly? How deadly? Like abortion deadly?”

***

Meanwhile, the anarchists wimp out. Recreate ‘68? Never mind:

A large crowd of war protesters are now marching to the Pepsi Center, site of the Democratic National Convention, which starts tomorrow.

Organized by Recreate 68 and other protest groups, the march leaders decided not to not disrupt an event at Civic Center, across the street from the state Capitol, as they had pledged. That event, featuring merchants selling wares from booths, is sponsored by the Denver committee hosting the convention.

Recreate 68 said months ago it would occupy Civic Center in violation of the host committee permit.

Recreate 68’s Larry Hales says early threats to take Civic Center were meant to start a dialogue.

Glenn Spagnuolo, a Recreate 68 leader, said they had worked it out with police to use Colfax and

The lefties’ big triumph? Yelling at a Fox News crew:

At one point, demonstrators confronted a Fox News camera crew, screaming that Fox is biased in its news coverage. Amid chants of “Fox has got to go”, and “Fox, go home,” state state troopers moved in and separated the most vocal protesters from the camera crew.

Revolution!

St. Cindy Sheehan (who?) also made an appearance, along with other moldy oldies:

Recreate 68 co-founder protester Mark Cohen called presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama part of an imperialist system.

Ron Kovic, the anti-war activist whose paralyzing injuries in Vietnam were chronicled in his book “Born on the Fourth of July,” told the crowd, “We refuse to be silent …. we are going to speak our minds. The whole world is watching.”

And yawning.

Man arrested in Denver hotel on weapons charges

Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley said 29-year-old Joseph Calanchini of Pinedale, Wyo., faces a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon after police officers at the Grand Hyatt hotel noticed him carrying a rifle-type case while checking in. Calanchini did not have a concealed weapons permit, said Lance Clem, spokesman for the Colorado Department of Public Safety.

Authorities were investigating a report that Calanchini was in town on business and had had the weapons worked upon, including mounting of site scopes, to prepare for an upcoming hunting trip.

Calanchini remained at Denver City Jail today on $10,000 bond, said Denver Sheriff’s Deputy Danny Steckman.

    ….

San Fran Nan was at that hotel.

Elk season is coming, these Secret Service people need to get a clue – this isnt Philly, we own and carry rifles here routinely in the west.

Furthermore it was a cased long gun, as per law for transporting a rilfe. So they popped him for a CONCEALED weapon? What’s he suppsoed to do, walk around with it over his shoulder?

It is NOT illegal to carry a cased long gun in public areas in Colorado. As a matter of fact, its common in some areas as people come into Denver hotels from out of town for hunting trips.

They messed up big time trumping up these charges. Illegal concealed carry — of a rifle cased per state law for transport.

Gun organizations are going to have a field day with this one.

Glad I dont live in Denver – they will be paying some serious damages out from such an egregiously wrong arrest.

Oooohhhhh…so basically, these were and had always been nothing ore than empty threats. It seems to me, that there is a law against making “Terrorist Threats”, and though I am not an attorney, I would imagine that threatening to overtake an occupied building and to do so by force is, in fact, a “Terrorist Threat”.

Why on earth, after this hippie freak decided to go out on a limb and actually admit that what he did was, in fact, to threaten to overtake this building, is the US Department of Justice not taking action against every single one of these “Fail to Recreate 68″ TERRORISTS? I mean, having a protest is one thing, but to actively seek out violence and threaten it on the general populace as well as a specific group should never go unpunished. It is well beyond First Ammendment rights, and one can only imagine how many people not only went ot work today fearing for their lives and property, but how many stayed away as a direct result of their words and deeds.

Again, I beseech you, if you are able, to watch last week’s episode of “Penn and Teller’s Bulls**t” and see just what they are truly like at their “Planning Pot Luck”, and see Penn and Teller’s new wording for A.N.S.W.E.R.

The only ticket that has a hope of uniting the Democrat[ic Socialist] Party is Clinton/Obama.

As things stand, if they nominate Obama/Biden, then McCain will drift even farther left as he tries to court the Hillary supporters.

If McCain picks anyone other than a consistently strong Pro-life VP, he will be once again giving the finger to conservatives, effectively telling us that we have nowhere else to go.

    He’s wrong.

With a fractured Democrat Party, and with McCain doing his best to fracture the Republican Party, the perfect storm is brewing for either McCain to lose the nomination to a real conservative, or for conservatives to revolt and elect a third party candidate.

I refuse to let John McCain throw me under the bus like he did Bill Cunningham. McCain deliberately set him up and then ran him over.

We are being set up by John McCain.

I cannot vote for a McCain/Romney ticket, and it is not because Romney is a Mormon. It is because I cannot vote for a ticket with not one but two candidates who gave conservatives the finger by not showing up to the Values Voter Debate. It is because Romney supported pro-choice when it was politically expedient, and cannot be trusted to be pro-life now.

Romney also provided cover for McCain by dropping out on February 7th so that McCain didn’t have to follow-through with the February 28 CNN debate or the March 3 replacement debate, set up by the Values Voter Coalition.

Romney’s father was part of the “echo” crowd in the early sixties. Romney’s father ran for President in 1968 even though he was not constitutionally eligible (he was born in Mexico).

    No Back Room Deals!

We want a choice, not an echo!

That’s irrelevant. If she can win the nomination and has the dirt necessary to sink McCain with a revelation of a scandal (sex or money), then Hillary wins her third term and all of the money she had to spend to get there was worth it. She’d get it all back and more, and start getting her vengence on the people on this list.

Oh….My….GOD!!!! Every time I think that Liberals could not get and stupider, lamer, more ridiculous, I am shown something like this and am left completely shocked and flabbergasted.

What really astounds me is that these idiots ARE ADULTS!!!! I mean, elementary age children…no…kindergarten children are not this stupid. While reading the article linked above, I didn’t know if I should be laughing at the stupidity, or weeping for our country for allowing people like this to graduate out of pre-school.

    Here are my favorites:

“Join us as we encircle the Denver Mint…and use our collective power to raise the Mint building in the air and shake the money out of it for the people.”

That’s right…not just lift the entire building, shake it like a piggy bank to get every last dime out. Now, I notice they did not say they would be upturning it so as to properly get the money out…like a piggy bank. I guess they will just have to hope for the best.

“We’re going to have a couple thousand people surround this entire building, and they’re going to be bringing all their magic, all their energy and everything that they have with them, and the idea is we’re going to raise this building up in the air with a little bit of singing, a little bit of dancing,”

So will they be wearing their Gryffindor robes while using all their magic? Are there really that many people that have magic in which to fritter away on building levitation? Will there be construction companies there to study the new way of lifting and moving buildings using dancing and singing rather than cranes, jacks and heavy equipment? And what about this, “everything they have with them” statement? What exactly are these people bringing that could be used to lift a building? Does Patchouli oil really work? I mean, the scent is strong and disgusting, but strong enough to lift AND shake a building?

“The way we look at it, there is so much disparity between the rich and the poor right now that we want to take some of that money out of the hands of the greedy. And what better place than the Denver Mint?”

Did anyone bother to tell these “rocket scientists” that this is the place where money is made…not stored? It is not a bank. Were they to take the money out of the mint, or better yet, make more money simply to pay the “poor”, what they would be doing is the exact OPPOSITE of what they have planned. They would be increasing inflation and making the dollar worthless, increasing the “disparity between rich and poor”. They obviously do not have even the most basic understanding of finances or of economics.

Forget that this was tried with the Pentagon years before and that it failed miserably, they go on to say they are also doing this as a tribute to members of The Chicago Seven. And why?

“And this is kind of our ode to them, and also our respect to the poor communities here, ’cause poverty is a killer. And we think this is a good way to bring some attention to that issue.”

Are they really that dense? Do they really think that people are not aware of the poor and the poor issue?

I guess since they are incredibly stupid, uninformed and such, they just naturally assume the rest of the world is too.

But seriously, these idiots are acting worse than spoiled pre-schoolers, except that pre-schoolers have an excuse. These guys should all be ashamed of themselves and for the embarrassment they cause their families. thank God my children, much younger than these morons, have a much higher IQ and a better grasp of Common Sense.

Just freaking unbelievable. Just remember, it is the Republicans and Conservatives who have created “Another Vietnam”, right?

This third party idea will take eons if it ever gets to a level to be taken seriously. We conservatives need to take back the party that once held our values, instead of creating a 3rd party that would have ZERO support from either side of the isle.
