Daddy Yankee endorsement: Another pathetic McCain pander
Can someone, anyone, in the McCain camp stop him from self-immolation? Can the open-borders GOP establishment drive a bigger wedge between the conservative base and the GOP ticket?
Last week, it was the RNC ad touting McCain’s shamnesty superiority over Obama. Today, it’s McCain goofily, stupidly, standing with Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee for the all-important reggaeton vote while teenagers squealed. Celeb-u-pocrisy, anyone? The singer, whose real name is Ramon Ayala, singled out McCain’s sponsorship of the shamnesty bill as the reason for his endorsement:
“He’s been a fighter for the Hispanic community and I know that, me personally, I’m choosing the best candidate, because he’s been a fighter for the immigration issues,” Ayala said. “So, for me, he’s the best guy to lead this nation.”
Desperately seeking a coolness boost, McCain lapped it up:
“I just wanna say thank you, Daddy Yankee,” McCain said.
At the urging of McCain, Daddy Yankee hugged and kissed many of the girls on the cheek and shook hands with the guys. Meanwhile, McCain, holding the microphone, had a huge grin on his face.
Later, Daddy Yankee took off his sunglasses while the Central High choir sang the Star-Spangled Banner. Daddy Yankee is known for the song “Gasolina,” which falls under the genre “reggaeton,” a blend of hip-hop, dance music and reggae.
Many in the press corps joked about the intersection of the song (with its lyrics, when translated into English, are: “She likes gasoline,” he says. “Give me more gasoline!” a woman responds) and McCain’s energy policy. In fact, Washington Wire is told the phrase has nothing to do with the traditional meaning of gasoline.
Daddy Yankee accompanied McCain on the plane from Phoenix to Sacramento. He talked to reporters briefly on the plane before taking off, saying that he first met the Arizona senator at a Time magazine party a few years back. McCain aide Brooke Buchanan said “Gasolina” was McCain’s “favorite.”
Daddy Yankee has been an outspoken critic of immigration enforcement:
Daddy Yankee, the Puerto Rican pop star, apparently does: When he performed with Snoop Dogg last month, in front of 18,000 fans in Los Angeles, he wore onstage his “Alto a la HR4437″ T-shirt (Stop House Resolution 4437), the bill that would make it criminal to help illegal immigrants, make it a felony (rather than a civil infraction) for them to be here and add more walls along the Mexican-American border.
How do you say “gag” in Spanish?
***
Hint to McCain camp: How about paying a little more attention to the Daniella Bolognas of the world and a little less attention to obscure reggaeton singers?

Pitch fork and torch time .. time for us to take back this country from the people who are intent on destroying it.
And Michelle was wondering what Juan Hernandez was up to!
McAmnesty is only in it for McAmnesty. He doesn’t care about me or my America.
We need anothere Boston Tea party.
Would McCamnesty’s Z visa catch this guy?
McCain’s favorite Daddy Yankee song is Gasolina? Oh, that’s great. Wonderful. Did anyone think to clue him in that “gasolina” is Puerto Rican slang for, um, sperm? That’s what the entire song is about.
Daddy Yankee has also recorded with and performed live with Akon and uses the N word in almost all of his songs.
This.Is.So.Stupid.
I thought it was Dems who want to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Snoop Dogg? every day now McCan-o-paint does some unbelievably stupid things, this campaign should be a walk in the park for him and he’s (insert very nasty word here) it up.
Please remind me, why was I going to vote for McCain again?
Never heard of the “artist”
OOPS. I did NOT vote for McCain in the primaries.
were so screwed 08′
that’s how.
Question: Why does a Puerto Rican singer give a damn about the Shamnesty bill? All Puerto Ricans are born American citizens. Shamnesty shouldn’t matter because McCain lost his fight to Ram it down everybody’s throat.
McCain must have nightmare’s about getting the support (i.e. votes) of the base. Granted, plenty of Republican politicians have been indifferent to the base, starting with Nixon in ‘60, but I can’t think of one who has such an aversion to it. It was like that snooty girl in high school who thought you were a creep and had cooties and would never go out with you, no matter how nice you were to her. Maybe it is time to just give up, pack up our cooties, and go home.
I have my ideas why McCain is that way, but I would be interested in hearing from others. What is it with this guy?
I doubt daddy yankee will get much support now from the Univision network now that he endorsed McCain.
Yeah Juan McCain add more Gasolina to the fire, you fool. All you just did is drive away more true conservatives and still won’t get more Hispanic vote by this clown endorsing you.
And the McCain camp wants to excoriate Madonna for not being “classy” ?
Jeesh.
Uhhh…Michelle…just a little hint here: Puerto Rico ain’t Mexico!
Once again, I’m disappointed that you feel the need to slam McCain for a stand you (and, admittedly, I) don’t like while Osama Obama and his new partner-in-corruption represent a much greater threat to our nation in every way.
Don’t remember much indignation from you about the Ramos/Compean debacle, either.
Get real, Michelle. We don’t need a conservative Maureen Dowd.
You can’t be serious.
OMG. That’s what I thought, but was afraid I was just being pervy. OMG.
JohnnyMac, “You so naaaasty Papi!!!” What a pimp.
Hey Mr, take a chilll pill! The point is that he is a Puerto Rican artist favoring open borders and pandering to La Raza crowd.
I don’t want Obama to win either but hoping that McCain would quit pandering to this crowd. He needs to get back on the right side of the aisle.
mookie said:
Agreed. There’s no upside, there’s always downside in sleaze culture, and McCain’s camp doesn’t even know what this kid says or stands for in his lyrics.
It seems both candidates are in a race to lose. I wish it were possible for both to lose.
And we are headed for another civil war. It’s only a matter of a short time.
Time for the McCainiacs to show up and skewer Michelle and anyone else who won’t jump over the cliff with them.
Very serious, Mookie.
Just did a site search and found three whole entries listed, none of which related to Ramos and Compean directly.
Heck, MM snarks at “Juan McShamnesty” more often than that on a daily basis.
I’m not saying McCain shouldn’t be criticized when he brings up any open-borders garbage. We fought it before, and will fight it again.
But there is such a thing as priorities, and the bigger dangers lie on the Osama Obama/Biden side.
Never heard of him either. I don’t listen to (c)rap.
It is time for us to get behind and support an independent ticket. I do not know which America to fear more one lead by McCain or by Obama??!!
Performing with Snoop dogg should have raised a few eyebrows with his advisors, that scumbag was arrested here in the valley not long ago on gun and dope charges.
Does “Daddy Yankee” realize that, as a Puerto Rican man, he is a citizen of the United States? He seems to have chosen an issue that has little in the way of personal value to him.
Hmmm, let’s see. Just last Monday all the commenters on this blog were saying McCain did great job at the Saddleback debate and how Obama was horrible.
Now McCain is horrible…or AS horrible as Obama?
Give me a break. Do I agree with McCain on his illegal immigration stance? Heck no.
Am I going to vote for him for President of the US? Heck yeah!!
He is still 150 times better than Obama and his wife. Having them take over this country will be the WORST thing that can happen to all of us.
Michelle Malkin can stay home on election day and feel good about herself, but to me this election is too important to vote on just one issue.
Between McCain and Obama….I have to vote for McCain. Simple as that.
Freakin’ basuda man.
McCain must have thought “Daddy Yankee” was George Steinbrenner.
How can his people let him hang with this cRapper???
color me pissed off. or should it be Dissed off?
Back – August 2007 – I started blogging and I started reading blogs…
One of my statements was “… I will never again vote for the lesser of two evils…it’s the slippery slide to socialism…”
Now I shorten to :
A VOTE for the L_O_T_E_is a vote for the SLIPPERY SLOPE…
Vote the issues…support men and women of HONOR… so we have real Constitutionalists for the near future…
Yeah, but he’s trying his damndest to screw the pooch here…. good grief.
supersean – That’s what we need to do, but as much as it’s been suggested (for months now), the people who are glued to the 2-party system won’t do it. They’re in the boiling pot like the proverbial frog and won’t jump out.
I’m going to write-in a candidate, that way they’ll at least recognize the reason for a no vote for McCain was he isn’t conservative (read Dem Socialist/Insane).
Juan McAmnesty <—- Clicky
Seems appropriate to post this again for this thread.
Oh jeez, at least he finally got something in return for all his pandering. It’s a celebrity endorsement that makes him look less like an old coot. I think the country will survive.
Also, I’ve never read anywhere that Michelle Malkin intends to stay home on election day or withhold her vote for McCain. But one thing I know for certain, she’s a woman of honor and integrity and proves it everytime she refuses to be a hypocrite.
All the McCainiacs here that blast her and others for noticing the obvious and refusing to be hypocrites and act like the Ds, couldn’t be trusted for anything. If you think the Ds here don’t notice your hypocrisy, you’re kidding yourselves. You have lost the right to point out their hypocricy because of your own.
Michelle is fair, even-handed and has more honor in her little pinky than all you McCainiacs put together.
Intil SHE says what she’s going to do in the voting booth, you have no right to ASSUME.
Daddy Yankee endorsing McCain is a great attention-getter for the Latino community. He is one of the biggest artists. And it will get the word out among young Latinos in the USA.
I am not for amnesty at all. We have laws in the USA and it should be obeyed by everyone.
Latinos are reluctant to vote for republicans because some, not all, of us are a bit harsh and not open to speak with them about immigration. The other side as well. But at least McCain is speaking with them and making the effort.
Also, Daddy Yankee maybe a reggeaton artist, but he is a great father, never cheated on his wife, and he is a sponsor for St. Jude.
Walls keep people out AND in. Will someone please wake up to the realities of the border-control madness.
You’re just going to have to get over that. She probably would have been a lousy date anyway.
The “grumpy old man” continues to seek the adulation of anyone, but the conservative base. The Maverick just can’t help poking law abiding Americans in the eye with all this Hispandering.
We really are screwed in 08! Keep it up Juan every time I think about taking one for the team you drive me back to my “none of the above” write in vote.
Just when I think I can stomach McCain, he ups the ante and makes me hate him all over again.
I think 99.9% of us are disappointed and disillusioned, even though not surprised, by McCain. Unfortunately and inexplicably, he is all we got. You do NOT want Obama as POTUS.
Yeah, it may get him a whole 3-4 votes in the Hispanic community.
No, I think we’re open enough about how we feel about illegal immigration. A lot of them just don’t like it. The ones who confuse and blur the issue are those like you (and latinos) who make no distinction between legal and illegal.
I am a little bit more than just “disappointed and disillusioned” about the fact that the “best alternative” for POTUS wants to hand our sovereignty to Mexico.
You shouldn’t have to fight your Government to get it to be self-preserving.
jencab… what planet are you from?? Mr Ayala is a prime advocate of the “thug life” and exploitation of women.
and BTW our “moral leader” McCain has admitted in his divorce proceedings to cheating on his wife.
Yes, I’m sure they can. And will.
That power hungry Washington insider keeps reinforcing my decision not to vote for him no matter what. There is no doubt in my mind; the guy is a closet democrap.
In retrospect, McCain was immolated by the shameless hard right in 2004. Much of what they threw at Kerry will stick to McCain.
They called Kerry a gigolo for marrying a wealthy woman. They belittled his service in Vietnam. Omamanites can just replay the tapes of Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, etc., and repost some of the blog entries from this site, townhall, etc.
Hey… I thought he said he learned his lesson on border security. You mean, I can’t believe what he said? /sarc off
What is a Omamanite? Sounds unpleasant.
So go vote for Obama if you feel so negative about McCain. You might as well because this type of post will do to McCain exactly what it did to the Republican majority in Congress and how is that working out for you?
They are like the Amish, except they can use appliances.
And in case you haven’t notice, illegal immigration is way down on the list of voter concerns this election. I think it tops the list only in Arizona, and I doubt you are going to sway them to your anti-McCain view.
I’m still waiting for a plan that is more pragmatic and more common sense than Bush’s original 5-point plan.
Hey lgm
We don’t need your stupid remarks on this thread. We’re doing a pretty good job of attaching McCain. If you want to do something constructive go bash Obama at the KOSS.
Actually, we laughed at him for living off of Republican money, not just marrying well. As far as belittling his Vietnam service, he did that when he lied to Congress and threw someone else’s medals over the fence.

Doesn’t matter who McCain hangs out with. Haven’t you heard? He wasn’t able to hang out with anyone for five years.
That’s not allowed on their side, because they’re all for free speech over there, not like us.
What does his stay in the Hanoi Hilton during the Vietnam Conflict have to do with the fact that he is trying to undermine our sovereignty now?
Red herrings. I suppose that if McCain were a serial killer, we could forgive him because he was tortured in Vietnam?
b-cat…you can’t be on a site reveling in the discord between the Clinton and Obama factions and then say there’s no space for free speech on the Dem side.
Also, it’s Kos, not Koss. And why does everyone keep talking like my grandma and putting “the” in front of it.
It has everything to do with everything, Boilermaker. Any time something goes wrong or if McCain senses criticism, he falls back on his time as a POW. It’s why he told Katie Couric that there was a five year period where he didn’t have a kitchen table. And, frankly, considering that McCain now no longer believes that the things done to him there were torture (when applied to others), I don’t see the point in bringing it up all the time.
Neo-con, that was sarcasm. Sorry, thought it was clear.
We were educated in the public school system!!!!!!!
SOVEREIGNTY if the issue for me ….
La Raza –the race — is not—
legal —illegal is the issue
protection of the US and her citizens is the issue for me:
I do not want a suit-case bomb or poison or :

crossing my border!!!
Having been raised in a Danish-Irish/Dutch environment (very focused and reserved) I find the Latins to be warm and very likable….so – I have no problem with the Hispanics – I do have a problem with the lack of security at our borders.
This comes under the heading of a flat lie. And I’m not a McCain supporter.
You used the definite article again! See, now you got me doing it.
I am no fan of John McCain, politically, but you can not take away the heroism of his military service. He spent five years with less than that. And he could have got out of it.
You’re wrong txvet. Two words: stress positions.
Be careful, FamilyMan. Starting to sound a little elitist, aren’t we? Having some Grey Poupon on your sandwich? I went to public schools all my life. And the elitists in my family, who went to private school, called me a “public.” And they’re all morons. And they all vote Republican. Not that I connect the two.
Meet McCain’s new BFF and his pal Snoop
Complete with machine guns, cockfighting, drugs and gang signs.
McCain has come out strongly against any and all such, also including waterboarding. And he’s also adamant about closing Gitmo.
Puerto Ricans don’t need to immigrate; they’re US citizens, by an act of congress in 1917.
This is crazy.
HA, Cickisoup. Didn’t even think of that.
Oops, that’s Vickisoup. Sorry.
He’s pandering to his audience. It’s all about money.
Celeb-u-pocrisy, anyone?
No, Celeb-u-pasly, in McCain’s case.
Zzzzzz…
I don’t post here often, but I faithfully try to read this blog every day. Today is one of those days when I do find the need to vent. To let others know my basic political beliefs; I consider myself a libertarian Republican along the lines of thinking of someone ala talkshow host Boortz. That being said I agree with ~75% of the consensus here in regards to all of the topics (excluding the seagulls; LGM, mookie, Rusty, etc). But I find some things very troubling, i.e. the circular firing squad attitude of many posters here.
First off, those of you attacking Ms. Malkin; you are way off base. While I disagree with her on this topic I have find her to be of impeccable honesty and integrity. She tolerates a lot of dissent here and rarely bans someone unless they are advocating violence or are vulgar; try posting on the KosKids blogs and see how quickly you get banned for speaking out against the lefwingnuts; I am close to double digits. Not once did I ever see her post that she was not going to vote on Election Day or advocate others to stay at home that day. Secondly, the other side of the coin; not everyone who supports McCain is a “McCainiac”. I am supporting McCain not because I agree with him 100%, but because I feel he is vastly more qualified to be POTUS than Obama. The mere thought of the Marxist troika of Obama, Reid and Pelosi ruling this country for the next 8 years is enough to make this grown man contemplate finding an uninhabited island in the South Pacific and live a Cruesoe–like existence. We must not cut off our noses to spite our face; McCain is the only one standing in the way of that unholy alliance of evil.
Addressing the topic at hand I applaud the endorsement of Daddy Yankee (yes I have one of his CD’s). It’s a way of reaching out to a couple of important voting blocs, Latinos and youth. The man is very popular is the Latino community and maybe could help to swing a few percentage points in certain areas; we all know how important it is to get every possible vote. I ask you all; would you rather have him spewing out anti-McCain diatribes? What I find more troubling is the lack of comment of anyone here on the vile display by Madonna in the UK Saturday.
She had the audacity to compare McCain to the likes of Hitler and Mugabe on a video montage. Does anyone else take umbrage at this??? Here we have people complaining about a reggaeton superstar supporting a Republican, yet nothing about a pop superstar invoking one of the vilest comparisons about a Republican POTUS candidate. Come on people, what is wrong with that picture. It’s time for us to stop firing on each other and concentrate our efforts on the Tyrannical Troika of Trogdolytes.
OK done venting. Hope everyone has a pleasant evening!!
The fact that I think this was a big misstep on McCain’s part isn’t going to stop me from voting for him. But it’s a really, really big misstep.

Oops sorry for the double post.
Whoa…I agree with Mookie.
Strange.
BREAKING NEWS — Off Topic –
ICE is conducting raids in Mississippi.
Southern Hens, a poultry plant employing 2,000 according to local news, and Howard Industries.
Wonder how this will play at the convention or even get a mention?
well said TU,
I haven’t seen, just heard the Madonna BS, have no fear if this was a post regarding her she would have received proper discussion. I’m no McCan-o-Paint maniac either, but as you said, (I liked this part) “the unholy alliance of evil” lmao! must be stopped.
Once again, the RNC (RINO National Committee) as a party is done. Stick a fork in’er!
YTZGAL is correct.
Great job ICE
Why would they bring up a poultry farm being raided??….
not a drop of rain on their parade of fools….
I’ve never quite understood why that seems to scare people. Like I said to John Ansell, the only things we really differ on are gay marriage and Obama being Satan. I’m not going to vote for him but I don’t think he’s evil. Other than that, I’m with you folks.
So no one has ever heard of this guy, It was a trivial thing which signifies nothing yet since he is supposedly Hispanic he is going to be used as another straw man to bash McCain with.
Yet again… Not fair.
At some point McCain is going to have to decide who he is going to ditch as his potential supporters…he cannnot have all feminazis, illegal racists, or conservatives voting for him….
WHO he actually picks as VP is either going to make him or break him…picking Ridge, Lieberman, or Pawlenty or worse will give the White house to Obama.
Dear John,
Please announce Joe Lieberman as your running mate IMMEDIATELY so I can get on with imagining the horrors of what the Obamessiah will usher in during his reign and stop kidding myself that American CITIZENS would have a choice this year.
kthxbai,
- Dirk
True, Bill Grant…At least credit this conservative for holding his breath (and fire) with respect to McCain.
AJ #84
Coz they state they’re going to make immigration “reform” a legislative priority if they win.
Hope the net yields a bigger catch than Postville.
I certainly do. You have been a beacon of objectivity. Hard on the old boy when he has asked for it but not joining in on the mindless pile on party that periodically gets thrown for him here.
Does McCain Want To Win?
If he wants my vote, there are a couple of things he could do.
1. Publicly dismiss and disavow Juan Hernandez and the Reconquista for which he stands.
2. Apologize for conspiring in secret with La Raza and Ted Kennedy and trying to jam amnesty down our throats.
3. Pledge to veto ANY amnesty bill.
4. Pledge to enforce the laws, including deportation, which is the penalty for illegal aliens.
It’s up to Sen. McCain, he can represent the interests of American citizens and uphold the rule of law or he can continue to court the favor of liberals and illegal aliens.
I will not vote for the latter.
Just stopping in on a dinner break from work.
Thesis:
The vast bulk of the American electorate is “moderate”, therefore, McCain needs to court “moderates” to win.
See piece at AmericanThinker.com: moderates are only 2% of the electorate!
(See snipped sect. at end of my comment.)
New Thesis:
McCain spits in Conservatives’ collective eye because he enjoys it!
See you guys when I surface again tomorrow, after this job’s completed…

The Biggest Missing Story in Politics
By Bruce Walker
At http://www.AmericanThinker.com:
In August 2008, Americans answered that question this way:
(1) 20% of Americans considered themselves to be very conservative;
(2) 40% of Americans considered themselves to be somewhat conservative;
(3) 2% of Americans considered themselves to be moderate;
(4) 27% of Americans considered themselves to be somewhat liberal;
(5) 9% of Americans considered themselves to be very liberal; and
(6) 3% of Americans did not know or refused to answer.

So, tell me again. How isn’t it The Stupid Party?
corollary: Those who say that McCain has to pander to win haven’t thought about the facts.

John Ansell_I always appreciate your posts, along with a few others..make me laugh and think. Actually too many to mention. love your insight and humor.
Now tell me agian why should I vote McCain when he’s pandering for illegal alien votes and spitting in the eyes of Americans?
2st off I DO NOT TRUST THE OLD BASTARD.

whooops..sorry folks…no more jagger for me tonite.
