DNC returns $100,000 to Rangel
Mirabile dictu: There is cash the DNC won’t take. They’ve returned $100,000 to Charlie Rangel. The NYPost has the scoop.
In a stunning move, The Democratic National Committee plans to return a $100,000 donation from embattled Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel raised at the congressman’s recent birthday fundraising gala, The Post has learned.
The move comes on the heels of Rangel, one of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s most vocal supporters and the dean of the New York congressional delegation, being given a speaking role at the convention.
Rangel was feted at his annual Tavern on the Green birthday event a few weeks ago, where DNC chairman Howard Dean was on hand.
Sources said it was announced that night that Rangel would make the donation, apparently from his political action committtee.
But the DNC is now returning the money, several sources said.
A DNC source insisted it was because the party doesn’t accept PAC money.

The letter sent back to Rangel said
“Please send the money back to us under the table”
Since when? The DNC (as well as the RNC) accepts money for anyone/anything. It’s just how it gets to them is the question.
Maybe William Jefferson can hold it for them. I hear his freezer has room at least for the first $90k…..

….except from MoveOn.org, Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, the NEA, George Soros, the Brady Campaign to Stop Gun Violence,….
I heard he needs that money now for the rent on all the offices he has.
Wow, I don’t like Rangel one bit, but bho is plowing up snakes ticking Rangel off.
L
His Green Birthday party? What??
Rangel does have a bit of a “rental privileges” problem that the DNC, perhaps, doesn’t want to have weight them down.
For those wanting to know… as I did.
They don’t accept PAC money???… yeah, right. Anything they say.
Hey Rangel, I’ll take your PAC money. I will even report it as income!
Tavern on the Green birthday party. Nice to see that Charlie Rangel lives like the average Harlem guy he represents, having his party not in a local Harlem restaurant, but in the ritzy ‘Tavern on the Green’.
Once again, he shout’s the Democrats tagline loud and clear….”good for Me but not for Thee…”
Rangel is just showing us all his credentials as a card-carrying Limousine Liberal.
They don’t accept PAC money… unless it’s funneled through a Chinese busboy.
The Libocrap Creed.
Now that would make a hell of a T-shirt!
Whatsa matter? Denominations not small enough? Oh I see. I bet they wanted it all in Euros!
If my math is correct, this leaves the DNC with about $4 cash on hand.
Absolute proof it’s clean.
Oh I hope I hope I hope so. I love alley cat fights.
I heard Boortz say this morning that the FEC was giving the DNC and RNC $17 million each for (I believe) their conventions. Can anyone follow up on this? I was busy trying to get my car unstuck from the muck that used to be my yard before Fay came along, and didn’t hear the whole thing.
Here’s the Letter:
Howard Dean
Chairmain, DNC
Dear Charlie,
Thanks for the generous “donation” to the party’s coffers - but unfortunately we need to send it back to you. You failed to follow the guidelines that are set forth on Page 27, paragraph 4, sub paragraph 22, codicil #2 of Appendix C that states the following:
“Contributions made to the DNC must be submitted, via third person (that is not directly related to the donor, unless it is a “significant other, not their spouse”) to the chairman in a DNC approved “deposit envelope”. The donation must be in approved currency, and in unmarked bills. Deposits must be sent to the PO Box in Vermont, for further dissemination to the party faithful.”
We appreciate you enthusiastic support, and look forward to your participation at the convention in Denver this week.
Signed
Crazy Howie
PS - Please resubmit your donation NLT Thursday, Barry O needs some petty cash for him and Joe on the trail.
This is too funny. Poor Charlie.
Fear not, Mike - soon a brand new trailer will pull up at what is left of your home - free, of course - along with the National Guard and a government credit card to pay for whatever you need to get your family back on ….
What? Oh - I thought you lived in New Orleans.
Never mind.
