Jones — Barack Obama’s political mentor — denied using the racially loaded slur against Chicago political consultant Delmarie Cobb, but two aldermen who said they witnessed the Saturday night exchange back up Cobb’s account.
“Last night, I was called an ‘Uncle Tom’ by Emil Jones in the lobby of the hotel, right in front of [Ald.] Freddrenna Lyle and [Ald.] Leslie Hairston and [Ald.] Latasha Thomas,” said Cobb, a member of Clinton’s Illinois Steering Committee. “I walked over to him and asked him, ‘What did you just call me?’ ”
The embarrassing flap came on the eve of the Democratic National Convention, which will open tonight with a string of Chicago speakers talking about Obama’s life story. Jones is often referred to as Obama’s “political godfather.”

I wonder if anyone in the MSM will ask Biden if he harbors ill will toward Michelle Obama because she is a Princeton grad. When Sam Alito was nominated for the USSC, Biden announced at the hearing that Alito was a Princeton man and he (Biden) was a street kid from working class parents who was never treated right by Princeton students and faculty. Of course, that proved to be a lie as a video surfaced of Biden speaking at Princeton and lavishing praise on Princeton University. But I just wonder if anyone will say: “Senator Biden, you said Princeton students and grads were snobs who snubbed you. Does that include Michelle Obama, who went to Princeton (and never tires of bragging about it)?

I have been interviewed by Roland Martin before at WVON Radio in Chicago. I was there to tslk about Condi Rice, but he just wanted to shout me down about Iraq. (And apparently Condi blew up the levees in New Orleans. Did you know that?)
Anytime he didn’t have a good response to my comments, he shouted “Oh! Oh! Oh!” I don’t know how to spell the sound . It kinda sounded like heartburn.
I really worked to hold back the “Laugh-In” jokes . (Remember the NBC show “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In”?)
I’ll bet she’s good at a stare down. Scary.
The expression “Uncle Tom” is not a “racially loaded slur.” It is a political criticism directed against an individual of color who is either a) conservative or perceived as such or b) considered for whatever reason to be insufficiently contemptuous of white people. The proper response is not to report a hate crime, but to do one of the following (pick one):
* “Excuse me, I don’t know about you, but there are no Thomas Sowell books in my library.”
* “Forgive me kind sir, but my friends will sign statements that I have never said anything nice about white people. Will your friends do the same, presuming you have any?”
* “I don’t have to put up with that kind of trash talk, mutha’!” and punch the SOB where it really hurts.
Celebrate what? Amnesty? Higher taxes? Late term abortions? The rising sales of tire gauges?
I received one of those “articles” that come through the email so frequently (source was omitted) and one comment (among many) succinctly stated
“The [Democrat's] now have the perfect candidate because they can squash criticism by playing the race card. If you don’t like Obama, or criticize him, you are a racist. They can hide his inexperience and background by turning him into a rock star and singing change and hope. They don’t tell us what kind of change, or how it will be done, only that you should hope for the best. By keeping the hype going they don’t have to put anything of substance on the table.”
Sounds like MO is touting this change theme without defining what the change is.

What I was suggesting, though, is that the United States is a place where (don’t get all cranky about this, it’s just statistics) it’s challenging for people to rise above the social and economic station into which they were born and that race has been a special impediment since the Republic was born. Nonetheless, through grit and determination etc., Obama risen to the point where he may be able to add depth to the old saw that “anyone can grow up to president” — not just white males.

Barack Obama arranges for a nice earmark for the University of Chicago Hospital. Then Mrs. Obama gets a hefty raise to over $300,000.00 to a job of “diversity director”. Mrs. Obama is not a doctor or a hospital administrator or even a nurse. What on earth does the University of Chicago Hospital need to spend $300.00+ dollars on? Obviously it a nice thank you to Barack for the earmark and and a nice way of telling Barack to remember us next year also.

Sure America has it’s faults. No one can deny that. But to go as far as she did and say it’s a “mean place” is completely wrong.
Again, wrong. My parents came to the US in 1956. They had about $10 in their pocket, a suitcase full of clothes and didn’t even speak the language. They now own their home free and clear, both their cars, and have plenty to retire on. They could’ve had even more, but they saved to help me get a start when I moved out. So, I don’t buy that argument for a minute. Anyone born in the US has already started in a better position than my parents did. The opportunity is there for anyone to achieve whatever goals they want. They just need to get off their butts and do it.

Being stuck in a class or economic stratum is not restricted to “since the Republic was born”. Indeed, the Republic was established to escape that fate which predominated Europe and the rest of the world. Why do people emigrate to America? My fornt steps/foyer were an office for local prositutes. I don’t remember hearing about Barack Obama living that way though..
Both my parents were on disability for seperate medical conditions, & we lived off of food stamps because we had to for a while, but I was determined to take my good health, & my brain, & become reliant on God & myself as an adult. That old saw about growing up to be President went out the window somewhere around the end of the 19th century. When we see a person of any color work to get educated, learn their craft and rise thru the system in a nominal manner, then we will have a success story. Obama is a clean and articulate ‘Black’ man (Biden’s words, not mine) who was chosen and then groomed for a spot in national politics. He did not have to sweat for anything. To my knowledge he has never even worked at a real job in his life. How then is he the voice of the common man?
