It’s titled “South Side Girl.”
Reminding the American public about her Chicago roots and ties.
Did someone maybe think this (Ayers..Wright..Rezko…UChicago hospital dumping plan…etc…etc…etc…) might not be a good idea?

I stand here today at the crosscurrents of that history – knowing that my piece of the American Dream is a blessing hard won by those who came before me. All of them driven by the same conviction that drove my dad to get up an hour early each day to painstakingly dress himself for work. The same conviction that drives the men and women I’ve met all across this country:
People who work the day shift, kiss their kids goodnight, and head out for the night shift – without disappointment, without regret – that goodnight kiss a reminder of everything they’re working for.
The military families who say grace each night with an empty seat at the table. The servicemen and women who love this country so much, they leave those they love most to defend it.
The young people across America serving our communities – teaching children, cleaning up neighborhoods, caring for the least among us each and every day.
People like Hillary Clinton, who put those 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling, so that our daughters – and sons – can dream a little bigger and aim a little higher.
People like Joe Biden, who’s never forgotten where he came from, and never stopped fighting for folks who work long hours and face long odds and need someone on their side again.
All of us driven by a simple belief that the world as it is just won’t do – that we have an obligation to fight for the world as it should be.
That is the thread that connects our hearts. That is the thread that runs through my journey and Barack’s journey and so many other improbable journeys that have brought us here tonight, where the current of history meets this new tide of hope.
That is why I love this country.

I’m very glad I didn’t watch this. I can feel the vomit tickle the edges of my epiglottis as I read the transcript.
I wonder how many audience shots they’ll show vs. the Repub convention. I.e. how many enraptured faces and tear-drenched cheeks will we see when Obama talks about how tough that first issue of the Harvard Law Review was against when McCain talks about accepting beatings and solitary so the longer-serving POW could go home. (”Getting shot down doesn’t equal being President! Not like testifying before Congress of Genghis Khan-reminiscent tactics does!”)
I wonder how many precious, precious votes fall victim to this PR crap. Granted, both conventions are PR crap to a degree. The difference is that the Repubs just want a decent, not great, President, and the Dems want an anointed Messiah to deliver them from a non-European-styled America.
In all honesty, the best part for me was when she got very serious and earnest in describing why she “left a law firm to pursue a life of public service”.
Just at the moment she started to say why it was, the teleprompter must have gone funny (or she couldn’t believe what she was reading) and she wasn’t sure of the next word. “I did it to…. emmmmm…. emmmmmmmmmmmmm…. empower people……”

I just loved the music at the end (uh yeah, I thought working out at the gym after work was more important than listening to Miss America)…the song was “Isn’t she Lovely?” – one of the songs I associate with the Miss America pagents of old….I almost believed the stuff coming out of her mouth – until I realized she was readin it.Darn, didn’t she learn to speak in law school? oh wait, that’s where she learned to stretch the truth.

The UCMC where MO works apparently needed to make its emergency room more efficient/cost effective. You speak a lot of truth. We are separated by the current two party system who are so parallel in their handling of our affairs there is barely a difference.
I have seen it posted here, by other’s, that we need to start changing at the local levels of government.
At this point, we do need to support the more conservative candidate…..the one least likely to appoint liberal justices to the SCOTUS. This is our final place to ensure we do not lose the rights for which our fore-fathers fought.
Too much is on the line……. a liberal SCOTUS, along with a liberal President and liberal Congress could impose the Fairness Doctrine, reduce our right to bear arms….
which would then be the beginning of the end…..
Although I am not thrilled with our Republican candidate, I will cast my vote for him. This is the best country in the world. I won’t sit this one out, in hopes something better will come along.
Take heart! Many blacks are breaking through that Democrat created ceiling of the soft bigotry of low expectations and becoming Republicans!
That being said, the Dems purposely try to pump up the number of minorities to give the impression you got.

I wrote down 2 pages of what she said. I swear every time she mention the word community all I could think of was community organizer.
She never mentioned where they went to college, but oh yeah, they are just like us! I did not attend an Ivy League college, neither did my husband and neither will our twins! WE CANNOT AFFORD IT! Plus I have not homeschooled them all these years to have some hooty-patooty school re-educate their skulls full of mush just to come home as libtards!
She also said THE ONE “recognizes your word is your bond”. Really! Is that like saying you will take public financing for your campaign and then saying, “Nah, I changed my mind.” And I could not begin to list all the lies THE ONE has been spewing forth as “his word” that is so “his bond”! LOL!
Her brief mentioning of our beloved military seemed to be both pandering and forced. Very yucky moment.
Hope and Change were not defined and basically in total this whole appearance by Michelle seemed a waste in both redefining her as NOT the angry American, and giving us insight to THE ONE. Everything she said was so much to the opposite end of the truth, or what they have really done or said. I was so drunk from the spin!
As an American it was great to see an African-American family rise to this level of success. We have come a long way since 1865, and we should be proud we as a nation have learned from our mistakes and injustices. You certainly cannot say that about Russia or many other nations these days.
As a Mom, those kids are absolutely adorable and since our two are going off to college next fall, I miss them being those ages. I hope Michelle and Obama do not miss out too much on these priceless moments. However, I do hope we can give those back to them by defeating him come November.

I couldn’t stand how she always said “You See” when telling a story. It felt like she was talking down to you; very elitist. So many of her quotes about what Barack will do was liberal. One quote that really bothered me was “Amercia should be a place where you can make it”. Okay, first of all it is and has always been… Michelle and Barack you both went to Ivy league college. Give me a break.
So she looked good, the kids are really cute. But, she still comes across as fake, not genuine, and elitist. Her speech felt forced and full of political words to appeal to the liberals and delegates.
Not impressed and Chris Wallace said it best on Fox News… they didn’t accomplish much of anything tonight.
I did not see ONE American flag at the speech. I did not see one when they scanned the audience. I saw more in the audience at the Olympics than at the DNC.
Come on Michelle…Tell us all why you work for a hospital that turn away and ships out the poor and underpriveleged in the community for being poor and not having insurance. Is this your idea of integrity? Sounds like a prime example of Liberal Integrity…”Do as I say, not as I do”.

I was really glad I grabbed that “motion discomfort bag” from my air travel a couple weeks ago. It came in handy during Michelle’s speech.
The more she tried to convince people that she and Barack were “just like them”, the more I became enraged.
