So when Exxon or the NRA sends people to Washington to ask Congressmen to vote a certain way, they’re evil lobbyists.

When trial lawyers or the ACLU does it, they’re expressing the “will of the people.”

    NOW I get it!

I wish that corporations and their lobbyists (that’s you Citigroup) who’ve bilked their investors of billions would just get out of the political butt-kissing business. Lobbyists’ taint is all over both parties.

Have things really changed for the Dems? Are they the most ethical political party ever? Or did the Dems “cash in” (pun intended) on an opportunity in 2006 to make them the most “ethical Congress” ever? It was more of the other party got caught in a lobbyist brouhaha to a bigger extent than the Dems.

Is Barack Obummer really any different? He says he is but if you check his records, does his money come from just private citizens? Or is it bundled and collected from not only municipal and state lobbyists but their wives?

The Dems and Republicans are both tainted with this garbage. Both parties care more about collecting lobbyist money, kickbacks, and pork then improving the daily lives of Americans. For the Dems to suggest that they are above such activities? It’s just downright ridiculous!

Every time each political party thinks they’re fooling anyone with this nonsense, think again. Maybe the uneducated, brainwashed masses will forgive… just remember that if observant/conscientuous constituents are watching and find you’re part of the problem… you might as well pack your bags.

Do you care to bet any amount of money that Democrats will not hold both the Senate and the House in January? And by all indications by larger margins?

Seriously. If you want to make some serious scratch, there are plenty of websites where you can buy futures in various political events. I can’t imagine how little a contract that the Republicans take back either Chamber would cost.

chapoutier, the reason democrats took over the house and senate in 06 was because republicans were sending their party hacks a message. i believe they got the message. isn’t it time your party sent a message to it’s party hacks? the most ethical congress in history, william jefferson. the most engaged and work oriented congress ever, only if you count all the stupid investigations by rabid chairmen and leprechauns from cleveland. the historic first woman speaker of the house who answers her critics with “drill in their brains” or that pillar of patriotism john murtha who convicts in the media before any facts are known ala the prosecutor in the duke rape case. then that paragon of virtue is videotaped seeking a bribe, and earmarks more money than any congressman. we will see when the votes are cast, after all, four years ago jfkerry was windsurfing his way to the presidency.

What does this have to do with why the lobbyists are there???? That was a pretty weak attempt to hijack this thread.

I have no problem with the fat cats. Free speech and all that. I’m glad to see ABC is on top of this. I what equal coverage at the Republican parties. We need to know who these people are and what they’re pushing. The partial cure to their influence would be to dismantle the IRS and change the rules in congress. I know folks, you think I’m dreaming but I have big goals.

yep best government money can buy….there are, at last count, 41,000 lobbyists in the District of Clowns…that’s 7 for every member of Congress…with the largest being the Chamber of Commerce who lobbies for open borders and cheap criminal alien labor…go figure…you’d think that being behind closed doors away from any public eye would be better for them..but obviously not….

Be ready, if the left controls The White House and both chambers on Capitol Hill in 2009, it will take 3 or more generations to repair the damage. We still haven’t fixed what FDR broke.

Just because you might need one doesn’t mean you can’t despise them. After all, the left has needed the military on many occasions, but that doesn’t change their hatred for all things military.

How different are Democrats and Republicans? Not the voters, but the parties themselves. How different are they? I’d argue that they are almost the same, maybe not so much in word, but definitely in deed.

And you can bet that there be at the Republican Convention as well (and I’m willing to bet all the networks will give 24/7 coverage of this story and not one lone ABC reporter)

    Time for a housecleaning.
