DNC night 2 open thread; Update: She won’t back down, scattered boos; “The time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose.”

I can’t really take much more of it — and it’s only the second night of Democrat speechifying.
Mark Warner’s delivering the keynote. Hillary’s much-hyped healing moment/catharsis/PUMA pow-wow will follow a bit after that in the 10pm Eastern hour.
Ed and Allah are liveblogging at HA.
Wake me up when she cackles.

Apparently, the Great Phrase of the Night is Bob Casey’s line that McCain is a “sidekick,” not a “maverick.”
Zzzzzzz.

CNN reports that Bill Clinton will skip Obama’s Invesco Field speech.
This elder statesman thing is a drag, eh, Billy Boy?

10:43pm Eastern. She makes her grand entrance. Dressed in orange creamsicle. Bill and Hill’s eyes both watering. Deafening applause. The music’s blaring: “She won’t back down.”
More applause. Whistles. Roars. Michelle Obama’s gritting her teeth and applauding.
I’m here tonight as a proud mother. Proud Senator. Proud American. And proud supporter of Barack Obama. “The time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose.”
Michelle and Joe Biden approve in the stands.
You can hear scattered boos.
“We are on the same team and none of us can afford to sit on the sidelines. This is a fight for the future and it is a fight we must win together.”
Maybe it’s just me, but it looks like people might be getting removed from the floor?
Hill: “No way, no how, no McCain. Barack Obama is my candidate and he must be our president.”
Michelle and Hill: Who would win in the glacial staring contest?
“You made me laugh and yes, you even made me cry.”
She’s telling all her old campaign victim anecdotes. Gives a shout out to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits.
Ewww.
A nice tribute to the son of Stephanie Tubbs Jones and the widow of Bill Gwaltney.
A galling reference to Chinese dirty money and private profits over the public good.
Michelle O can barely get through this. Hasn’t cracked a smile yet.
Were you in this campaign just for me or were you in it for Marine, single mom struggling cancer, families on minimum wage…we need leaders…who can tap into American optimism…blah blah..Bill is beaming…there are no limits to what is possible in America. This will not be easy. Progress never is. But it will be impossible if we don’t fight to put a Democrat back in the White House.
Well, this will probably seal the deal. Another cutaway to the new ice queen, Michelle O.
Hillary gives her hubby a shout-out. STanding ovation. Michelle O and Joe B gingerly clapping again. Is that fear in their eyes?
A dig at Obama’s differences with her on health care: “I can’t wait until Barack Obama signs a law that covers every single American in this country.”
Hillary praises Michelle O and Joe B. He’s pragmatic, tough, and wise. They will be a great team for our country.
“John McCain is my colleague and my friend. He has served with honor and courage, but we don’t need four more years of the last eight years.”
11:05pm Eastern. She’s quoting Harriet Tubman. “Keep going.” Almost lapsing into her Selma accent. “We’re Americans and we don’t quit…we don’t have a moment to lose or a moment to spare.” Her accent, whatever it is, is getting thicker.
Over.
Forced smiles all around.

McCain adviser Carly Fiorina is on Fox playing the gender card to the hilt and making a hard sell to dissed Hillary supporters.
Imagine them mustering up the same amount of energy to woo conservatives.
