Look who’s calling whom racist now

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 26, 2008 09:19 AM

This is classic. After relentless rhetoric from Obama and his minions about the inherent racism of conservatives, we now have left-wing union leaders assailing their rank-and-file for their inherent racism.

Via The Hill:

Racial prejudice is being cited among senior union leaders to explain Sen. Barack Obama’s difficulty in winning over support from white rank-and-file members.

Obama (D-Ill.) is counting on organized labor to help win him key electoral votes in Ohio, Michigan and other battleground states.

Karen Ackerman, political director for the AFL-CIO, acknowledged that Obama’s race is an important factor for some union members.

“This race is very complicated because there is an African-American candidate for president,” said Ackerman. “We feel there is a racial component for some union members, but we’re confident we can overcome that.”

…Obama’s difficulties with white, working-class voters, who make up much of the ranks of organized labor, became apparent during the Democratic primary. Clinton beat Obama by large margins in states such as Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky, which have high concentrations of lower-income white voters.

“I think there’s more resistance than people want to admit,” said Edward Finkelstein, publisher of the Labor Tribune, a weekly publication distributed in about 80,000 union households in St. Louis and southern Illinois. “It’s ingrained that voting for a black is anathema to everything in their core.”

It doesn’t occur to them that (some of) their members may jusy not want to vote for an inexperienced candidate.

But no, it can never be a liberals fault. It always has to be that the people are to stupid. That the people are sexist or, in this case, racist. Never that the liberal message just plain sucks.

You are exactly right. If everybody is a racist, then nobody is a racist. There is no power to the word anymore. Using swear words is a sign of a poor vocabulary: you have no idea how to modify a verb or a noun, so you modify it with a dirty word for impact.

The best thing about the Barack obama campaign has been that it is awakening the racial consciousness of 10′s of millions of American Whites. The fact is that after seeing how blacks really view White Europeans and Jews, millions of us will be less inclined to care that someone may think us a “racist”, we may treat black people with the respect the EARN rather than ascribing them pride of place simply by skin color. Most importantly, I think Whites will begin to take care of their own again, and stop worrying if inner city thugs are killing and raping because of poverty or because of racism. Maybe we will start wondering why we are paying to pretend to educate millions of black Americans who have zero interest and zero intellect. Perhaps we will start to demand to see a return on our trillions of dollars of taxes that have gone straight to one community at the expense of our own childrens college educations, our own investment accounts, our own dreams and aspirations. Why must every hard-working White person in america carry a millstone of taxation around his neck, only to be told he is a “racist” “Clinging to guns and his bible”. The millstone is getting heavy. Time to work or starve, I think.

Affirmative action is THE main reason of “Racism” on both sides. White people have been reverse discriminated against for years with the excuse that it’s levelling the playing field. Caucasians are now getting tired of the “game”! And even more tired everytime they hear the “race card” being played. If a white person has more seniority, greater experience and/or does a better job, it’s irrelevent and they get passed over for some minority because it looks great on the employer spreadsheet. White people, in general, are FRUSTRATED, not racist!

White people who have NEVER been racist before are now angry at losing jobs, promotions and better pay THEN being labeled racist because of they are not happy with the situation. Angry, but not racist!

To be perfectly honest, as a white woman, I’ve met more black racists in the last 20 years than white racists.

I’ve seen too many times that unionist will just blindly follow the union-supported ticket when voting. Well, the unions have lost more and more of their god-like powers in the last 10 years because of the economy and blue collar workers are losing their jobs left and right, so my personal belief is that the zombies are waking up and FINALLY voting on their own instead of blindly following the union ballot. That’s NOT racism, that’s liberty!!!

To have to convince NYers to vote for Obama shows how bad he’s doing here. When I listen to what peoples’ response to them is that they think he’s a communist. HMMM… He’s too left for the lefties here!!! That ‘s precious!!! or maybe we’re all racists too!!!

We had a dinner guest the other night that made me do something I would never do to a guest. I laughed out loud, right in his face, at something he said. He is a staunch trade unionist(getting paid about twice what the trade would earn in an open market). He assumed my wife was a Democrat (and would be voting for Obama) because she had been forced to join the teachers’ union 30 years ago.

Worse than that, I said he should feel honored since we don’t usually let Democrats come into our home.

There are a lot of awesome posts on this thread. I have come to the same conclusions as many of you.

Obama has stirred up a hornet’s nest and it has not been a positive thing. The negativity that we have seen all along and very early on, from him and his campaign is starting to resonate with more people as they see through what he and his cohorts, the so-called major media put out. We see the real story of deception about the people he has surrounding himself with and associated with over a long period of time.

I’m really starting to believe he may not win. It may come down to how many dead people vote for him.

The best thing about the Barack obama campaign has been that it is awakening the racial consciousness of 10’s of millions of American Whites.

I disagree. The “awakening” has occurred for millions of Americans. Period. This isn’t a racial issue, please don’t allow the Dems to frame the debate in such a way that you fall prey to it. Obie is dangerous because of what he stands for and that has very little to do with his skin color.

The fact is that after seeing how blacks really view White Europeans and Jews, millions of us will be less inclined to care that someone may think us a “racist”, we may treat black people with the respect the EARN rather than ascribing them pride of place simply by skin color.

I would ask that you not use such a broad brush and allow the Obamas, Rev. Wright, Jesse and Al and their supporters to make the case that they speak for every black person individually.

Most importantly, I think Whites will begin to take care of their own again, and stop worrying if inner city thugs are killing and raping because of poverty or because of racism.

Sounds a little white supremacy to me… and if that’s your angle you are free to feel that way. But I truly think your anger should be directed towards those particular programs – held up by liberals as helping a class of people who aren’t being helped at all by said programs.

C’mon you are better than this.

Why must every hard-working White person in america carry a millstone of taxation around his neck, only to be told he is a “racist” “Clinging to guns and his bible”. The millstone is getting heavy. Time to work or starve, I think.

    Taxes don’t discriminate.

My point is this … there are many people that are born and raised in countries on the African continent that are NOT-Black skinned …

So … doesn’t that mean that a white skinned person from an African nation that migrates to the USA and becomes a citizen is also an “African-American” by definition? …

Nope. Sure doesn’t. I hope I can find a link to it somewhere, but a couple of years ago there was a story along these lines. Family immigrates from South Africa. Highschool kid is notified he can’t call himself “African-American”. Despite the fact he was born and raised in South Africa.

I frankly don’t want to be lumped in ideologically with many of the people I meet, white, black, brown or otherwise. I don’t find race as a reason to vote together as a block.

Strange that its acceptable and even lauded that as many as 90% of blacks in some places ARE voting for Barry. Perhaps the Black Liberation Theology is alive and well within the hearts, minds and souls of the Obamas (and many of their followers).

Maybe this is the “unity” that Barry’s always on about.

We are all “racists,” to some degree. And within each of us lies some HATE.
But media manipulation has shifted our political spectrum: Now, what would normally be called our “Right Wing” has been effectively silenced, by allowing itself to be portrayed as “racist” and “hateful. So now, our POLITICAL CENTER is confused, more often than not, with our RIGHT. This is evedenced by the ratings for Fox News Channel. Leftists are now confused with the CENTER.
Until we shake-off this anti-white construct called “racism,” America will continue to suffer!

Obviously most people know that this line is just thrown out there for political reasons. But more questions along these lines should make the interviewee throw someone under the bus. Especially because they are talking about their own membership.

Also, another line of questioning: Do you know if all of the so-called African-Americans are supporting Obama? If so, is it for racial reasons? If not, are they racist?

And lastly: If you aren’t supporting John McCain, are you ageist?
