DNC Night 3 open thread: The serfs await; Surprise: The ONE descends from the heavens!
Scroll for updates…liveblogging the parting of the heavens for the surprise appearance of The One…

The roll call theater is over. Billy Boy prepares to strike the impossible balance between Clintonian self-aggrandizement and elder statesman-unifier. The PUMAs lick their wounds. And the stage managers continue prepping Barackopolis.
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
***
Bill Clinton read his lines with practiced enthusiasm. Obama, he proclaimed (while stifling a snort) is “ready to lead.”
Joe Biden has a loving family and an adoring, beautifully dignifed mother.
He is lucky.
He also has a lot of baggage.
He makes a lame attempt at a call and repsonse: “That’s not change. That’s more of the same.”
Clunker.
10:47pm Eastern. Interesting. We’ve gone 25-30 minutes without a word about Iraq.
Oh, here we go.
Huh? The threat in the Middle East is “fundamental fundamentalism?”
Still no specific mention of Iraq. He’s already moved on to Georgia and Pakistan.
“American cannot afford four more years of this failure.”
(Flashback: Biden – wrong on the surge.)
10:50pm Eastern. Comedy gold! Biden crediting Obama with being right about sending more troops to Afghanistan — a year after blasting Obama for copying him on Afghanistan and being AWOL on the issue.
Biden shouting…
“Again: McCain was wrong and Barack was right.”
(Translation: I was right!)
Biden mentions his SCRANTON ties for the 2,676th time.
It’s over. His lovely wife comes on stage.
She has a special surprise guest.
It’s THE ONE.
He has descended from the heavens!
He speaks!
“I think the convention has gone very well so far. What do you think? Michelle kicked it off pretty well. Hillary Clinton rocked the house last night. President Clinton reminded us what it’s like when you actually put people first.”
This is weird. He’s acting like an emcee. Not like, you know, the next president of the U.S.
Obama: “Change doesn’t start from the top up, er, the top down. It starts from the bottom up.”
He’s nervous. Where’s the teleprompter?
And ending with the obligatory afterthought: “God bless America.”

El Hilldebeast finally got a “cackle” in just before her “Acclamation”
:::gag:::
were we supposed to wake Michelle up?
I love the way California “passed” on the roll call, Odumbo didnt want to see Hilly ahead on the board at any time…. reincarnation of sue ann niven taking the roll…. phoooooony sheesh.
Bring on Bubba… lol, I may have to watch this tonight…. what time is he up? 6:00?
The reason Bill Clinton is scheduled to give such a short speech is because he’s supposed to talk about Obama’s foreign policy credentials.
I’m with you aj … if it wasn’t for the Clintons there would be no excitement in Denver this week … (With apologies to our hostess for her adventures amongst the nutroots) … anyone else notice that when Madame Botox called for the voice vote for acclamation she did not even take a breath between saying “all those opposed say no” and “2/3 of the delegates having spoken the nomination carries” … no way they were going to let anyone have achance to get a single “no” on tv or tape … what a farce …
I think and hope the first black president will be a Republican (Michael Steele?), but Shirley Chisholm came to mind earlier today. On a human level, I’m sorry she’s not here to see this.
The new Democrat campaign slogan: May the farce be with you.
yes I noticed dl, also heard her say how long should I let this go on when they were cheering for Hilldebeast… lol, it was either pelosi or sue ann…. anyway what a joke.
I agree … I’m a Michael Steele fan as well … J.C. Watts is another good possibility if they could get him to come back into goverment from his very successful business ventures …
ot…
dl send me your picks!
What happened to doing a full roll call? Sounds like we’re back to the old “smokefilled rooms” style of nominations.
What a joke.
Maybe Bubba will give us one last hurrah.
It was glaringly obvious. Even my stupid dog laughed at how they ran away from that one.
My collie says:
I notice they wave the rainbow flag and not the American flag in the auditorium.
Anyone want to open a “Toga Rental” business in Denver … you should be able to retire by the weekend …
lol, probably still have one in a trunk somewhere arund here.
or maybe its not arund anymore,,,, sheesh.
aj … 77,000 togas at $100 each for the general public … of course … for the actual delegates there is special pricing … $750 rental should be about right … and for the big shots … $2500 should be in their range easily …
AHHHH … gotta love it when a plan comes together … (A-Team still rocks) …
If Bill is wearing Pumas too, I’ll tune in. But he hates Republicans so I think he’ll stick to the talking points until he gets home.
It’s not surprising that the party who wants to take away secret ballots from union votes suspends the rules so that the states don’t get to vote.
CS … good point … they need to put that in a tv ad …
The voting machines are on the way from Zimbabwe to Florida too.
Yeah saw that talk about losing alot of woman votes. So will they form search party to stop and re educate the non followers.
Odopeys entire campaign is enough to keep Saturday Night Live in material for years to come.
I presume that ACORN certified the credentials of all the voting delegates prior to the roll call. We certainly did not want any fraud here.
Here comes Bubba! Once again, Michelle O looks perturbed.
Please stop? Sit down?
Slick Willie has em rolling in the aisles…and he ain’t said anything but “sit down.”
OMG, he’s laying it thick already.
I’d love to play poker with Michelle O.
That’s what BSer’s do. And hope it’ll cover another smell.
I often wonder why the Left loves Clinton. If success means: losing the House majority; getting impeached; failing to protect the United States from terrorist attacks at home and abroad, and letting many of the perpetrators go unpunished; failing to capture/kill Bin Laden due to lack of will vice opportunity; and getting caught in an affair, then I guess he’s your guy.
The party that cheats and cries about their voters being disenfranchised, even does it to their own.
If America is in as sorry a shape as Bill says it is, why do so many people keep trying to sneak in here?
That to me seems reason enough to vote for him.
If you support funny late night sketch comedy, you support Barack Obama.
Have you prepared your offering for the temple …
Is it just me or is Bill’s nose growing?
I arrived home late! Who did his intro? Hugh Hefner?
BHO has a “clear grasp of foreign policy”?!?!?!
WTH!
national security leadership we need to get attacked again!
If Biden was such a good choice for running mate, why are Obama’s poll numbers still slipping?
Wow…
His heart is REALLY into this one.
Yup.
Sure is.
Just like Bill Clinton has a clear grasp of “no means no.”
Drudge saying McCain has picked his running mate.
“Obama is ready to be President of the United States.”
Well, I’m sure he wants to be, if that’s what you mean.
Bush has spent more real dollars on AIDs than anyone, yet it is not enough.
Bush should absolutely be commended for his Africa/AIDS policy.
Did Clinton just say a world troubled by “People”?
hahaha
The only global warming is coming from Clinton’s hot air!
Looky, Michelle O is sitting next to Te-ray-zah!
Yes, Barack knows we must be strong at home. Which is why he hung around Ayers, & capitulates to International terrorists as well..
How come there are so many poor, uninsured, layed-off, disenfranchised, discriminated against, starving, homeless people when the GOP is in power? The Congress controls spending and the Dems have controlled the Congress and its purse strings for 2 years.
Katrina – the disaster brought to you by the ineffective leadership of the La. Democrats.
if all these things are so important … how come Billy Boy:
Didn’t sign the Kyoto Treaty himself? …
Spent many times less in fighting Aids and such than Bush has spent? …
Refused to take action against Bin Laden and others when the opportunity presented itself? …
Refused to go after the perpetrators of:
The first World trade center attack? …
The USS cole attackers? …
The Khobar towers bombers? …
Black Hawk down? …
There are more … but I just remembered the answer to my own questions …
He was too busy giving out presidential souvenirs to interns in blue dresses …
defined as “tax and spend”. Oh yes, Bill, we have seen it in action.
The devil is jealous of his lies..
P.U.M.A.M.A
Kudos to Hillary Clinton. She gets an A+ from the time of her brilliant speech last night to this ACCLAMATION today. I have beat up on her for years. Hillary was my 4th favorite choice when the primaries started behind Biden, Edwards, and Obama. I was/am tired of political dynasties, and I’ve simply never trusted her. This week she has put party and country ahead of herself. This is the most important week of her legacy. You have the ball to run with Senator Obama. Let’s take the White House. Yes we can!!!
It’s laughable how the republicans are predicting a 15pt bounce after the convention. Nothing like setting unreasonable expectations to spin the story to your advantage. The closer this race remains the more young people and Hillary supporters will understand the importance of their vote. There is no “ONE” and no inevitability. Every vote counts. The Dems must and will have record turnout. Oh yeah as a heads up, people who only use cellphones aren’t showing up in the polls. This will be a close, hard fought battle for the White House like we’ve never seen.
There they go again! The evil GOP throwing old people out in the street again.
Thanks for reminding me why I couldn’t stand this guy.
OK folks..I”m late to the game here.
Anyone count the number of times he bit his lip?
We were right about you Bill. Name one foreign policy win you had?
Yes, give credit where credit is due. Bob Geldoff(sp) praises Bush for the same. However, there are other problems with Mr. Bush…….
Nope, but I’m not looking, just listening(gag).
sexual orientation… oh puke!
I do believe he’s enjoying this a little too much.
Thank God it’s over!

I don’t think so..
Obama’s numbers are sinking like a rock, even during the Convention..
This is the Joe Biden show now.. If anything you’ll be electing Biden & his hand puppet named Barack..
Hmmm. Doesn’t look like I missed much. But then again that’s what I thought during the 8 years he was president too.
Bubba has got the PUMAs tearing their hair out.
Pretty weak for a 2 term president. No real substance… like everything else at this convention.
Dl, we all know Bubba is full of poop, its just fun to watch the first successful mission of the perpetual BS machine work.
They need to get a better cover band – they are seriously messing up some songs.
I got laid off during the Clintons years because my industry had to downsize under his administration … I spent all of those years struggling … under Bush I finally got a good job again and am making 5 times what I was making under Clinton … in the same industry as before … so as far as I am concerned there was nothing in his presidency that was worth anything to me … period …
Solid effort by William J., but he just doesn’t have the magic touch like he used to. I don’t know what has happen to him in recent years.
Sauce???
Go Darth Karl!
I’m surprised Bono wasn’t there singing in person.
They needed to hire a conservative band.. They don’t get too smashed & drugged up to play their instruments..
I ain’t going to touch that one…
Wow, what a slug.
….all of the goose’s and all of the gander’s.
Karl Rove just blasted him for the misrepresentation of the Kyoto treaty signing …
I agree DesertLover…
We own a business, and we doubled the number of employees during the Bush years. In fact, one of our guys who’s in the National Guard had to leave for Iraq for 9 months. And we kept him on payroll. Yes, he’s back and he’s working again. Thrilled to be working for us.
hahahaha!
Michelle O is trying to start a fashion trend with her fake pins and sleevless frocks.
Instead of Jackie O she looks more like Mrs. Jetson
His speech was
betterjust as lame as Hers.Oh no, did I just hear Bidet is taking the stage next?
This ought to be good for some content…
I’m speaking of Komrade Klinton of course.
Those dogs that bark out Christmas songs sound better than the DNC band. Probably a casualty of Affirmative Action.
now that is a very good question…but the better one is why do “we the people” continue to let it happen?
As a U2 fan, even in light of the Bono/Dave Stewart Obama song, that was a TERRIBLE rendition of Beautiful Day.
I’m not a fan of what she was wearing either. What’s the deal with those big, plastic-looking flowers?
I thank you and America thanks you.
Desertlover-we too are doing better now financially than we ever have. We ARE better off than we were when Clinton was in the White House.
BlameAmericaLast
Good for you and glad your employee came home safely … my thanks to him and to you for keeping him on the payroll …
I don’t usually talk about those years but he got my dander up with that total BS about how great things were before Bush …
Listening to the great stainmaker orate.
Blo’tarded windage. He is making me sick. The pit of my stomache hasn’t felt like this since Jan ‘97.
I guarantee this guy will turn on Obambi come Oct to make sure Hilderbeast doesn’t have to wait ’till ‘16 for another shot. She’ll stay above the fray to maintain “viability” when Bill plunges the knife in his back. (For all you literalists out there, in this instance knife is meant as metaphor for a political dirty trick ).
huh?
in a loving way of course.
oh ok you convinced me to vote for Odopey…. lol @ chap.
That’s because there are two Americas. And one of them hates itself.
I have to say that I thought Bill’s speech could have been better. My husband kept telling me to change the channel because he could not stand listening to the BS that was being spewed.
You’re welcome!
We also have several former military folks working for us as well!
I pay extra attention to those resumes that come in with past military experience for various reasons. But first and foremost, they’re one of the most disciplined, fun and loyal people to work with.
Sean Hannity is asking about Obama’s experience…just crickets from this guy
The economic prosperity of the ’90s was a bubble that economists predicted would bust, and it did. The first crack came in March 2000, while Bill was still in office. I remember it well.
what plan??????????????
Heck, my 14 year old just told me “mom, he’s not answering the question!”
Duh!
