Bill Clinton read his lines with practiced enthusiasm. Obama, he proclaimed (while stifling a snort) is “ready to lead.”
Joe Biden has a loving family and an adoring, beautifully dignifed mother.

“I think the convention has gone very well so far. What do you think? Michelle kicked it off pretty well. Hillary Clinton rocked the house last night. President Clinton reminded us what it’s like when you actually put people first.”
This is weird. He’s acting like an emcee. Not like, you know, the next president of the U.S.
Obama: “Change doesn’t start from the top up, er, the top down. It starts from the bottom up.”

navywife, I didn’t vote for McCain, either, in the primaries. But no way am I going to stay home in November and not vote GOP against Obama. I may have to wear nose plugs and drink martinis, but I will do it. Romney would actually be my first choice as VP, but I don’t think it will be him.
chap, if Gov. Jindal does as well as Florida governors with hurricanes, it could be a plus for the GOP. Of course, I could have managed Katrina better than Blanco and ole Nagin.

basically, the youth vote does not show up in November, even if they have record numbers during the primaries. if obamitler had such high youth vote, then why is it that he won mostly in the caucus? hillary trounced him through the majority of the primaries where the voters were allowed to come out and vote.
i have watched many an election, and the oh so large youth vote has never materialized. i think it has something to do with the time of year and the weather. fickle these youth are, but it will be interesting to see what happens in november.
regarding the comments that the polls are wrong cause the youth have cell phones, if that were true then the primary polls would have been off, and the major pollsters were not that far off and were within the margin of error.

What a great speech by Kerry. I’m a Massachusetts boy so I’ve always loved the man, and it was tough seeing him become damaged goods after 2004. I hope this helps his legacy.

So change is defined as tax increases, $2500 cut in health care premiums by nationalizing the system, doing something different in Afghanistan and Iraq (how are they even still talking about this, haven’t they got the memo? We won). Holding Russia accountable, and paying to rebuild Georgia… again if rebuilding Iraq, which we had an active roll in blowing up, is a bad idea then why is it a good one to spend our money on Georgia?
So now, a surge in Afghanistan is a good idea, in Iraq, bad. Sounds like these idiots are just saying anything.

My thoughts:
1. Bill, like me, has a problem with our dependence on foreign oil? Does he think Harry Reid is full of it? After all, Sen. Reid just got done saying how the idea of drilling domestically is just a bunch of snake oil.
2. Do all the press have an advance copy of the speeches, or is it just MSNBC? The captions that quoted Clinton’s prime comments appeared the instant after he spoke them.
3. Clinton wants to harp on the idea that he, like Obama, got a hard time because he was called young and inexperienced. At least Bill was a governor for a decent period of time. I know he was young when he was elected (I was young then, too), but did he get pounded like Obama on the “inexperience” front?
4. Why bring Chelsea into this, Bill? I don’t think that kind of talk is good for your child.
5. Good timing on the American Carol promo on Fox News right after his speech. Looking forward to that movie, by the way.
6. I thought the talking heads yapping away while John Kerry, who spoke right after Clinton, gave his speech was quite amusing. Fox News used the time to give Dukakis a chance to speak while Kerry talked in the background. MSNBC played some patriotic-sounding music behind a taped part of Kerry’s speech, and I don’t think he was even done talking in real time yet.
