ABC reporter throttled in Denver…by police

Something’s definitely wrong with this picture.
An ABC News reporter gets throttled by Denver police outside a hotel for taping Dem senators schmoozing with fatcats.
But nothing happens to these unhinged nutballs? (Related interview at PJM Political.)

Looks like a cigar chomping Nazi.
Great picture. I smell a lawsuit against the Denver police coming.
Nice. Remember how – when I predicted this exact thing happening under Obama – liberals laughed?
Yeah. I was right. They were wrong. As usual.
Wonder when the Obama Police are going to show up on my doorstep and take me away for daring to oppose their horrible candidate.
Do you really think McCain could win this thing? He’s far from great, but beats the hell out of the fascism coming out of Denver.
The obama supporters probably approve of this.
I tell you what, this stuff bho and his team are doing is getting wayyyyyy past the point of being funny. My U.S.A. is gonna be a past memory if this man get to be pres. and the dc bunch give him his way what he wants to do.
L
The dems crow about oppression and GOP aggressions…but with them police actions against free speech and assembly are COOL!
Sgt. Stogie Gone Wild
Props to ABC for trying to follow the money.
This isn’t the denver police I know.
Bemused Lib, what say you now? Bemused?
Hello?
wow, these free speech libs need to get a grip. it’s one thing to say “down with capitalism, now buy my tshirts or give me some spare change,” and a whole nother thing to base your parties mandate on free speech and free press and then see them send in the gestapo when the speech or the speaker is against your ideas. and these people think richard nixon was machiavellian.
Thank goodness we have Obamessiah to protect us from evil, corrupt, right-wing, ABC journalists.
I really appreciate the way he immediately ordered in the Police to deal with this dangerous trespassing on private property outside the hotel. What would happen to America if journalists could stand on sidewalks and film people exiting doors?
It just proves he is opposed to special interests and will protect us against domestic terrorists, too!
I feel safer already.
Don’t you love the one cigar-chomping cop, complete with smug facial expression, applying the arm bar?
Trampling on free assembly with a smiley face.
As I said in the hot air thread It looks link the event was being hosted by Nancy Pelosi.
And she didnt want it seen.
Whats seriously funny (strange that is) is that he was originally kicked off the sidewalk by a Boulder County officer. Those idiots cant even control the hippies in their own jurisdiction – but now all of a sudden they grow nads in a whole OTHER county???
Didnt know that sidewalks were private property but when property owners in Colorado can control who is floating on a river or stream that touches their land, then theres a problem.
Wow, that didn’t take long..and he isn’t even president yet.
I don’t see how that reporter was helping Michelle Obama’s Children.
The paralles between obamas tactics and hitler tactics keep on growing. Except of course the leftists are not using cubs.
Who interview-worthy would be staying at a Comfort Inn?
Well, to be fair the reporter was white. It would have only been an assault if he had been browner.
Is this proof that the Denver PD is color blind when it comes to excessive force. Is this the positive “change” we can believe in?
Sounds to me like the libs are attacking their own. I can’t believe ABC is surprised at this. You can’t give the Obama machine (or DNC machine, whatever) a free pass on all their heavy-handed tactics and then expect them to let you target them.
I heard the speeches last night on ABC radio, and they were using words like ‘SIZZLING!’ and ‘MAGICAL!
Non-biased. Right.
My bad, maybe they thought this guy was JonBenet’s killer too and just didnt want to go over to Thailand and bring back the wrong killer again…..
Papers, please.
The choking incident could have been unrelated to the story he’s was covering. I tend to give the police the benefit of the doubt. The other incident, where the moonbats were following, and harassing Mrs. Malkin, the police are clearly not doing their job. Those hippies are in the wrong because she’s not doing a counter protest. The fat crazy fringe radio host should have been arrested.
MM kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!!!11111
The reporter and crew just got into the way of a group of guys heading to the Denver Eagle for a uniform party. A good time was had by all…
Wait! It was George W. Bush’s fault. Obviously, he ordered the assault. I mean he hates America and hates the press!
If America wasn’t such a racist country and so downright mean none of this would’ve happened. Oh, wait…it’s just a white dude. Who cares!
I was amused by the comments on HotAir from the “career LEO”, because I too am a career LEO – 25 years in the NYC ghetto. His claim that the schmuck with the cigar was not using a choke hold is ridiculous. While not a “hold”, it definitely was a a choke. In NYC and increasingly more jurisdictions – even that technique has been banned outright. Watching that video left me ashamed of my former profession – to think those cops would endanger anyone by pushing them into traffic like that and removing them from a public sidewalk (sorry – there is no such thing as a private sidewalk) while doing nothing more than taking pictures should be dealt with in civil court. Those losers give LEO’s who do their jobs professionally a bad name and are a disgrace to the office they hold. Out of uniform, smoking in uniform, unlawful removal of a person from public property, violating the reporters first amendment rights … any of these would be cause for an NYPD officer to be set down hard and loose at least 30 days pay and refusal of the citys corporation counsel to represent the officer in civil court.
Disgraceful. Nice going, Denver.
LOL. So this is Obama’s fault. BDS will have nothing on ODS. Some of you folks never cease to amaze me. Do you really think there will be facism, and any “non-believers” will be dragged from homes, or are you engaging in unhinged hyperbole?
This is Obama’s fault?
Unbelievable.
Uh, never.
#20 that was a Boulder DA not Denver.
No, there is nothing polical going on in Denver right now. Suppressing a Free Press is not noteworthy. Absolutely nothing going on in the hotel. This is all the same as with GWB. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Maybe not Hitler yet, but Woodrow Wilson to be sure. Another in the line of progressive facists…
mistressjustice,
I don’t think most are blaming this on Obama, I know I am not. But these officers are probably off-duty providing security for hire by whoever hosted the party. That makes the host responsible, even if it is a republican.
I smell a bar-b-que.
Thank you for acknowledging “unhinged hyperbole” and “BDS”. It takes a big girl to admit when she is wrong.
No, I don’t mean you’re fat.
Come, come. They are just trying to protect the Obamessiah’s interests. He would appreciate their efforts as this would be SOP for community organizers and the Chicago police in dealing with nosy and assertive reporters.
Besides, this’ll look good on their resume when they apply for positions in his Civilian Security Force : )
Change you better believe in!
Just wait till they are funded as well as the military.
Really, we have already seen a reporter arrested for trying to cover the dnc and the obama campaign try to have another group arrested for questioning the obama campaign. Never? Looks like never is closer than you think.
Its begining to look like it.
Hmmm….I wonder who the libs would be pointing the finger of blame at if this reporter’s mauling and arrest were happening at the RNC convention? Wait…I think I know the answer! Jack-booted thugs acting upon the orders of Bu$HitlerMc$ame.
/sarc
“Barack Hussein Obama” – - NYTimes mentions his full name.
Did he take the donuts?
What amazes me is that ABC is typically friendly to the DNC. Why would the DNC security bite the hand that promotes them? I thought the policeman was going to push him into the path of traffic. Definitely heavy-handed overkill on the security end.
ABC will still cover for lib viewpoints, police throttling or not.
I can’t sit in a bar and enjoy a cigar with an after dinner drink, but this cop has a stogie in his mouth while he’s apprehending a perp?
I’d sue him for second hand smoke!
Welcome to the 51st state of the U.S.A.: the police state.
Although I’m certainly not defending the cops, they get themselves in trouble here all the time, we don’t know the beginning of the story.
The hotel called the cops, so the reporter was obviously doing something more than standing on the sidewalk taking pictures. There are hundreds of people standing on the sidewalks taking pictures and none of them have been arrested.
Most cops are on a power-trip but I think that can be said for reporters too. Both groups seem to think that the rules don’t apply to them.
FOX News Gets attacked by mob.
Just look at all that peace, love, and tollerance.
On August 28th, 2008 at 1:53 pm, Common Sense said:
No, most cops are not on a power trip.
So, is this good for Michelle’s children?
I concur.
What I wanted to know is that sidewalk public or private, if private how does that happen on sidewalk on a public street. Sue their fascist butts!
Hey, Rusty, lgm and the rest of you left wingers, when did you have the 1st amendment suspended?
Fox reporters attacked:
Where’s the cigar smoking Denver sergeant and his jack-booted bullies?
ABC—Where’s your law suit?…
Dhimmi is the word…..
Denver police action and non-action reminds me of another place in the world>>>

John- Holy cow… Did you see the sign that said something against the war and yet they are physically attacking a news crew? Did you hear and see the baby crying? And screaming facist at the News Crew??? HeeLLLlooo!
Mob violence brought to you by the ‘Love and Peace’ crowd. They’re looking more like radical jihadists every day. I’m B. Hussein and I approved this message.
I wonder what would have happened if the police had not been there to protect the Crew?
New mantra from the Obama camp:
“You must comply! Resistance is futile.”
We’ve just witnessed the man being dragged from a public sidewalk for using a video camera at a huge event. He was doing nothing wrong or illegal.
So the answer to your question is, “Yes”.
look for more if the obamination gets elected!! is this the change his supporters are seeking? I hope not…
And it happened under the Bush administration, so clearly he is at fault, right?
and they say marijuana does make you violent…huh?
I say there isn’t a non pot smoker in the lot of protesters.
So, why aren’t you condemning it, lawyer?
Why yes, Chap – Those are Bush supporters mugging the Camera Crew.
I have grown to expect better from you. If you had an ounce of integrity you would have denounced their behavior immediately and firmly.
Denver police action reminds me of this….
http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2007/06/iranian-regime-forces-young-men-to-suck.html
At least the Denver police show their faces!
I condemn the police’s action. They clearly overreacted and bullied and escalated a situation. Do you both feel better now? Still don’t know why this has anything to do with Obama, except for the fact that the Dems are in town.
They are Denver PD, I have no idea as to their political loyalties. Point is neither does anyone else here.
Gosh, I wonder if those cops are Bush supporters?
Let me see… (/sarc)
Oh. My.
Cliok on John Ansel’s link that shows the MOB attacking the Fox News Crew… I’m pretty sure their political loyalties are clear.
And you must be kidding about the political loyalties of the cops attacking the other film Crew?
No, I don’t feel better. When did I say anything about a connection with Obama?
Don’t misrepresent me.
National politics aside, it could be simply that the Denver cops are dumb as rocks.
Amazing ability you have to look into these guys’ hearts and see their soul. Maybe they hate ABC. Maybe they just hate reporters. Maybe the guy is a close personal friend of the hotel manager. Maybe he was just super cranky that day because all his favorite shows are being preempted for Convention coverage.
That was more a statement about the general tenor of the messages, not your comment.
Yeah. That’s the same thing liberals said about Obama when I said he’d stifle dissent.
EQ – 1
mistressjustice – 0
I think what alot of people here feel is that if this had happened during the RNC convention, it would’ve been headline news. Here, it’s pretty much buried.
Also, the other thing that causes people to raise their eyebrows is that the guy was reporting on DNC folks meeting with big money suporters when this happened.
Maybe this is payback for Stephanapolis asking Obama about Ayers during the primaries.
From all outward appearances it looks like that cigar chomping policeman violated the ABC employee’s civil rights. The incident needs a thorough investigation by the FBI as a civil rights violation. That cigar chomping officer needs to have his ass handed to him PRONTO!
In a “Fairness Doctrine” state, does he get to put a choke hold on the cops?
There is NO mention of this ruckus at ABC news.com. That reporter must not have got the memo about not filming corrupt Dems & their donors.
MistressJustice your cavalier attitiude to this is WHY something like your last question WILL happen, unless your kind are willing to stop, look at yourselves, and truly question your motives for a certain policy you currently favor.
Hubris hits those hardest who think they are most free of it. It can be a disease that afflicts liberals as well as any other political stripe
50 years of living in this great country and I cannot recall ever seeing the press squelched like this….is this dude only guilty of trying to cover a story?
I’m sure that most Romans around 55 B.C. really didn’t think that Pompey, Caesar and Crassus were going to destroy the Republic. “No one would be that brazen, would they?”
And I’m sure that most good Germans in 1933 didn’t really believe that this new-fangled “Nazi” party would one day eviscerate the Weimar Republic.
Most Venezuelans probably would’ve laughed if they were told that Hugo Chavez would use his election to subvert their democracy and set himself up as El Presidente for life of an effectively one-party state.
The point is that the saying “Who dares, wins” isn’t just a catchy slogan for Britain’s SAS. A relatively small group of people who are convinced of their own entitlement to power and have the brass to just go out and seize what they want can leave a whole lot more people scratching their heads and wondering how they managed in such a short time to destroy what everyone until then just assumed would always be the status quo.
That’s typically how representative governments are lost and replaced by totalitarians.
There’s a candidate for president in this country who wrote a book about his favorite subject — himself — that includes the word, “Audacity.” He’s the same guy who wants to use the Justice Department to silence his critics.
Surely he wouldn’t be so brazen … would he?
Stay tuned….
That cop sorta reminds me of a cross between a Jackie Gleason character and Douglas MacArthur with an enlarged prostate problem. Flomax for this guy…
I Hope the poor old b*stard doesn’t lose his pension over this.
Mistressjustice, a person who maintains a little doubt about their beliefs is a wise person
Read this again, and tell me you’re not being serious. No reasonable conservative thinks this way. You are way outside of the mainstream, and left of left field.
Oh cute we’re playing a game. Tell me, what proof do you have that these seemingly thuggish cops are any anyway connected to the Obama campaign? Find me any evidence that this reporter was gripped up at the orders of campaign operatives to hide, or squelch anything. Find me any proof you have of the political ideology of these officers. This is Obama’s fault???
I honestly, sincerely feel sorry for you. The paranoid, unhinged fringe on the Left, and the paranoid, unhinged fringe on the Right like you, live in a world of fear and baseless allegations.
The rest of us in the middle just try to bring level-headed sanity to the discussion. At worse, this looks like a case of mild, police brutality by two cops. Until you have some proof to back of your assertions that Obama is responsible, you’re about as credible as “chicken little”.
I’m not keeping score. I’d rather just keep it real….real rational and sane.
There is; it’s just pretty buried. I saw the video of it on GMA this morning.
This frightens me. And I thought the corrupt cops in The Dark Knight were fictional. :/
Good, reasonable take.
That statement is a very dangerous oxymoron. There is no such thing as “mild, police brutality”…it either is or it isn’t brutality.
I hope that your responses today just stem from having a bad day at work or life, something I definitely understand from personal experience.

I really don’t care what the ABC guy’s political/religious affiliation is, he is making an honest living as far as I can tell.
I hope that your responses today just stem from having a bad day at work or life, something I definitely understand from personal experience
Thanks.
I do think that the cops involved need to be suspended while the Denver police have an investigation. Judging from what we see thus far, what they did was way over the line.
I LOVE how everybody is crazy or insane according to MJ. This indicates she probably needs a therapist.
misstressjustice: If you can’t see the trend here then you are willfully blind. We have a major campign to silence or arrest obama critics without trying to refute what they say and the local police stoping reporters from taking pictures of DNC bigwigs. Call it paranoia if you wish but this is clearly a full court press to stifle dissent which your side keeps on claiming is patriotic. Even a quick glance at the history of dictatorships will show you that this is the first step. Obama can never be president if he starts using the police to crush dissent. We have 2 examples of this now. We will only see more. As for proof that this is obama ordered, well one example clearly is since they sent the letter to the doj demanding that the obama critic be arrested for expressing thier views. The other is not so clear, but any reasonable person would see that a reporter being pushed arround and arrested for taking photos of dnc leaders with moneymen is nothing less than a political party using police powers to supress dissent.
The denver mayor’s office launched an investigation
In fact make that three with the attempt to shut up national review without seriously debating any issue involved.
This reporter was filming lobbyists and DNC politicians together. He was not doing anything illegal, it being a public street and him being a reporter. He was attacked by police.
Given the fact Obama’s camp is circling the wagons about Ayers – and bullying stations that dare to talk about The One’s connections to the unrepentant, anti-American terrorist – it’s a legitimately and reasonable inference that anyone who might say or do anything to cast the Obama administration in a negative light will face consequence.
Those who act on behalf of the Obama campaign or are campaign staffers are working for Obama – the buck stops there.
What part of the First Amendment is unclear to you?
Absolutely. On one hand I fully condemn and, have fought police brutality as an attorney. On the other, these officers have a tough job in Denver this week, and deserve a right to present their case. Things aren’t always as they first appear in these cases. Either way a fully investigation is warranted.
Find me any proof they are not working for Obama!!!!
Denver, is a democrat city run by a democrat administration…
The reporter was documenting fat cat lobbyists and high level democrats coming and going from the most expensive, and exclusive hotel in Denver!
… nuff said
MJ is just another lawyer attempting to hone her skills here at MM. She probably believes half of what she writes.
Look, mistressjustice, when this action is viewed in light of the story being covered by the guy, and in concert with the thuggery being shown by Obama’s campaign in regard to the Ayers’ stuff coming out, there is a strong circumstantial inference that these cops were part of the effort to shut up dissent.
I’m sorry if that offends your sensibilities.
#89, I can’t believe you have this entire thing “figured out”. Oh yeah, nevermind, you don’t have any info. If you’re in Denver witnessing and experiencing these incidents, full disclosure would be nice. Otherwise, you’ve just provided a paranoid rant. You might want a “mulligan” on what you offer as proof of Obama’s involvement in this incident. Seriously.
No. He demanded the DOJ investigate because Obama believes they were violating campaign laws on maximum contributions.
Agreed. Still no proof, though, that anyone connected with the Obama campaign had anything to do with sicing the police on the reporter. Just conjecture, right?
I hope you are kidding with that.
I’m not offended, but I am highly amused that you try to link Obama to this situation. I guess we have a different understanding of circumstantial evidence.
