That was an interesting article. I was particularly struck by Olbermann’s official statement regarding the rap lyrics:

“Gentlemen, I’m the last person to disagree with you on the chicken hawk, lying coward, sexist, racist, needs a face-lift, whore stuff, but you really need to re-cut this track,” Olbermann said addressing the Avengers last week on his MSNBC show “Countdown.

Regarding the rap about killing Bill O’Reilly and Michelle Malkin, Olbermann admits that he agrees with “the whore stuff,” but just the other week, he was absolutely exorcised over Rush’s comment that John Edwards keeps a mistress because “he wanted a woman who could do something else with her mouth besides talk.”

Sometimes I envision the inner machinations of Keith Olbermann’s mind as that of Homer Simpson’s – a windup monkey with crashing cymbals.

Why are you making a non-partisan exhibition into a conservative vs liberal thing? It’s a non-partisan traveling exhibition. The Air Force One replica has always been part of it.

Was the picture that started making the rounds today dated? The expo has been there since the 22nd, with Air Force One.

If there’s life after death, I hope he witnesses what happens in Denver tonight when Obama makes history.

MJ I still don’t like you, but that’s ok.

Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian, that from his mother. What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming “America’s first African-American president” ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative ethnically African Negro – a maternal great-grandparent (Sen. Obama’s great-great grandparent, thus the 6.25% ethnic contribution to the senator’s ethnic composition.).

That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.

So in effect MJ, you’re casting a vote for someone who’s has a majority of his racial makeup of those who threw your race into slavery. This candidate is the biggest farce I’ve ever seen in my life.
He’s Pee Wee Herman with a sun tan.

When Bill Clinton apologized to Africans for America’s role in slavery, he was apologizing to the descendants of those poor slaves first owners; families who were enriched by their selling of their fellow Africans.

I actually like you, Mookie, but let me be clear because you are having a hard time understanding where I am coming from.

The liberal trolls tried to say W’s convention was presumptuous on the scale of Obama’s. I simply argued that W didn’t have:

    1. A replica of Air Force One and (thanks to your link) a whole slew of other simulated presidential trappings in the form of a traveling exhibit.

Obama didn’t make the replica, but the replica (and associated exhibit) was, conveniently, at the DNC convention.

Why are you making a non-partisan exhibition into a conservative vs liberal thing? It’s a non-partisan traveling exhibition. The Air Force One replica has always been part of it.

I’m not. Fact is, it is there. The Obama campaign has been doing their best to make up for “The One’s” lack of experience by trying to make him look more presidential at every turn (EuroTrip, for example). Conveniently, as part of the festivities at the DNC convention, a traveling exhibit of presidential items is on display. Who determines where this exhibit goes? Who booked it for the DNC? If this non-partisan exhibit will also be at the RNC convention, I’ll admit that I am wrong.

Was the picture that started making the rounds today dated? The expo has been there since the 22nd, with Air Force One.

A short while ago I saw a pic of the unpainted Champion Air fuselage on a flatbed with a caption saying it was headed for Denver, so I don’t know.

In 1919, Lenin said, “The cinema must and shall become the foremost cultural weapon of the proletariat.” In addition to “Si se puede,” the “O” hand signs, pastel lights, and little Obama symbols, large crowds of 20-somethings, I wonder, what other symbolism from Triumph of the Will will we see here? I’m not saying this as an ad hominem attack on Obama and his followers. Rather, if folks actually watch Triumph of the Will, they will see striking similarities in terms of communication themes, methods for capturing the imagination through romantic or pride-stirring images, focus on the youth, a lack of focus on systems, methods or policies, etc. Take note tonight of Obama and this event’s ability to strike up emotional fervor through: use of victimization; the telling and retelling of lies meant to convince the weak-minded; the quasi-religiousness of its leader; use of cultist romanticism; and the blame of others for their problems (the rich, the Man, Big Business, etc.) The main difference is that Obama’s message doesn’t have the nationalistic message that “Triumph of the Will” has. Beyond that, they are remarkably similar in their effects.
Here are a few lines. I’ll leave you to decide who said them.
    1. “It is our total belief in ourselves, our hope for our youth, striding forward today, to be called on to finish the work which began…”
    2. “We are who we have been waiting for…”
    3. “The … people are happy in the knowledge that the divisions of the past have been replaced by a high standard leading the nation.”

I like you too and agree that comparing Bush’s backdrop with Obama’s is silly. The exhibition was booked by the Denver ‘08 committee and sponsored by two conservative talk stations, one liberal/progressive station, two music stations and WorthPoint. This is based solely on my opinion but I’m guessing if the Minneapolis ‘08 committee had wanted them, they would have went. I saw this expo in NYC and it’s as straight down the middle as one could get so I cannot imagine they’d turn down the funding.

Wait…are you saying that they booked the expo on purpose to try and give Obama more gravitas? That’s completely possible but it would depend on when it was booked.

I am particularly galled by the way we waste money in the “education” system instead of properly teaching young people from poor backgrounds. I’ll make a deal with you nyk, I’ll shout for money to be spent on kids (instead of administrators), if you’ll tell the black community that studying is not a “white” thing, but the smart thing.
