He cometh; the money tree shaketh

By Michelle Malkin  •  August 28, 2008 09:54 PM

The serfs are restive. Bruce Springsteen blaring on the speakers will mollify them only so much. On with it! The prepared text that The One will read from his teleprompters is here.

9:49pm Eastern. They are seriously playing “Power to the People.”

10:06pm Eastern. The bio video is playing now. I’m watching on TV along with many blogger friends downtown here in Denver. Obama is shown bragging: “I am my sister’s keeper.” But not, blogger Jim Hoft cracks, his brothers’ keeper.

If you’re playing drinking games, take a drink every time the cameras cut away to crowd members crying.

First snort: Obama talking about accepting the nomination with “great humility.”

Second snort: Obama rescues his grandmother from under the bus.

Third snort: He’s talking about treating others with “dignity and respect.” Tell it to Stanley Kurtz.

Fourth snort: The promise of America: Safer toys!

Fifth snort: He said it again: He is his brother’s and sister’s keeper.

Yawn: Big Nanny promises, same old Democrat laundry list. Equal pay for equal work.

Sixth snort: Obama says he’s ready to debate McCain, after backing out of debates he apparently wasn’t ready to have yet.

Seventh snort: The One promises to do it all…

I will end this war in Iraq responsibly, and finish the fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan. I will rebuild our military to meet future conflicts. But I will also renew the tough, direct diplomacy that can prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and curb Russian aggression. I will build new partnerships to defeat the threats of the 21st century: terrorism and nuclear proliferation; poverty and genocide; climate change and disease. And I will restore our moral standing, so that America is once again that last, best hope for all who are called to the cause of freedom, who long for lives of peace, and who yearn for a better future.

Not just a snort. A profanity-inducer: “…what I will not do is suggest that the Senator takes his positions for political purposes. Because one of the things that we have to change in our politics is the idea that people cannot disagree without challenging each other’s character and patriotism.”

Says the man leading the smear campaign against GOP donors and investigative journalist Stanley Kurtz for disagreeing with Obama on his radical ties.

Eighth snort/guffaw/choke: “But I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring. What the nay-sayers don’t understand is that this election has never been about me. It’s been about you.”

I’m looking at Obama’s flag lapel pin. Wonder how many stars are on it?

1a57.jpg

Fireworks. And a diversity prayer.

Meantime, my email box is filling up with Obama campaign donation solicitations.

Talk about milking it:

michelle —

When Barack takes the stage tonight, he’ll look out at delegates from every corner of the country and tens of thousands of ordinary people who are here to be part of this historic moment.

But in the very first row he’ll see a group of people who are there because they took ownership of the political process. Some gave just five dollars.

They’re folks just like you, and they represent more than two million Americans who own a piece of this campaign. Our success would not have been possible without so many people answering the call by giving whatever they can afford.

On this final day before Barack formally accepts the Democratic nomination, please celebrate the moment and lay the foundation for our victory in November by making a donation of $25 or more now:

https://donate.barackobama.com/frontrow

Barack is ready. The crowd filling this stadium at this very moment is ready. And America is ready for the change we need.

It’s within your grasp to make that happen.

Thank you,

David

David Plouffe
Campaign Manager
Obama for America

P.S. — Be sure to tune in to watch Barack accept the Democratic nomination tonight.

And another from MoveOn:

Hi,
I’m writing you from my phone at Denver’s Mile High Stadium. This place is buzzing! Obama will take the stage in a few hours.

But here’s what’s just as exciting: All across the country, people are kicking in to fund our new program to register the Obama generation—I just heard we’ve raised $253,461 already today!

Check out the video I sent this morning about our huge new campaign:

https://pol.moveon.org/donate/voterregvideo.html?id=13632-4503129-RRtaCVx&t=1

You can feel it in the air here—so much energy for Obama! If we harness it, we can turn this whole country around.

Our goal is to register half a million young voters in swing states. We’re working with a terrific new group called Progressive Future. But we still need to fund this campaign. Please help!

Thank you!

From Denver,

–Eli

P.S. I mentioned Progressive Future, a great new group that promotes progressive values through grassroots action. They’re our partners in this—we couldn’t do it alone. Read about them here: http://www.progressivefuture.org

Perhaps they will have a BO supporter undergo an abortion during his speech in front of his temple to provide a human sacrifice to the god of BO. I despise this man and his followers – they stink like Jim Jones at Jonestown and this can only end with tragedy.

I despise him as well. It takes every thing I have to watch him. This speech is an affront to anyone with a couple of working brain cells. He is repulsive to the core.

Not exactly. The “Name it and claim it” theology is heresy, a chocolate-covered mud pie, if you will. It briefs well, but it’s full of what Obama’s stepping in. Instead of a Joel Osteen, we need a Paul Washer or Voddie Baucham. As Jesus said in Matthew, “you will know them by their fruits.” I see Obama’s fruits, and I see where he stands.

He totally missed the reason for the troop withdrawal proposed by Bush and the Iraqis. Totally skipped the surge. What a surprise!

He is going to rebuild the military!

He will fix climate change, genocide, terrorism, my kitchen sink!!

Oh wait, he will “pursue these policies.”

I wonder if he knows the preponderance of soldiers are not Democrats?

Does he know that our fine liberal institutions ban ROTC and other military avenues for the protected, politically correct liberal students?

“Reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies.” Isn’t that abortion?

He did not come out in support of gay marriage, just visiting a partner in the hospital.

“If you don’t have a record to run on, you scare the folks?” Did he really say that? Does he think he has a record? Or achievements? Or anything?

“It’s not about me.” I am just the messiah.

He never changed anything in Illinois or Washington, but now he will do that.

What is that smell coming from the television set?

Are we supposed to believe those cutaways to people in the audience are genuine when you can see the shadow of the camera on them?

This guy is toast. This speech is beyond bland and vague. His only hope is that McCain picks a real clunker for VP.

The GOP knows this isn’t their year and are saving their rising stars (Jindal, Jindal, Jindal) for 2012 or 2016.

I think I have to agree. It is McCain’s “turn,” and Bobby Jindal really is everything the Democrats are trying to make us believe Obama is.

    I can hardly wait.

    This is good.

    Bill Kristol liked the speech.

    Let’s trade these two men.

    The speech had no substance.

Williams has been surprising me with some of his assessments as of late. It speaks well of his objectivity and the fact that he isn’t falling for the Obama BS.
