Palin for America: A true conservative: “She knows when to stand up and doesn’t let anyone tell her to sit down”
Scroll down for updates…vid of the announcement at HA…

The announcement from Dayton will start any minute. There’s a new rock star in town. Conservatives are full of Hope that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will bring much-needed Change to McCain Republicanism.
Catch the fever.
I’m starting a new thread and kicking off discussion with this YouTube ad from Palin supporters.
Yes, I’m impressed. Very impressed.
Flashback: You go, girl: Alaska GOP Gov. will sue Bush administration over polar bear listing

The official statement from McCain:
U.S. Senator John McCain today announced that he has selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate and to serve as his vice president.
Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.
Governor Palin has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources. She leads a state that matters to every one of us – Alaska has significant energy resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.
In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut budgetary spending. She put a stop to the “bridge to nowhere” that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.
As the head of Alaska’s National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation and she understands the importance of supporting our troops.
Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.

The ACU raves:
CONSERVATIVES HAIL MCCAIN VICE PRESIDENTIAL PICK
(Minneapolis, MN) – David Keene, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, has issued the following statement on Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain’s pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.
“The selection of Governor Palin is great news for conservatives, for the party and for the country. Her dedication to principle, her courage both before and after her election as Governor of Alaska and her personal qualities make her a perfect choice for Vice President. I predict any conservatives who have been lukewarm thus far in their support of the McCain candidacy will work their hearts out between now and November for the McCain – Palin ticket.”
***
Jennifer Rubin at PJM:
…Palin will argue that in fact Obama has no more experience than she does, and that Palin has the advantage of sharing McCain’s views (and thus being right) on the surge, Russian ambitions, and meetings with state terror sponsors. The VP debate against Biden may be dicey, but the McCain camp knows full well that a vice-presidential debate isn’t going to make or break their candidate. In short, McCain is hoping that Palin is good enough on this score for a number two pick against a Democratic ticket headed by a man with virtually the same meager national security credentials.
As to the second, Palin has much to offer McCain. On a non-political level few can doubt her Q-factor. (She will be the first former beauty queen to run on a national ticket.) The daughter of a teacher and mother of five, she has an ebullient personality and an excellent TV presence. The Right will be entranced : a pro-life hunter with a passion for domestic energy development? And in the battle for “change” she has the record of reform and the identity of a complete Washington outsider. Finally, as a lifelong NRA member, an outdoorswoman, and a western governor she may provide extra help in mountain and western states such as Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico which are certain to be in play.
On the policy front, Palin can make the case that the Democratic program of higher taxes, more spending, and a government takeover of health care is a proven loser. She will argue that she can bring practical experience from as far outside the Beltway as one can get. And, of course, the presence of a woman on the ticket creates instantaneous excitement and puts into play Clinton voters looking for a new champion.
The pick also tells us something about McCain: he thinks he can win. He was not willing to rock the boat with his conservative base. He can use Palin on offense to make a run at women voters and on defense to blunt the populist attacks from the Democrats. And it shows he understands the need to generate enthusiasm and “newness” in his own campaign.
Ed Morrissey: Change conservatives can believe in!
LifeNews has an excellent overview of Palin’s staunch, pro-life activism.

12:22pm Eastern. McCain: It is with great pride and gratitude that I tell you that I have the right partner for those who value their responsibilities over their privileges, someone who has fought corruption, stopped government from wasting taxpayers’ money…someone with executive experience, who has shown great tenacity and skill in tackling tough problems, especially our dependence on foreign oil, someone with strong principles, a fighting spirit, and deep compassion, someone who grew up in a decent, hard-working middle-class family…
Good stuff: “She knows when to stand up and doesn’t let anyone tell her to sit down…She’s exactly who I need, she’s exactly who this country needs…”
Really good.
The next vice president of the United States, Gov. Sarah Palin of the great state of Alaska.
Huge roar of applause. Huge.
Obama-Biden has to be in full snit-fit mode.
And Hillary must be experiencing a schadenfreude-licious moment right now.
It’s McCain’s birthday and the Palins’ 20th anniversary today.
12:44pm Eastern. Palin gives props to Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton. “The women of America aren’t finished yet…We can shatter that glass ceiling once and for all!”
Palin coopts the Hope and Change mantra. Sweet.
Audience coopts “Yes, we can!” Sweet.
God bless America!

Everything I have heard about Gov Palins record is positive but I had initial and hav lingering misgivings that McCain has miscalulated the vote in not choosing Romney
dakine said:
Well true she has a nascent political career. Personally I like her; having researched her quite some time ago. Consider it’s not about what you or I think it’s about what the woman voter thinks and, as you know, they don’t think like us.
Ugly American,
You want to…hell, JUST DO IT, BABY!
But what we really need to look at is whats the lib media talking about? Pailin not whats his name’s speech last night
aj, I’m voting for McCain/Palin. I just don’t think they’re going to win.
GK, I hear ya. From the little I know, Palin seems like a very fine person. I just don’t think she’s any where near qualified to be VP. McCain’s handlers wanted a young, pro-life, culturally conservative woman and she was about the only one they could find. He swung for the fences, and you may very well be right that this could be the exceptional case where the VP choice actually impacts the election based on the “woman voter” thing to which you refer. Hope I’m wrong.
dakine said:
You’re wrong.
The way people have been savaging Palin today… and you know it will continue. There are a lot of angry Hillary voters who think she was mistreated because she is a woman. How the media treated a liberal woman is nothing compared to how they will attack a young, conservative, attractive woman.
The Left is playing with fire, and it will boomerang.
I am so happy, I am verklempt.
Maybe Trollman, but I don’t think so. This pick looks desperate. It also reeks of pandering. Query for you: would you feel the same way about this pick if everything else being equal, Palin was a he rather than a she? Identity politics?
ZOMG!!!! I so called this like 3 months ago!!!! Thank god I was right, I was was SOOOOO worried he was gonna pick Lieberman. I like Lieberman and all but that would have given the messiah the election!
My bad. I was misinformed.
Politically, I still think this was a smart move by McCain. It gets his conservative base behind him. The Obama campaign will also have a hell of a time figuring out how to attack her. Biden will have a tricky time debating her when you think about possible viewer perceptions. He’ll also have to be prepared to answer this question, that everyone knows will come up in the debate:
Senator Biden, do you think Governor Palin has enough experience to be president?
He better have a airtight answer prepared. During the campaign, I’d ignore her and concentrate on McCain. The media will take care of Palin. Some Hillary supporters are uneducated idiots who will simply vote for a woman. I believe the vast majority of female Hillary supporters will see that McCain is “peeing on their leg, and telling them it’s raining”.
Anyway, the next two months will be fascinating.
dakine said:
I disagree. I think the Biden pick looks desperate. Mr. New & Change & Fix Washington was forced to pick an old Washington insider – who voted for the war in Iraq, etc.
dakine said:
Personally, I don’t care that she is a woman. I don’t care if a politician is a man, woman, black, white, whatever. I like the fact that she is pro-life, pro-gun, anti-corruption, and that she is a real person. She doesn’t look or come across as a politician, she looks like one of us – she looks like a soccer mom.
But obviously, her being a woman will influence other people to vote for her. So what? Since many Americans (especially those on the Left) vote for silly reasons (she’s a woman, he’s black, she is related to so-and-so, he can give a really great speech), it is better that they vote for my candidate for a silly reason than for them to vote for the other guy for a silly reason.
Personally, I gag every time I hear this is historic just because of his skin color or her gender. Give me a break. I don’t see those things as issues anymore. I’ll be glad when we have had at least one of everything so hopefully (I know, not gonna happen) we can move past this petty stuff.
More than anything else, I am looking for someone who shares my core principles. That is the best leader.
I had been hoping for Romney, but Palin is soooo much better because she is a true believer – I don’t have to wonder about if she is really pro-life. That she is a woman that will likely pull in extra votes, how is that a bad thing from my perspective?
Does she not have enough experience? Did George W Bush have enough experience? Did Ronald Reagan have enough experience? I’m willing to give Palin the benefit of the doubt. Now if she really stinks it up with her convention speech and during the VP debate, then I will break out the Tums. But I think she is a straight shooter, and will be more than a match for either Biden or Obama.
I mean, c’mon, there is video footage of her shooting an M-16 for kicks. I think she is plenty tough enough to handle the likes of thugs like Putin and so forth.
No, no…I was commenting that the Obama supporters were making that slaim. They have been saying she is selfish for wanting a career and to become Vice President when she should be home with her children. I was showing just how hypocritical they are.
I believe a woman who stays home raising their children has it rough. I have an inside line on that as it is what I have been doing for a year now since retiring and waiting to go back to school.
However, I think it is and should be a choice and decision between a woman and her husband…not something forced on her or dictated to by sour grapes frightened Obama voters.
Mistressjustice:
Funny the above is what some conservative bloggers have claimed about McCain doing to conservaives…still its delicious to know that it is not MY LEG he is peeing on…just those legs that belong to the Hillary-ites’and Obamaniacs
….aahhhhhhhh!
The only thing I like about this is the current electoral college spread. It’s changed dramatically where Obama only has a 10 point lead. Many states that were questionable are heading toward red. Maybe Palin can get those blue collar guys and PUMAs. She’s got a lot of work to do. I’m behind her though; I’ve always liked strong minded women.
You have it, Trollman. But we shouldn’t discuss it. The other side is reading and we don’t want to help them.
They do know it. And they don’t care. They want to punish the DNC.
Hell hath no fury and all that.
Powerprosaid:

It doesn’t matter, they cannot help themselves.
I saw Olbermann tonight. He and his buddies were openly laughing and mocking her. They said she made Obama look like John Adams in comparison (experience wise). Then they laughed and snorted aloud.
Bob Beckel, on Fox News, said Palin made Dan Quayle look like Thomas Jefferson in comparison.
Keep deriding her experience, accomplishments, and intellect, folks. Hell hath no fury like a woman voter scorned.
This is so much better than “Mrs. Smith Goes to Washington.” Sarah Palin is already a proven reformer who took on her own party and won. (When has Obama or Biden ever stood up to their party?) I could see a strong Reform Movement growing around her during the campaign and hope she also campaigns with reform-minded Republicans from around the country to throw out the corrupt Democrats. (Maybe we’ll even have a majority and get some work done.) She appeals to so many because she is an outsider who has proven she won’t back down. And she is not a career politician who is indebted to lobbyists – she embodies the qualities of Citizen politician, which many of us idealists have been yearning for.
Second cinema citing – look at how ifectious the John Doe Clubs were in “Meet John Doe.” The public really started to think that they mattered – not just Washington insiders. I think Palin brings this out in many.
I HOPE Nobama gets a sex CHANGE. It’s the only card he’s got LEFT to play.
The basic bottom line is that Obama has petered out, and did so months ago. The conservative base has been ignored and unused by the McCain camp…they have untapped grass roots energy available to add for McCain’s candidacy whereas the Obamaniacs are tapped out and cannot add more…. McCain and Obama are tied…Palin’s pick as McCAins vP puts overdrive in McCain’s favor all he needs to do is shave 5% more voters (disgruntled conservatives) and its over…no other choice would have done that for McCain.
So let twits like Olberman, Beckel writhe over Palin….I would be nervous if they were not concerned…their suffering is a good thing.
I was filling my flask to take into the voting booth ,too! I expected to need a couple of shots of brandy before I was going to be able to pull the handle for McLame! I guess I will need less then one shot now! Sarah Palin is the best choice McAmnesty could possibly have made!
I’ve found nothing. And it’s probably because it’s not an issue for Palin, being in Alaska.
Don’t expect to hear what you want on this issue from her. She will have to conform to McCain’s policy.
I want the damned fence built. And I think that’s the only thing we can possibly hope for from a McCain administration on this issue.
For the next 4 years, we should work on aaccomplishing that, then we can address the rest of the problem in 2012.
Well, too much fun for one day. I am off to bed.
As for those that scoff her…consider the source.
Oh…Sorry….clicked too soon before I had a chance to say good night.
Good night all.
ROFL!!! You’re right. And I’m so happy to be wrong!
So true. The momentum of the campaign has changed dramatically. We have to steer and push it to victory now.

And PUMA has lots of upset Hillary supporters:
and
When McCain taped his Thursday message to Obama, I believe the timeline says he had already offered the job to Palin at his Sedona house.
No wonder McCain sounded so gracious and then comfortably said, “We’ll be back at it tomorrow.”
Delicious.
Say after me everyone…”Conservatives united can never be defeated!”
.
This is going to be fun. History will be made, one way or another, and it looks more likely now that it will be the right history.
Even more Hillary supporters will go for McCain now. Obama is no longer a near certainty. Heaven forbid something happens to McCain, but I believe Palin would rise to the occasion. She has the right attitude. Everyone knows Obama is NOT ready for POTUS, Palin is only for the VP. Look at Dan Quayle.

The first thing the democrats said was she has no experience. My question is what leadership experience does Joe Biden have? Has he ever been a military leader? Has he been a legislative leader? (Being a senator is not leadership) Has he been and industrial leader? The answer is no, as far as I can see he has never been a leader. All he has ever done is sit on the sideline and criticize those who do lead. If you ask the same questions about the “one” and you fine the only thing he has ever lead is a failed project. On the other hand Sarah Palin is the chief executive officer (governor) of a state whose neighbors are two foreign countries. In my book that is more experience than either of the democrats have.
Just got done reading the PUMA web site and they are over joyed and mostly voting for Sarah Palin. BOstill has no idear what is coming his way!!!
The youngest president was Theodore Roosevelt at 42. He replaced McKinley who died a week after being shot by an anarchist.
Anytime you can bring Star Wars into the discussion, I’m game.
As for foreign policy, all one needs to know is that it is a hostile world out there. And if you wish to gain respect you look out for your own interests, that of the USA. I am pretty sure that she has that in mind a whole lot better than the liberals. China didn’t need Bill Clinton’s help in their rocket program, but they got it anyway, does anyone think that selling out your country for a few bucks gains respect? Or being more interested in young interns than in foreign policy?
Sarah can speak off the cuff so to speak, I believe she will be the star in speaking and debating.
This is sad. Check out the kos idiots already going after the baby, the teenage daughter….
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/29/17933/7330/417/579267
The libtards are squealing like stuck pigs, so McCain hasn’t lost his aim. I’d say it’s a bullseye right between Ayers and Wright.
I can’t wait for Biden and Co. to massively underestimate their opponent and start talking about experience and judgment. How can they even bring these things up??? I like Romney, but am thrilled with Palin.
greysheepdog said:
Yeah, it is sad what people are doing.
But watch, if they keep this up, Palin will stand up for her children and lay the smack down on them that only a she-lion can when her cubs are in danger.
And Americans every where will cheer her on for it.
Unlike Obama & Biden who pretend to be “real, blue collar America”, she actually is America. The contrast will be stark.
she-lion = lioness
Duh.
Wow….Mccain just handed Obama the election. Can anyone name one foreign policy position of Palin. Her views on Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Al-Qaeda, Russia??? Any idea?? This is a dangerous time to be picking someone with ZERO stated thoughts on the greatest issues of our time. When asked about Iraq a few months ago she said she doesn’t have time to think about it too much, she is too focused on her state. She just destroyed Mccain’s argument that Obama is not ready to lead. Also, he destroyed his argument he puts country first. He put party and getting elected first.
Meanwhile Obama’s propaganda outfit is imploding O’Reilly mentioned this on the Factor. The Palin pick sent them into a tailspin. Hmmm….who saw this coming? well just about everybody.
http://imustimes.wordpress.com/2008/08/30/msnbc-about-to-blow-up-lol/
I am sure we will find out her views over the next two months. However, she has proven her ability to lead in her executive positions as mayor and governer. What has BO led? Can you tell me that? And yes, we know BO’s positions about having tea and crumpets with the dictators of the world, but having a stated position doesn’t make it the right position. He is an empty suit, she is a proven leader who practices what she preaches. And, by the way, I doubt she was sitting in an America-hating racist church for 20 years. Puh-leeze.
Is this a record for number of comments? I’m impressed at the amount of energy this pick has generated, especially after Obama thought that his ego would fill up the universe during his speech. This won’t be helping MO’s kids get bedrooms in the White House!
freemind25 said:
Yes, I do. I have an idea that it isn’t going to involve saying “Iran is a tiny country & is no real threat to us”. It isn’t going to involve having tea with terrorists like the leader of Iran. Just a hunch…
Hey, chump : Since you are trying to convince us not to be feel comfortable voting for a ticket with an “inexperienced” (see note below) Vice Presidential candidate, why on earth would you ever consider voting for the ticket with an inexperienced PRESIDENTIAL candidate?
(…not to mention that her executive experience trumps both Obi ‘n’ Joe’s combined…)
LOL…this is hilarious. Yea she will fire up the base, but the base is alot smaller than it used to be. Maybe 20% of the country tops. Obama has been in the national spot light for nearly 4 years and people STILL claim they don’t know who he is. We are expected to find out all of Palin’s views in two short months??? Oh and thanks for pointing out what already thought NOBODY KNOWS HER VIEWS ON NATIONAL SECURITY!! Heres some help on her view one of the most important issues facing this nation: Iraq.
Great argument moron. Consider VP lends itself to on the job training, 143-days-Obama for President does not. Palin isn’t about “the base” it’s about the women vote which decides this election. Lol. Get up a little earlier in the morning if you can’t come up with a better argument.
Iraq is no longer a hot issue moron. Withdrawl dates have been signed. Get up to speed dude. Bush is gone. The women decide this election.
Reminder: of all the harping and teeth gnashing about Sarah Palin’s lack of experience (being a heartbeat away from the presidency):
Bill Clinton’s experience, prior to his presi-duncy, was that of a governor of Arkansas. I do believe Sarah Palin probably has a bit more foreign experience since Alaska borders with Russia and Canada and she is the Commander of their National Guard who fly near those border.
I wanted Romney but now think Palin is the best choice.
Yea, its a bit of a stretch, but I know where he stands on all of the issues. I’ve read both of his books, followed his career since 2004. I saw how he has handled himself on the world stage and in over 20 debates. I know he has a firm grasp on all the issues and I agree with his positions most of the time. Although he has been in the Senate for a short period time, he has worked across the aisle on substantive issues such as Ethics Reform, GI Bill, and Nuclear Proliferation. He represented his state senate district which has a larger population than Alaska, for 8 years. In the State senate he passed ethics reform, healthcare bill, education reform, major crime bills, etc. As for executive experience, I guess Palin is more experienced than Mccain than, as he has 0 executive experience. Although I guess you could say running a campaign is executive experience. How has Obama fared with that?
Me thinks in the military it’s called “getting outflanked.” But we’ll see, the libs and Obama are scrambling. Bet you wish you assh*les didn’t ditch Hillary now. There is a bond between women that crosses party lines you will find.

The reason why the base is so small is because Republicans have been corrupt and no longer stand for conservative ideals. She is a conservative and will increase the size of the base, just look at people’s response on this site.

That is because Obama does everything he can to hide who he really is. Not so with Palin. With just her speech yesterday, I already know far more about her guiding principles than I do about Obama’s.
Big difference between a strong woman like Palin and a shrill harpy a la Hillary or Bela Pelosi.
McCain/Palin in a landslide.
History will be made no matter who wins now.
Pretty good comment session, Someone may have said this?….but the MSN and old Byden being what they are are going to have to tell her to “SIT DOWN”…I can’t wait…will be wounderfull…..
Actually, we DO know who he is and it is terrifying. Why doesn’t it bother you that he fraternizes with terrorists and haters? That he has buddies like Rezko? That he is THE MOST LIBERAL SENATOR of them all??? If what is known about your little friend BO doesn’t scare the hell out of you, your opinion is meaningless, as you obviously have the same poor judgment (to say the very least) as B. HUSSEIN O.
One may say they “know where a candidate stands on all of the issues,” but seeing as how many of those stands are just plain wrong, that’s just another nail in The Obamboozler’s campaign coffin.
And…I can only imagine his “work across the aisle in the Senate” included the trips across the hall to get to the bathroom. “Puffed-up resume” fake claims of activity and accomplishments only serve to underline the charlatan that is The Obamboozler.
Hmmm, let’s see how excited those Hillary supporters are for Obama, shall we?
LOL the more I see a lack of a cognitive argument for Palin on any issue other than social issues and energy the more confident I am this election will be a landslide. Mccain is 72 years old the actuarial odds of him passing in the next few years is nothing to sneeze at. Ask yourself, is she prepared to go toe to toe with Vladimir Putin? Does she know anything about the situation in Georgia? Pakistan? Iran? Iraq? Maybe she does, so far I haven’t seen it. The unabashed support for her without knowing her views on these issues are laughable. I thought that terrorism was the most important issue of our times. I thought Russia is ready to refight the Cold War. Shouldn’t you find out how well versed she is on these issues before offering full throated support. Oh, and the more you mention Wright, Ayers, him being a radical, the more confident I am Obama will win this election. It reeks of desperation.
So, ‘m having trouble getting back to sleep, decided to go slumming into Unholy Lands in places like Democratic Underground to see what types of filth are being said over there. I know, I know…I was most definately a “Pilgrim in an unholy land”, but I have seen bodies and brains smeared on the pavement and worse in my career, so I figured that I could handle it. What I found there was both interesting and beyond disgusting. Thought I would share some of it for your perusal and discussion.
The first one I find to be very telling. It seems that the things these “Caring and tolerant” Liberals are saying are really turning off their “base”. McCain’s choice just may have been even better than he thought she was. It appears as though the common Dem and basic Liberal is getting quite an education in those that they are aligning themselves with, and are going to find out that everything they have been told about Conservatives and Republicans are nothing more than filthy lies told by these types. Check it out:
Wow…just how many more like this person are there?
So, what got her to make this statement? Apparently they are claiming that she was never pregnant and that her new-born is actually her daughters and that she lied about the whole thing, for one:
Questioning whether or not she is lying about her child having DS? Excuse me? Or maybe it was something like this:
Believe me when I say there are much worse that I can’t even think to share or re-post here. There is also a great deal of editting going on. I am not sure whether to encourage folks to go see for themselves or not…that is your own choice but if you do, be prepared to be left with the worst taste in your mouth given to you by people that for years have claimed to be “Champions For Women’s Rights” and tolerant, non-judgemental, non-sexist and any number of other terms. Yup, from the people that brought you Political Correctness, this is how they treat a woman who is not, “One Of US”.
Sorry about the length of the post. The editing of the language was mine…they do no such thing.
Pretty damned lousy I’d say.
How many retractions?
-”No Experience…um, congrats, historic pick, blah, blah, blah!”
His Sermon in the Temple of Narcissus and it’s MSM toungebath interrupted by McCain’s blockbuster pick.
His campaign wasn’t ready for this. And combined with the inevitable bounce from the convention (and the newly energized conservative base), methinks it’s coming to twilight time for Obama’s 15 minutes.
His desperate thrashings will increasingly show women that what democrats say and what democrats do, are polar opposites.
Read this over at Patterico – when she a member of the ethics council in AK, and resigned in protest over the conduct of members of the council that were part of the machine, she wrote an editorial that stated “the only difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom is the lipstick”. She was also know as “Sarah Barracuda” due to he competitiveness on the B-ball court, and her approach to clearing out corruption in city government.
This does not sound like a person that you want to lie to or steal from at any time…
Uhmm.. John McCain’s military service more than qualifies. It’s called leading people. Where has Obama or Biden actually done any leading of people.
BTW, how are Doprah’s ratings faring lately?
RetFireman—the truth shall set you free. The Dems trashed Hillary, Geraldine Ferraro and others and their supporters aren’t going to forget it. They are pouring gasoline on an open fire. They scream about negative ads, but what you posted is who they really are. Makes you want to take a shower. God bless Governor Palin and her family, all of who will be trashed by the left.
NCBLUE…hmmmm…so its ok to trash a man (Obama) but a women cannot be. That is the definition of sexism. Shouldn’t she be held to the same standards as any other candidate??? Republicans trashed Obama as unfit to lead, an America hating, arugala eating, snob. That was perfectly fine. Switch the gender and all of a sudden that is out of bounds?
Thanks RetFireman,
I love seeing these dems exposed for what they truely are.
Obama’s parting of the Red Sea turned out to be only low tide.
So much for BO’s non negative campaign.
Telling the Truth is not trashing someone.

Wow, you’re one of those intellectually superior guys aren’t you? How the hell do you figure the more Ayers and Wright are brought up the more people will vote for Obama? As for foreign policy experience Obama is relying on Biden for that; a guy who suffered from a brain aneurysm. You really going to present an argument that centers around McCain dies 3 weeks into office? The ‘what if’ premise of your argument is weak dude. Show me a smoking gun.
Are you serious? of course you must be, seeing as how you are voting for a Socialist who is so knowledgable about world events and Foreign Affairs that he has pledged to gut the military, end R&D for weapons and pull out all our missiles whether Russia does the same or not.
But let’s just look at what this little quote of yours says:
Why how DARE she put the workings of the State she is Governor of over those of the Nation when she has nothing to do with how the country is run. Sounds to me like a responsible Governor, instead of what the Dem governors were attempting to do…which actually was against the Constitution. However, she also has a son who enlisted in the Army and is about to be deployed to Iraq in a few days. Do you REALLY think that she is not knowledgable about what is going on in Iraq? Then again, you are being either completely dishonest, or you are just quoting off your Lib sites which have NOT shown the entire quote she made concerning that statement. In that statement she also stated she was looking for dates of withdrawl etc. You kow…the same thing Dems are asking for. So actually, she is more in line with them on the subject than the Republicans. Why don’t you do yourself a favor and get the info yourself instead of relying on proven frauds and liars like the DU and Kos and HuffPo.
How does making her his VP candidate put party and self first? how does it not put country first? She is an educated, well rounded, smart woman who has nothing but what is best for her local area, state and country in mind. Please provide the proof that demonstrates she is only thinking of herself and not her constituents in anything she has done in her political life. If she cares that much about the constituents of the town she was mayor of, (regardless of population, still more than either Dem candidate had done…even Hill-Dawg) and then cares that much for the citizens of the state she governs, one that borders two foreign countries, one of which is attemptong to begin a new Cold War and is making movements such as could lead to a Nuclear Showdown and potential third world war, and again, something more than what the Dem Candidates, and even Hill-Dawg cannot lay claim to doing, how can you possibly make the statement or come to the conclusion that she will not put her entire effort into becoming a strong, knowledgable, efficient and even popular Vice President who would put her country first.
Even the sexist claims you Lefties are making concerning how she should be “home raising her children and taking care of her family” eludes to the fact that she is putting her country first.
You and all the rest of the Dems have made some of the weakest, mist biased and feckless arguments against her as the VP nominee that I think has ever been made. Even her speech yesterday was intelligent, well spoken and completely devoid of “Umm’s” and “Ahh’s” that are so prevalent in both The Golden Calf’s and Biden’s speeches.
If the things you guys are listing as reasons not to have her as Vice President are the best you can come up with, then you most certainly should NOT be voting for “Big Ears/Big Mouth `08″, because each and every one of them could be said for your guys…only more so.
With the announcement of Sarah Palin, there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth in the world of Demoncrats.
Thank God that John McCain chose to listen to the growing roar from conservatives.
Patriotic Americans who happen to be Republicans, Independents, or Democrats (but not Demoncratic Socialist Communists) will come out in large numbers to vote joyfully for the ticket with Sarah Palin on it.
To quote the third Indiana Jones movie (the last crusade), John McCain has “chosen wisely”.
“THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PITBULL AND A HOCKY MOM IS THE LIPSTICK”
I want THAT on a bumper sticker.
McCain was an officer in the Navy, as well as a fighter pilot. If you really do not know how that equates into experience in leadership, I would like you to do some research into what it means to be an officer in any branch of the military, much less a fighter pilot.
What, exactly, constitutes leadership experience for either Obama or Biden? Anything? Bueller? being a Senator is hardly leadership, and being a Senator for less than one term is even less. And do not even start thrashing McCain about his leadership in the military, because that is the ONLY thing kerry ran his campaign on four years ago that all you Lefties were doing flips and twists about. McCain actually finished his service and didn’t whine about getting let out after 3 months for a splinter, nor did he chase down and shoot an unarmed teen-ager in the back.
As for her executive experience, again even mayor of a small town is better than anything with Dem has done. Add to that running an HONEST campaign for Governor of a state that is heavily populated with men, outnumbering women 20-1, shows that she is trusted and can get things done. She is a widely popular governor as well, with upwards of 80% approval ratings. Hell, she does all that and still has time to be with her family…something that Obama admittedly does NOT do, with his own children stating on record that they go upwards of ten weeks at a time without seeing their father. She also sees her children as a “Blessing” and not the “Punishment” MichelleO would not wish on her own children. If that is MichelleO’s view of a potential grandchild, how does she feel about her own children?
I might add that even after his capture by those poor, put-upon, fellow Socialists and Communists known as the Viet-Cong, McCain even took a leadership role there instead of rolling over and giving up.
And I challenge you to find “questionable’ friendships in palin’s background. It is not as if she will be found to have Socialists, race-baiting preachers, admitted terrorist bombers and cop killers and other associated honor students in her address book under ‘Friends, Mentors and People I Admire”.
If you can’t choose your friends well and your perception of character is as good as Obama’s, I really doubt you can be trusted with Foreign Affairs decisions and diplomacy.
Could someone remind the Peanut Gallery of The Golden Calf’s statements on Ahmadinijad and Iran? I think those alone can show that his ability to gauge people and their characteristics have not improved any, let alone his ability to understand the dangers we face and who this country can trust.
I just don’t see Sarah sitting down for a friendly, non-judgemental chat over coffee with an Islamic Dictator who has stated it is his destiny to bring about the next Caliphate.
And if you do not know what needs to happen in order to bring that about, you have no business questioning wither McCain OR Palin’s qualifications in Foreign affairs.
Obama on children: “Punishment”
Palin on her child with Down’s Syndrome: “A blessing from God”
And freemind will not engage my arguments especially about the significance of the “woman vote.” So I’m calling this one a paper tiger.
Well, here we go. Now we will see just how completely and utterly ignorant the
left truly can be. Someone needs to tell them to go bone up on their basic biology.
Apparently the baby with Down Syndrome is supposed to belong to her teenaged
daughter and not to Sarah Palin? It is my understanding that it is far more usual
for an “older” Mother to give birth to a Down Syndrome baby than a teenager.
Besides…that old ploy of the Mother taking credit for her daughter’s out of wedlock (how’s that for an old term?) baby went away in what? the 1970s at the
latest. There are A LOT of teenage Mothers nowadays and I don’t see some
elaborate cover up here.
I do think we are going to see the Lefts true colors displayed for everyone who will see to see in these next two months.
I don’t see her sitting down for a “friendly” chat with Joe Biden, either. Can’t wait for the debate!
BTW John McCain was captured by the North Vietnamese, not the Viet Cong.
freemind25, please show me a Palin quote that is anywhere near as stupid as Obama’s [first] take on Iran being a tiny country and no real threat?
You know, cuz a tiny country, even if it did develop nukes, is still a tiny country and therefore no threat to us. If a tiny country is no threat to us, then how can Obama claim that Osama is a threat to us that needs to be taken out? He isn’t even a tiny country!
Uhh… ummm… uh…
I’m actually excited to pull the lever for McCain/Palin,even though in lib Wa state my vote doesn’t count much. What a refreshing change to have a normal person running and not another elitist snob from Harvard.Someone who does know the working class people and the fact her son is in the military as mine is also she will serve our armed forces well, and is proud of her country, unlike Barry and Michelle.I tell you I’m so sick of their trashing our country I hope he’s thrown out on his ear.
Have talked to several friends this morning who swear that BHO is trying to figure
out how to dump JB for HRC. They haven’t said this is a joke, but probably is.
However, as I said on another thread, I would be that this conversation has taken
place in the last 24 hours.
Where’s that Obama post convention bounce now?
Retfireman
I’d like to second your responses to that “guy” (not feeding troll). We are truly fortunate to have educated, not strictly emotional, people on this blog. The posts you pasted here are disgusting and I wouldn’t want to read the ones you can’t post. Losers.
the conspiracy theory that they are coming up with on this issue is far more convoluted than this. They are basing this theory on a picture someone posted, claiming it was of their family a few months before the birth, showing the eldest daughter in a tight shirt and she has a bit of “baby-fat” around her middle, and that Sarah “never looked pregnant” and how they kept the pregnancy quiet until just before the birth.
The picture is more likely from 2006, based on the ages of the children in the picture. They are also claiming that she is faking the fact that her child has DS and is using it as a ploy to get elected, claiming the child looks more “eskimo” than he does DS so obviously that is the truth.
They are claiming that the doctor was unethical and should be brought up on charges for even suggesting that the amniotic test be given, and she is a horrible person for placing her unborn child at risk for having the test.
As for the teen-age daughter, they claim she was not in school “due to mono” just before the birth so obviously it was the reason she was not seen…she was very pregnant and having the child.
They are calling for medical records, insurance records and anything else to prove the child is not Sarah’s, but indeed her grandshild.
When anyone brings up just how wrong such a conspiracy theory is, they are basically shouted down, told that “anything is on the table”, that she is a Republican and obviously is not beyond the pale for doing something like this, etc.
I am telling you, disgusting does not go far enough in describing what they are saying.
How scared and desperate are they to come up with something like this?
Someone also posted a really, really bad photoshop picture of the cover of Vogue magazine where someone had placed her face on the body of a really skinny model and claimed it was Sarah at 7 months pregnant, thus obviously he is her daughter’s child. They are just that sick.
Like I said, I can’t recommend people following over there to read for yourself, but were you to do so, I can guarantee you will never look at another Liberal or Democrat the same way again, even if they are members of your own family.
Wow, finally something you Malkinites and us Obama supporters can agree with. We are both happy with Palin as the VP pick. Watch the polls in the next month…you will find that this was an incredibly poor choice.
ooops…Didn’t finish my thought:
My mistake. I apologize for the mis-naming of the bastards (read admirers of John Kerry who loved what he stood for so much they placed his picture in a museum thanking him for what he did for their ’cause’) that captured him
Oh, we will be watching…and laughing. not sure if you have been paying attention the last 24 hours and have noticed just how fired up his pick made us, and how enthusiastic people have become about voting for McCain/Palin.
Then again, you should remember that denial is not just a river in Egypt. You seem to be steeped in it, and your comment shows your fear.
Might I remind all those who are rooting for McCain’s survival or demise regarding his age that his mother is still alive and coherent. Didn’t she say she’d vote for him but hold her nose? Hope Sarah changes her attitude.
Fixed it for ya
TheOtherSide said:
Yeah, uh-huh. Michelle Malkin & the rest of us were all going to vote for McCain, but now that he picked Palin as his running mate, we are all demoralized.
TheOtherSide said:
Wow where can I get your magic 8 ball dude? Lol.
Thankfully, TOS doesn’t get to tell us how we should feel. Thankfully the DimocRats don’t get to tell us who has or has not enough experience to do the job. Thankfully the polls are usually wrong. Thank God we live in the United States of America where the PEOPLE still choose who we want to lead us. And I don’t think we are ready for a Socialist as a president but we are ready to elect a ticket with a woman as VP. Personally I’d prefer to flip the ticket but this is a start.
