Poll time: Are you pumped?
I know a large number of michellemalkin.com readers have shared my deep-seated reservations about John McCain. Those reservations — especially regarding border security, the environment, campaign finance, and his Soros flirtations — remain. And you know I will not hesitate to pound on them. But the Palin VP choice appears to be a huge step forward for movement conservatism. She is the real deal.
Today’s poll question: Are you on board with McCain/Palin?

I want to see the Barracuda start taking chunks out of Mccain on ANWR, amnesty, etc.
I believe she will change his mind on some key issues and only then could I support McDementia.
Sarah Palin is already up as a Featured Candidate at Free and Strong America PAC.
As for the Obamanites in the MSM, the more they snipe at Palin, the more I like her.
Too Funny this isn’t the way the script was written.
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelstein/2008/08/29/palin-impact-mitchell-asks-remember-barack-obama
What I think is that McShame is simply ‘pandering’ to Conservatives, and not really ‘listening’ to them. Time will tell.
He’s still the same loser candidate he was yesterday. I’ll see if Hernandez stays on board and if he keeps sqawking about Amnesty in 100 days.
The choice is brilliant on his part though. I’m sure after floating the pro-abortion balloon over Red County only to have it shot down within minutes, he realized he needed to switch directions.
IF the rumors were not true about him considering a pro-abortion VP, he should have renounced the rumor loudly and firmly. But he didn’t.
This whole race has been like watching two candidates running backwards. This will propel him forward for a change. I guess I’m also concerned how being linked with McShame will effect Palin. Time will tell.
As opposed to what - Obama, who changes positions daily, depending on his audience? Or Biden, who has to plagiarize his? McCain isn’t “endorsing” the religious right - they aren’t running for anything. Quite the opposite, it would seem. You’d have to show me proof that McCain has endorsed torture, since everything I’ve ever seen from McCain is quite the opposite, including his intention to close Gitmo (a massive mistake, of course). He voted against Bush’s tax cuts, but it is just barely possible that he has come to the realization that they really did stimulate the economy, as conservatives said they would.
I do have a serious question for you, though. Is it true that you’re really a conservative pretending to be a caricature of an idiot leftist to discredit liberals?
A lot of the conventional thinking was - let’s sit this one out and let Obambi ruin the country for 4 years, then we’ll find a real conservative to fill Reagan’s shoes. With this brilliant pick, I will be happy to muddle through 4 years of McCain and elect a strong Conservative as our first Woman President!
While I believe that this choice is brave, there are a few problems:
1. Clearly, there is a lack of foreign experience.
2. The revised Oil Tax passed last year in Alaska.
http://www.juneauempire.com/stories/072108/loc_307197582.shtml
On the other side of the equation:
WOW!
Yeaaah! McCain did something way right. Pumped? Me? Yes. I think I’ll celebrate by taking my bitter-small town butt out to the shooting range to fire off a few joyful rounds!
You summed up my feelings exactly. Maybe her youthful energy and (sorry) cute smile will open him up to listen to her.
PROOF it was a great pick. The Democrats HATE it!!
Sleepybeans
My thoughts exactly. I was never excited about McCain, but was prepared for the lesser of two evils vote. McCain has handed us a choice for the future, and it looks very good with Palin on the ticket. Let’s hope she can live up to our expectations, I’m betting she can. As a mother of four children myself, I know she must be a remarkable woman to be able to juggle a large family and the demands of the job of Governor, and to do it so well. For the first time in my adult life, I’m excited to be voting for a Republican[I wasn't a citizen when Reagan ran].
Ol’ broad doin’ ‘Snoopy Dance’!
As tacky as this might be I keep thinking “MILF”. I’m sure this will get me kicked off here. This does make things a lot more exciting. Especially since I can see giving Sara the vote for POTUS if she brings that tenacity to the VP spot. My only problem is I can’t find anything on her illegal immigration stance. Lets hope she can twist the old mans arm.
My We’re Screwed ‘08 t-shirt has been ordered to stand down. The only way I’ll be wearing it again is if Obama wins, and I don’t think that’s going to happen.
For the first time during this campaign I am proud of my party. Ooops, almost plagiarized a line from a famous liberal.
Actually, I am pumped! This is an brilliant choice. The libs are already wetting their pants.
We are all doing the “Snoopy Dance” in TEXAS!!!!!!
Laree… thanks for that link to the Andrea Mitchell transcript on NewsBusters. I only wish I could have seen the despair in Andrea Mitchell’s eyes. Indeed… Barrack who?
To quote Rush: “She believes in Babies, Guns, and God.” Case closed right there
I hear you guys on the age thing, but I don’t know where she stands on immigration yet. I am betting heavily she is at best a “make them pay a fine and stay” girl (mcamensty would never choose someon who might upset “god’s children you know). This just doesn’t get me all “pumped”. Sorry, not trying to p*ss on anyone’s parade here. But I expect the stick along in the next couple of weeks to go along with that carrot he just served up (they don’t call him maverick for nothing). I give him kudos for at least getting someone most here like (except those who like her only because she is a woman, I hate that nonsense). She does appear to be pretty good on many issues.
I’m starting to think that McCan’t actually McCan?!?!? Yikes!
that could be a negative if she comes out and supports amnesty and open borders…being she has some fairly good principles on tuff issues maybe she’ll come out in favor of law and order and holding employers responsible for their acts…she did take on big oil…
Snoopy Dance!
We really need to pray that McCain does not corrupt her like he did Lindsey Graham and others.
Hopefully, she’ll rub off on him more than the guy in the penguin suit who talked him into believing global warming was man-induced.
According to AP, Palin is risky because “Palin is 44, Obama 47. She served in her statehouse 20 months. Obama served in his statehouse for eight years.”
And Obama’s executive experience? Unmentionably Zero.
McCain did himself a ton of good by choosing Palin. Excellent choice, but she won’t be leading the ticket.
If he comes around on sealing our borders & global warming I just might vote for the guy.

With comments like these - who needs enemies - I can tell you right now that
Sarah Palen will not want your votes or support. (Webmaster - I find the above two comments offensive.)
The first money of the year from our family has been sent to the McCain/Palin ticket as well as the RNC.
If you approve of this ticket then please think about doing the same!
Good lord. You must be liberal to “offended” by those statements. Especailly, since you want the moderator to “do something” about it. Get over yourself. Clue. Conservatives don’t whine aobut every little hting that offends them. Now head over to the kos or other liberla site. Geez, some people. “They hurt my wittle feelings”.
That is typical liberal thought, “I have the right not to be offended.”
You know you’ve got the Dems when they are comparing THEIR POTUS candidate to the Reps VP candidate.
THAT is funny!!!!!!!
I’m not really pumped, but I do feel like I’m voting FOR someone for the first time and not just AGAINST Barry.
I hope McCain doesn’t do to Palin what Gore did to Lieberman. I think she is a stronger woman and leader than that.
I hope anyway.
I am realy realy pumped up. I thought I would never say this but……MaCain08
Concerns are valid about McCain pulling Palin to the left.
Psychologically, she’s his subordinate and her career is now ‘dependent’ on him. She is supposed to present a unified front, so she can’t come out and tell him he’s wrong. Maybe in private. But he’s pulling the strings and she knows it.
He will also be battling his ego on this, knowing it’s his choice of Palin that will get him elected. He’s going to want to justify his beliefs even more and he’ll be full-on to convert her to his views.
I hope she’s a strong enough influence to sway him instead. Hate to see someone like her ending up a RINO in the end.
I’m pretty much feeling like I did watching the US Olypic hockey team win the gold in Lake Placid. Considering I’m not that happy with McCain until now - that’s saying something. Looks like he FINALLY got the point that conservatives were ready to snub him in Nov if he continued to poke us in the eye with a pointy stick.
Well we’re even - I find YOU offensive. That tactic may be one your Chosen One likes, but it won’t cut the cheese here.
Deal with it, lefturd. (find THAT offensive?)
I am very impressed with Palin and am very glad he picked her. It was the best decision he has made since he proposed to Cindy.
I do not want McCain in the White House except to have lunch with the President. Even with Palin on the ticket, McCain himself is still iffy on 2A rights, iffy on 1A rights, believes in the nonsense of gorebal warming, is very foolishly tepid on domestic oil production, he welcomes illegal aliens to kill, maim, rape and rob American citizens and hey, wants to make them American citizens themselves just for the hell of it. Yeah, I will not, can not, get behind McCain.
As wonderfully happy as I am with his choice of Palin for VP, you just can’t put enough honey on horse$hit to make it taste good.
And all this time I thought the Despercrats loved the idea of strong, assertive, independent women.
“Do as we say…,”
When somebody wishes the early death of a US leader … that’s offensive…
I’m not a liberal…
but this is the last I’m saying about this…
you all that are “attacking” me - probably think McCain is a liberal anyway - so no I’m not offended by that - just standing up to it….
Which alone gives him more qualifications than B. Hussein Obama
I voted Palin/McCain in your poll.
I am one of those readers. I have reservations, however, this choice for VP is a good one. I won’t be writing a check to the GOP anytime soon but will now consider doing so. And I might even vote for them. McCain has a high propensity to disappoint, we’ll see what the convention brings.
Palin pushed through an extra $1200 tacked on to our Permanent Fund Dividends this year to help Alaskans offset the higher cost of fuel. Alot of people (mostly libs from the lower 48), cried and wrung their hands and said it was a waste but she did it anyway! I like it! And thanks for the extra money Sarah, those of us that live in the Alaskan bush certainly appreciate you looking out for us! The cost of fuel and groceries out here is very high.
lgm, get it straight. He wasn’t a soldier - he was a naval aviator.
Being a naval officer affords someone the opportunity to develop quite a bit of leadership experience/skills. Are you claiming that it doesn’t???? Do tell.
corky, what kind of leader graduates at the bottom his class? answer: not a very good one.
Awesome choice. She could be in position for a 2012 run should McCain only serve one term.
Snobama is sweating on this one!
But beware, Sarah. The lib, Obama-bathwater-drinking-zombie media will quickly draw their knives and go on the attack.
FIGHT BACK with that scoped rifle!!!
Great pick but I still will not vote for McCain.
I’m in. I said I would vote for the ticket with anyone but Huck. Palin is way more socially conservative than I would prefer, but she’s great on everything else. I’m hoping she’s not really a creationist, but that’s not a deal breaker.
So vote for Palin. Please?
Nice try. You obviously don’t understand leadership. The smartest guy/gal in the class isn’t always the leader.
texvet2 #105, asked about lgm
I have this suspicion that lgm is a webbot Michelle introduced to the blog so we can practice our troll responses
NJ-Aviator #117
Do you remember when Andrea Mitchell was going on about, the kind of people who live in SW Virginia (Hillary Clinton’s supporters) you know Rednecks. Palin has to be one of her worse nightmares come true.
Great pick but I still will not vote for McCain
How wonderful for you. Aptly named, I might add.
I was going to hold my nose and get drunk to vote for the maverick. Now at last there’s someone I can support.
The democrats screams of outrage are music to my ears. It’s too bad they only can play the same note over and over. Experience! Experience! She already has experience that Obama and even McCain lacks - executive experience. How to get things done! The disillusioned and disgusted Hillary supporters will probably depart like rats on Obama’s sinking ship.
As for the bravo sierra about McCain’s age, well… If his term is finished by someone else, who better? And who better to face Hillary in the next election, whether he lasts one term or two?
We may be witnessing history being made no matter who wins, but we also may be witnessing the final implosion of the Democrats. Obama promises change, but no one could get to say what change he had in mind. I bet even he couldn’t imagine the change he’s helping bring about. Heh, heh, heh.
Pilot, Outdoorsperson, NRA, what’s not to like? A little light on the education perhaps. Don’t expect a sweep of pro-choice PUMAs, but good for the base. She really upstaged McCain, though-I swear a couple times he looked like Valdar Conehead standing next to her.
And the whole speech was upbeat and optimistic, that’s the best part.
#126 Joromima
I agree with you.
Early word in the western states i.e. Colorado, is that Palin is a great choice.
We do love our guns, bibles, outdoor sports, snow machines, free speech ( which obama seems to be trying to halt already) individual honor, and integrity in life.
Palin seems great for our interests.
I suspect Montana might not go Democrat after all this time.
Nice try. I’m very happy and pleased with Palin but that still doesn’t change my view of your man.
Oh well, but no crapweasel, he is not my man. I started out with Tom Tancredo, then Duncan Hunter, then Fred Thompson. I lost a dog in 2008.
I worked on John McCain’s Congressional run in 1986 and was happy that he visited our local office. I didn’t finish that election and have not worked for him since. But I am staying with the party as a RINO hunter. This is MY Party and MY Country and they are worth fighting for.
But McCain is a jerk. If we lose McCain-Kennedy and McCain-Feingold will be the two big reasons.
Couldn’t stay away, could ya’. Too bad, this place was much better without you.
This woman is a firecracker, and I like it. I read the stuff about this troopergate thing, and whatever. The guy sounds like a dirtbag, apparently was found drunk while driving his state government issued vehicle and did not get in trouble? If Governor Palin was behind his firing it was because she has integrity and does not believe in the good ol’ boys club of turn your head and let your boys get away with anything wrong that they do. I was lukewarm on McCain and at least if I have to choose the lesser of two evils again, Palin will hopefully redeem that choice. I still wish it could’ve been Condi though, but Palin will do.
Palin does not change McCain.
Unless somone can convince him to enforce the laws, oppose amnesty and oppose carbon taxes, I’m still not voting for him.
No Enforcement = No Votes
Amnesty = GOP-RIP
I’m resigned to hounding whoever gets elected on the immigration issue. McCain really blew it last year.
Still, the Palin choice really made my day! =)
Over at HotAir a name, and a song, has begun to stick… and I dig it!
Sarah’Cuda!
The song is of course, Barracuda-Heart
Why do I keep seeing in my head a ‘70 HemiCuda doing burnouts on the Barakopolis?
Why should it? Monegan is a disgruntled employee who if he were still in his job, would be doing everything possible to undermine Palin. The trooper in question, Wooten is a scumbag who shouldn’t even be in uniform. I mean really…. he tased his 10 year old stepson so the kid would “know what it was like”, he was caught drinking beer on the clock in his patrol car, poached a moose and threatened to kill his father in law. Those incidents, by the way, are the actual findings of the investigation. But hey, to Monegan he was just a good old boy who was just a little too rambunctious.
Why is this even a scandal?
Next in line from the Obama crowd is that Palin likes bacon so she must suffer from Islamophobia.
This is a good pick, not what everyone wanted but a good pick. It’s enough to make me vote for the ticket.
A very politically astute move and I’m completely surprised McCain made it. Now if only he would promote whomever advised this pick and fire the morons on his presidential committee. I still have some anxiety that he’ll say or do something stupid in the next few days to slow/stop the momentum he just created.
On a lighter note, I spoke to a lifelong Democratic voter who was excited about his pick. (She’s an unhappy Hillary supporter) For the first time in her life she and her husband are voting Republican. I told her there’s hope for her yet.
Friday morning, I’m working on some equipment in the office of a leftist local rag when the employees heard about Sarah Palin. It was funny listening to their comments as they’re frantically googling Palin. I kept my mouth shut until someone said “She had a baby with Down’s Syndrome!” I said “Nothing wrong with that!” They shut up after that.
I watched Palin speak at the press conference. Gotta tell you, I’m very excited about this election now. I would have no problem voting Palin for President when the time comes.
