Poll time: Are you pumped?
I know a large number of michellemalkin.com readers have shared my deep-seated reservations about John McCain. Those reservations — especially regarding border security, the environment, campaign finance, and his Soros flirtations — remain. And you know I will not hesitate to pound on them. But the Palin VP choice appears to be a huge step forward for movement conservatism. She is the real deal.
Today’s poll question: Are you on board with McCain/Palin?

USA, USA, USA
I believe Hannity suggested her a while back, but figured it would not happen. Anyway as an Independant Conservative Mc Cain just gave me a reason to vote for the ticket (and I am even a vegetarian
Now do the next right thing and get Ramos and Campean out of prison.
THREE WORDS
OH HELL YEAH!
(I know you don’t like swear words michelle but sometimes they’re just perfect for the situation
)
Once he expels Juan Hernandez I might vote for the guy.
SHE IS GREAT!!!!!
C-LA -LFL
Yes We Can!
I LIKE HER! A woman who shoots is my kind of gal and leader!
Heck, yeah! This is the kind of thing that we’ve been looking for! She is someone who will stand up for what she believes, and against the things she doesn’t. Will probably have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to McCain’s liberal tendencies. McCain surely knows this and picked her anyway. WAY TO GO, MCCAIN!
Friggin A, BABY !!!
The Democrats are running scared now.
I am happy in Montana !!
Wow, hard to get a comment on with all the traffic. Pumped isn’t strong enough. I’d say ECSTATIC!!!
Today, I’m proud to be not only to be an American, but a Republican and…STUNNINGLY…a strong supporter of Senator John McCain.
McCain/Palin 08!!!!!!!!!!!!
McCain/Palin got my vote. I’ll do all I can this election cycle. I don’t know if I can do much in my home state of NY (as an absentee voter) but I might volunteer my time for the Republican Party in Virginia where my husband and I are currently stationed.
I think it is a good Choice. She seems to be a strong woman. I just hope Biden will try to go one on one with and she does him as if she where in a hockey game with him. My money is on her. I think she would kick Bidens butt on or off the ice.
I’m guessing this won’t get much mention over here.
Been doing the happy dance all morning! Now, the really hard work begins but I believe she is up to the task.
For the first time in my adult life, I am proud to be a Republican!
I still have goosebumps. Perfect choice for McCain.
Thanks Maverick!
I’ve thought Palin would be the best choice for quite awhile now, but I had filed the possibility in the “too good to be true” category.
Choosing her as the VP candidate was a brilliant move on McCain’s part. It’s the first time I’ve felt excited by the prospect of casting a vote in November, and I can now do so with my head held high, rather than holding my nose!
Yes I’m pumped, no I won’t be writing a check…
at least not until McCain can show that he’s got any hooks on getting tough on run away federal spending.
ME LIKE!!!!!!
(no state troopers, black labs, or guys named Vince were killed in the making of this candidate).
With that, I let Hillary go gently into that good night. (If Only).
For the first time in this campaign…
I’m SO Excited!
Who’d a thunk McCain would do this??!
WOO HOO!!!
I’m so excited to have Palin on the ticket that I just made my first political contribution since Fred Thompson dropped out.
What a fun morning!!!
I’ve been reading left wing blogs full of cries about how “inexperienced” this beautiful mother/governor/moose hunter is and the hypocrisy is just beautiful.
We finally have someone with executive experience (well, OK, Obama was a board member with that Pentagon bomber dude) on one of the tickets.
I’m not a McCain fan by any stretch… but this selection was grand slam. Let’s hope McCain listens to her more than she listens to him… that would bring hope!!!
Fantastic! In a rational world, McCain/Paley could not possibly lose this race.
I dislike McCain and I think his health is a serious issue, so picking a conservative VP was an extremely important consideration for me. Had he picked some RINO, I would probably be casting a write-in vote for a real conservative president in November.
I saw her give her first speech … She is the real deal. Great pick.
Yeah, but if it was Thompson/Palin I’d be dancing a jig and writing check. I still can’t make myself give the RNC money.
“aww hell naw!!” <<what the Obama campaign’s saying right now.
Not even close to enough.
He has to overcome his entire career of turning his back on us, to reach across the isle. Usually to defecate on us.
Nice try Johnny, not enough.
You people seem to have VERY short memories.
I like her, and it’s a good choice. He still does NOT have my vote. He doesn’t care.
PALIN in 2012!
ANY of the other choices I would have been unhappy with… she makes me feel good. We will see…. we will see.
Great choice. I will write a check next week. I haven’t made a donation to the Republicans since shortly after the last presidential election. They spent the last 4 years being royal screw-ups. The choice in Palin gives me some hope that they may be starting to come around. We shall see.
A great pick. We have co-opted the soccer/hockey moms without having to give up the pro-lifers.
Are the coattails long enough to help the GOP get the House and Senate back?
ME LIKE!
No state troopers, black labs, or guys named Vince were killed in the making of this candidate.
With that, I let Hillary go gently into that good night. (If only).
Palin is a terrific choice for us conservatives! Governor Palin was my hope for McCain’s selection as running mate, after former Congressman J.C. Watts; and sorry Libs, not for any racial or sexist reasons: For true conservative values in the highest office in the land.
You know how Star Wars/Star Trek geeks would camp out at theaters days before a movie release?
I almost feel like doing that at my local polling station…
I’m glad you have Door #2 – this is one time where the VP nominee is making the ticket.
Of course, there is still time for McCain to take the usual step back.
She’s a great choice. I’m writing my t check to the Republicans for the first time in about 3 years.
I read the article, and have to admit that I found the call letters for the radio station that the writer worked were quite appropriate in the writer’s case.
That comment aside, McCain chose the only person for VP that would have persuaded me to vote for him.
Palin not only has more executive experience than Obama, but I dare say that she likely has more than Hillary.
John McCain just tossed a hand grenade into Obama’s party unity!
I’m on the phone with the McCain camp right now – the website is experiencing so much traffic it is so slow.
The gentleman on the phone said things have exploded since this morning and they can barely keep up with the calls.
I’m very glad to see that Michelle and a lot of commentors here are pumped…
I’m watching the 2/28/08 C-Span Interview with Gov. Palen right now – oh – just ended…it was very good.
She was asked then if she would accept being a VP choice (she was 7 mo pregnant at the time)…she answered she would cross that bridge if it happened…but wasn’t expecting to be asked.
Sarah Palen is an amazing woman…I’ve heard her speak before…and knew she was on the “list”…but I was still surprised to hear she was the choice.
She gave a great speech in Dayton.
No matter how I vote…the question is ..how will all of America vote.
I’ve commented before…this race is going to be decided by the vice presidential picks…
Gov. Palen certainly has the right stuff ..to win over a lot of undecided voters at this point.
Google America’s Hottest Governor.
I’m hopeful. But, let’s see. I can remember many times I was very excited about a race, only to be disappointed later. George W. Bush disappointed me many times, for example.
Didn’t some guy give a speech last night…?
*scratches head*
I can’t seem to find too much about it on the internet……but there’s TONS of news about a very attractive woman from Alaska…..wonder how she looks with her hair down….and without those glasses…..MMMmmmm-HHmmmm….
This pick eliminates any “minority” advantage Obama may have had and even some of his women voters are likely to jump ship. It will also make the Demorcats look (more) like hypocrites if they continue to claim she’s inexperienced, **ahem** unlike Obama. Perhaps a quick trip to the Middle East and Europe and she’ll be on par with the used-to-be one.
If nothing else, people will focus on her and less on McCain, so he needs to have as many joint appearances as possible. Let’s just hope they avoid the tag of “Pale & Palin 08″.. hee hee
I am psyched about this ticket now-I’ll be honest, not so much before but I am just thrilled.
Love it, but wish it was Palin/McCain. Gotta give him props though…wow, what a choice!!!!
I can actually vote for McCain/Palin instead of just against Obama.
1st decent decision he’s made…now as JA says boot that anti-American Juan Hernandez.
The smelly hippies couldn’t levitate the U.S. mint, but McCain’s Palin pick makes me float 6 inches off of the floor.
My collie says:
I think Buddy was a Chocolate Lab, but I could be wrong…
Anways, yes I am pumped. I know the Left will use this “troopergate” nonsense to try and discredit her…
…but we will fight back with Williams Ayers-gate if that’s the way Obama wants it.
In comparison, at least Palin isn’t workign with unrepentent terrorists!!
McCain/Palin ’08!!!
Red State Skeptic said:
Lol, keep diggin’ man.
I am the happiest I have been since JM was our choice. I did not hear all her speech, but what I heard I did not hear one hummmmm. I can hardly wait to Sarah seated next to our dear blinker at the SOTU address.
L
Able was Saras ere Saras saw Elba!
My kind of Palin-drome.
Where can I find me a woman like that?
One of the Democrats had a good line about McCain:
He was a brave soldier, but that doesn’t make him a wise leader.” (or something like that).
What the campaign shows about McCain is first and foremost that he has no principles, or will abandon principle to get elected.
He bashed the religious right on principle, now he endorses them.
He was against torture, not anymore.
He said the Bush tax cuts were reckless, now he wants to be even more reckless.
Prior to this, I was tending to support Carter II: McCain is a big government liberal and his winning would leave the door open to Hillary in 2012 (to say nothing of killing the chances for conservatism creeping into one of the two major parties).
With Palin {
}
I can hope that Johnny toddles around for a while, dies nobly, and leaves Palin in charge for the better part of a dozen years.
What a laugh – Mr. Change picks old-time boring running mate, while the old guy picks a winner…
McCain/Palin ’08
I loved her speech. She is simply awesome.
Can’t wait for the debates and I can’t wait to vote for McCain/Palin. I did not think I could do this and feel good about it. I do now.
Obama who?
We’ve gone from “we’re screwed”, to “where do I send my check”, in two weeks.
SWEET!
An old pilot with bombing experience – this one’s right on target.
Screams and tears of joy here!
I’ve been a fan of Mrs. Palin for a long time – one of my sister-in-laws lives in Alaska and has been raving about Mrs. Palin ever since she took office.
I really didn’t think McCain had it in him.
Off to make a donation to McCain/Palin!
It’s a cute veep pick, but honestly, does this change anything? McCain is still the top of the ticket, and normally (Cheney excluded), veeps have no influence. So we’re getting the same thing, but with hockey mom to tell us to shut our mouths and step in line.
Brilliant!!
Of course, McCain doesn’t have to listen to a word Palin says if he’s elected POTUS. I think he just threw conservatives a hush puppy. He wants our votes, but if he’s elected he’ll walk all over us.
This is exactly what we needed! This woman is just fantastic! I never thought he would pick her. I was expecting boring, safe and uninspiring Gov. of Minnesota. Let’s watch all of these viscious, bitter mean feminists try to rip Gov. Palin to shreds. Bring it on jerks!
Psssst….. Nobama did not even vet the woman.
Rush Limbaugh just now…..
does anyone know what was in the ADN article, since the person who posted the link was too gutless to say?
I don’t register for anything in order to read it. Must be hiding something.
oooops… make that babies, drilling, guns, Jesus. HOT DAMN!!
When I went to bed last night I was planning to vote for Bob Barr and couldn’t stomach the thought of voting for McCain.
When I awoke this morning, I didn’t even want to turn on the t.v. as I was sure the pick would be Pawlenty or Romney or some other ick ball. I was stunned – and delighted- to see Sarah Palin as the pick.
Now McCain has my vote; heck, I may even put up a yard sign!
WHEEEEEEEE!
Lgm
Are you having trouble staying focused? Look up top you are supposed to be bashing Palin. I swear if you start slacking off, we are going to get a new troll, one who is paying attention. It turns out there are a lot more of your kind. don’t you think they would like the opportunity to troll here. Sometimes I think you just take us all for granted…hey did you know Palin wants the polar bear taken off the endangered species list, that Bush put them on? See if you can work something up.
I’m still concerned about all the things I was concerned about yesterday, and will be listening to see what she says about illegals and amnesty.
The one thing that bothers me is that she ‘agrees’ with McCain on the issues. I didn’t miss that. Hope he doesn’t turn her into a RINO like himself. Maybe, hopefully, she’ll influence him instead.
All that said, I now predict a McCain/Palin LANDSLIDE victory in November.
And Michelle, the poll didn’t include a choice of Palin/SomeoneotherthanMcShame.
The Palin pick was pure political genius.
I would like for both sides of the aisle to at least give McCain credit for one thing. In his picking Palin, he guaranteed that history will be made this election. Whether it is a person who has 1/2 African American roots, or a woman as VP, history will happen! He didn’t have to do that, so wheteher you call it pandering or great thinking he did have a hand in making a historical mark on American politics.
Very happy and optmistic. Excellent. The more I read about Palin, the better I feel.
What’s very important is that for the first time, I feel McCain has been listening to conservatives and that is crucial.
Do you think McCain will finally get the strength and wild popularity of conservatism?
But Sarah has told her first lie-
she referred to Hillary’s graceful/gracious
campaign.
Don’t sugar coat it, sister!
McChump picked her solely for the female vote BO lost when he didn’t pick Hildabeast. After the election the only thing you’ll hear about Palin is that she attended some former world leaders funeral. McChump’s not got to keep anyone around who’s smarter than him,( in his case almost everyone). This reminds me of the song “Hell Bound Train” You lemmings can follow the train over the cliff, but don’t count me in to be cheering for my own demise. Palin seems to have a decent record as a Conservative, but she’e got to know why she was picked. She’s sold out to party politics. Now on top of that she’ll have McAmnestys stink reeking from her poors like bad whiskey. A sad end to an otherwise promising career. Hopeless…
One analogy I’ve thought of is McCain just pulled off a move like General MacAurthur. He’s done the political equivalent of the landing at Inchon, behind enemy lines, totally freaking them out!
Palin is a perfect example of what we fought for in the sixties women’s movement. She is what we had in mind. Not the likes of Hillary.
My three daughters now have a role model in national politics.
Not enough to close the deal for me. She seems like a good choice but she is only the VP. Not like she will actually sway that much. When your boss says jump, you say “how high”. It won’t stop the amensty train or mcamensty from reaching across the aisle to poke conservatives in the eye again. We’re still screwed in the long run. Just a carrot. That’s all. Still would rather see him the WH than obummer but he will have to do it without my vote. Still bleeding from the last knife he stuck in my back. Sigh.
Palin/Jindal 2016!
I think she is a great choice. However, she will only be the VP and not the POTUS. I still could never trust McCain. This is a step in the right direction but I think it’s still too early for me to change my mind and vow a vote for the idiot. POTUS is still a vote of the LOTE’s this year again. I won’t vote for the LOTE’s ever again. Give me a conservative or else. No money from me. If he changes his mind on things like global warming and immigration, I might be persuaded to change my mind. Again, a real good pick for veep.
I bet neither Obama or Biden could shoot a gun, bait a hook, or drive a snowmobile as good as Palin!!
Super psyched about Sarah Barracuda!!
Dear Weary Citizen
Remember a heart beat away.
LOL>.. getting a little concerned are you?
I’d sawy “you’re screwed on election day” but the correct way yo phrase it is..
We will save you libs from yourselves.
Tell you what…She’s obviously against corruption, she has great family values (by example, not “just words”), and foreign policy experience is overrated. Look at all the experience Biden and Bill Clinton have, and they’re dead wrong! If she succeeded McCain during the first term, she could pick a VP that would provide the additional input she’d need. But I’m not sure she’d have to depend on that, either. Looks pretty smart to me. But I don’t expect McCain to croak in the next four years. But those Liberal Losers are sure to bring it up.
I thought
PeFullosi was the role model for American Daughter’s?She has fought for all the things I believe in and has done so not to carry votes but because she truly believes in them. Pro 2nd ammendment, pro life, anti government waste, drill till we find meaningful alternatives, tough foreign policy, tough on big Oil. She is the Governor of the only state that borders Russia. You can’t tell me she’s not on top of foreign affairs!
Go Sara go……!

I don’t think I’d let my daughter in the house if they admired Polosi.
Aww… be nice to lgm. His fingers are no doubt working up a feverish storm to locate talking points from anyone that might make a dent in the selection of Gov. Palin.
When the best the Obama camp has is to immediately attack her experience (which is, with little doubt, leading them exactly where the McCain wants them), it is telling. Instead of congratulating Sen. McCain on making a bold, outside-Washington, and historic (isn’t that what they love) pick, they’re immediately on the attack.
That’s fear you’re smelling from the O-camp.
This is so awesome! Palin kicks a**. McCain did good with this one. I don’t think I’ve ever seen conservatives this excited. Go Sarah Palin!
Weary – I hate to be so crass about it, but McCain is 72 and won’t live forever. Reagan was not yet 70 when he started his first term. And President’s tend to age quickly!
Yes, I did.
I actually sent in money.
No kidding.
Uncle Grumpy made the right choice.
Most likely, McCain is a one-termer.
My collie says:
Salt
We’re being very nice to lgm. Non of us have really laid into him. Human compassion and all that.
I must have left out the /sarc in my previous post.
This has been a great Fri morning! I would have never bet the RINO would do it and sure as h3ll he did. WOW!
I sent a check. – Palin/Jindal 2012.
(I’ll bet Pelosi is PO’d this morning)
RPG1616: If you hoping for a William Henry Harrison presidency, don’t get to excited; that SOB will hang on for at least four years just to spite Conservatives. As much as I’m going to love seeing Libs slash their wrists, and blow out their brains,(with any luck a mass extiction), I don’t think the country can stand even thirty days of McChump. That would give him time to en-act his top priority, Amnesty! Sara will be out of the country chasing a hearse.

Palin vs. Shillary in ’12. That’ll be interesting!
I’ve followed Palin for very long time. She wants the economy strong so women have a CHOICE to either work or stay home with their family. A perfect role model. She’s a strait talker. You won’t have to look behind her words for meaning.
