Not for nothing, FM, but my wife has told me she prefers a male OB/GYN because male doctors are generally MORE understanding and gentle. She – and other women I know – have said female OB/GYN’s tend to be less so and more of the “deal with it – women have been doing this forever!”
Just sayin’ although I’m sexist enough to admit I’d prefer other men stay the hell away from my wifes privates. But then I’ve had BF’s/”husbands” look over my should when I delivered their children, so take that for what it’s worth:)

If we’re looking for the best person for the job, why should we settle for anything but the best? lgm has some concerns that he’d like to bring into the discussion about Gov. Palin. Why not (a) acknowledge them, (b) refute them if you can, and (c) explain their significance or lack thereof? We can’t just say, “well, she may have issues, but so does Obama.”

The gnashing of teeth in my office: Moonbat Central (i.e. a public agency office in the Seattle area) by women (including an, objectively, incompetent woman who’s saved herself from being let-go by becoming a shop steward and a soul-patch sporting attorney) was pure joy to behold.
The look on their faces when they walked by my cube, and realized that I’d heard (I was in the office, working on a day that I was supposed to be ‘out’ of the office, on a time-critical assignment) what they’d been saying sotto voce was, in a word, priceless.

I once thought of myself as reasonably liberal in the sense that I am open-minded, but for democrats it seems that being liberal means being without moral standards or personal ethics, and acting as extremely uncouth as possible, while at the same time claiming moral superiority while apparently trying to ‘out-liberal’ the guy next to them. It’s disgraceful and disgusting, and an embarrassment to the USA.

Someone needs to explain biology to Alan Colmes and the rest of the nutjobs. Water
breaking and waiting to go to the hospital has nothing to do with DS! With 1st son,
mine broke 1 1/2 days before I went to hospital (Mother an OB nurse said nothing to
worry about) and was in labor 72 hours when I did start labor. Baby was born just
fine, not an extra chromosome in sight.
John McCain says the country comes before the convention so we will wait and see what Gustav does before making a decision about going ahead with the convention.
BO would have been standing in Denver screaming HOPE! CHANGE! While NO washed
away again and then blame the entire thing on Dubya.
Someone should ask Obama/Biden what they think of their party’s tactics just about now.

I’ll note that we have 2000 scientists who have signed a resolution stating that they do not believe that global warming, climate change, or whatever else you wish to name it is not manmade. I will be getting you a reference when I can.
Regarding Roe v. Wade, I’ll note that, logically, Roe v. Wade does not make legal sense.
Logically, either something has a property or something does not have that property. Regarding a prenatal child (we can call it whatever you like), it either is or is not a human being.
Similarly, we either do know something, or we do not know something. Therefore, we can say that either we do know that a prenatal child is a human being, or it is not.
If you combine these two statements, we have four possibilities.
1) A prenatal child is a human being, and we know that it is a human being. In this case, abortion is first-degree murder.
2) A prenatal child is a human being, and we do not know it is a human being. In this case, abortion is manslaughter. As Dr. Peter Kreeft states (and whose argument I am stating here), if you run over a human-shaped lump with a jacket covering it on the street, and that lump is a human being, and you kill it, that is legally defined as manslaughter.
3) A prenatal child is not a human being, and we do not know if it is a human being. In this case, abortion is the height of irresponsibility. It would be very easy to make a case of criminal neglect out of this.
4) A prenatal child is not a human being, and we know that it is not a human being. In this case, there is no problem with abortion.
By Roe v. Wade, we cannot tell when life begins. Therefore, options 1) and 4) are removed. That leaves either option 2) or 3) as alternatives. One of them is manslaughter, and the other is quite possibly criminal neglect.
The argument, “We don’t know what it is, and therefore you can kill it/destroy it/get rid of it,” does not hold water in any legal argument except abortion. It violates the principle of erring on the side of caution.
Now, I will look into finding that document for you.

my wife’s friend had her water break ( a trickle) and waited 9 plus hours to go in (it was her second child and she knew her body and her pregnancy/delivery characteristics)

My mother was only 28 when she gave birth to my second-oldest brother, who was born with Down’s syndrome. It is caused by an extra chromosome and no one knows for sure exactly why/how it happens. Today he’s a happy, loving, productive human being who has brought incredible joy to our whole family. He also has more intelligence, wit and common sense than these despicable people on the Left will ever have. But because this is such a personal issue for me, their utter depravity makes me even angrier. But what can be expected from a group that hails Margaret Sanger as a heroine? While they continue to associate conservatives with Nazis, and Fascists, they are the ones whose actions actually mimick them. The fact that anyone is even making an issue of an innocent baby for political gain is simply breathtaking.
Sorry to disagree Familyman, but if you are having a high risk pregnancy and your female OB/GYN has had only normal pregnancies, she can be far less
empathic and can’t seem to understand why you can’t just suck it up and deal

Having a child is wonderful full expression of life. We know of all the love, sorrow, fear, joy and hope that comes with such a great gift. For politcal reasons the democrates find it necessary to invade the privacy of this wonderful woman. It is beyond my vocabulary or the decorum of this blog, to express my indignation.

I’m from Tennessee. Our own Pat Summitt (Go Lady Vols – eight national championships!!) was on a recruiting visit 17 years ago when she went into labor. She demanded to be flown back to Tennessee – said no way her son was going to be born in Virginia! She labored all through the flight, and Tyler was born in Tennessee.

With my 4th child my water was broken for a week and I didn’t even know it,because it was such a small trickle.My son was not born with DS and he was 12 weeks early.It’s comical how the lefties are always talking about reproductive choice and keeping your hands off my body,but when someone actually chooses life over death they villify them.They despise the aged and handicapped and would very much like us to be like China and other communist societies and kill all that are vulnerable.

That’s BS about the comments. I saw the comments last night and yes, they were vile from both sides. But there was nothing stopping him from just deleting the comments and closing them and leaving the post there.
I was following the comments on it when it went 404. There were plenty of angry liberals on there as well.

The former brother-in-law had been caught “poaching” … (for all you anti 2nd amendment libs that means “illegally hunting game out of season”) …
he had drunk driving issues that were apparently swept under the rug …
he made threats against his family, Gov. Palin, and her father …
and the kicker is he used a Taser on his 10-year-old step-son for good measure …
the family hired a private investigator who gathered all the information and presented it to the “dept” and it was still not looked into … the brother-in-law is still a state trooper today …
As for the firing it was unrelated to the brother-in-law … the changes in direction for the department that Gov. Palin wanted were not moving forward as she wanted … also … she offered the previous department head a similar position running the Alcohol Beverage Control Board which he turned down …
The whole incident became the issue it is now because a “former state representative” that was caught up in the corruption she was determined to fight and forced to resign … and the majority of the criticism has come from … (gasp!) … the NBC-TV affiliate … imagine that …
The former brother-in-law is lucky … if he had used a taser on one my kids or one of my nieces, nephews, or grandkids there would have been some serious hell to pay …

What really makes these “Pre-natalgate” comments from lefties like Colmes and others is they don’t seem to understand that Gov. Palin’s child suffers from a genetic birth defect, that I understand she and her husband were well aware of before the birth. If their child’s problem was related to the actual birthing process then they could get John Edwards, or a similar ambulance chaser, to sue their OB/GYN and hospital into the ground for malpractice!

Several of the women and my wife in Church this morning were commenting how some of the Feminist and Leftist they have talked to HATE Governor Palin for NOT aborting her child: they think she is selfish and cruel for bringing a non socially viable genetically defected child into the world and five children is selfish anyway.
My God it is Triumph of the Will, the Nuremberg Rallies and Nuremberg Race Laws all rolled into one. What is next with these people–A personal oath to Reich Furher Obama? Leni Riefenstahl reborn, she used Roman and Classical Greek themeology rather effectively.
And add Alan Colmes to the list of Leftist commentators who need a whipping, beating and stomping.

Alan Colmes excuse for his disgusting post that was taken down falls flat. As usual, his comparison of Republican legitimate questions of Obama’s character and AC’s vile assault on Palin as a mother are apples and oranges. It was below the belt bashing which is what we have come to expect from the left. I have no respect for AC and find him and his opinions revolting.

I just e-mailed Sean Hanitty and asked him to stand tall on this one and take Alan to task. Look what they did to Imus. This is despicable. What a total tool.
I never realized Alan Colmes was such a vicious person. He always seems to try to show a calm demeanor (perhaps now I realize it’s just “playing the victim”), but I truly never thought he was capable of such cruelty. And hypocrisy is an understatement from the man who is a liberal’s liberal. In any other circumstances, I believe he’d be trying to argue the opposite, that this is the type of situation where an abortion is justified, as if there ever truly is such a situation. But Palin is a woman of conviction and character and this mother’s heart is full of love for her beautiful child. These libs are so jealous of McCain’s brilliant pick they don’t know what to do, or where to begin.
I’m sure it has really taken the wind out of Hillary’s sails, too. I’m sure the wheels are turning in her head, b/c this had to be a threat to her coronation as “first woman president” that she hadn’t prepared for.
I agree, but will be shocked if it happens. Personally, I can’t believe that FOX can’t get a less sleezy representative of the liberal mindset than Alan Colmes.

To be fair, he didn’t say that this caused the birth defect, he questioned her judgment as a mother for waiting so long to get to a hospital. But she consulted her doctor, so if Alan has a bone to pick with someone it’s the doctor. Maybe he can smear him or her next. Since absolutely anything is fair game, now.
Hannity works for Rupert Murdoch. Murdoch owns Fox News and fully supports Alan Colmes views.
I used to enjoy the show but have learned to just say ‘no mas’, and turned off Hannity and Colmes, because of Colmes stupid arguments about everything conservative. Most of his arguments are nonsensical and Hannity is neutered by his boss Rupert.

Day 3, and I still haven’t heard a credible argument by the Left as to why Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska isn’t qualified for a VP slot.
From what I’ve learned so far, Governor Palin has spent the last 16 years working herself up form the most local of administrative government to the Chief Executive and Commander in Chief position within her State’s government.
For defenders of US congresspeople running for the Executive Office, (Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Chris Dodd, Mike Gravel, Dennis Kucinich, John Kerry, Cynthia McKinney, etc.) to be disqualifying Governor Sarah Palin for lack of executive experience is laughable.
For others, to be disqualifying Governor Palin because of her recent newborn child is just sad.

I have never had, do not have, and never will have a problem voting for anyone of any race or any gender for public office …
All I have ever considered when voting at any level is that the person getting my vote be someone I consider qualified to hold the office for which they are running …
The left’s criticism of race and gender bias among conservatives is totally disingenuous … the problem has been a matter of qualified candidates not bias of race or gender …
I will not vote for or against a woman simply because she is a woman … I will not vote for or against a non-caucasian candidate simply becasue they are not caucasian …
Either of those as voting considerations is the manifestation of real racism and sexism …
Obama-Biden are not qualified … McCain-Palin are … plain and simple …

I stopped watching H & C a few years back, don’t care for either, saying that you would never hear anything close to what Colmes said come out of Hannity’s mouth.
Now getting away from disgusting, sick, deceitful remarks made by a sick liberal like Colmes, the picking of Palin as V.P. candidate may have just saved the country. Besides that she scares the hell out of the democraps…just look at their reactions. The selection of Gov. Palin has finally made me interested in this election. I was beginning to wonder if there was any conservatives left. There’s is at least one.

Also, I had the chance to watch MTP with Tom Brokaw this morning.
Brokaw saw it fit to introduce Governor Sarah Palin to his viewers by reciting every negative, DNC talking point that rabid pup Debbie Wasserman-Schultz foamed on MSNBC, just moments after Governor Palin’s acceptance speech on Friday.
Brokaw left it up to his guest, Governor Tim Pawlenty, to even mention Governor Sarah Palin’s positives.
NBC News is clearly working off of the same talking points as the DNC.
The Dems keep lecturing us on biology and climatology – don’t you know they know everything and we are the stupid ones?
MtsEdge, I’m just pointing out that he didn’t specifically connect it to Down’s. And it was bad enough that he commented on her personal medical decision at all.
