RNC protest update: Spitting, rock-throwing, poison-spraying, and Cub Scout-harassing
It’s starting to get a little ugly in the Twin Cities. We’ve got reports of buses vandalized and targeted with flying sandbags; delegates spat on and abused by rock-throwers; and Cubs Scouts harassed.
But first, a reminder of my warning last week about the rabble-rousers now causing trouble at the RNC. Here’s what I wrote:
We’ve been having fun mocking the motley assortment of clowns and cads here in Denver for the week, but I’ll add this caveat: Law enforcement in the Twin Cities should remain on guard. A lot of these malefactors are headed down there to join Leftists who have caused serious trouble there. Don’t forget the havoc they have wrought attacking ROTC offices on campuses and recruitment centers across the country. As I got to see up close the other day, many of these grievance-mongers are swelling with unhinged anger. The lesson of the Seattle WTO riots was “Be prepared.” Still operative.
Jim Hoft, who is on the scene, rounds up the latest anarchist tantrums involving poisons sprayed on delegates, an 80-year-old attendee who endured getting spat on, and the vehicles of state contingents getting bombed with sandbags and concrete bags.
John Hinderaker, also on scene, reports on a bus load of Cub Scouts getting terrorized by protesters.
No doubt while the mob was screaming “Love! Peace! Justice!” and goading the police.

These past two days of liberal activism (in the streets of St. Paul, on the lefty blogs and in the MSM) have been absolutely surreal.
I used to chuckle at some commentators who predicted that 2008 was going to be 1968 all over again, but I’m not laughing now.
Hell, I’ve been so pumped since Saddlebrook, I will crawl through tear gas, crap bombs and the broken glass from Starbucks windows to pull the lever for Sarah Palin this November 4th.
No offense to the hope-n-changers.
These people are the real sickos.
Now just wait. If McCain wins, this is going to get so ugly. Race riots, anarchist riots, anti war protestor riots… they will all come out of the woodwork.
I’m staying away from major cities for at least a week after the election.
I’m also noticing a liberal rehash right out of their 1991 playbook.
Remember, in October of 1991, how a confirmation hearing for a Supreme Court justice was turned into a liberal media circus and referendum on “sexual harassment” within a matter of days?
Anyone else noticing how many liberal commentators are now trying to push this Palin teenage pregnancy story into a liberal referendum on “condoms in school gooood, abstinence education baaaad?”
Whether it’s in Minnesota or on MSNBC, the libs are “takin’ it to the streets, man.”
When a mob crosses the line from peaceful protest to violent intimidation all the participants should be arrested and aggressively prosecuted.
Political violence is one of the gravest threats to political expression, yet there seems to be little for these thugs to fear. Are any of these would-be Gestapo ever jailed or seriously fined?
Political violence and intimidation has always been exclusively a tactic of the Left in America. Why is this not recognized and condemned in the media? How can the media ignore the connection between Leftist politics and physical violence? As much as they may try to say that “both sides do it”, it is clear to anyone with eyes that there were no Republicans rioting outside the Democratic Convention and never have been at any convention in history. Nor do Republicans or conservatives physically assault Liberal speakers at college campuses, yet Conservative speakers are routinely subjected to serious physical assault and other forms of violence.
Where is the outrage!!?? Where is the widespread recognition of the fact that, if this trend is allowed to continue, these thugs will only become more and more dangerous and perhaps fill the ranks of a future brownshirt-like movement? In a rational society, these kinds of tactics would be condemned and prosecuted in order to preserve civilized discourse.
Note sent by me to certain programs/journalists at Fox news earlier this evening:
“Now that it seems everyone is going to be A-OK in New Orleans, will you kindly get yourself up to St. Paul and get us some coverage of these violent and disturbing protests (read attacks) at the RNC? New Orleans finally got its act together. Let them do their job. You: get us some coverage of St. Paul.

Spitting, spraying poison, wrecking cars - I was worried they were up to no good - but it’s the same old…yet anemic compared to 1968. Liberals have raised a generation of soft kids.
I will spend a few days working on being surprised that such hatred and violence could come from the party of “love and tolerance.”

I saw you in that video of the abortion protest in Denver, where you found a local resident and played on her fears. You actually hinted that Planned Parenthood dispose of their destroyed foetuses in trash cans. You know for a fact that’s not what happens, and that was an outrageous act done in the name of your protest. So please don’t lecture others on how protests should go.

I went to college in the sixties and wasting to much of my time on Telegraph Av. in Berkley. I understand the political and social mindset of the left. What I can’t comprehend is the small but violent group of anarchists. What are their motivations.

I think that we have a real problem with frivilous lawsuits in this country, but these lawsuits would be anything but frivilous. Quite the contrary.
Hurting them in their wallets is the ONLY way to force these people to stop promoting and encouraging physical, textual and verbal violence and it has to be done if we’re ever going to rid American politics of this diseased mentality.
People like Kos and Arianna have to get the message that any behavior on their part that either supports or encourages violence against American citizens is going to come with a price tag.

I read the article about the Cub Scouts being attacked. Moonbats surrounded the bus and rocked it back and forth. Can you imagine being a little boy on that bus? What will he take away from this experience? Will he be a proud American or a scared one?
Are these moonbats even being prosecuted? What are the police doing about this?
I read about the cement attacks too. The ppolice seemed to wave the bus through right before it was bombarded. the cops saw the bats on the bridge and did nothing.

What I read was that the police were present when the buses were attacked from an overpass with sandbags. Are the Minnesota police incompetent or plainly terrified? The RNC maybe should have hired security that knows how to do the job. Or at least people who are intelligent enough to know to check out a group of people meandering on an overpass.
I have not read any condemnation from the moderate left. Maybe they are taking a page out of the playbook of the moderate Muslims.

It’s definitely NOT 1968 again. Hundreds of soldiers are NOT dying every week, a would-be Ayers bomber will find no sympathy in trying to stop the military by extreme action, and McCain is not really considered another Nixon by anybody except an extreme, irrational fringe.

The Today show this a.m. spent an incredible amount of time on the teenage pregnancy of a 17 year old girl because she happens to be the daughter of a conservative candidate. Yet, the important issues facing this country are being ignored. I guess it is more important to brand a scarlet letter on this teenager than to deal with illegal immigration that is destroying our culture and our economy, or to deal with evil that is threatening to kill us all, or to showcase the moonbats who are foaming at the mouth and burning down the host city of the republican convention. I am a bit rattled this morning, and very very afraid. Maybe it is because all this is happening in my own back yard!
