The dregs: Democratic Underground’s Palin nickname contest

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 2, 2008 11:57 AM

Reader Monica M. sent me a link to the Democratic Underground’s latest thread for commenters to come up with nicknames and posters to slime GOP Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — and then to “spread [them] all over the ‘net.” There are now nearly 100 filthy, hate-filled responses and counting. Among the “nicer” entries: “Cruella,” “Gidget,” “Governor Jesus Camp,” “VPILF,” “Fertilla the Huntress,” “Iditabroad,” and “KILLER PYSCHO FUNDIE BITCH FROM HELL!!”

The link should have come with a blood pressure warning. These people make Palin-bashing prenatal care expert Alan Colmes look like a saint.

Peer with me further into the liberal sinkhole again and behold P.D.S. in full bloom. Note that this site is raising money for Barack Obama and that an ad for their fundraiser appears at the top of the thread. Is Obama going to accept their cash? Know your enemy:

To further define Sarah Palin, we need a unified nickname.

Words are important. Symbols are important, and we need to all get together on a cute nickname for Sarah. I’m not so clever with nicknames, but people that are please place your suggestions here. After I have enough I’ll post a poll.

Someone called her “Caribou Barbie” which I thought was pretty good. But I honestly feel we need a poll to vote for the best suggestion, and we can then all use it. Perhaps it could spread all over the ‘net.

The Photoshop entries getting thumbs up from DU commenters:

And the sickest attack of them all — mocking Palin for being a nursing mom:

And more:

These people are off their meds.

This is beautiful. Keep getting the word out there Michelle. No doubt the Palin family was ready for this, so, God willing, it won’t hurt them. And it really does expose the miserable, pus-filled filth that comprises the nutroots. * The news that Palin once backed the Bridge to Nowhere went national.

    * It emerged that Palin has links to the bizarro Alaska Independence Party, which harbors the goal of seceding from the union that McCain and Palin seek to lead.

    * The news broke that as governor, Palin relied on an earmark system she now opposes. Taken along with the Bridge to Nowhere stuff, this threatens to undercut her reformist image, something that was key to her selection as McCain’s Veep candidate.

    * Barely moments after McCain advisers put out word that McCain had known of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy, the Anchorage Daily News revealed that Palin’s own spokesperson hadn’t known about it only two days ago.

    * A senior McCain adviser at the Republican convention was forced into the rather embarrassing position of arguing that McCain had known about the pregnancy “last week” — without saying what day last week he knew about it.

    * It came out that Republican lawyers are up in Alaska vetting Palin — now, more than 72 hours after it was announced that she’d been picked.

    * Palin lawyered up in relation to the trooper-gate probe in Alaska — a move that ensures far more serious attention to the story from the major news orgs.

The far left spreads lies about Palin, here are some facts about Obama’s dirty supporters.

LAGOS, Nigeria (Reuters) | Nigerian anti-graft police seized about $630,000 raised at a gala dinner in support of Barack Obama’s U.S. presidential campaign, authorities said on Sunday.

While the fundraising was not illegal in Nigeria, it is illegal under U.S. law for foreign campaign groups to donate funds to American political parties. Mr. Obama’s campaign said it was in no way affiliated with “Africans for Obama” and would not accept funds from the group. Yeah, right.

Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, chairwoman of the “Africans for Obama” campaign, speaks at a fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign last month in Lagos, Nigeria. U.S. law prohibits foreign donations to U.S. political parties.

Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, chairwoman of the “Africans for Obama” campaign group and head of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, organized the fundraiser in Lagos on Aug. 11. A “platinum” ticket for a table of eight cost $21,226.

The huge amount raised from the dinner sparked widespread public outrage in Africa’s top oil producer, where the majority live on less than $2 a day, prompting the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to launch an investigation.

It emerged that Palin has links to the bizarro Alaska Independence Party, which harbors the goal of seceding from the union that McCain and Palin seek to lead.

Did you actualy check out these so called links? It involves showing up to a convention in 1994 and sending a message to another convention. Thats it. There is no evidence that she supports succesion, (I assume you watched the video, RIGHT?) What she said was she approved of thier strong support of the alaska constitution. Thats it. Now compare that to obamas record with bill ayers…

Seriously, do you think she was even vetted

Sarah Palin voluntarily told John McCain’s campaign about her pregnant teenage daughter and her husband’s 2-decade-old DUI arrest during questioning as part of the Republican’s vice presidential search, the lawyer who conducted the background review said.

The Alaska governor also greatly detailed the dismissal of the state’s public safety commissioner that has touched off a legislative investigation, Arthur B. Culvahouse Jr. told The Associated Press in an interview Monday.

Palin underwent a “full and complete” background examination before McCain chose her as his running mate, Culvahouse said. Asked whether everything that came up as a possible red flag during the review already has been made public, he said: “I think so. Yah, I think so. Correct.”

    More here.

Can count his accomplishments on his fingers,
Ignores the plight of his own brother,

Sadly, it is raw, unhinged hatred like this that keeps good people out of politics. If you serve in public office, particularly if you are a Republican, you have to develop a pretty thick skin. I believe it was Jesse Helms who devoted an entire wall of his office to vile, vulgar, and crude cartoons and opinion pieces about himself. He learned to laugh it off. Perhaps that is why Republicans are likened to elephants.

What’s with all the talk about vetting? I mean really, you could do the most intensive search known to man and still not find anything worth considering. Then, poof, a possible situation comes up. Everyone has things in their background that can be exploited. Even non-scandalous items can be turned into a negative. Vetting needs to be done of course…but don’t assume it wasn’t done well because some people have found items to critique and attack.

I would also like to go on record to say that nothing that has come out about Gov. Palin, her political history, or her family would dissuade me from voting for her.
