The dregs: Democratic Underground’s Palin nickname contest
Reader Monica M. sent me a link to the Democratic Underground’s latest thread for commenters to come up with nicknames and posters to slime GOP Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — and then to “spread [them] all over the ‘net.” There are now nearly 100 filthy, hate-filled responses and counting. Among the “nicer” entries: “Cruella,” “Gidget,” “Governor Jesus Camp,” “VPILF,” “Fertilla the Huntress,” “Iditabroad,” and “KILLER PYSCHO FUNDIE BITCH FROM HELL!!”
The link should have come with a blood pressure warning. These people make Palin-bashing prenatal care expert Alan Colmes look like a saint.
Peer with me further into the liberal sinkhole again and behold P.D.S. in full bloom. Note that this site is raising money for Barack Obama and that an ad for their fundraiser appears at the top of the thread. Is Obama going to accept their cash? Know your enemy:

To further define Sarah Palin, we need a unified nickname.Words are important. Symbols are important, and we need to all get together on a cute nickname for Sarah. I’m not so clever with nicknames, but people that are please place your suggestions here. After I have enough I’ll post a poll.
Someone called her “Caribou Barbie” which I thought was pretty good. But I honestly feel we need a poll to vote for the best suggestion, and we can then all use it. Perhaps it could spread all over the ‘net.

This is beautiful. Keep getting the word out there Michelle. No doubt the Palin family was ready for this, so, God willing, it won’t hurt them. And it really does expose the miserable, pus-filled filth that comprises the nutroots. This will only demonstrate to rational Americans (the bulk of them) that the Dems and their supporters are panic-stricken desperates who know they can’t win on their merits.
This is where the sides differ: Republicans go after women like Hillary Clinton on issues, and Democrats go after women like Sarah Palin personally because they lack the ability to engage in proper debate.

We know who they are, how over-the-edge they are, and that they’re loud AND proud about it, but, in the end, what does this exercise get the DUmmies? I think the average voter could care less about crap like this, and more about what they will see from the campaign trail over the next two months. Once, just for the fun of it, I registered to comment at DU. They let me do it for about 30 minutes before they kicked me off. I never called anyone names, used profanity (I don’t anyway), or was disrespectful. I just voiced a conservative opinion.

What’s with all the talk about vetting? I mean really, you could do the most intensive search known to man and still not find anything worth considering. Then, poof, a possible situation comes up. Everyone has things in their background that can be exploited. Even non-scandalous items can be turned into a negative. Vetting needs to be done of course…but don’t assume it wasn’t done well because some people have found items to critique and attack.
I would also like to go on record to say that nothing that has come out about Gov. Palin, her political history, or her family would dissuade me from voting for her.
