The dregs: Democratic Underground’s Palin nickname contest

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 2, 2008 11:57 AM

Reader Monica M. sent me a link to the Democratic Underground’s latest thread for commenters to come up with nicknames and posters to slime GOP Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin — and then to “spread [them] all over the ‘net.” There are now nearly 100 filthy, hate-filled responses and counting. Among the “nicer” entries: “Cruella,” “Gidget,” “Governor Jesus Camp,” “VPILF,” “Fertilla the Huntress,” “Iditabroad,” and “KILLER PYSCHO FUNDIE BITCH FROM HELL!!”

The link should have come with a blood pressure warning. These people make Palin-bashing prenatal care expert Alan Colmes look like a saint.

Peer with me further into the liberal sinkhole again and behold P.D.S. in full bloom. Note that this site is raising money for Barack Obama and that an ad for their fundraiser appears at the top of the thread. Is Obama going to accept their cash? Know your enemy:

To further define Sarah Palin, we need a unified nickname.

Words are important. Symbols are important, and we need to all get together on a cute nickname for Sarah. I’m not so clever with nicknames, but people that are please place your suggestions here. After I have enough I’ll post a poll.

Someone called her “Caribou Barbie” which I thought was pretty good. But I honestly feel we need a poll to vote for the best suggestion, and we can then all use it. Perhaps it could spread all over the ‘net.

The Photoshop entries getting thumbs up from DU commenters:

And the sickest attack of them all — mocking Palin for being a nursing mom:

And more:

These people are off their meds.

I’ll admit, I find a few of them funny, even embracable in a “damned right she is, and proud of it!” sort of way.

    Caribou Barbie being one.

Sometimes the key to dealing with stuff like this is to laugh and turn it around. And sometimes the answer is to give the joker a good bust upside the head.

My gut feeling is Sarah’s just the woman to do both.

I didn’t know American Politics Journal was even still around. If the subgenius who did that “Beauty Queen…Or Natural Born Killer?” thing had a brain in his/her head, s/he would remember that the motion picture Natural Born Killers was about a serial killer of humans, not polar bears. No. She was elected mayor, vs opposition. She was elected governor, beating an incumbent and a strong Dem challenger. Obama was “given” his state senate seat, and got his US Senate seat by smearing his opponent, revealing info in sealed court records, allowing him to run essentially unopposed. This is, in fact, the first time Obama has ever faced a competitive election, and like most libs, he doesn’t like it, and will do anything to “win”. In that he’s no different than Gore, except in degree. Change? The only change he represents is changing back to the old Marxist radicalism of the ’60s lunatic fringe.

Assuming for sake of argument that Palin’s vetting process didn’t address things like her daughter’s sex life and her husband’s driving record from 20+ years ago, if that “reflects” on McCain’s decision-making process then what do Hopenchange’s longer-term and more recent associations with Ayers, Dohrn, Rezko, Wright and Pfleger say about his decision-making processes?

Let’s not forget that just about the same time her husband got that DUI, Obama was walking around in a constant drug-induced haze, at least according to his book.

I’m confused by your position here. The recent flap over Sarah Palin seems to be that she has a teenage daughter who is pregnant and engaged, much the same as Barack Obama’s mother was.

TOS, is this the reason why you don’t feel that she was “properly” vetted?

If so, how do you feel about the Biden vetting? Here we have a VP choice who previously aborted a presidential run in 1988 because the Dukakis campaign and the media discovered that he not only plagiarized his campaign speeches, but that he also flunked a law school course for the very same reason, and he was caught lying about his academic credentials as well.

If you feel that the poor choice by one of Sarah Palin’s teenage children shouldn’t pass a vetting process for Sarah’s choice for VP, than how do you justify Obama’s vetting of a man like Joe Biden, who is a proven plagiarizer and liar, for the same position?

Noted. While I’m from the northeast, I do recognize that teenagers in other parts of the US often grow up quicker and take on responsibilities sooner than teens in my neck of the woods.

My larger point is that, liberals seem to be placing a lot of political scrutiny on Governor Palin’s daughter’s decision as their belief that the Governor was poorly vetted.

At the same time, I don’t see nor hear any liberals placing the same level of scrutiny on Joe Biden’s vetting – a proven plagiarizer and liar after the Dukakis campaign and the media vetted him in 1988.

Coming from a large family helps. I come from a large family, the eldest of five, and it was expected of us older siblings to help with the new baby. By the time I was 17, I was an expert in changing diapers, feeding, washing, etc…

    Snipe stew is pretty good;

After you get the snipes in the bag,
You take a large pot of water and get it boiling,
Once the water is boiling you add veggies of choice,
add 3 lbs of cubed sirloin,
season to taste and right before you put the lid on, quickly empty the bag of snipes into the pot and slam the lid on so that the snipes don’t escape.

    and waalaa
