The Washington Post rushes out with a story that GOP Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin “slashed” funding for teen moms.
Oh, the inhumanity!
Oh, the hypocrisy!
Oh, the conservative callousness!
One little problem, pointed out by non-deranged blogger Lonewacko:
“Covenant House’s IRS Form 990 (link) shows the funds that Paul Kane describes as “slashed” was over a threefold increase from the government funds they received from all sources in 2006 (FY2006 ending 12/31/06).”
Wait a minute. State funding for the teen pregnancy program increased? Well, that doesn’t fit the Christofascist hypocrite/Fertilla the Huntress narrative!

And speaking of vetting, Joe Biden was forced to drop out of his 1988 Presidential run after he was vetted for two known instances of plagarism and lying about his academic credentials.
Does the result of Barack Obama’s 2008 vetting process indicate that Barack is fine with accepting a proven liar and plagiarist as his running mate?
Why was lying and plagiarism not ok with democrats in 1988, but apparently ok with democrats in 2008?

This is nothing new. Back in 2004, Harold Schaitberger, the General President of a IAFF (International Alliance of Fire Fighters) carried out the lie that President Bush, in the wake of 9-11, had SLASHED the budget for Firefighters and First Responders. Of course the Rank and File never got on him for the conflict of interest he had in being one of Kerry’s campaign staff nor that he was vying for a cabinet post, the fact of the matter was that President Bush had RAISED the amounts of money allotted for Firefighters and First Responders after 9-11 by the MILLIONS.
However, after 3 years, departments had already upgraded their equipment, bought a bunch of really cool, neat, much needed stuff, increased staffing etc., and thus the large amounts needed just after the attacks were no longer needed. So, when the budget was proposed with an even larger increase, President Bush basically left the amount at what it was the previous year. This was reported by the Kerry Campaign as well as Pres S. as a MAJOR CUT, leaving us destitute. Nothing could have been further from reality.
These are the levels they will go to. While technically correct on the surface, it is indeed a bald-face lie to say it was cut at all, just like this case.
And what will the Liberals do? Will they go and find out the truth for themselves? No. And why? Because of their “feelings”. Their emotions run their lives and thus these creatures play them like a cheap fiddle, using the buzz words guaranteed to make people get upset.
And nothing works better than, “What about the children. They hate children. Look at what they did…slashed teen pregnancy money. Sure, they are a loving family, but not everyone is thus they need that money to kill those unwanted babies.”
Simply freaking disgusting. They have no shame, no conscience, and no souls.
You know, I’m more and more convinced that the media is unintentionally buffering Palin and McCain from the always to be expected October surprise.
They are throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her right now, and given time they’ll probably throw that at her too.
But the problem (for them) is that such a deluge of bile spewed on a candidate makes them more sympathetic to the people, especially when innocent family members are involved.
Further, what kind of impact would an October surprise have after the public’s been saturated with wall to wall attacks on her?
IMHO, it would be akin to listening for the sound of a pin dropping in the midst of a hurricane, completely lost in the deluge of “normal” reporting.

That’s him…only this year, when the majority of the membership was solidly behind Giuliani, he kept up that lie, used it to not invite him to speak with the rest of the candidates, completely snubbing him at this years IAFF Convention. Then, when the R&F got pissed about that, he sent a lame invite, complete with same insult, and claimed Giuliani was demonstrating his hatred of Firefighters when he turned down the last minute, given under duress invite.
Actually, much to our surprise, this year he did not sell us out to Clinton as we thought. He came out really early after claiming to have once again taken a poll, (never happened) for Dodd.
Not only was Dodd never a serious candidate, but the poll was never given, and even after the IAFF falsly reports anyone who is unaware that you can go onto the IAFF website and list your party affiliation as automatically Democrat, a lie that we discovered during the 2004 election, the membership of over 144,000 dues paying career and retired members are majority Republican. Should a poll of the ENTIRE membership ever be taken as to who to endorse, it would not be a Democrat, thus the Executive Board and certain members of various E-Boards are polled at the Convention and that is how they sell us out.
Keep in mind, it is the Dems that run the E-Boards of the locals. Just another example of how and why the Dems own the Unions and just because you pay dues does not mean you are represented.
Oh, and once again, he sold us out to a loser…this time even bigger than Kerry.

All the details are attached to the above link. They originally wanted $10mil from AK. In that light, $3.9m from $5m isn’t as big of a deal. But the article is still misleading that it was for a “program”….
This may well be ‘all or nothing’ for them.

A major part of USA Today subscription base is Hotel Drops. They drop a copy at every hotel room door and put a $.25 to $1 charge on your bill. While that is costly it does drive Ad revenue. Tell the Hotel desk no, I don’t want to pay it. They will deduct it. USA Today loses double. And if you do go to Starbucks spill the last of your coffee on the NY Times. At least you stop the next Pitiful Person from being further contaminated.

I loved Newt Gingrich’s comment last night when interviewed at how the MSM made it front line news that Todd Palin had a DUI 22 years ago but nary a word of Barack Obama taking cocaine (by his own admission) at about the same age as Todd was. I have a feeling more people can idendity with having a few too many beers as opposed to taking a hardcore drug like cocaine.

RetFireman! Your point on unions is not lost on me and is the first time I have seen it in print. Out here in Commiefornia my union CSEA is also dominated by commie/libtard/freaking socialists. Many members are Republican/conservative with no voice. When I speak up for my principles at meetings I am the only voice in the room. Yet I do get a smattering of handshakes later. I get all warm and fuzzy then too!
Republican politicians need to learn how to break into public service union ranks and organize there. Public service [union] workers are a necessary part of government and to be ignored hurts.
I suspect they’ll do what they always do: go with truthiness instead of the truth.

As I said over at Ace’s place, I don’t understand why this would be a bash, even if she HAD done it, which evidently she didn’t. Just because your daughter has a teen pregnancy doesn’t mean you believe that the State should be paying for it.

why is govt (federal or state) even in the business of pregnancy programs for teens? Ideally, this matter should be addressed by local private organizations such as community groups and churches, you know, the volunteer work that Obama is so enthusiastic about.
We should all be against social engineered programs such as teen pregnancy programs. Who designs the programs? How much does it cost? Are there any long term measurable improvements? These types of programs, in the last 40 years are part of the trouble we have today.

My Church encourages us to avoid the entaglements of government aid. It has an in-house welfare program to provide temporary relief for families who need a short-term safety net.
Our Church teaches a strict moral code, including abstinence. But kids, being human, blow it sometimes. Our Church also has a social services program to provide counseling to families who are in Sarah Palin’s situation. Dovetailing with that is our adoption program to designed match up families with babies born of unwed mothers. All funded by voluntary tithes and other funds donated through the sacrifices of its members.
If these things are done on a local or church level, through volunteer efforts, we can avoid the disease of social engineerd programs. It works for us…

As a Northern Virginian, I have subscribed to this rag for years (I prefer their sports coverage and metro sections). I had already taken to throwing away the A section unread. But I have scanned the front page headlines and every (without exception) campaign related story on the front page of the Post since Saturday has been negatively focused on Governor Palin.
Don’t know what took me so long, but I cancelled my subscription.
Just Googled two phrases:
Palin Daughter = 1,140,000 returns.
Obama Rezko = 514,000 returns.
Gee, is it just me, or does a POTUS candidate’s association with a felon seem more relevant to an election than a teenager, who is not a candidate, being pregnant? Not to the libs, I guess.

MSM did exactly the same thing with the “Republicans slash medicare benefits” story for over six months during 1996 Presidential campaign.
Every night Leno and Letterman parroted the Dems’ line of Republicans “cutting” benefits.
Truth: Reps. wanted about a 4% increase, while Dems. wanted a 6% increase. The 2% smaller increase was called a “cut” by Dems. In January 2007 Clinton signed a 5% increase and called it “medicare savings”.
Problem: MSM went along the whole year and NEVER explained the facts to the public; they just repeated the Dem. line.

What about that budget “Surplus” that the Dems say Clinton left office with.

Thi is a very familiar tactic in California. First, propose a spending increase of 100%. If that proposal gets shot down entirely, then the government and their media enablers will proclaim a 50% spending cut was made.
