Cut the “someone wrote the speech for her” crap

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 3, 2008 11:49 PM

Photoshop: David Lunde

Right on cue, the Beltway snobs dumped on Gov. Sarah Palin’s brilliantly crafted and delivered speech tonight by immediately pointing out that the speech was “written for her.”

What officeholder — from mayors to the President — doesn’t have speeches written for them?

Now, they have a problem with political candidates who are skilled at reading a teleprompter and delivering great soundbites and revving up large crowds?

Now?

They fear. They hate. They squirm.

Keep bringing it on, Gov. Palin.

Cassy Fiano jumps in with an “I Am Sarah Palin” video.

I suspect you’ll be seeing a lot of these on YouTube. If YouTube doesn’t take them down first:

***

Lorie Byrd: “So much for the redneck beauty queen mayor of a pissant town.”

I think my Reverend Wright example perfectly illustrates this. Who cares that people write Obama’s speeches. But if Reverend Wright had written one, oh boy, you’d be pissed.

This isn’t attacking the presence of the writer. It’s attacking a writer who worked for a politician who is loathed by two-thirds of the population.

But I thought you like Obama.

Halfway through Sarah Palin’s speech tonight at the RNC, people following the speech noticed she was deviating from the prepared text.

According to sources close to the McCain campaign, the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech. The malfunction also occurred during Rudy Giuliani’s speech, explaining his significant deviations from his speech.

Unfazed, Governor Palin continued, from memory, to deliver her speech without the teleprompter cued to the appropriate point in her speech.

Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.

    Sarah Palin. Winner.

Rusty, you are such a neuron-depleted ditz.

In order for your attempted analogy to Wright being Obama’s speechwriter to have any chance of holding up, Bush himself would have had to have written Palin’s speech.

But Bush didn’t write Palin’s speech, A (not “the“) Bush speechwriter did.

Bush has had numerous speech writers over his two terms, making your claim even weaker.

    So…..

BZZZZTTTT!!!! You’ve publicly soiled yourself once again. You should ask lgm or bemusedlib to advise you on how best to clean up — they have plenty of practical experience dealing with it. Apparently a shoehorn is useful for scraping out the dried stuff.

p.s. you make a further logical error by conflating a poor popularity rating with Bush being “despised”. The GOP doesn’t despise GWB. No: “Despised” is for BDS sufferers such as you.

If unpopular means despised, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi should be traveling in armed convoys by night, since their numbers are three time worse than Booosh. That work for you?

And in case you haven’t noticed, a pinata party was held here last night, with your head as the target. It’s gotta suck for you to look back at MMs threads to see yourself being so totally pwned.

I’d ask you to lick you wounds but being a liberal you would probably try instead to perform an unnatural act upon yourself.

Also, just so you don’t think every criticism against Palin is about her daughter getting knocked up or some phantom criticism about her not writing her own speeches…

Palin said yesterday that families with special needs children could have a friend in the White House. Yet she slashed special ed funding in Alaska by 62%. Some friend.

Her repeated lie that she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere is especially galling since she is on the record supporting it before it became politically unpopular in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Then there’s the corruption snafus, the terror of having a president who wants to ban books from public libraries, and her involvement with the AIP secessionist movement. Oh, and her lack of qualifications.

So pretending that there aren’t real criticisms of this candidate is obtuse.

The program she cut was the Alaska Challenge Youth Academy Program. Here’s the description from your source:

This instructional program is operated in Anchorage with student
enrollees from across the state. Students work on challenging academic programs in a “boot camp” environment.
Completing high school and building career goals and skills are the goals.

That sure doesn’t sound like “special needs” to me.

Her repeated lie that she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere is especially galling since she is on the record supporting it before it became politically unpopular in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

That article is 100% opinion and conjecture with no supporting documentation. If you’re going to make a definitive statement, please back it up with facts.

    Then there’s the corruption snafus

If this is about the trooper, this is ridiculous and has been proven so. It’s just a smear attempt, not an actual scandal.

the terror of having a president who wants to ban books from public libraries

Do you really think all books are appropriate in a public library?

and her involvement with the AIP secessionist movement.

Nobody has actaully stated what her involvement is, just that she’s “involved”. Let me guess, she was also a blatant thespian in high school.

Oh, and her lack of qualifications.

Again, what lack of qualifications? Mayoral and gubernatorial experience is actual executive experience. What exactly does a “community organizer” do that qualifies him?

So pretending that there aren’t real criticisms of this candidate is obtuse.

When you show me a real criticism, I’ll consider it. Meanwhile, these made up non-issues aren’t going to fool anyone, despite the media’s hopes that they will.

Even the MSM still doesn’t get it. They and the trolls think that we are upset about them asking legitimate questions concerning her political past. They completely obscure and ignore what they have done concerning her children, her family, and her personally.

I taught special ed for nearly twelve years and you’re right, that program is/was NOT special ed!

In fact, it sounds like one of those “feel good” programs liberal universities push on public schools to give the appearance of being pro-active in public education, when all they’re really doing is lessening actual learning with mindless drivel while, at the same time, decreasing the amounts of funding available to worthwhile academic programs that really teach, like those focus on compensatory reading and mathematics skills for special needs students.

Besides, as a large part of special ed is funded through Social Security reimbursements to state-/local school systems, the last thing any state’s governor would or could cut is special ed.
