“Waking up the sleeping giant”
I am conservative woman, hear me roar:
The media has done more for John McCain in the last two days than he’s done for himself in the last year and a half,” [Tom] DeLay said. “Trashing her is waking up the sleeping giant, and the sleeping giant is Republican women.”
(Link)
A movement is born. From Reader D.:
I heard about a convention attendee wearing a shirt that simply stated “I am Sarah Palin”. Hearing this a light bulb went on. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the McCain camp rolled out an “I am Sarah Palin” ad campaign? It would simply be a series of commercials that show a woman describing herself, like “I am a mom of 2 children, I am a wife, I am a PTA volunteer, I am a team mom, I am a marketing executive, I am a Democrat, etc” then the tag line, the woman says “I am Sarah Palin.”
They could have a series of women of different ages and different races giving their story, all saying in the end, “I am Sarah Palin.”
I would love to see these ads, it would drive the lefty feminists CRAZY.
Someone’s on the same wavelength. Via Jim Geraghty:
Spoke to Hugh Hewitt on radio row. He’s getting deluged with phone calls from women listeners, all saying that they’re appalled by the attacks on Sarah Palin. One has already printed up a t-shirt that says, “I AM SARAH PALIN. HER STORY IS MY STORY. BACK OFF.”
Some enterprising printer ought to consider mass-producing that, I think…
Ask and ye shall receive! Already on CafePress:

Since I was in the womb.
But don’t worry you can slam me for being a Seahawks fan. that I doubt you are.
The “I am Sarah Palin” ad campaign that D talked about would be fantastic! It would be a slam-dunk!
Michelle must get that idea to the McCain Campaign ASAP!
Just saying you were a lot easier to take when you weren’t passing yourself off as conservatives’ best friend.
“Oh mah! This Palin thing is a terr-uh-bull, terr-uh-bull mess! Ah fear fo ow-ah pah-ty.”
Right.
Just.be.yourself.
I want to see the bumper stickers that say
McPalin 08!!!
I don’t know if anyone else sent D’s idea to them but I e mailed it… if they get it, who knows?

Ahh a Lion!, A libtard fired off a post while you were away. Please start locking your keyboard.
Adding: they might see it, I put it in the comment section under… “donation question” lmao
They’ll get it, AJ. Good thinking.
Holy S. I just read some of the excerpts from Palin’s remarks. LOL she’s going to tear the house down with her “Kind of like being a community organizer” when talking about her term as mayor.
For much the same reason Jann Wenner and his husband rarely see eye-to-eye, I fear.
Thats been on the news also john, i wish they wouldn’t do that.
I want the surprise value.
D’oh!
I can’t wait.
There’s going to be more than that, Aj. Sorry to ruin the surprise. It’s like telling somebody the ending to a movie they are going to see. My bad.
The AP have already posted a post speech story
you didn’t. like I said it’s been on the news.
Once Giuliani dropped out, I became a McCain supporter. I’ve never wavered on that. I’ve also never said I was a conservative. I’m too liberal on some social issues to call myself that. But on things like the war, immigration and the second amendment, I agree with conservatives. Maybe I’m a wuss for being in the middle between the two sides but so be it.
The attacks on Sarah Palin concern me because it impacts McCain. I think she’s a fantastic woman who shouldn’t be taken lightly. But there’s a part of me that feels like this was an impulse pick on McCain’s part when he didn’t get to pick either Lieberman or Ridge. He was determined to shake things up but couldn’t risk a floor fight over a pro-choice nominee so he chose Palin.
It’s just my opinion. I’m not saying it’s the truth or that it’s right. It’s just how I feel.
I’d like to see one with a pic of Sarah that reads “The Most Dangerous Woman In Barack America”
As well as these..two
I can’t help but to wonder if part of what went into McCain’s knowledge of who would or would not be acceptable to the conservative base came from some of his people monitoring sites like this. You can bet the campaigns are aware of what’s being said here. I remember the webmaster for Fred’s campaign was actively involved in the discussions here during the primary season.
I’ll give you points for honesty…but I’m taking some away for laziness.
All too often “It’s my opinion; that’s how I feel” is a cop out for failure to do the reasoning and the research that enable one to say instead “This is the truth; this is my judgment.”
And if that offends, just remember “It’s just my opinion. I’m not saying it’s the truth or that it’s right. It’s just how I feel.”
John Ansell,
I nearly burst out laughing when I read that line you referenced. This is it off Drudge:
Another good one:
Here’s Sarah on John McCain:
This lady is good and she apparently gives no quarter. She’s jumping right over Biden and going right to the heart of the Obama campaign. I haven’t watched a political speech in years but I’ll be glued to the set tonight.
I’m getting tired of bringing this up, but when McCain and Palin win in November, they have a four-year term which, I believe will be followed by re-election in 2012.
Sarah Palin’s turn comes in 2016. If she wants Jindal, that’s fine. She, too, will merit re-election which brings us to 2020.
So please, people, stop with the “Whozis/Whatzis in 2012 junk, okay?
I respectfully disagree. Maybe I should say “I HOPE NOT.” I hope our elected officials show more savvy than to turn to blogs for personnel decisions. And even were it the case otherwise, Palin’s name never appeared here before last Friday.
A few pre-release quotes from Palin’s speech tonight.. looking great:
“I’ve learned quickly, these past few days, that if you’re not a member in good standing of the Washington elite, then some in the media consider a candidate unqualified for that reason alone, but here’s a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion — I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country.”
And this one’s awesome:
“I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities.”
THink the media will cover it fairly?
It’s sick.
I’m going to have to record this on our DVR.
And your suggestion is that Mr. Big ears, I did cocaine and goofed off, and then wrote books and did the “tough” job of being some sort of a planner, never did nothin’ else is a strong leader?
Sorry. No sell to me. The emperor is STILL naked honey. You ain’t got nuttin’
NBC turned the mics in the hall off when President Bush spoke. There was silence when the audience was clapping and cheering. Wonder if they will try something similar tonight? It would probably be more difficult with a live speech but I never underestimate how low they will go.
I am far right and there was no way I was going to vote for McCain. I am now.
Fairly? The media are still working on accuracy. Need I remind?
Oh, I will. I will.
I was just asking someone dear to me that lives in Illinois, what on earth a community organizer actually does.
He figures on the weekends they much clean the streets or something.
LOL St. Louis Blues, sorry I was typing fast. I need to hit the preview button more often.
I am Sarah Palin. I am a widow and had to bring up two kids solo. Worked full time, sometimes multiple jobs. Paid for college for my kids, paid off my home, still working to prepare for retirement.
Must have been good. Both kids are college graduates. Both are employed. Daughter is a Naval Officer, son is a college coach.
I am Sarah Palin, too.
#328,
I second that. I had resigned myself to third party until this choice was announced. I wrote a sizeable check that same day and will happily vote for McCain – Palin.
Look no further than the Democrats to find elected officials who turn to blogs for personnel decisions. The Democratic Party turned to the Kossacks and the leftist nutroots to appoint Barack Obama to the Presidency.
Also, at this very moment Sally Quinn is on O’Reilly lying and saying that Palin was not properly vetted, after it has been proven over and over again in the last 24 hours that she was vetted. Quinn just also said that if Palin was a legit VP contender McCain would have put her name out there months ago to let the media vet her. Thank you for reminding us Quinny that is the media that decided this election.
Lastly, the giant that was awoken was not just conservative women it was the conservative movement as a whole.
I still say that Biden is in a back room somewhere trying on dresses to keep from getting dumped for a female.
Her name has been in the discussions at Hot Air for quite a while.
A lot of names and ideas (Lieberman, Romney, Guiliani etc. and the idea of pro-choice running mate) were floated prior to the selection being announced. Some speculated that it was to gauge possible voter reaction to various possibilities.
I would not want or expect any candidate to make decisions solely on what is said on the conservative blogs, but it is one tool they can use to gauge what people are thinking. I want elected officials to do what’s right, but political considerations will probably never be entirely eliminated.
You sure talk big like you know every so called independent in the world. However your air of authority means nothing and IS nothing. It is so much hot air. (sorry Hot Air.. I like you guys
)
You might know some “independents” that really aren’t that don’t like her.. but then you don’t know the ones that I know that she appeals to.
Please.. try to cite real facts and get off the air of authority where you have none, k?
From what I have learned of the famous community advisor he is really good at spending tax dollars with little or no accomplishments to show for it. On the other hand we have a woman that has succesfully led a small city and a state.
WTG Helene!!!
Waaaaait a minute. If Sally Quinn is on TV and Rusty is not posting….
Odd. You never see Sally and Rusty photographed together.
Sally Quinn sounded ignorant and pathetic.she knew she was lying through her teeth and didn’t care.
Take a hike Sally, you are far from the Mighty Quinn.
It’s Killin em and
I Love it!!!
McCain/Palin 08′
Image: Sally Quinn with a corncob up her rump.
Too funny, Rose. I pictured him in a wig, with lipstick and using a high-pitched voice.
I just read the weirdest comment to a post about Bristol Palin on another blog.
This woman was talking about Sarah Palin and John McCain’s belief systems and the fact that Sarah Palin said that keeping the baby was Bristol’s choice. Then she said that we should know that with McCain and Palin around, Bristol only had one choice. She went on to intimate that the press, etc has been very easy on Bristol and wonders if this was one of Obama’s daughters, would she get a free pass like Bristol Palin has been given.
Okay. If Bristol Palin has been given a free pass, I don’t want to see what happens when someone is being chastised. I guess it’s all in who is doing the
reading and commenting. Right?
Whatever he thinks will work, SandyB.
Just watched the end of the O’Reilly show (don’t ask!)…anywho it was the segment patriot or pinhead. The pinhead was a clip of (I can’t remember the guy’s name) this reporter who said that “Barack Obama is the son of a black man from Kenya and a white man from Kansas.”
An honest mistake but so very funny!
whoops “man” was supposed to be bolded.
Whew, thought you’d gone all racist on us…
Rumor has it Obama has a Palin night light to keep the neocons away.
GSP
Thanks txvet for correction earlier.
TX Rose-
Ask the Duke Lax team what its like to be chastised.
On a personal note, I have seen the chastisement when people are convinced of your guilt contrary to the evidence provided and saw some of my former shipmates that faced the wrath of nurse corps, and dental corps o’s-I know I was outed from a closet that I never in because of fabricated evidence by a BS/PH awardee.
Just my 2 cents worth…

Wazzup? Site crash?

Our oldest son went to bat for someone in the AF that had sort of the same

Just sayin’. That’s all.
not sure Dave, I thought maybe it was just me
My Quaker heritage showeth throughout.
Another poster get thrown under the bus?
She was calm as milk the whole time. Fire and ice. Fire and nice.
And real bad news for the Democrats.
Auf wiedersehen!
Great speech. Night night all.
Morning comes early.
Great speech. Outdid Giuliani, Huckabee, and Romney, hands down.
Great Speech great candidate. This woman is going places …
Quoting from the “Ladies Night” thread. I think the server blew up. There’s no comment box!
Wonder if Flinchy and Mike invited D’ohprah over to watch the final nail get hammered in the coffin? And speaking of Bela Pelosi and “they chase me with shovels” Harry Reid, can you imagine how many cognacs they tossed back to ease the pain? And then there’s Hildebeast. She’s probably ground her teeth down to nubs. (Bill was prob’ly out on a date.)
I was wondering the same – thanks for letting us know MM’s checking it aj.
There are dozens of comments I want to make, but I’ll keep it to one simple observation; one of my favorite images of the night was Cindy McCain holding Trig Palin in her arms. I knew that would happen sooner or later. She’s going to make us all proud as First Lady – and Sarah Palin is going to kick butt as VPOTUS.
Great job by Sara ‘cuda!
Very sad the other thread crashed, I love the live blogging thing. I’m going to assume the best rather than some nefarious scheme by “the proponents of free speech” to silence viewpoints they despise. Maybe I won’t assume the best
Niters all!
The lights will be burning at the DNC all night after that speech. Sucks to be them.
I made my teenage daughter watch Giuliani’s and Mrs Palin’s speeches, but she was very unhappy at the idea because she ‘hates’ politics. Until Sarah started speaking…..
About halfway through the speech, she said that she was about to start crying.
Take a second, indulge yourself, and be proud, dad!
It’s the little things in life sometimes… thks
Allow ne to render my clarity with respect to you opinions of Sarah Palin:
The elite media set her up for a do or die situation, lets face it.
She came out & showed absolutely no weakness. She was clearly not rattled by anything that’s happened over the last week. She cleared the first Gauntlet like a Ninja, & without showing any signs of stress whatsoever.
I’m confident that we will win in November, but no matter what happens, I am proud to vote for this ticket.
Well, ain’t it a shame they can’t follow me into the voting booth and tell me what to do there? Poor things!
The one thing the Dems would like to see is for conservatives to reject Sarah Palin …that way they can slip in their marxist stuffed-shirt Obama in.
Independents really don’t matter at this point because they pretty much have already gravitated to one side or the other…the block that matters is the conservative block…either they will stay home/vote for third party candidates and allow Obama the Whitehouse or they will defeat Obama by backing McCain/Palin-its that simple.
This is why the libs are scared…Obama needs conservatives to just stay home and not vote or vote third party…if we dare vote for McCain/Palin…Obama is finished Mistressjustice, Ahh! a Lion, the Otherside, and et al know this
There should be abother shirt out there as well:
“Todd Palin…the smartest (and luckiest) man in the world.”
With Sarah Palin, We are witnessing a Conservative Surge happening right in front of us.
And just like the Surge in Iraq, the Conservative Surge is going to Win!!!
Biden pointed out today that she didn’t mention health care, the econmy and the wars in her speech. She is saving that for you in the debates, you knob! We will see which side has a plan ! Biden got a tiger by the tail..I can hear the double tongue and back step now!
I just opened my Cafe press shop and will get right on designing that for ya RF!! Will ya buy one if I do?? Got a couple things on there already- a shirt and a bumper sticker- and will be doing some more logo designs etc. after supper.
Any suggestions are welcome!
