“Waking up the sleeping giant”

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 3, 2008 04:09 PM

I am conservative woman, hear me roar:

The media has done more for John McCain in the last two days than he’s done for himself in the last year and a half,” [Tom] DeLay said. “Trashing her is waking up the sleeping giant, and the sleeping giant is Republican women.”

(Link)

A movement is born. From Reader D.:

I heard about a convention attendee wearing a shirt that simply stated “I am Sarah Palin”. Hearing this a light bulb went on. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the McCain camp rolled out an “I am Sarah Palin” ad campaign? It would simply be a series of commercials that show a woman describing herself, like “I am a mom of 2 children, I am a wife, I am a PTA volunteer, I am a team mom, I am a marketing executive, I am a Democrat, etc” then the tag line, the woman says “I am Sarah Palin.”

They could have a series of women of different ages and different races giving their story, all saying in the end, “I am Sarah Palin.”

I would love to see these ads, it would drive the lefty feminists CRAZY.

Someone’s on the same wavelength. Via Jim Geraghty:

Spoke to Hugh Hewitt on radio row. He’s getting deluged with phone calls from women listeners, all saying that they’re appalled by the attacks on Sarah Palin. One has already printed up a t-shirt that says, “I AM SARAH PALIN. HER STORY IS MY STORY. BACK OFF.”

Some enterprising printer ought to consider mass-producing that, I think…

Ask and ye shall receive! Already on CafePress:

Let’s see, my mother worked nights so she could be there when her 5 children got home from school, and this was in the 60s! Sarah Palin has more in common with her, and the rest of us in “flyover states”, then anyone in the Demoractic Party hierarchy could ever dream of having. I’m considering voting for McCain just to honor both women!

The liberal media and their lemmings have definitely put their foot in it. It is uncalled for to go after a candidate’s family who has nothing to do with the candidate.

Many women can relate to Sarah’s story and that is something that many liberal women, especially nyk and MJ, don’t understand. In their warped worlds, if you’re not a slave to the Dem platform, they have no use for you. They want to understand us? Only like emptomologists who like to study insects. That’s what conservatives are to liberals.

My mother rasied 3 of us, on her own, with out graduating high school. My father abandoned us when I was 14. My wife has the same story except there were 6 kids and the father was both physicaly and sexualy abusive before he took off. Mothers who make it in these situations kick ass. But on the postive side, my fathers bad example is why I will fight to the end to prevent myself from repeating those mistakes.

I loved those photos as well: genuine, warm smiles all around. Levi shows a lot of class and courage in coming to be with Bristol. Lots of love in that family.

My prayers are with them all. I stand with Sarah Palin and John McCain.

Also, from the Weekly Standard, this is what Johnny Mac has to say:
“They’re not doing right by our vice president, they’re not doing right by the American people,” McCain said, according to a source in the room. “We’re gonna fight back, we’re gonna get ‘em.” McCain pounded his fist into his hand as he spoke, the source said, and made clear that he would be aggressively challenging those who are attacking Palin.

The McCain camp was saying over a month OK that the VP choice was going to be a big surprise, different, etc.. They could have meant Joe Lieberman I guess….but I think they knew it would be Sarah quite a while back. There is no way it was a last minute decision.

I am so jazzed about Sarah Palin. She is the kind of woman that libs are afraid of. They supposed to stand of all those minority rights when in truth these groups are being used. They really don’t get what they were promised.

bansharia, I also think that Bristol (alone or with her soon to be hubby) should introduce her mom. In fact, I have been thinking about it since yesterday! It would never happen, but I thought her speech could contain the words:

“Since I have been included in the campaign by some of my mom’s naysayers, I figured I might as well really get into the campaign tonight.”

Or something way better that I am apparently not in the mindset to come up with today. :)

The fact that Sarah Palin clearly respects the difference between herself and her daughter, illustrated by her support as opposed to throwing her daughter under the bus as Obama is apt to do, speaks volumes about Sarah Palin to anyone with at least half a brain. Unfortunately that seems to exclude liberal democrats.

I am so sick of left wing, anti-everything I hold dear, east coast skirts telling me I’ve let the sisterhood down because I choose to stay home and homeschool my kids instead of return to my high paying job. Even though our circumstances are different, I am Sara Palin. I am doing what I believe is the right thing to do in the face of a culture that assures me I am wrong. Everytime I rage against the shackles of political correctness in my own neighborhood, I am Sara Palin. Everytime I go to bed exhausted and rise before I’m rested, I’m Sara Palin. We are kindred spirits and the way Sally Quinn and the rest of the liberal chick press corps are treating Gov. Palin fully pi…hacks me off. God bless Sara Palin and her family.

Palin wakes up the far-right but alienates the independent voter which McCain desperately needed. Conservatives were going to vote for McCain anyway, only now they won’t have to hold their noses.

And I find it ironic that given the convention them of “Country First”, McCain picking Palin was a Karl Rove said “a campaign decision” not a “governing decision”. Not to mention Palin’s affiliation with a Alaska first, country second political movement.

Well, rather than “back off,” I’d like to ask, in what areas am I allowed to question Gov. Palin?
Am I allowed ask about her immigration policies, or lack thereof?
Am I allowed to ask about her lack of experience in terms of foreign policy and military affairs? Don’t give me the typical fallacious answer that “well, she has more than Obama.” My toddler is more qualified to attend kindergarten than a newborn, but that doesn’t mean he’s qualified. I care not about Obama. Convince me, on her own merits, that she’s qualified in this area.
Am I allowed to ask about her philosophies in terms of state vs. federal gov’t roles? Taxation? Purpose of gov’t? Social security?
Am I allowed to ask these questions? I’m not limited to voting either Democrat or Republican here, so don’t tell me that “she’s better than Obama.” I want to hear why she’s qualified. In that sense, no, I won’t just “back off.”

Sorry, not so. The obama “bump” to 4.4% has already droped to 3.3% over these baseless attacks. It will get worse for you.
