Yes I agree - it takes courage to leave 5 children (one with down syndrome & one pregnant) at home and go to a job that requires 24/7 attention.

And it takes a really special kind of courage to do this in front of millions of people.

Spoken like a man who has never had to make a hard choice in his life. Spoken like a person who's never had to put their kids in childcare so that they could support their families. You're unbelieveably an idiot and your drivel turns me off as a woman who wants to have children and work at the same time if need be.

Are you going to run this same opinion past active duty military women with children? Are you going to say that they should have had abortions so that they wouldn't have had to leave their children with their family while deployed? I've known many military women who've juggled it all with the same kind of grace that you will never understand.

You're a pig. Please get over yourself. Go plead your case to Gloria Steinem. I'm sure she'll understand you better than many women who work for a living with children and a husband to boot.

You don't like Sarah Palin because she's a conservative woman who doesn't fit into your simple little liberal box. It takes a special kind of courage to be an idiotic liberal. Thanks for showing me, yet again, how "understanding" and "caring" liberals are for women. Oh, I mean the women who abort their children, and proudly become enslaved to the liberal platform.

No soup for you.

bansharia,
Thanks for the advice! I do have good friends, and believe me I have no problem "culling" the ones that don't make the cut. They do care... as we all care in our small farming community in California, we/they have been frustrated as most with the National/State political stage. Living in the Central Valley of California, we focus our efforts primarily at the local level, where today's "hot topic" issues in agriculture are being played out. They are school board members, pta presidents, irrigation district board members, farm bureau board members, 4-H leaders, FFA parents, etc. In defense of my friends, they are active members in their community and informed voters... Only now, some are putting alittle more focus on the National level then they have in the past. Again, thanks for your concern.

#95 flyover state said,
Meanwhile, Obama can’t even get his own followers to take his advice and lay off the family. Isn’t one of the qualities of a leader… leading?

I want to show you something. Lets see if you see the same thing I do.
Analysis: GOP contradicts self on Palin family
In this AP article the author Ted Anthony uses the flimsy excuse that the Palins brought their kids onto the stage at the RNC, using them as political props, and this makes the kids fair game for political attack.

Of course the first problem with this twisted logic is that Obama and family appeared on the stage at the DNC, and Obama famously called off attacks on the Palin family by his people.

So they needed to get around this by finding a statement from Obama that gives them cover.

In July, he and his wife, Michelle, appeared on a four-part "Access Hollywood" interview with daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7. Obama later expressed regret about his decision to put them forward, saying, "I don't think it's healthy, and it's something that we'll be avoiding in the future."

There it is. Showing your kids in public is unhealthy as proclaimed by Obama. Thus Palin is an unfit mother by their reckoning and whatever slimy attack dog journalism they do it's really her fault.

Am I interpeting this the wrong way?

Barack Hussein Obama has no experience at anything---yet the libs want him as President? I don't think so! I would not hire him for anything. Except maybe he could negotiate a good real estate deal for me. Biden, a cazillion years in the senate that never ran anything? Give me a break!

Yea, we have McCain that doesn't really appeal to me but we have a Vice President that really appeals to me. McCain is not Conservative. She is. So I can live with the ticket. And fully support the ticket.

Barack / Biden? What a couple of lost souls. No experience on one hand, no worthwhile experience on the other hand. These two will do their best to destroy this country.

On September 4th, 2008 at 7:55 pm, Omu said:

Could conservatives please make up their mind?

First you said Barack Obama was unqualified, then you embraced Sarah Palin with open, unquestioning hands. Well, does experience matter or not?

Well, you see...one is running for president. The other is running for vice-president. They're different positions, and have different amounts of required experience.

That said, Sarah Palin has experience running a state, with a billion-dollar-plus budget, and tens of thousands of employees. Barack? Nope. And he's running for the top spot. You didn't make a very good point there. Bonk.

Then you attacked Michelle Obama, but were outraged when people started looking into Palin’s family (don’t play dumb with this either; Michelle is involved in this campaign as much as the Palin family is). It’s either okay to criticise the candidate’s family or it isn’t.

Michelle Obama inserted herself in the debate. She made public speeches. She criticized our country. Michelle Obama is also an adult. Sarah Palin's daughter made no such public speeches, and is not an adult. Point two...you lose.

And then you called Hillary a “whiner” for decrying sexism in the media. You derided her as being delusional, claiming there was no sexism. But as people criticise Palin, you are up in arms with yells of “sexism! sexism!”. Is there sexism or isn’t there?

Wrong. Nobody said she was whining. When her folks said the media was in the tank for Obama, she was right, and we agreed. It had nothing to do with sexism.

You're not very good at making points. Maybe you'll get better.

At the end of the postings here, MM has a large-type "Leave a comment", followed by a "Need help"?

May I suggest MM lists some nation-wide "intervention" crisis centers in the latter?

When lgm, rusty, omu and the rest finally understand how disturbed they are, and seek professional assistance, we should give them hotlines to call.

After all, a Phila Enquirer columnist has threatened riots across the country if The One isn't elected.

Shouldn't we give Our Trolls one last chance to avoid having their heads busted in, or wrorse, before taking to the streets to "protest" and of course loot [ aka liberate] while they're at it??

Let's think about this "experience" thing.

Obama took office in 2005. The Senate is in session 109 days a year. Let's be generous and assume Obama missed no days at all. And let's give him credit for all of 2008 even though the year isn't over. And let's pretend his three years of campaigning hasn't taken him away from his duties. That is 4 times 109 or 436 days.

Palin took office in December 2006. Let's assume she missed no days. Oh, wait, even if she was sick, she still carried the responsiblities of a Governor. But, let's just say she was never sick. And let's give her credit for all of 2008. That would be 2 years times 365 plus 27 days for December 2006 which is 757 days.

Gosh, maybe 436 is more than 757 in "Obamamath." But, for the rest of us it doesn't work that way.

Didn't the Dems used to make fun of someone for "fuzzy math?"

Gosh, all this hyperventilation over a candidate for a position that a previous officeholder declared to be "ain't worth a pitcher of warm spit." If anything, Gov. Palin may be overqualified.

First you said Barack Obama was unqualified, then you embraced Sarah Palin with open, unquestioning hands. Well, does experience matter or not?

Experience in what? Legislating that children be aborted in the 4th trimester?

(This comment may be doubled, if so, I apologize)

Governor Palin's experience has lately been a tin can that gets kicked along without any real consideration of what she has done.

Here are four video clips from CNBC, all filmed before Palin became McCain's Vice President candidate.

Particularly telling is how Palin's administration negotiated the pipeline deal and drilling leases based upon the value of finite resources (oil, gas) OWNED by all Alaskans.

A large portion of her 'reform' work in Alaska has been focused on going after crooked politicians who took kickbacks from oil companies to create sweetheart deals. Her administration overturned those deals and negotiated newer, fairer ones with incentives to actually develop the resource. Additionally, there are clauses that change the value of lease based upon the market price of the resource, so at no time do Alaskans sell their finite resource and then stand around with their proverbial $24 of beads.

Her work , i.e experience, has a sophistication that is completely overlooked, except by CNBC's reporters.

nb, notice how McCain's position shifted between these two.
