One more thing about that “someone wrote the speech for her” insult
I noted the condescending comment from several talking heads last night who kept stressing that Gov. Palin’s speech was written for her. (Link.) These dumpers presume to know how much input Gov. Palin had in the crafting of the speech. They presume she sat in another room while the men did all the work for her. But no Beltway speechwriter came up with her pit bull/hockey mom crack — one of the funniest of the night. And no Beltway speechwriter imbued her with the poise, humor, experience, grace, and savvy that made that speech a smashing success.
And one more thing: Perhaps in deriding Palin’s speech-written speech, the dumpers should see fit to mention that at least her speechwriters didn’t plagiarize.

***
Commenter Socky: “The real irony is that the Obama campaign sent out a talking point to criticize the speech as being written by someone else, and his obedient sheep in the media repeated the talking point. So, they were complaining about her giving speech that was written for her by reciting a talking point that was written for them.”
Mark Levin weighs in:
I have never been a fan of speech-writers who reveal themselves. It is demeaning to the person for whom they work and, frankly, a betrayal of an unspoken code of ethics. And I don’t think it helps the speech-writer who wants to remain anonymous for others to reveal him. Speech-writing and speech-giving are a collaborative process. But the words are only part of it. Whether the speech is successful and has a broad appeal requires more than clever wording. A great speech in the hands of a poor orator is an announcement. Middling language in the hands of a greater orator can be a timeless oration. A great speech requires superior communication skills, including emoting and pacing and connecting. These are things that speech-writers cannot accomplish. And the speaker has to mean the words and defend them and stand by them. It is odd and disquieting that more and more speech-writers, on their own or others on their behalf, seem to claim ownership of their boss’s message. There’s just something unseemly about it to me — credit taken for the Challenger speech, “the axis of evil,” etc., etc. When the words come out of the speaker’s mouth, they belong to the speaker. I notice speech-writers don’t take credit for bad speeches.
Tou-che.

Lest we forget — who writes the speeches for The One? So, please. Spare me the CNN-induced hatred and just take the speech for what it was. A speech.
Palin is the best pick McCain could have ever made, bar none. Deal with it, MSM.
And thanks, Michelle.
The real irony is that the Obama campaign sent out a talking point to criticize the speech as being written by someone else, and his obedient sheep in the media repeated the talking point.
So, they were complaining about her giving speech that was written for her by reciting a talking point that was written for them.
Yeah, like Obama writes all that junk himself. If he did, they’d be swooning over what a brilliant writer he is. Puhleez!
Next argument.
I didn’t notice anyone mention that FDR had speech writers; Truman and Kennedy had speech writers, that Reagan had speech writers. They’re picking on a Barracuda and they’re gonna get bit!
It’s really pathetic.
Considering Palin has a journalism degree, it’s occurred to me these MSM hacks are just jealous she’s parlayed her degree into something more worthwhile, while they’re just left to be angry guttersnipes.
If Obama didn’t have speechwriters, we’d be subject to The Wizard of Uhhhs every day.
Yeah because no political figure hires speech writers
Ha! they spoke way to fast on that one, it was immediately after the HER SPEECH…. That’s the trouble with the lib media… they don’t think first and it’s hard for them to remember all the lies. truth you never forget.
It’s Killin em and
I Love it!!!

Good one Socky.
So what if she didn’t “write” the speech?? If an orator cannot DELIVER the speech, one could make the Gettysburg Address sound like Dr. Seuss!
Sara ROCKS!!!
Even if she didn’t write it, as much as any speech I’ve heard she sounded like she was speaking her own words. I got no sense she was even reading it. She could just as well have memorized it, or even be speaking extemporaneously, as far as I could tell. That’s a real mark of an integrated character — her thoughts, words, feelings, and actions all in sync with each other. No duplicity, manipulation, or hidden motive. She comes across as the real deal. If she’s faking that, good for her!
And she did it without a teleprompter.
I would love to see Obama try that.
…as if no other politician uses speechwriters.
…as if Obama hasn’t enlisted former JFK speechwriters to make his speeches “sparkle”
…as if this is the only thing they can rail against.
Can they really be this stupid?
First they bring up experience, a huge Obama weak point. She has it, he doesn’t, yet they push it.
Now they want to ridicule speech making, which is Obama’s strong suit.
They really are that out of touch.
And isn’t it nice to see bittergate come back. Who cares what Peggy Noonan said when the mike was off. I’m more concerned with what Obama said when the mike was off. And so are most Americans.
Joe should have had someone write his last week in PA.

Apparently he is such a steelers fan that he doesn’t know what year they won the SuperBowl.
Paul-Cincy …
In fact the teleprompter was out of whack for much of her speech because it kept running during the long applause and cheering and was way beyond where she was in the speech … so most of her delivery was from … Memory …
BTW … same thing happened to Rudy last night … so much of his was not exactly as written …
There were so many good lines in the Palin speech… the pit bull with lipstick, unlike community organizers, mayors have responsibilities, the styrofoam greek columns, “The fact that drilling won’t solve every problem isn’t an excuse to do nothing at all.”
Can anyone remember a single noteworthy line from Uhbama’s 45-minute snooze-arama?
The trolls will repeat the talking point that Obama’s speech was heard by 40 million people. Well, 120 million people voted in the last election. Obama got a three point bounce out of the convention. Not a 30% bounce, which one would expect if his speech had won over forty million people.
So, he was either preaching to the choir, or twenty million people turned to the other twenty million and said. “That’s it? That’s what the hype was about? I haven’t been this disappointed since Matrix Revolutions.”
guitarplayer … you beat me to it …
Oh but you see, she went to University of Idaho, not some elitist school like Columbia for her journalism degree, so her degree doesn’t count.
Having worked for politicans, I can tell you that even if someone writes their speech, they heavily edit it and make it their own. It was obvious she had input to the speech and did a great job delivering it. Boy, are the dems scared now. And they should be!
Michelle loves me! I feel special!
Biden is just sad. I caught a glimpse of him this morning, and he looked utterly deflated after Palin’s upbeat speech last night.
A lot of the media played this same speech writing card on Ronald Reagan. It turned out he had quite a bit of impact on his speeches – and there are numerous examples of where he modified his speeches in hand written notes.
As someone who has given a lot speeches in my life, I can tell you that Palin could not have done such a great job if she was a non-participant in writing the speech. Further, the fact that she was able to keep going without missing a beat when the teleprompter somehow misfunctioned (Where is the investigation please?) shows just how much of an input she had to the speech. This woman is no talking head that you just dump information into it – quite unlike Obama.
Biden was carrying on this morning like his va-jay-jay was hurt. When asked about Guiliani’s speech (which he missed), he asked ‘how many times did he mention 9/11?’
Mister Biden…how many times was September 11, 2001 mentioned at the DNC?
She gets extra points for the delivery since she had to wing a good part of it. See #10
I was thinking the same thing this morning as I intentionally went to each of the networks to check their reaction. “All” three networks had Biden on immediately after their reports on Palin’s speech, and he said exactly the same thing on each one!! Who is his fricken writer?!?
I watched Biden with Brian Kilmead. It was hilarious. Every time Biden lied, Kilmead looked started. Biden lied so much that Kilmead really didn’t know what to do so he just shut up.
Governor Palin made a remarkable speech that was very warmly received. I suppose the Democrats and their friends in the media are a little jealous that those in attendance at the RNC didn’t look bored as they did during the DNC last week. Palin received a first class welcome by the audience.
I have it on good authority that Aaron Sorkin writes Obama’s speeches.
we well know how the obamination does without a teleprompter…the debate between biden and Sarah will be very interesting…I usually don’t watch debates but that one I will gladly tune in to…I hope biden brings some body armor he’ll need it
OT: I really want an Obama/Palin debate. I think she’s kick his buns.
It’s not just Biden; Obama has re-cycled sizable chunks of speeches used by his good buddy Deval Patrick, the (sad to say) current governor of Massachusetts.
And that’s not hearsay; I live in Massachusetts (yes, there are conservatives in the Bog State – do we qualify for the endangered species list?), so was subjected to Patrick’s Together We Can and Change of Direction mantras during his gubernatorial campaign, and endured all the speechifying.
Anyone who can read knows just how that’s all worked out.
That smell outside this morning is F.E.A.R. not Jerzee….. lmao
It’s Killin em and
I Love it!!!
McCain/Palin 08′
Image: DeMoCrAtS sHaKiNg….
She’d not she’s. oops.
The MSM and the left are reeling from this speech, because it was totally unpredictable and there is nothing they can do about it. They can complain all they want however the speech was still given. They are running scared because they can’t stop this.
Sour grapes….
After McCain whupped Obie’s butt at Saddleback the talking heads said he cheated because McCain did so well. Palin mopped up the floor with Libs, Jobama, the talking heads, etc… and all they have is: she used Bush’s speechwriter.
It’s not fair… I think I hear the waaaahmbulance coming. Losers.
How much krud is left on the bottom of that cess pool?
Watch it, bud.
Kathleen “The Abortion Queen” Sebelius also repeats the talking point.
Bitter much, Miss Not-Obama’s-VP?
Michelle,
Joe Biden was nationally vetted in 1988 and proven to be both a plagiarist (in law school and on the campaign trail) and a liar (his repeated lies about being at the top of his class and receiving more than one undergraduate degree.) For these violations of basic trust and character, he was forced to step down and cancel his Presidential aspirations.
Twenty years later, Barack Obama vetted the same Joe Biden and obviously found his history of proven lies and plagiarism to be acceptable within the overall selection for someone who could be but “one heartbeat away from the US Presidency.”
Why do Democrats find Biden’s traits of bad character and poor judgment acceptable today when they rejected them twenty years ago? Is this a product of a poor vetting process on Obama’s part, or is it problematic of a drop in standards on the part of today’s Democrat Party as a whole?
I’m frightened by the
polarPalinity! Can I hire Rudy to give a locker room pep talk before each Seahawk game?
all the negative comebacks, don’t bother… lol
O’Bama attempt at writing speech before pre-emptive editing by handlers:
Uhhhh, I uhhhhh, am the uhhhh, Messiah, I uhhhh, am the uhhhh, One.
Uhhhh, I uhhhhh, am the uhhhh, Messiah, I uhhhh, am the uhhhh, One.
Uhhhh, I uhhhhh, am the uhhhh, Messiah, I uhhhh, am the uhhhh, One.
Uhhhh, I uhhhhh, am the uhhhh, Messiah, I uhhhh, am the uhhhh, One.
Uhhhh, I uhhhhh, am the uhhhh, Messiah, I uhhhh, am the uhhhh, One.

Gov. Palin’s speech was OUTSTANDING!!!
As for the Dems, This political cartoon says it all!!
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/04/garner-sept-4-cartoon/
The sheer Palinity of the situation overwhelms them!
Great cartoon! Thanks for the link.
I guess Barack Obama writes all his own speeches?
I’d rather not know, thank you very much. (ó.ò)
Great cartoon Madchef! How true, how true.
Nope, he is the One.
He just opens his mouth and pure ecstasy comes out.
Sour grapes by nothing more than “news readers”. None of these clowns write their own material – it’s given to them before they go “on air” and they sit there like the dummies they are and read the notes – frequently not even getting it right.
Shut up, dumbasses.
As I recall, during the Cold War, we knew what the USSR was up to by what it was accusing us of. Marxists obviously have not changed.
That aside, at least it wasn’t written by a plagiarist. you know, someone like…oh yeah, Joe Biden.
Big emphasis last night about “she didn’t write her speech”. Thought I was hearing things when I first heard it… Than heard it channel surfing from PMSNBC to CNN, heard several more times.. What a bunch of OBVIOUS MSM bias… Of course we all know B. HUSSEIN writes ALL his own words of WISDOM…
Good one! (b^_^)b
BLAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Wow…53 posts and no troll telling us that Obama writes his own speeches.
Impressive.
Funny, Obama is KNOWN for being an empty suit who gives good speeches, yet I have never once heard anyone point out that they were written for him.
I also heard the pundits last night questioning, with a serious face, whether Palin can speak without a teleprompter. Nina Easton, in particular, had the cojones to push this “concern” last night after pointing out someone else wrote her speech. At least Brit Hume called her on it.
Silly sumbeaches.
Here you go buddy! (I haven’t seen it yet bc of the firewall)
Obama Teleprompter goes out:
After hearing Biden’s acceptance speech I would highly suggest he either use a speech writter or fire the one he has.
As a public speaker myself, I can say (as if anyone needed me to tell them this) she owned that speech. Like she owned the MSM. And like she owned Obama.
When my wife got home from work, she wanted to go to bed, but I told her you gotta see this speech. Tired as she was, she LOVED it! When I watched the speech a second time, I noticed Palin’s grace under pressure, her competence, her smirky, sarcastic attitude, and her beauty. Just like my wife! What is it about conservative women? They can work, be successful, be great mothers, and look drop dead gorgeous all at the same time!
And on an unrelated note, my wife also told me this morning we’re pregnant again! We are so blessed!
Sarah is a winner, and I’m satisfied that her speech is an accurate reflection of WHO she is and WHAT she believes. It is also obvious that the Democratic response was written before the speech was delivered. Simply more of the lame noises that seem to emanate from the Obama clowns.
I needed a good laugh today.
Congratulations!
Cograts Trollman, another BLESSING.
Sorry for the vulgarity (15 years of Catholic school can do that sometimes)
“Sarah America, F%^* Yeah!”
.
The talking points haven’t been posted yet.
But we know that. And we also know that McCain, Obama, and Biden all have writers for their speeches.
The issue is not who drafts the words but whether or not the speaker is being honest in speaking those words to us.
And who presents themselves as the most honest speaker out of these four? It isn’t Biden, that’s for sure. Obama and McCain have their own issues with respect to being perceived and genuine.
So the only one left who’s character hasn’t been completely smeared or assassinated in some way by the
freakfree press is Palin. But what they have dug up on Palin over the past couple days has just made her appear more normal to the voters, more genuine, and more honest.Ironically, the dishonesty of the media hacks is reflecting how honest Palin really is.
navywife, Obama tried to write his own speech, but after 30 minutes of typing the “u” and “h” keys quit working.
I think it’s funny how Obama is attacking her, as if she’s his opponent, not McCain. And so breathtakingly ironic.
Palin seems to relish it, she had a mischievous grin last night as she fired back at all of these lame lightweights and put them all in their place.
GO MCCAIN/PALIN
Now that’s the kind of off-topic comment no one can object to.
Congratulations, Trollman!
The MSM’s comments on Palan’s presentation were at best a reaction to there loss of power. They are just pissed off because they didn’t create Palan.
Me, too.
And much of Reagan’s most memorable words were his own. Remember he had to fight his own administration to keep the words “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” But he had earned the right to say this after a lifetime of fighting communism, and he knew it. Brilliant leader and orator.
Sarah could very well become a female Ronald Reagan, if she keeps this up.
You mean the “i” and Caps keys did not burn out first?
I I I I I I I I I
No, they really think we are that stupid.
Congrats Trollman! Wow, you guys must have been fired up over Palin’s speech. You sure did not waste any time making us another little conservative who will grow up and fight the evils of liberalism in the future!
I wonder if we are going to see a bump in the conservative birthrate come next June?
Congrats, Trollman!
Good one!!
And congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Trollman!! What a great blessing. Thanks for sharing your news!
What I found surprising was even a couple of the talking heads on FOX were also strangely remarking about the “She didn’t write her speech” meme like it was some kind of profound revelation before Brit Hume reeled them in.
The debates will tell, especially if the questions aren’t pre-released. Without a teleprompter Hopenchange will fold up like a house of cards in a hurricane (witness his eight-question press conference before he stalked off in a huff and his last disastrous debate against Hillary), and Biden won’t have anything say if he can’t steal someone else’s words.
McCain’s ability to handle unscripted moments is already known (which is why “anytime, anywhere” Obama doesn’t dare engage him in a townhall format), and after seeing her speak for the first time last night I have much more confidence in Palin’s ability to mop the floor with the plagiarizer.
As John Kerry said in 2004, “Bring It On!” The debates should give a good impression of how much fun it was for the Romans to watch unarmed convicts taking on lions and bears in the arena.
As they say in middle school, “You’re just jealous!”
what i have figured out about Obamitler: he attacks accusing his opponents of the very thing he himself has done.
does anyone think that Obama writes his own speeches? does anyone think for one moment that when he set out as illinois state senate, and accused his opponents of fraudulent signatures, that he himself had not done the same thing? who would have thought to review all of the signatures of both of his candidates for ‘inaccuracies’ if he himself were not quilty? when he accuses Gov. Palin of inexperience, was he not again taking his own weaknesses and transfering them to his opponent?
once again, we surely know that Obama can’t right anything but his autobiography; and I am not so sure he was the sole writer on those two endeavors, either!
It was the eeeevvviiilll Sean Hannity that wrote her speech. Yeah, that’s it. The Republican party is controlled by him and the hate-mongering, Dem-bashing, gun toting, God clinging, individual rights stealing, women oppressing, homophobic, fascist, police state, free speech deniers in his audience.
I’m tired of these hair models behind desks in TV studios. Everyone knows THEY read a teleprompter when doing the news, and everyone knows they don’t write the news…the producers do.
OH, and congratulations trollman!
Even though she was apparently speaking from memory, I don’t remember her uttering a single “uh”, “ah”, or stutter in the whole speech. That’s amazing. In the same situation, Obama is a blathering idiot.
Even if someone else wrote the speech, which I doubt, it shows how thoroughly prepared she was.
One of the strangest comment s from a lefty blogger last night was ” Sure she did well. She actually believed that stuff she was saying”.
And this is a bad thing?/sarc
And isn’t that refreshing that someone actually does believe what they’re saying instead of just saying what they think people want to hear.
The tables have turned my friends!
Obama probably does write his own speech.
Note the singular. He’s said nothing different to anyone in any of his speeches. A trained baboon could write (or at least sign) “hope change” and “yes we can.” That’s all I’ve heard from him since he inadvertently became the democratic nominee.
He’s like season one of “24.” They got past episode six and realized people were actually watching–so they went back to the “Jack Bauer’s wife gets kidnapped” well…again.
Same old story. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
I posted a link ealier to video of when Obama’s prompter went out (I haven’t seen it), maybe it didn’t work since nobody commented on it.
LMAO!!!
Thanks, sambo!!
It’s there. I just got back from lunch a little while ago. Thanks again for posting.
Whenever Odopey speaks he reminds me of this…
sounds just like her
Only difference is she looks goooood.
Thank you for all the warm wishes. Children truly are gifts from God.
Some other good news from this morning:
I noticed on Morning Joe that there were some liberal women commentators who were giving Palin (muted) praise. These were the same women that, until now, had been tearing into Palin.
However, this morning, something was different. I got the impression that their praise was muted, not because they weren’t impressed by Palin, but because they really liked Palin and were trying to avoid the scorn of their liberal peers.
These (liberal) women really identified with Palin in a way that I don’t think most men can even recognize. She was one of them. I think there are a lot of women out there who are going to go into the privacy of that voting booth, whisper “You go girl”, and pull the lever for McCain/Palin.
You’ve heard of the Bradley effect. Well, I think after this election, there will be a new phrase coined – the Palin effect. Don’t believe the polls. Republicans will win both the man & woman vote this year.
Trollman; Congratulation dad!
I have three grown daughters. They now have strong national political women as a role model. If you have a girl, she’ll have that benefit, at early age, my girls never had. Good luck and remind your wife to Breath… Breath
That is still painful to watch!
Congrats!!
(wait, are you sure you’re not misreprenting that you made a “mistake”? because I think the libs believe you are being punished.)
Ah, daughters…
Living proof that “you reap what you sow” AND “paybacks are hell”.
I, too, hope to bring another tiny little conservative into the world this coming December. With a little luck, and strong women leaders like Sarah Palin, my daughters (present and future included) will have someone other than Britney Spears and Hanna Montana to emulate.
I’m old enough to have seen/heard Reagan speak “back in the day”, even though it occured during my high school and college days, when I had more important matters on my mind. Watching Sarah Palin eviscerate the entire Democratic Platform in that speech brough back those “Reagan moments” like deja-vu!
BTW- This speechwriter wrote for G.W. Bush??!??! What the hell is wrong with Bush’s oratory talents that he couldn’t take what this obviously-talented writer put to paper and use it to the same devastating effet as Gov. Sarah Palin?
Now it’s McCain’s turn to step up to the mic. Will he remain low-key and underwhelming, or will we see “Saddleback Mac” again?
Our first child is a girl, but she isn’t old enough to understand the significance of it all just yet.
On her first day at preschool, a boy in her class came up to her and said “You’re pretty” and followed her around all day. I already hate boys.
A few months ago, when Hillary was still running against Obama, she said this in one of her prayers: “Thank you for Barack Obama, and McCain, and that woman [Hillary]”
I guess I watch too much news.
She referred to Jeremiah Wright as “Loud Man”. Out of the mouths of babes…
I don’t have babies, I adopt teenagers. Nevertheless, congrats to all expectant and recently blessed right-wingers! Don’t let your babies grow up to be metrosexuals!
If this is hell I can’t wait for heaven.
It takes special people for that task too. Congrats to you also.
Heaven will be when other peoples boys are not part of the picture.
