Obama’s Viacom thugs strike.
Reader M.G. writes that the MTV Awards show was the latest venue for vicious Palin family-bashing:
“I know a few people at Viacom and I tuned in to see the MTV music awards tonight. I was disgusted and appalled when the British host Russell Brand started begging America to vote for Barack Obama. Like his opinion matters. He’s not even a citizen. What’s worse is that he attacked Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter. He made a snide joke that her baby was not a boy or a girl, but a P.R. stunt.”
You can watch Brand’s opening screed here. This cretin’s claim to fame? Dressing up as Osama bin Laden on the day after the September 11 terrorist attacks.

I’ve transcribed some of his Obama endorsement and GOP-bashing, which occurred barely 3-4 minutes into the show:
BRAND: “Now, as a representative of the global community and a visitor from abroad, I don’t want to come across a little bit biased, but could I please ask of you people of America, to PLEASE ELECT BARACK OBAMA. Please! On behalf of the world. (Camera pans to singers Chris Brown and Britney Spears applauding and cheering.) Some people, I think they’re called racists, say that America is not ready for a black president. But I know America to be a forward-thinking country, right. Because, otherwise, you know, would you have let that retarded cowboy fellow be president for eight years?
We were very impressed. It was nice of you to let him have a go. Because in England, George Bush wouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.
I am obliged by broadcasting law to show some balance in this situation, which means, uh, the Republicans might be alright. Sarah Palin. She’s a VILF! A vice president I’d like to…fumble, fondle, I dunno. I do feel a little bit sorry for her daughter, getting pregnant, poor kid. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? It’s a P.R. stunt. Come on. Be honest.
And I feel most sorry for that poor teenaged father. Boy. One minute, he’s just a teenaged lad in Alaska having joyful, unprotected sex. And the next minute: Get to the Republican convention. I think that is the best safe sex message of all time. Use a condom or become Republican! …That boy will spend the rest of his life masturbating while wearing a condom…
…New music, new president, and brand new America. And you people deserve it after eight years of Bush. I promise you, you deserve it…
MTV, of course, is a division of left-wing media giant Viacom. Viacom’s PAC is among Barack Obama’s biggest supporters. Last year, Viacom PAC forked over $80,200 in contributions to Obama — ranked 19th highest among his PAC donors.
By August 2008, National Amusements, media kingpin Sumner Redstone’s political cash machine, had contributed $352,603 to the Obama camp.
Through the company Redstone owns controlling interests CBS, Viacom (which owns MTV, BET), Paramount Pictures, and Dreamworks…Beyond the six figure donation, Redstone can donate “in-kind” with favorable press to the Obama campaign – look for the media maven to ride out his agenda to the fullest extent possible.
In other words: Expect the Hollyweird crowd to continue using every entertainment and gossip outlet available them to tear down the Palin family to salvage their precious Obamessiah. Smell that? It’s the bitter odor of desperation.

Wow. Check out the viewer backlash at the MTV Labs Blog. Looks like Brand also mocked Christian youths who wear promise rings and ridiculed the popular Jonas Brothers band as well. A sample:

I was soooo excited for the VMAs (to see the Twilight cast in particular), but I hope that MTV realizes that around 1/2 of america doesn’t share that idiot’s views, and that I turned the channel when he started making a joke of Bristol Palin’s teenage pregnance. How dare he sink so low as to humiliate that poor girl on National TV, call those of us NOT supporting Obama racist or insult our country and our President. I don’t care what he thinks, but I hope MTV realizes this is their last Award show I will tune into watch. We do not watch MTV for political commentary, nor are we swayed by his remarks. I think Democrats should be just as outraged to have this piece of English TRASH speaking on their behalf.
upset MTV fan (09.07.08 | 11:43 PM)
I think it was very rude for MTV allowing that man to make fun of “promise rings” and the people who have chosen to stand for their beliefs, like the Jonas Brothers. I believe that actions should be taken to repremand him and the people who allowed this to continue throught the entire program. My friends and I have always watched the award show and have always been in support of MTV, but after tonight I have no respect for the Awards show or MTV. What really conserns me are the millions of children who are at the age where they get their behaviors and ideas from media like MTV; many who were wearing promise rings and keeping the promise may now give up the ring and the promise inorder to please the media, who are the trend setters. I would really like to see this man punished for his actions and speech. He also bad mouthed the republicans and incouraged sexual intercourse.
Nautiguy (09.07.08 | 11:43 PM)
Morons, what were you thinking? Did you honestly think that we would just roll over and accept the political BS you tried to shove down our throats on the VMA’s with that Brit Ahole. It’s ad enough Americans are trashing our leaders (good or bad) in front of the world, we certainly don’t need some foreign idiot like Brand acting as your surogate to express your political views. I think you can see by the other blogs that you gravely miscalculated your audience. If this is the kind of Rabid leftist agenda I can expect from Obama supprters, then McCain/Palin is the way I’m going. Good job idiots.
6string_wannabe (09.07.08 | 11:43 PM)
I’m sure I’m one of many who was very disappointed in the choice of host for the 2008 VMAs. Russell Brand was way out of line making the comments he did about the Jonas Brothers and their personal choices. I don’t care what your reputation is, to disrespect and mock the values of other human beings in front of millions of people is completely unacceptable. I am a fan of the Jonas Brothers, but that is not the fuel behind these comments. It is a relief to finally have a group of people in the entertainment business who are not ashamed to let people know what they believe in and not give in to the pressures of society; to poke fun at that is incredibly immature. So to you Mr. Brand, if this is how you plan to get ahead in life, good luck.

You couldn’t get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience—From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate is this who MTV thinks we should vote for?
bholder78 (09.07.08 | 11:42 PM)
I cant believe MTV is actually showing it again.

I have been a loyal fan of MTV for years.. I was so excited to watch the VMA’s this year as always.. As soon as the show comes on you have a host who isn’t even an american bashing our president and giving one sided opinions of John Mccain.. All I can say is that I was so grossed out I turned the channel never to return until you have that weirdo come back on and publicly say sorry for the remarks made.. The VMA’s is not any place for political views.. I wanted to see my fav singers win well deserved awards not a total freak bashing my country. Not to mention making fun of upstanding young men who are setting a good example to numerous young adults…

Ya’ll might also want to try to complain with the FCC on the insulting remarks and sexual comments made!!! COMPLETELY INNAPROPRIATE FOR TELEVISION!!!!!!!!!!! TELL AND COMPLAIN TO, EVERYONE.

I am totally disgusted with MTV. Why did you have to choose an idiot like Russell Brand to be host of the VMA’s. He was vulgar and this show is not a vehicle for anyone’s political opinions. This show is supposed to entertain us not lecture us on who the next president should be. Everyone has their own opinions. Also, you should know that kids watch this show too!!! This year’s show was not rated G and I think the fans deserve a very BIG APOLOGY for this disaster.
#
omysweetestsinx (09.07.08 | 11:41 PM)who cares about the “entertainers” im still soooo pissed about the host saying that crap about our president and the republican canidates.. i am a PROUD mccain and palin supporter! you lost a lot of your viewers and im never watching yall again… you need to apologize to everyone… this is out right unprofessional and innapproperate… im appalled
#alyssarae22 (09.07.08 | 11:40 PM)
i hope you learned you lesson on how to choose a host. that guy was nasty, disrespectful, and full of ****! not only to jonas brothers but to everyone with morals. “a little sex never hurt anyone”? seriously? what about ****** STD’s?! WOW I think you owe an apology to everyone who watched the vmas that were most likely offended by it.
beauty (09.07.08 | 11:40 PM)
MTV’s so out of control. The idiot with the english accent they had hosting the awards ruined the show. People don’t watch to be irritated, we watch for the entertainment. I for one, and I know I’m not alone, will never watch the MTV awards again. The smuck host needs to go back to the UK and shut his big ugly trashy mouth. The people of this great country do not need the ugly idiot host or MTV to try and persuade us who to vote for. MTV you really messed up this time. Over and out, one proud American.
JGot2 (09.07.08 | 11:39 PM)
That was possibly the worst awards show i have ever seen. That was definitely the worst host. The guy was not funny at all and was so rudely liberal that he embarrassed the liberal party. Everyone in the audience was wondering what in the hell was going on. MTV should be embarrassed for the show that they put on.
And that’s just the first page of more than 4,000 comments.

Update: More backlash. On the official MTV Video Music Awards site, you can watch the full video. MTV promoted “The Genius of Russell Brand” — prompting tons of commenters to bash MTV’s Obama-promoting propagandist:
alibrooke 09.08.08 | 12:15 AM
I’m very disappointed in MTV’s choice for Russell Brand as the host. He was horrible. MTV should be ashamed of his performance tonight.

I wonder if MTV seriously looked into this guy because, he is by far the worst host EVER!!! First of all i cant believe how many people on here like russell because he said “VOTE FOR OBAMA”, this had absolutely nothing to with the election and it shouldnt have been brought up at all especially from someone who has no say at all. Thanks but we didnt want your 2 cents!! I can only imagine how much mtv’s ratings will go down after this. No one should think its right to put something so good, down. That being THE JONAS BROTHERS purity rings!!! Personally i think its sexy how they’ve stayed so committed to staying virgins its something new and something our country needs right about now! And if you have nothing good to say about Russell, please DO speak your mind!!!
kaseyk68 09.08.08 | 12:11 AM
Russell Brand not only embarrased all of America but he embarrased himself. I believe that one should be a citizen of this great country to have a say in how we run our democracy. His shots at Govenor Palin and her family were uncalled for. My friends and I looked forward to the VMA’s this year but couldn’t have been more dissapointed. Ideally by the disrespect shown by Brand. MTV dropped the ball on this one. I will no longer watch MTV anymore due to the lack of respect shown to some of its viewers.

Just in case you missed it, this is the same guy who dressed up as Osama bin Laden the day after September 11th on British MTV and then was fired. Need I say more?

Update: The Associated Press gives the former drug and sex addict Russell Brand’s “candid” performance two thumbs up…
Russell Brand seemed a little out of place as the host at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Not because he’s British or relatively unknown in America, as most of the chatter was about before Sunday night’s show from Los Angeles.
It was because Brand injected the VMAs with blunt politics, self deprecation, unabashed sexuality, and, yes, plenty of off-color remarks.
…Early in his opening monologue, Brand pleaded: “Please, America, elect Barack Obama. On behalf of the world.”
…Partisanship, of course, can hurt sales. But Brand was refreshingly ignorant of many of the concerns that keep the lips of American pop stars zipped. For good measure—and surely stepping over the line—Brand referred to President Bush as “that retarded cowboy fellow.”
After all, Brand has built his image on his candor and edginess. He’s well-known across the pond as a standup comic, TV show host and radio DJ—but more so as an outlandish and hedonistic figure who speaks unabashedly about his prior drug and sex addictions.
… Brand surely won at least as many enemies as fans on Sunday night. But in contrast to some of the personality-less pop stars this “American Idol”-crazy country has been producing lately, an import was a welcome change.

When I was playing music for a living in the early 80’s, MTV was about the music.
Now, it seems, it’s all about the mouth.
Brand is a genuinely funny man who takes outrageous positions on a number of issues and numerous positions on outrageous issues. He loves to offend just about anyone but does it in a charming and, in the end, inoffensive way. Yes, I reaiize that I sound deranged, but it’s true.
He blew it big time on his MC job and people are certainly entitled to write letters if they wish.
But listen to his BBC podcasts or even watch St Trinians. The man is funny.
genuine conservative/libertarian with a funnybone
I suggest making a complaint to the FCC for inkind contributions from Viacom….that is what I will be doing today!
No, we don’t want to go down this road, or they’ll also decide that commentary from Rush, Sean, et al, should be counted as well. (This was tried, unsuccessfully, against a couple of conservative radio hosts in Seattle a while back.)
Message to Russel Brand:
“Everyone has the right to state their opinion. But no one has the right to be taken seriously.” Will Rogers
How can you take this idiot seriously? After all “Rolling Stone” and “US” are the kinds of magazines that promote him. He’s got 5 minutes of fame left.
I kept hoping the Jonas Brothers would just walk out. Why even validate that wasteland of human debauchery with your presence?
Asking foreigners who they want as President of the USA is like asking Giant fans who they want as the Dallas Cowboy’s quarterback.
Sometimes I wonder if liberals stop their emotional and intellectual development at age 2. They seem to honestly believe that it reflects favorably on Obama (or John Kerry in 2004) that foreigners want him elected President. Are they serious?
Of course foreigners want the weak, inexperienced, stuffed-shirt candidate to win. They clearly stand to benefit from a weak, ashamed, UN-loving America that Obama has in store for us all.
I wonder if Russell Brand is an example of Bristish higher intelligence and more civilized behavior that Gwyneth Paltrow keeps talking about. Wow, Gweneth, classy company you keep in England. No wonder you scorn Americans.
British…sorry for error and Gwyneth. Gee, too early in the morning to be this annoyed.
Excuse me, but you do not need talent to do that and be judged “funny.” Anyone can be funny by telling a dirty joke. Being clean and inoffensive while being funny. That is talent and pure genius. Red Skelton, Steven Wright; that is talent, not this amatuer.
every time one of these lunatic fringe eurotrash COMEDIANS opens his/her mouth, the mccain/palin ticket looks better, because the obama/biden ticket is being endorsed by people you wouldn’t let into your house.

Never mess with a vet.
I have no intention of bashing Europeans in general, but isn’t this Brand fellow the sort that the word “Euro-trash” was coined to describe?
What most Europeans don’t seem to realize is that if the US does indeed elect BO, our country could become measurably weaker (think about what an un-distracted Bill Clinton might have “accomplished”). If that happens, Europeans may find themselves largely responsible for their own defense, busting what’s left of their failing socialist economies and plunging the world into “emerging economy” darkness. In other words, a world dominated economically, and perhaps militarily, by the Russians and Chinese.
Personally, I haven’t seen much evidence that the average European (generalization here) has thought much about those consequences.
Great story!!
Reality bites doesn’t it?
(and I dont know who Karma is, but she’s a real b@#ch )

Alice Cooper said it best: musicians are idiots and have no place in politics (just paraphrasing). The reason why celebrities are celebrities is because they can’t do anything else. Let them slag people if they wish. They still come off as idiots.
Make that 3 Brits hoping for a McCain/Palin victory!
The media here are also attempting to trash Mrs Palin.
Brand and Marrin – sorry America.
I think a Neil Kinnock quote is apposite for this pair “Two half-wits don’t make a wit!”
McCain/Palin because the Free World needs a strong America.
Thursday is the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. But being the loving and forgiving type I am I won’t hold a grudge for Barack Hussein Obama, nor for the Left Wing American trash who both support Barack Hussein Obama and justify the attacks-Chickens Come Home to Roost. Nor will I hold a grudge against the EuroTrash who support Barack Hussein Obama, wet their pants in fear of the mohammedan and mock MY country.
No sir, no ma’am good people, the ArizonaNeanderthal does not hold a grudge as he is loving and forgiving.
But how sweet the Irony that we had the Manhattan Project. Russell Brand, Osama bin Laudin, the American Left–As soon as I come back from walking the dog I have to pick up after her in the back yard. I like my dog being the loving and forgiving type I am.
Remember Our Dead.
Like what these clowns say or not; This is how we expose them to the unsuspecting amoung us.
Redstone always tries to take the heat off himself for this, by giving at least one interview before a presidential election declaring he will vote for the Republican, while his pacs/foundations continue to wildly funnel big bucks to the Democrat.
If promise rings help prevent or delay just one teenage girl from becoming pregnant before she physically and/or psychologically able to care for the baby, then the rings program has proven itself a success!
Btw, does anyone still watch MTV? I teach 7-8th graders, and they all watch the teen blocks on Disney and Nickelodeon.
I was in college back in the dinosaur days of the early 80s, when MTV played music videos. It could actually be worth having on as white noise in the background.
Today, MTV seems to have bottomed out as a channel directed to an audience — and a segment of the music industry — that “think” primarily with their genitalia. Except for stumbling across it while channel surfing, I haven’t watched it in 20 years.
Do they even play music videos anymore? Or is it all just crap like people competing for a “shot at love” with some gal who can’t tell if she wants a boyfriend or a girlfriend?
And trotting out the lefty Brit to tell the gonad-worshipers how to vote, the the glee of Britney Spears. How special, and how … unsurprising. I’d be more worried if I thought they’d actually make it to the polls in November.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the VMAs were being promoted by kids on Nickelodeon yesterday–with the highlight being the Jonas Brothers.
Of course being part of the MTV generation, I knew better than to let my kids watch the show, because I was certain there would be Fartman-esque moments (a la Howard Stern) and that the MTV target demo and objective seems to be “parents who don’t monitor what their kids watch so we can further degrade the family, Judeo-Christian values and anything else that is uplifting.”
As for Russell Brand, I know the Brit stereotype is bad teeth, but I had no idea that combing your hair with a spoon is all the rage in London these days. Why does MTV always seem to bring in the lowest common denominator?
…..And this is exactly why I was watching a show on ABC supporting our troops. There were singers and comedians out at Camp Pendleton on a stage outside. ZZ Top kicked some serious butt with “I thank you”!!!
Also, a Brit is is NO position to be talking smack about our leaders. If things stay the way they are in Britian, someone just might push a wall over on him. (If you get my drift)
A lot of people are writing that MTV ain’t what it used to be. I agree that there’s no focus on music anymore, but in terms of what’s appropriate and what isn’t, MTV probably hit rock bottom in the 1980s with all those hair metal videos. Nothing but artistic cleavage and bankruptcy.
Of course I see my days as a teen (the 90s) as the good old days. I am sure there was plenty of crap on then too.
And to the person who saw ZZ Top last night, you are very lucky. ZZ is amazing. But a ton of their songs are about sex (they actually named a song Tube Steak Boogie!). They’re no more appropriate than Brand mocking purity rings.
That Obama guy sure has some nice supporters and friends huh?
He brings the best out of people.
And these rants… ARE their BEST.
McCain’s best hope:
That these deranged loons and their leftwing lackeys in the Idiot Media don’t stop emitting their cascade of toxic effluent!!!
Hopefully, the emotional dissonance that results — when they finally realize that their inability to control themselves is actually backfiring on them — will cause them to STFU.
And he did so by ridiculing and embarrassing a 17 year old mother, insulting the father of her child and basically making all the same comments and accusations that you are now also whining about poor Britney had to go through?
Does the word hypocrisy not work for you?
And you don’t think it helps our side at all to point out his and anyone else’s hypocrisy in this matter?
Brittney has asked for her time in the public spotlight. She worked for it, pushed for it and has done very little if anything to discourage any of it.
The Palin children, on the other hand, as well as the eldest daughter’s fiancee`, have done no such thing. For you to equivocate the two shows a great lack of honesty on your and anyone else’s part, as well as a great deal of not understanding the difference and an incredible lack of compassion.
I won’t even go into the part where Britney is in her late 20’s and NOT still a teenager. Nor will I EVEr let pass someone who has done what she has done concerning the safety and welfare of their child the way she has done, including her drinking and drug use.
No one ever made the claim that she didn’t love her children…but I have a great many images burned in my memory permanently of children that I have had in the back of my ambulance who also had parents who loved them…it does not keep them from doing bad things to them.
That was me. I didn’t say they were pure, just very American. You are too young to remember pre-MTV ZZ Top, or anything pre-MTV really, so I’ll forgive you.
P.S. It’s Tube Snake Boogie.
Russell Brand is a creep – he is not much liked over here.
But the BBC in particular indulges – gives work to – so-called comedians who trash the US with Bush as prime target. The bias in BBC coverage of the conventions and the Palin appointment have been as bad as anything in the US MSM.
The BBC’s US Editor is a clown caqlled Justin Webb. He runs a blog at the BBC website = just scan some of his 5 or 6 brief blog posts over the past couple of weeks to get the flavour. Lifted straight out of Kos, Atlantic, Huffpo etc.
In passing – check out the hilarious posts there – it is full of effete liberals from the US, they are Justin’s groupies. Their scorn for the Repubs, the rednecks, is plain as pie.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/justinwebb/2008/09/disappointment.html
MTV used to be about music. Now its reality shows, rap and sex. Worthless. The only reason I know whats on there is because I have a 16 year old daughter. Its total crap.
Not that I watch much MTV, but if you’re looking for actual music videos, they appear basically non-stop on various MTV sister channels. My wife’s in the entertainment biz, so we have every cable channel known to mankind. I think there are 5 or 6 MTV channels now.
Give it a shot.
Racist if you don’t vote for Obama says the stupid Brit. Ah, but tell off-colored jokes about Sarah and her daughter and of course that’s not sexist!
How is being a sexist pig any better than being a racist? Add to that we are racists simply for not voting for Obama.
Please tell me the world isn’t this stupid!
I say we should put this guy on the road with Obama. Appear at AAAALLL of his campaign stops. Let him mock small-towners, hunters, farmers, Christians, and anybody else who’s not a Hollywood hipster right there on the podium. It’ll be great.
For us
.
Ya think he can actually write?
Rusty-
Go back and listen to Tres Hombres album and see if you don’t say, “H##l yeah” in a Texas accent. That is one bada$$ album of pure blues-rock and Texas boogie.
I’ve never understood the global community garbage. Many people will never have the opportunity to travel anywhere out of the country in their lifetime. They don’t care what people in some other country think of us or how they do things.
I wonder if he would be saying the same things about one of Obama girls if they ever had a teen pregnancy? Oh wait, Daddy dear would never let them be punished…
There. Fixed that for him.
No, no nono, no no no… Only white people are racist… sheesh, get with it! /sarc
The guy sounds like he knows what he’s talking about: use a condom or become a republican – that’s classic.
Chris Brown certainly was, and waving his fist in the air. But Britney was sort of giving the obligatory type of slow clap, with a confused expression on her face. I think she didn’t really like it very much. I saw a few other celebrities that looked like they weren’t entirely happy with Brand.
It did appear to me in fairness that the applause was a little less than enthusiastic.
Are you kidding me???? SHE DIDN’T EVEN WIN!!!!
What, she pulled strings, cheated, paid off the judges in order to be runner up?
OK…I give up…can we start playing their game now? Can we take off the gloves and go after them the way they are to us?
I watched MTV the first day it started, back when it was about crazy, funny VJ’s and Music. Those days are long gone now.
The VMA’S used to be a source of lowbrow, ribald entertainment that focused on the actual musicians and bands that the show was about.
In recent years the VMA’s have become a pre-election Leftard bonanza filled with Diddy inspired “Vote or Die” banality. Stepping up the game, MTV, which is owned by leftist shill Viacom, hired Russell Brand, a “comedian” from England whom my own British husband described as a “worthless wanker” and who’s only real claim to fame was dressing up like Osama Bin Laden the day after 9/11.
sums up TV for the most part…
No, I haven’t read any of the other comments since i truly hate the new multi-page format. Arrive on the last apge and then have to go back – i don’t think so. Sorry Michelle. I promise only one rant about it per day, and this is the Monday rant.
As in Fixed a male dog, young bull, boar pig, ram, lamb?

Russell Brand, soprano supremo.

I channeled past that freak show, err awards ceremony last night and I decided that their moniker MTV must mean Men in Tights Video. Boy, just think, if this guy had been reflective of the British back during the founding of the USA the revolutionary war would have lasted about ten minutes. About the time it took for the shot heard round the world to be heard. He called Bush a retard, I have to believe that Bush must feel real good about himself this morning. He’s over here telling us what to do as the islamists he and his countrymen (loose interpretation) allowed in are telling them what to do back home, moron.
Arrrrrrgh. I swear I knew that. Don’t know what I was thinking there.
But my point was simply that even back in the day on MTV, the videos weren’t exactly appropriate for tween eyes and ears.
And, to reiterate, I love ZZ Top. There’s a Queens on the Stone Age song from 2005 called “Burn the Witch” where Billy Gibbons plays lead guitar. He does a four note intro to his guitar solo that is just nasty.
Personally I love metal, yes the video’s and some of the song’s are about sex – some are not. I grew up listening to ZZ TOP – here we call them that little ol band from Texas.
I think MTV started to decay when they started more crap like real world and road trip. They should stick with music and music videos and leave the real world to the rest of us.
I’ve blocked MTV – not that I watched it much anyway. This way I won’t even accidentally stop on the filth. If only the jerks over at the network understood the reason I’m upset isn’t the political views (I expect as much) it’s the vulgarity and absolute disrespect shown to the Palin family.
Rusty-
Billy Gibbons is probably my #1 guitar hero, maybe Stevie Ray Vaughan. Beats out my other favorite blues guitar gods by virtue of the fact that he can be the ONLY guitarist on the album and pull it off with flying colors.
Me too. You a Texas gal?
Hey Russell,
Do the rest of English pop music a favor and STFU. Stop meddling in Yank politics. You’re making the rest of us look bad by association.
Signed,
Amy Winehouse
*out*
Actually…let’s just think about that comment/statement for just a second.
Would you really be all that upset if the kept more of them from being born?
I personally am loving the fact that all three of my daughters are growing up to not just be Republicans and Conservatives, but to actually walk on the other side of the street whenever they see a “Hippie”
Funny, funny story. They went to Santa Cruz to visit my step-son at college. While they were there, they got their first look at a “Hippie Drum Circle”. The disgust they felt was palpable, and when they returned home, they could not say enough about it. TO this day, they will go on and on about how stupid they looked, questioning why anyone would dress that way, wondering why none of them have showers etc. Oh if only I could record it and post it for you all.
I just smile and tell them that it is rude to point and laugh.
Russell Brand – meet the Dixie Chicks!
Russell who?
Waaaaaaiiiiit wait wait wait…let’s think for a moment.
Let’s examine just who it was that was on stage touting the wonders of having Obama be President, and the horrors of morality and virtue.
A heroin addicted, bi-polar sex maniac.
If that is the kind of person that thinks an Obama Presidency is the best thing for not just our country, but the entire world…does that really say a lot about Obama in the first place?
Why, I can see their new slogan now, soon to be on posters and commercials everywhere.
B.Hussein Obama for President…
The choice of junkies, sex fiends and the mentally ill the world over!
So the Jonas Brothers—kids who are out there doing music and setting a good example for the kids listening to their music by wearing Purity Rings and not getting stoned every other day–would be better off bedding every girl that shows up and picking up a gaggle of sexually transmitted diseases along the way???? There’s not a caring parent out there who would agree with that foolish ‘logic’!
Yet another reason I don’t watch MTV. MTV has changed since the ’80’s. They were hailed as bringing in another kind of media, the music video, to promote new music acts. At the time, in the ’80’s, MTV was responsible for a new style of music and was independent of the previous generations. Today? Not so much.
Is it so much to ask MTV to be neutral? To just be an entertainment/music source and leave the poltics out of it? They used to.
What’s even more disappointing is they they think that it’s okay to brainwash and liberally indoctrinate young voters (and those who can’t vote) and not be thought of as the propaganda arm of the Dem Party. Young people may be naive, even stupid in some respects, but never expect that they’re not aware that they’re being used.
The thing that MTV doesn’t understand is that young people eventually grow up, have careers, familes, their own children and see through the pop culture spin that MTV has become. Not all young people remain ardent Dem tools who think that the world is about them. If anything that kind of mindset will quickly get left behind when these same adoring Dems can’t compete in the marketplace after being urged how “special” and “unique” they are for watching MTV, copying overplayed fashion trends and mimicking the styles of promiscuous, lewd, and dim-witted louts like Brand.
Sorry, MTV, the USA isn’t Great Britain…. yet.
Stop letting your kids watch that crap. It takes MTV to recruit some foreign loser to trash America, we have our own losers (p-diddy, Kanye, Sean Penn) that could’ve done a better job.
You can determine the quality of a person’s character not just by their friends, but by their enemies.
You can read the NYT article on how Palin handled her pregnancy with Trig. I was surprised; it’s actually a nice article, though we can expect the unhinged derangement to continue. It’s here.
Apparently he also thinks rape is just hilarious.
I can’t get over the number of people who said they were tuned in for entertainment.
If that’s the case, why were they watching MTV to begin with?
There hasn’t been anything entertaining on there for 20 years.
Oh, and for the record, I stopped watching MTV right about the time when they started showing “Yo! MTV Raps” more than an hour on Saturdays. As soon as they started doing that, and as soon as they put on the game show “Remote Control”, they completely lost everything that the station stood for.
I never really understood why the format had to change long before videos were passe`.
Where I grew up, we didn’t have cable. My town didn’t get it until almost 1990 and had to rely on “Friday Night Videos”. However, I had moved on my own to Los Angeles a year after graduation and had cable just in time to witness it’s demise.
Another thing to keep in mind:
If we’re fortunate enough to keep OBummer out of the White House, we need to prepare for the nuclear bomb of leftwing vitriol and invective that will explode after a McCain/Palin win.
The lefty nutjobs will want to kill people (other than themselves); and, in some cases, might actually succeed.
Just sayin’…
Don’t think I haven’t thought about that, Gorebot. I in no way think Obama or Biden would encourage or condone violence – but they also told their supporters to lay off the Palin attacks, right?
That didn’t work.
If McCain wins, I’ll seriously consider removing my McCain/Palin stickers from my car if things get bad enough.
Back before cable there was American Bandstand and Soul Train, shows that played popular music as average people danced on the set. At some point these entertainers took it upon them selves to do the dancing, music became a bad Hollywood musical absent any plot. People found out that you can watch these videos but there is a risk. We all have songs we like from different eras and when we hear them they bring back memories.
Most music lovers have on more than one occasion put on some of their favorite music stretch out on the couch and become lost in the music. Once you see an entertainer ruin a particular song that you like accompanied by their gyrating arse or atrocious costumes in your face it kinda ruins it forever, you’re stuck with that vision from then on out. I remember when cable first came around we were one of the early experimental areas. There was something like 20 channels but nothing on most of them. It was a lot like the internet in 1997, a big empty space, you could almost hear the sound of nothing. Its much loder on cable today but there still is a whole lotta nothing out there as well.
Ummmm, doesn’t this kind of garbage/gasbaggery come under the so-called “Fairness Doctrine”? If talk radio/blogs/etc., are required to “give both sides” of an argument, how much more so should presumptive “entertainment” offer even-handed treatment?

The Obama (re Berg v. Obama) may not be a “natural born” US citizen either.
‘Ill Sen Barack Hussein Obama was served with papers 9/4/08 connected with the lawsuit filed more than two weeks ago in fed court in Phila questioning his constitutional eligibility for the American presidency. Service was made at his Washington, D.C. Senate office at approximately 1:00 p.m.’
From a press release provided by filing attorney Philip Berg and available on his Web site http://www.obamacrimes.com:
Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obama’s eligibility to serve as President of the United States, has received confirmation from his Process Service Company that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Senator Barack Obama were served today, September 4, 2008, with the legal documents pertaining to Berg vs. Obama, Civil Action No. 08-cv-4083.
The DNC was served at 12:00 p.m. and Senator Obama was served at 1:00 p.m. The U.S. Attorney’s Office accepted service on behalf of the Federal Elections Committee (FEC) on or about August 22, 2008.
Updates
The beau-u-utiful upside to this is it’s bound to chop Obama’s much touted “youth vote” off at the knees. Otherwise apathetic young people who would have reflexively voted for Obama are going to change their minds after being lectured by a pompous Brit member of “the world community.”
One other thing. Many here won’t agree but Russell Brand can actually be very, very funny. It’s a shame he wasted his airtime with such tedious political bitching, complaining and lecturing.
Dont worry AlohaGuy!!! ::sigh:: Everyone will disappear in about 90 days and we will go back to our usual 45 posts per blog topic. (I hope not though, I enjoy hearing from everyone)
Rocked out at the Dokken and Poison concert on Saturday night! 5 feet away from the bands!
Teenage daughter loved it and one of the roadies gave her some souvenirs from CC and Brett!!!! They just gained another generation of fans.
Appreciated both bands giving kudos to our Armed Forces members who couldnt be there!
And can this old man be so fortunate as to go into battle one last time for his country? Oh My Lord, if I could close but one more battle my life would be more than complete. For these Leftist fools are more threat to me and mine than any Mr. Charles ever was. It would be a gift supreme. Since returning from Viet Nam and running into these Leftist Fools at the Airport, in Graduate school and elsewhere I have prayed for such a day.
And can this old man be so fortunate?
If it is proven that Obama is ineligible to run, does that give Joe Biden the top slot on the ticket?
Funny isn’t it? No one is ever worried about what Conservatives will do should The Golden Calf win. Yet we all know damn well that when McCain and Palin win in November, the Liberals and Democrats, the same one who have been whining and complaining incessantly for the last 8 years, will have their biggest tantrum yet.
I, personally, forsee a good deal of rioting a looting. It will be fed, of course, by the Liberals and Democratic leaders, as they go on and on about “Voter Fraud”, “Voter Intimidation”, how there were oh so many disenfranchised voters who were not allowed to vote because we are racists and whatever new crap they will come up with by that point.
I think it will be very dangerous for Conservatives and Republicans once O-Dumbo loses. Is that just paranoia? Or lessons learned?
Arizona Neanderthal
May I echo your sentiments? I, too, would enjoy having this “old” Marine get the chance for one more glorious fight. They ( the left wing zealots) would not know what hit them….. and welcome home, sir! I Corps… Lang Sam 719 , LZ Baldy, FSB Ross. Charlie 1/1 Hotel 3/7.
It will be dangerous for the Right. There will be rioting and looting a la Rodney King.
And, as EQ said, I will probably have to remove the McCain-Palin sticker on my car if McCain wins. I’m also staying away from major cities for at least a week after the election.
Unbelievable. This is what our country has become. We have become hostages to the undemocratic and tyrannical left.
I think he was great. He and the likes of other inane a-holes – Olberman, Matthews, Michael Moore et al – are great gifts to the Republican Party. They do as much as anyone to define the liberals in this country, and ultimately help us to win elections.
Katablog, well Brand did actually write an autobiography, apparently full of stories of debauchery, etc, named “My Booky Wook” lol.
Come on Streisand, Penn, Clooney, Sarandon/Robbins and Redford, and the rest of you gated mansion multimillionaires! Where are you? You’re slacking.
Don’t desert us when we (may or may not) need you.
If the BBC weren’t subsidized by us the taxpayers via the License Fee over here,
I’m pretty sure that some of the liberal bias would go the way of Air America.
sillygatboy,
Penn’s probably still in his one-man boat
looking for someone to rescue from Gustav, Ike, etc.
Well think about this, over the last few days I have noticed a large number of 9-11 programs. One, Attack on the Pentagon on Discovery was a pretty good show. Well I started to think about 9-11 and it occurred to me that for years perhaps decades before 9-11 the media had been asking, stating that America had not had a terrorist attack on our soil. Over and over the statement was made the question was asked almost as if they were daring someone to try it. Was that a direct but not exclusive cause leading to 9-11? I don’t know but it certainly could have put the thought in someones mind.
Now the increase in this type of rhetoric can be directly tracked to the increase in cable networks/channels. It is important to remember that the reason many people watched Gulf war 1 on CNN was because that was it for cable news at that time. Perhaps that explains why they are so touchy and prefer to limit their recognition of that day. And they had the nerve to challenge President Bush when he told the islamists to bring it on. They’re capable of anything because they are fools and fools get people killed. They want the fairness doctrine, hrumpffh.
In the early days cable was great, the best part, every box came with a remote, no more getting up to change the channel.
Good compare and contrast of Libs vs Conservatives

‘A Few Good Men’
Jessep: We follow orders, son. We follow orders or people die. It’s that simple. Are we clear?
Kaffee: Yes sir.
Jessep: Are we clear?
Kaffee: Crystal.
Kaffee: Colonel, I have just one more question before I call Airman O’Malley and Airman Perez – If you gave an order that Santiago wasn’t to be touched, and your orders are always followed, then why would he be in danger? Why would it be necessary to transfer him off the base?
I was watching the MTV thing from the start, because my teenage daughters were dominating the remote control. When I saw this idiot launch into his Obama tirade, I flew into a rage, which didn’t abate as his monologue continued. By daughters were stunned at my reaction, and two of them suggested he has the right to his opinion. Correct, but don’t blind-side people with crap that is inappropriate for the venue. The liberal left is even whackier that I realized. I am blocking MTV on my televisions.
Mr. Brand: Thank you for visiting us and sharing your articulate, well-reasoned comments. Now toddle on back to your world community, your fish & chips, and your dental problems. We’ll be there to rescue you and other Brits when you find yourselves drowning in shar’ia law. You’re welcome, America
I agree. Soooooo they were watching the European Music Video Awards right?
And you took the remote away, busted their butts and sent them to bed without dinner, correct?
Now we are two. There will be more .

We can put a man on the moon, but cable TV companies don’t offer cafeteria plans where customers pay only for the TV channels they want.
