Church Golf Scramble! Woo-hoo!
Going to go see a “little ole band from Texas”. ZZ Top!
Good Luck CantCure!
Too nice of a day to get all partisan and riled.
I know it’s considered one of the centers of the evil MSM, but it’s also my home town newspapaper, and the Washington Post has some excellent non-partisan reads today.
Countercyclical conservative George Will takes on the “are you better off?” question.
f you are near “the sear, the yellow leaf” of life, in the past four years your expected remaining years of life have declined. But that does not mean you cannot be better off.
Pulizer Prize-winning fashion critic Robin Givhan looks at potential First Lady styles.
And, most important, lead popular music critic J. Freedom du Lac looks at frayed relationship between fast cars abd rock and roll.
To Dean Torrance, cars represented freedom and creative expression. But, he says now, he and Jan Berry weren’t thinking about cars quite so deeply in the 1960s, when their group, Jan & Dean, had success with several automotive-themed songs, including “Little Old Lady From Pasadena,” a Berry song (co-written by Don Altfeld and Roger Christian) about a Super-Stock Dodge that tore up the quiet streets of Pasadena, Calif.
Cheers, my fellow Americans.
Heading out to buy some treats for care packages & thought I would share this will you all:
Last Sunday (Labor Day Wknd) we were on the National Mall (our 4th year) collecting signatures for Thank You banners to send to our forward deployed troops with their care packages.
This project started when people in my community would come up to me and ask me to “Thank your husband for me”, so I bought a roll of white kraft paper, and the local mall gave us a booth where people could stop by and write what ever they felt in their hearts.
In the past, we have had general officers and Navajo wind talkers stop and sign.
Just thought I would share some of this year’s comments:
Thank you SO much. You are all heros, and we’re here enjoying a beautiful day on Washington Mall because you keep us free with all your hard work. You are ALL amazing! Thanks! Kyle G, NYC.
(He made a point of telling me he was a staunch democrat but supported the war and was thankful for our troops — he was a genuine guy and a breath of fresh air!)
God Bless You. You are protecting the world.
Emile, Abuje, Nigeria
May God Bless you and keep you every moment of every day and help you realize the goodness in everything you are doing. Thank you.
H, London, England
Thank you for your courage and what you are doing. We respect you and are grateful for your service.

Has anyone tried placing spearmint chewing gum along the southern boarder? Or dry ice……or killing the grubs? Hey it’s worth a try.

Dude… you owned up to it? Personally I thought your account had been temporarily hacked or something and someone else had written the post in your name.
30pces:
Are you going to conceal carry? (I don’t know the guns laws in NJ) If you intend to carry the gun, as in your purse, I’d recommend a lightweight piece with a hidden hammer. My sister just bought the S&W Airweight, which is really great for that purpose, but it’s not fun to shoot with, as it has a really harsh kick. After about 10 rounds, my hand was hurting really badly. However, as S&W put it, “It’s meant to be carried, not shot”.
I keep a Ruger SP100 .357/.38 in my nightstand, and it’s also a joy to shoot. I can go over 300 rounds with that thing and no kick, no pain! It’s rather heavy, though.
Someday I’ll get the new Ruger LCP, which is a semi that weighs only 9 oz., and has a hidden hammer, so no snagging. Apparently it’s made for the conceal carry crowd.
Before I bought my gun, I took a “Basic Pistol Shooting” class from a certified NRA instructor in my area. It was a 2 day class where we learned about basic gun protocol, how to clean, shoot, etc… It was a great class, and on the second day we went out on the range and practiced shooting. I didn’t have a gun but our instructor brought me a gun to use. Everyone there who had one also let me try their guns, which gave me a lot of input as to what I wanted to buy.
Let me know what you get!
Going to church is easier.
Quick aside to Michelle:
I just found out my great uncle, Fr. Theodore Daigler SJ was the very first rector of Ateneo de Davao University. Is that cool or what?
heh! I knew someone in my family got himself edumacated!
Wow! This rendition gave me goosebumps! (I mean that in a good way, kind of like Chris Matthews with his leg zingers.) It would be great if Heart would allow Gretchen to perform this on the campaign trail, but I won’t hold my breath.
BTW,
We had a strange incident in our Church last week. During daily Mass, (I was not present, but a friend who goes regularly told me) a young man walked into the church and stood for a while in the back. After a few minutes, right in the middle of prayer, he shouted out, “Come out and fight me”. Everyone just stopped and looked at him. Father paused, and said, “What did you say?”, and the guy repeated, “Yeah, you. Come out and fight me”. Father ignored him and continued the mass.
Then the guy left. Needless to say, everyone was quite nervous about the incident.
Already many in our parish have decided to start carrying heat at mass. After reading about nutjobs who go into churches and shoot people, we’ve decided to have a contingency plan.
Scary world.
Hah! Did you hear the latest that the Democrats are now claiming the Republicans stole those flags that were trashed at Invesco?
I knew that was coming…
Also, since we’re wide open today, had anyone else heard reports from the DemCon about Jimmy Carter treating his wife so terribly in the public venues?
A reporter from St Louis said that Jimmy was verbally abusive to Rosalyn, made her walk behind him, and was seen beating her while waiting for an elevator. Like a rented mule…..
atheling,
I haven’t gotten that far yet (concealed carry or not). In all honesty if I can… I probably will but again, I’m in NJ and I highly doubt that will be an option.
Ooooh gun talk. I can’t wait until I am well versed in the lingo.
I’ll keep you up-to-date on the progress. Wish me luck.
It’s just something he picked up while he was visiting his Hamas buddies…
Good luck! Lol, and yes, I love gun talk!
We have a 16 month old female mostly lab that hunts moles (used to have a female chow mix that did the same thing)–listens for them and digs in the precise spot where the mole is–this dog LucyLoo is uncanny in her precision–but I feel a lot like Monk (it’s just too much nature since once she catches them she wants to play with them)The Chow Mix (Baby) used to bury them in her bed in the garage.

joannmandolin, would love a link to that on Jimmy Carter behavior. Sounds a bit out of character. Can’t imagine that guy using violence at all, or even being particularly successful if he used it, even on his own wife.
He was attacked by a rabbit, after all.
True, but now I can cling to my particle accelerator also.
Perhaps a simple misspoken word, but I would expect someone who is truly strong in their Christian faith not to make this type of gaffe.
A true test…Ramadan requires fasting during daylight hours. Get some video of BHO chowing down on a ham steak or munching some cracklins while the sun is out this time of year.
Watching NASCAR!
Hey kids, the loonies are still at it today. I can’t help but wander through some of the blog sites and drop a bomb or two. Where do all of these mental under-achievers come from? Are we not supposed to feed lefties after midnite or get them wet? Heres a little taste of something I left ‘em over on Newsvine:
I haven’t has this much fun since I was a little kid. You know, stirring up bee’s nests and such.
They are really losing their collective minds over Palin.
I love every second of it.

How about something along the lines of:
“Of Course I’m clinging to my gun and my bible – with Obama around I have to.”
Or my favorite:
Joe Biden: The Bill Clinton of Intellectual Silverware.
Atheling, what would you recommend if you have arthritis and repetitive stress syndrome in both hands?
I’ve got rifles and shotguns, which aren’t a problem with what I’ve got, most of the kick absorbed everywhere. But would also like a good handgun when I travel. Not much kick, light, preferably not revolver.
Michelle, please cover this story from Denver on Monday - its more of the carnage open borders and soft-on-illegals government is doing to us:
3 year old in an ice cream shotp was killed by an illegal who was driving too fas and erratically. Two women, 49 and 51, were killed instnatly when he plowed into their pickup truck after running a red light kncocking it over 100 feet away and smashing it violently into the Baskin Robbins where debris killed the 3 year old
Personal Note: shards of glass cut his throat, he did not die instantly – an RN my wife knows, her son who works nearby rushed over and tried to stop the bleeding and held him while he died.)
But not just any illegal, he was 23 years old, Hernandez had been arrested in Denver as recently as July 18 on a traffic stop and charged with numerous crimes, including resisting police, CBI records say.
Dating back to 2003, Hernandez has been arrested 16 times by police officers in Denver, Longmont, Aurora, Westminster, Lakewood and Broomfield and sheriff’s deputies in Boulder, Gilpin and Arapahoe counties, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records. His charges have included forgery, assault, theft, fraud and driving under restraint
Hernandez has been arrested 16 times in five years in Colorado but apparently has never been deported, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.
ENOUGH! Illegals out NOW!
Want the irony? The smallest victim was a son of LEGAL immigrants, who followed the rules.
More details can be found in the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post.
Well, my grandson and I went shooting with my brother yesterday, so we are cleaning guns. The yard needs to be mowed thanks to the remnants of Gustav. Then I have to change out tubes on what used to be my bicycle so my grandson has a bike that fits him again. (I’ll do the first one to show him how, then he can do the second one.) Two NASCAR races are set for the DVR if I can’t get time to watch them.
Just another day in paradise.

And yes, he was NOT checked against ICE in Denver because of their “dont ask dont tell” policy with illegals due to the Democrats who run that city.

“I misspoke” is how B. Hussein Obama will characterize it, but Freudian Slip anyone?
Move to Arizona? We don’t need a NJFID (firearm identification), licence, registration (other than that xxxx National Instant Criminal Background Check), can carry open. We do need a Shall Issue Concealed Weapons Permit to Carry Concealed-see how that works?
But for a choice of a first weapon I always recommend a .38 cal revolver-3 or 4 inch barrel- standard weight. A revolver is the easiest to learn and the most reliable. Keep away from the lightweight revolvers until you get use to the concept of control.
If you can buy used. Any good gunsmith or dealer can find one for you.
I like to stick with a good name maker
Smith and Wesson: but expensive
Taurus:
Ruger: still expensive but our local favorite
Charter Arms:
Rossie: made by Taurus

Today I’m nursing a headache.
I will say that the first time I’ve ever thought about a stranger whilst cooking, though, was yesterday: I baked a homemade lemon meringue pie & thought of aj…
I heard that.. lol.
yum.

But the New York Bretts are on right now! First play of second series, Touchdown Favre!
AZ:
Ruger? Expensive? I think Ruger is very affordable. S&W is expensive.
I don’t buy Taurus because it’s not made in the USA.
However, I do second that I think one’s first gun should be a revolver. Being mechanically challenged, I understand how it works, and how to clean it. I’m a bit scared of semis, but eventually I’ll come around to buying one, especially the Ruger LCP.
FilmLadd:
I’m relatively new to guns myself – been a gun owner for about 3 years now. I hear that the Ruger LCP is a good semi that’s lighweight, and from the videos I’ve observed, it doesn’t look like it has much kick and I haven’t heard that complaint from those who have tested it.
Ha! I gave a big bag to Bear when he was down here, was hoping he’d use em for moonbat grenades when he got back to Beserkely….
thanks for the link FilmLadd I’ll check it out later Going to visit my father in the hospital had surgery the other day then suffered a heart attack please say a pray for him if you wouldn’t mind thanks

How did this become a political discussion? MM asked what we were up to today…I went to church, fixed lunch for the fam and now about to write my lesson plans for home schooling the kidlets this week. Later, we will watch Funnies Home Videos and Extreme Makeover so I can have my heartwarming cry for the week. Then to bed early because I start training for a 5k tomorrow. Yawn.
Bloudhound, sheesh, whatcha expect they’re playin the Dolphins.

Oh, and we also had to rescue a newt from the pool this morning. And feed some stray kittens. No wonder my head hurts.
Sorry aj, that pie was demolished yesterday. My personal ‘first dude’ loves him some pie (fortunately it’s one of my specialties).
AN,
Thanks! I can buy the .38 used. My brother in-law will sell us his. But that’s a ways off. Thanks for the rest of the info.
Thanks!
The liberal talking heads are all up in arms about people inquiring about Obama’s time at Columbia U. Why is he so worried about his past?
Bob Beckel laments that anytime a Democrat candidate discloses personal information regarding their past, the Republicans turn that information into negative attacks…yeah, okay Bob! (Project much D_Bag?)
Beckel sure doesn’t forget to add the little “digs” as he feigns outrage, and tells us how “he doesn’t care” if she did this or that, because blah, blah, blah…! ZZZZZZZZZ…….
where did folks read/hear of this “my muslim faith” horsecrap from The Moslem Running for President.
i stand by my prediction that this rat bastard comes out of the closet as a Moslem if he gets elected.

FilmLadd, here is what I’ve found so far- from the ABC newsblog 08/28/08.
Sounds like some gossip from the DNC-
The reporter mentioned, Jamie Allman spoke about Carter’s abusive treatment of Rosalyn at length on his radio show on 97.1 fm, St Louis.
Fox News is reporting that Bill Clinton is telling people off-record in Denver that Obama is a “Chicago thug.” Hannity betting Clintons will do all they can behind the scenes to make sure Obama loses, already planning Hillary’s run in 2012. Biden and Obama can’t stand each other, Obama was forced to take Biden to shore up natl affairs experience. Jamie Allman, 97.1 in St. Louis, reporting that tension on floor reached fever pitch yesterday. Some Hillary supporters threatening to walk off floor, Obama supporters pleading with them to stay. Jimmy Carter’s nerves frazzled, screamed at Rosalyn in the elevator. Some Hillary supporters laughing at the temple, referring to Obama as a Greek God. Obama supporters grumbling about “racist” Hillary supporters. Yep, this is a real united Party.

PS. my team looks like poo so far.
Oh, and let me be clear: I have no respect for either Bidet or Flinchy as males (neither qualify as *men*).
McCain suffered uncountable horrors in the Hilton over in Hanoi.
And as far as i am concerned, Governor Palin’s executive experience is gravy because she has done something none of these dudes have done: brought new life into the world.
I respect the GOP ticket because they are real people. Bidet is dumb as a box of rocks. And Flinchy is just a lying insufferable narcissist.
Flush them in November.

Hell, Cindy McCain has more executive experience than Obama:
She founded and led 55 missions for American Medical Voluntary Team for seven years in foreign countries. Her involvement with Aneheuser Busch alone gives her more executive capabilities than the Golden Calf.
Wait, tell us how you really feel. lmao.
“Obama shocked that a party convention is “highly partisan.”
Is he such an egomaniac that he expects the other party to devote its convention to praising him?
Yup. Egomaniac and narcissist.
If the thought of shooting someone bothers you and you think you may hesitate their are other alternatives. In Idaho we can buy highly concentrate pepper spray formulate for grizzle bears. It comes in a can the size of a milk carton. Good for 20 people or one bear
Yeah, we do that by repeating it.

All you married guys who have wives that know how to cook don’t realize how lucky you are
. How about a little love for those poor bachelors among you (raises hand and turns on puppy dog eyes)
@ajmontana: Unfortunately I don’t have the power to just send a free shirt from CP or I would have you one straightwaway. But I’ll make you a deal, if you can promote the shop amongst your group of friends, send it to everyone in your address book et. if I can sell approx 25 of them I will have something they call CP gift certificates credits and I will send you one free using that, deal?
@PKAmmoTroop: I will get on designing those tonight but since I am a little slow on the uptake you will have to explain the second one to me. You have a preference for a type of T-shirt? Hoodie with the fall coming? Coffee mug? Beer Stein?
I fancy myself a fairly competent graphic artist so I will entertain any requests from folks here, especially if you have an event club etc. you want some custom stuff for.

Greetings all!! Just trying to remind myself why I don’t stay out until 3:00 AM any more. Our dear friends Jim & Trisha threw their annual September B-Day Luau & Jam Session yesterday. Their daughter was born about 8:20 AM (CDT) on Sept. 11, 2001. That is one child’s birthday we will never forget.
Party started about 2:00 Saturday afternoon and we played to entertain the kids. We even did The Bare Necessities. To see 52 year old Jim doing the Baloo dance was a laugh riot. Once the kids were in bed…us old folks got out the rest of the guitars, electric piano and fiddle…and did our best to remember the good old days. Beatles, CS&N, Willie Nelson, Cole Porter, Allman Brothers, Arlo and a bunch of originals that some of us had written. I’m too old to do thjis any more…especially with a 50 mile drive from their place to ours.
Hope you guys are all happy, healthy and relaxing.
Michelle…keep the kids going in music. So much fun…and really is a practical application of physics. I’ve always called my music “Physics with a Soul”. Amazing what the study of acoustics and wave propagation can do for you.
Go Cowboys!!
Guns?
Ruger makes a 327 Federal 6 shot revolver,(I think that’s right)that has nearly the punch of a 357 with one more round and less punishment for the shooter. Haven’t tried one but the reviews are good.
FamilyMan,
Thanks! I currently carry pepper spray. 1) I thought the bureaucracy in NJ was too daunting a task to take on in order to purchase a gun, 2) we have bears roaming these here parts. But I’ve since changed my mind and have come to the conclusion that pepper spray simply won’t cut it when it comes to protecting my home and myself. As for fear of shooting someone else… well, I hate to sound callous and most certainly wouldn’t take a life or injure someone without careful consideration. But in a split second situation when my only options are them or me. I’ll choose me over them everytime and twice on Sundays.
You’re a bears breakfast.
My first recommendation would be to move out of New Jersey. That said, it depends on why you want a handgun. From your mention of a .38 or .380, it sounds like personal/home defense is your need.
If you aren’t an experienced shooter, I’d recommend a 4 inch barreled medium-frame revolver in .357 Magnum or .38 Special. You can shoot .38 Specials in a .357 Magnum, and, if you can handle the recoil, you can move up to .357 Magnums in the future. Adjustable sights are good if you might want to target shoot but aren’t usually needed on a defensive piece.
For concealed carry a 2 to 3 inch barreled .38 or .357 in either 5 or 6 shot models should fit the need. Lightweight guns like S&W’s Airweight or Taurus’ Ultra-Lite revolvers recoil significantly more than steel guns but are easier to carry.
If you have more questions, you can check out my posts on concealed carry at The Turkey Foot Brand If you have more questions, leave a comment.

If you have a few minutes today, go watch the Naguria’s Memorial Day Adventure.
There are five parts, but I think you will be glad you watched it.

Lol, that’s why I prefer a gun to pepper spray.
For anyone who has children or grandchildren that like the Avengers movie, my

It was supposed to be released on September 2nd.

Before anyone purchases a firearm for self or family protection they must overcome the hurdle of taking a life in their mind, or what will most likely happen if a situation arises requiring deadly force is they’ll be killed with their own firearm. Never draw a weapon unless you are prepared to use it. Never point a weapon at something or someone you aren’t prepared to shoot.
Thanks Atheling, I’ll see if I can’t try one out first at a range somewhere before buying!
Me too. :

Ruger SP101 Double Action Revolver $570 List
Taurus Model 85 $472 list

Very few stores charge full list here.
The days of the .45acp 1911 are over for these tired old bones-
But back up for hunting or hiking I carry Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan, Oh yes.
It is now my Palin Piece!
Is that what Sarah carries? I was wondering what her favorite pieces are.
I haven’t heard anything about Dumpster Muffin in weeks. I miss her.

ECS is dead on.
However another option would be something along the lines of a Charter Arms Bulldog Pug in .44 special. I carried one of those for a long time as an off duty weapon and always felt well protected.
In a home defense environment you want to avoid over penetration so a .44 spc. coming out of a 3″ barrel gives you a nice large frontal impact are that is going to put all of it’s kinetic energy in to the target– in laymen terms it’s a big, slow moving, hard hitting piece of lead.
And remember that the shorter the barrel the less accuracy you will ave due to bullet drop and less rifling to impart spin on the bullet. I had a Sgt. many years ago who arrived home to an ambush, pulled out his trusty 2″ S&W Chief’s special and proceeded to miss all 5 rounds from less than 6 feet. He got rid of it the next day.
I myself an a dyed in the wool .45 ACP fan and have found no better handgun that a well tuned 1911A1 model. But that is a single action handgun that has to be carried cocked and locked so it is not for the lightly trained. You want something that if it doesn’t go “BANG” when you pull the trigger all you have to do is pull the trigger again.
We used to call that “6 for sure”. I carried a S&W Model 66 4″ for years in LA and I never felt out gunned. The lethality lies in the gun handler, not the gun.
Hmmmm… my Ruger is a 2.25 snub and I can shoot all five rounds into a 3×5 index card from 12 feet.
Writing my Sunday Post.
I always like to include a little scripture on Sunday posts.
Going to Church.
Going to a Mariners game to watch the Yankees win!
Sarah Palin is a Woman for such times as these.
Jeez, I love this board! Gun talk and NRA talk gets me excited. I’ve been shooting and hunting since I was a very young dude. Have owned guns the entire time.
For newbies I have a suggestion for getting started. I shoot a Ruger 22/45 for practice. You can shoot a cazillion rounds and not burn up a lot of money. The pistol is a semi patterned after the .45 1911. It has good heft, weight and making the transition to the heavier pistol is simple. My second favorite gun is a 9MM semi–also patterned after the .45 1911. It is an older model Llama with good weight. My next dream is a Kimber .45. The first two are not good carry weapons. Too big and heavy. But fun to shoot. Especially the Ruger.
Good luck. You will enjoy the sport.
And on the weapons front. I carry a 1911 in .45 ACP (of course) when I can get away with it. I’m a big guy so that’s most of the time. I am currently shopping for a small weapon for summer time carry. My brother the retired cop has just about got me convinced to go with a Glock 30. I don’t want to step down to the .40 S&W even though it is “nearly ballistically identical to a .45 ACP”. If you shoot someone with a .45, they STAY shot. DO NOT buy a 9mm. Electric Icepick. For most novices, stick with a revolver. .38 Special at a bare minimum. I like the Model 10 Smith & Wesson…used to have one. .357 Magnum…but all .357 Mags will shoot .38 special that won’t beat you up so badly with recoil.
Forget Modified Weaver and all the fancy combat techniques that I use. Go with a “triangle grip profile”, both hands on the weapon. Think “Center Mass”. Practice. Fire at least 200 rounds a week on the range. Remember that most gun fights take place in about the same space as an elevator.
No 2″ barrels…very small effective range…if he’s too far away to smack with the weapon, he’s too far away to shoot for 95% of folks.
Rules that my brother taught me.
Rule 1.
Anyone worth shooting is worth shooting SEVERAL times.
Rule 2. There is nothing a cop hates more than conflicting stories.
Remember, the Second Amendment does not GIVE us the right to keep and bear arms…it merely CONFIRMS IT.
Ouch for the Pats… brady knee injury.
dunno how bad yet.
I will be watching football as I set up my new computer. Finally broke down and purchased a DSL connection. Looking forward to finally seeing ‘Hot Air’. Will take care of my Mom as usual. Will also go to the market to do food shopping (after football).
It is the other .25. And that 3×5 index isn’t coming after you. But PRACTICE, situational awareness and mindset is the difference. And that .25.
For the house we have a Mini 30 and Remington 870. We go to the range almost every month and fire at least some rounds through each.
Now I have to vacuum the floor because of that damn post #40.

Apparently he IS so egotistical that he thinks that even
at the opposite party’s convention, everything will still
be all about him.
Speaking of Jimm-ay mistreating the wife…I read that
Michele O isn’t all that verbally kind to Barack when she is talking about him. I can’t remember everything
she said, but two things I do remember. First, and
guys, stop me if this sounds familiar..He Never Puts
The Seat Down! Second, their youngest daughter can
make a bed better than Daddy.
Wow!! And she thinks we want this incompetent
housekeeper in the White House?
I have to disagree about the Weaver stance, I find it much more natural and certainly easier when you have to move while keeping your weapon up and ready. It also presents you as a much smaller target and gives a more solid base to fire from.
Try moving tactically while remaining in an isosceles stance, it’s next to impossible and very clumsy.
FYI- The .40 S&W round was a direct result of the Miami FBI shootout in 1986. I attended an in service training session where that shooting was picked apart piece by piece, when you actually see the crime scene photos it gives you a perspective on what happened that no A&E movie ever could.
The .40 SW was supposed to give the knock down power of a .45 acp with the capacity of a 9mm- The advent of weapons like the Glock 20 made it a moot point.

For plinking you cannot beat a Ruger Standard model .22 with a bull barrel and for a smoke pole I suggest a Ruger 1022. Big fun on a budget.
To me however, this is REAL FUN. You can fill the air with lead all day and have change left over to buy a burger on your way home.
However if you want to reach out and touch something in a serious way I prefer the Interarms Mk X .243
People harass me because .243 is a light round, and it is. But that’s only a problem if you shoot like a liberal (Eyes squinted, knees shaking, prey losing interest while waiting for you to find the trigger…)
Funny. I agree!
Thanks for the other tips.
Two inch barreled revolvers are not less intrinsically accurate than any other handgun. The difficulty in hitting with them isn’t “not enough rifling;” it’s the short sight radius. At longer ranges, the velocity loss caused by the short barrel makes hitting problematic for those who don’t shoot regularly at extended ranges. For example, yesterday I took two steel pigs down at the handgun silhouette range (100 meters) with my 2 inch Taurus 85SSUL in .38 Special. Granted, it took ten shots to hit twice, but I was close with the rest.
Of course, I’ve been shooting for 46 years and used to shoot competitively when in the Army.

I really like my Ruger P89, though it was more expensive than I was planning on. There are two things that I don’t like about it though. There is no safety on it, and even when the magazine is out, it can still fire. I do like the de-cocker that it comes with. It definitely eliminates the chance of an accidental firing when dropping the hammer.
My next 4 purchases will be, in no particular order, a Spencer rifle (Cowboy style like a true Repub.) Winchester 30/30, A S&W .40 semi, and a .357 wheel.
Problem is, out here in Cali, the prices are so high that it takes forever to save up for them. By the time I get close, some kind of emergency occurs and the gun money gets used for something else.
There is a gun auction that you can use on-line, except that the laws here in California forbid getting any of the good ones. Add to that the outrageous costs that gun stores charge to be the go-between and it is just ceaper to go to the gun shop.
It really is getting to the point where the only good thing about this state is the weather, and that is getting to be not enough. I can’t wait till I am able to move away.
I bet Alaska doesn’t have these issues.
Speaking of box of rocks, you gotta watch this video of these environutjobs screaming and crying over trees, and proclaiming the “incredible life” of rocks…
YIKES!!!
Seems unfair to the box, too.

sometimes I day dream and thinking how great, successful and peaceful this country would be if only 1/3 of the mass media was conservative…then i wake up to this marxrist, socialist bs.
As far as a choice in guns for protection, it’s like most everything else…personal preference. Not a gun shooter for 40 yrs, last yr I picked up a 357 2in. barrel for concealed carry and home protection. Live in a 1 bedroom apartment should do fine but I am seriously wondering about missing my target and shooting an innocent down the street, and that’s using hollow points. If and when I move to a larger place, say 2 or 3 bedrooms, I’ll be getting me a 12 gauge shotgun with a legal short barrel(18.5 in). IMHO no better home protection..won’t shoot a neighbor by missing your target and going through sheet, easier to aim and hit the your target. Oh, pump action also…ever hear that chck-chck…make a drugger think twice…they know what it is.
