Mrs. Smarter-than-thou gets passive-aggressive with Sarah

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 8, 2008 06:32 PM

Mrs. Smarter-than-thou goes there. Mmm-hmm. Oh, yes, she did. Mark Finkelstein at Newsbusters writes:

Check out this [emphasis added] excerpt from an LA Weekly report on Michelle Obama’s appearance at a private fundraiser last Wednesday in the ritzy LA neighborhood of Holmby Hills. Mrs. Obama was addressing a crowd that reporter Patrick Range McDonald described “heavily entertainment-industry.”

Obama then moved on to politics, where she first brought up her husband’s vice-presidential choice. “I think it was a really good pick—Senator Joe Biden,” she said, and later added, “People say they have amazing chemistry, and it’s true.”

Obama continued with talk about Biden when she said, “What you learn about Barack from his choice is that he’s not afraid of smart people.” The crowd softly chuckled.

I’m laughing for an entirely different reason. Keep showing us your elitist roots, Mrs. O.

It’s working wonders.

Really? Apparently, Obummer and his supporters continue to understimate the BS meter of the American people. Many us of keep on hearing the mantra of “change” but that theme hasn’t been fully explained and when it is, it’s done in sound bites meant to show that they’re untainted by corruption or the usual politics.

The only problem is that Obummer and his bitter half are certainly scared of Hillary. She came with 18 million votes and what a way to show you care about “smart people” by going for the Washington insider who is holding on to the last tendrils of his hair and hasn’t done anything but prove how much a typical politician he is.

Part of this is not so much a vote “for” McCain as it is a vote AGAINST Obama and the elitism/sexism that controls the Democratic party establishment… my gut reaction.

I dunno, reading a swipe at Sarah Palin into Mrs. Hopenchange’s comment may be a stretch. It reads to me like she’s saying that Hopenchange isn’t afraid of “Slow Joe” Biden because he’s “smart.” Anything past that seems conjectural, absent more context (which is why the link becomes important).

In any event, though, why in the first place should someone with a Harvard J.D. be “afraid” of “smart people?” The premise makes no sense … unless the degree is meaningless because it was obtained by means other than honest skull-sweat (i.e., “Diversity”).

Hey, if Mrs. Hopenchange can “go there,” then so can I.

Oh, really? Obama was the first black president of the HLR. Here’s what it says over at wikipedia regarding the selection process (emphasis is mine):
“Two editors from each of first-year class’s seven sections (fourteen in all) are selected half by their first year grades and half by their scores on the writing competition. Another twenty are selected solely on their scores on the writing competition. The other seven to nine are selected by a discretionary committee, either to fulfill the review’s race-based affirmative action program, to select students who just missed the cut by either of the other two processes, or by some other criteria as the committee sees fit.”

People keep calling the Obama’s elitists. They’re not. They’re wannabe elitists. They’re people who’ve lived their lives wanting to be the elite, so they’ve managed to mimic them until now. They’re the worst kind of “elitist” because unlike the Paris Hilton’s of the world, these people strive to be obtuse.

Oh yeah, great chemistry, they’ve already started a friendly competition, they’re challenging each other to see which can plagiarize speeches better.

Looks like Mrs O should be careful who she lets hang with Mr O, ole greasy Joe the plantation foreman is a bad influence on the junior Senator.

And for the person that doesn’t think Obama’s grades are up to par: you don’t get to be President of the Harvard Law Review unless your grades are top notch. Sheesh.

How do you know this? At the law school I went to, getting onto law review was a two-step competitive process: It began with a cite-checking exercise, followed by submission of a legal research and writing assignment for peer review.

Harvard’s is similar, for the most part:

Two editors from each of first-year class’s seven sections (fourteen in all) are selected, half by their first year grades and half by their scores on the writing competition. Another twenty are selected solely on their scores on the writing competition.

However, there’s a “back door” for certain applicants who, uh, don’t meet the “ordinary” criteria:

The other seven to nine are selected by a discretionary committee, either to fulfill the review’s race-based affirmative action program, to select students who just missed the cut by either of the other two processes, or by some other criteria as the committee sees fit.

    [emphasis added]

If he’s supposedly so brilliant, Hopenchange would have no problem making his Harvard transcripts available; not only would it squelch speculation that something other than his grades or his research/writing ability made him law review president, to do so would also be a general point in his favor.

    But he won’t.

A plausible explanation for the natural question, “Why not?” is that Hopenchange well knows what can happen when inconvenient records get dredged up. He was the direct beneficiary, for example, when two of his electoral opponents’ sealed court records somehow became unsealed.

Having seen his opponents destroyed by timely revelations from their past, it stands to reason that he wants to avoid the same thing happening to him.

    Ergo….

    - Columbia transcripts: “classified.”

    - Harvard transcripts: “classified.”

    - How he got onto Harvard Law Review in the first place, not to mention becoming president of it: “classified.”

For being such a smart guy, he sure goes to great lengths to conceal the evidence of it.

And, Mrs. Hopenchange’s assertion notwithstanding, picking “Slow Joe” Biden doesn’t prove that you’re “not afraid of smart people.” A more persuasive case can be made that the opposite is true.

I sincerely hope she gets the same kind of reaction from her viewers as Us weekly did from it subscribers.

Apparently the Golden Calf is irritated with the prospect of losing:

The American people can’t afford for us to come in second.”

Yup. Obamessiah is more peeved about having to put up with hotel (arugula-less?) food and airplanes for losing… note the afterthought about “American people can’t afford for us to come in second”.
