Chill wind alert: Conservative talkers sued to shut them up

Radio Equalizer’s Brian Maloney reports on the latest attempt by leftist speech-chillers to level the talk radio playing field…by suing conservative talk radio hosts to shut them up and shut them down:
Having failed to shut down conservative talk radio through every means possible, including well- funded attack sites, smear strategies and so much more, the left has opened up a new front on its war against viewpoints they oppose. The new approach: simply sue your political foes right out of business.
In what appears to be a test case for what could become a future trend nationwide, a suit has been filed in Los Angeles against conservative talk station KRLA, which is owned by Salem Broadcasting.
In the suit, David Birke and attorney Johnny Birke argue that KRLA uses public airwaves to push Republican Party causes, an old lefty chestnut.
Barack Obama’s thug lawyers give the tactics two thumbs up.

stevevvs: you obviously don’t remember how Limbaugh was against the Republican position on immigration, on the Gang of 14, on the huge GOP-supported steel and ag subsidies, on the Medicare drug program expansion. Or on Harriet Myers.
Fact is, Rush isn’t a member of the GOP. He’s a conservative.
You obviously don’t remember that until McCain picked Palin he was not on board with the GOP presidential ticket.
IOW you don’t listen to him.
As for Savage: if you want to spend a couple hours daily listening to a severely-disturbed man, filled with hatred and resentment and rampant social insecurities, you go right ahead.
Savage is “right” about many things he speaks of, but he is an unbearable downer in an America that has historically succeeded through its optimism.
Savage often mutters about Limbaugh playing golf with “elite” and for owning a private jet.
Can we call this what it is, which is envy, pure and simple? Is envy (aka coveting thy neighbor’s goods) a conservative principle?
Savage mocks Limbaugh for lacking a formal education. Is “credentialism” a valid debating technique? All the works on Reasoning I’ve encountered call it a basic fallacy.
Finally, Savage believes in and uses products based on homeopathy, a crackpot pseudo-science if there ever were one.
If Savage lacks the ablity to distinguish bogus nostrums from real science and medicine, his logic and reasoning are automatically suspect.
You can put a suit on a “________”, but he’s still a/an “________”. Lefties never change.

Judging from the tenor of the comments here, few of us are really worried about this having any real impact. But it’s quite telling that these groups would do this.
It must comfort you to no end to know they’re on your side of the political fence, and stamping out freedom of speech to your benefit, eh?
