MTV’s new logo
I adapted my blog report on MTV’s Obama-gasm for the New York Post today. It’s here.
I take special note of America-bashing host Russell Brand’s Osama bin Laden stunt the day after 9/11 and point out that this is a great, big poke in the eye from Obama’s Viacom donors on the seventh anniversary week of the terrorist attacks.
Thanks, Viacom.
Reader Leo Alberti has cooked up an appropriate new logo for the MTV/Viacom Democrat agitprop machine.
Perfect:

***
I pointed out that the Associated Press delighted in Brand’s attacks on conservatives and President Bush. They weren’t alone:
The music blog of the LA Times newspaper described it as “totally, deliriously in the spirit of transgressive rock and roll”, adding: “Russell Brand is a bad, bad boy. Thank the punk rock saints for that”.
The show business gossip blog Defamer lauded him as the “most gleefully filthy-minded comic to come along in some time”, concluding that although he lost the audience: “We really do like [him]”.
Even the Associated Press, America’s leading news agency, was impressed. Brand’s “rock star style and outlandish candor gave the Los Angeles show a pulse”, it wrote, describing him as “unpredictable, witty and offensive”.
The majority of blog comments about Brand’s performance have been critical, particularly from American readers angry about a foreigner attacking their own president, but the condemnation has been far from unanimous.
Rika on the celebrity website TMZ.com wrote: “Russell Brand did exactly what Russell Brand does… not only that he did it fabulously.”
And while Brand may now be hated by many Americans, at least they know his name. On the day of the awards, two of the top 10 most searched phrases among US internet users were “vma host” (5) and “russell brand” (7), according to Google Trends.
And MTV and Brand are glorying in it, too: “VMA Host Russell Brand Calls Show ‘Dawning Of A New Age For America’”

I didn’t even know MTV still existed.
Calm down. People who watch MTV don’t vote.
People who watch MTV, who vote, are all mostly voting DNC ANYWAY, but this guy they had “hosting” this event needs to be answered.
MTV still exists?
Not only do MTV people not vote, they do not even participate in HUMANITY… Got a bang out of the girl who won the IDOL, on the IDIOTS comment about the RING… “NOT ALL OF US ARE SLUTS”. Sums it up…
Methinks you must be racist…
Mo’ TV!
Yep, sounds racist to me. Dang Repubs pulling the race card again.
/sarc
Yes, but it isn’t the one we knew growing up in the ’80’s.
Taliking about Viacom and money. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s contributed to (in order of most):
1) 2008 pretend dem Pres. canidate (Dodd)
2) 2004 dem Pres. canidate
3) 2008 dem Pres. canidate
4) 2008 dem Pres. canidate runner up
5) some other dem
That is soooooooo 1985.
Michael Moore.
Keith Olbermann.
Bill Maher.
Russel Brand.
Sub-human vermin all.
And thank goodness for them; for it is their vile, persecution-infused ilk — more than anything else — that will succeed in keeping OBummer out of the White House.
Maybe, but there were plenty of viewers who are voting Palin/McCain who were watching the show.
MTV’s motto should be something like “We’re raising your kids when you don’t want to.” And just think what they’re getting taught.
Candidate! spelling it wrong once using cut n paste is bad.
Sigh. This isn’t the MTV that I knew.
Actually they and their ilk could be termed cultural parasites.
VOTE OR DIE!
Well I have to admit that the DNC has swept the crack whore vote…..
Wow! Just wow.
I sent this email to Viacom:
My recently deceased brother suffered from many physical and mental handicaps. I am deeply disappointed that you would allow a “comedian” to use an insulting term for a cheap, unfunny political joke. I would also like to point out that MTV is not even a politically-themed station, so I am at a loss for an explanation on why the “comedian” needed to make this poor joke. You have successfuly insulted millions of Americans with disabilities, their families, and other Americans in general by having a British person lecture us about our domestic politics in an insulting manner. I will choose to skip past MTV during my channel surfing in the future.
This guy was just plain un-funny to me, whether he was or was not badmouthing America, our president or people of faith. Everything about him made me wonder how he ever became known in first place.
A talentless, classless, meaningless act. Like Al Gore with chronic bedhead.
Do I get to choose my method of execution???
Michelle
The fact that many who may vote for McCain /Palin watched that “show” belies a huge problem… the ignorance of many who seem to feel that by simply turning the channel all becomes better. It’s never been that simple but far more insidious.
I used to watch Mtv. Then I grew up.
I remember back when they played music videos. But around the time I was in high school, they switched from playing all kinds of music to mostly just rap & hip hop. Then came all the reality shows etc. I guess it is just as well, most of the music and art these days is just garbage. Christian music just keeps getting better and better, though.
Like so many others – after losing their relevance, the only way they can get noticed now is to be offensive. But offensive = creative, right? Right?!
Mtv
RIPgood riddance.Excellent article in the post, Michelle.
For Gods sake, keep your kids away from that trash. Better yet, watch it with them and explain why that garbage is not something they what to wallow in.
Lab culture failures is more accurate … IMHO
What is the difference between most of hollywood these days and the crack whore on the corner? Thier pay grade. Seriously, the way these people act would never be acceptable in any other part of society. More and more they are all doped up sex feinds. And they seem to get celebrated for it.
This guy is so full of himself, another audacious, arrogant narcissist. I guess that is why he is so attracted to the Obamitler. Love among narcissists must be something like the love among theifs.
Dawning of a new age for America, yeah, after we elect McCain/Palin in november! PUNK
I just uncheck the station when setting up my “favorites” on Direct TV.
When my granddaughters asked me what channel is MTV I just told them we don’t get that station. Done deal. (same deal for MSNBC and the soap channel)
If OBummer loses, there are going to be violent riots committed by virulently unstable people (as oppossed to if McCain loses, in which case there will not).
The Idiot Media, of course, will be sympathetic.
We should all get prepared for the cascade of feculant sludge that will explode out of the unhinged Left if OBummer is defeated.
What happened to the politically correct .
He’s just another example of using shock as a substitute for talent.
I wish I was good at PhotoShop…ever since that Obama logo came out, I’ve wanted to layer(?) it onto the Rolling Stones’ tongue logo…. Get the picture???
I think it was the pet shop boys lead singer that said nobody cares what singers think about politics…when will MTV ever learn?
Yes. You can either watch “Parental Control” or “NEXT” until you keel over.
MTV
Mostly Terrible Viewing
Minimize The Volume
Hopefully that euroTRASH will not come back then.
some eurotrash git talking about american leaders when they still fund the queen and her wanker offspring.
There … much better … fixed that for you …
Oh my Gosh, Erin Brockovich is on TV advertising some asbestos/personal injury attorneys…..I digressed…
I guess liberals are allowed to violate the doctrine of political correctness when it suits their goals, yet if a conservative were to be politically incorrect…
NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! (dramatic gestures inserted here)
Russell Brand’s in serious need of personal grooming.
Who listens to someone who looks like that?
Just as “video killed the radio star”, the internet killed the video star.
Russel Brand will be an afterthought in a week.
I don’t think he “does” personal grooming.

Yeah, and what was up with the eyeliner and Tina Fey hair-don’t? He looked as ridiculous as what he tried to pass off as humor sounded. (I saw snippets on FNC, I did/do not watch MTV.)
sonofdy: leave Eric Cartman’s mother (cover of Crack Whore magazine) out of this. I believe that even she is not dumb enough to vote for Obama. On the other hand igm, chapoutier, and nero aren’t quite as smart.
I hope it is the dawning of a new age.
One in which anti American sentiment is out of favor and foreigners who disrespect the president don’t find gainful employment here.
Most of all I hope that foreigners who don’t like America practice their freedom to stay out of America.
Love it or stay home, to paraphrase.
Why didn’t they just drag out Gary Glitter to show up too?
This poseur has as much “punk cred” as Joe Biden. El-Dorko here looks like he dresses from the clearance rack at Hot Topic.
“Oooh, look at his crazy hair! He has an accent! Punk rock!”
I’ll take Lemmy from Motorhead over this “chap” any day.
Lemmy rules! Did you catch Motorhead on tour recently? I did. It was great.
That graphic! Isn’t that one of the infamous MO Tunes? Rioting starts in 3, 2, 1 …
MTV is gay. MMMMKAY
Coming to the U.S. is a privilege, a privilege to those who are willing and capable of showing respect to our country as a whole. This guy and his annoying accent should be on the next cargo plane to the U.K.
I’m probably in the minority here – an old fart baby boomer, but I remember being less than impressed; in fact, quite bored, by MTV’s music videos when they first came out in the early 80s.
I remember telling our oldest two kids in the mid 80s that the videos were essentially a distraction from the fact that the songs, the music, was just not that good.
I told them to close their eyes, and then see (no pun intended) if they actually wanted to bother to listen to the songs.
They agreed with me.
In fact, years ago, they shared an old joke with me that has a similar message:
“What did some in the crowd at a Grateful Dead concert say when the drugs ran out? ‘Hey, this music really s**ks!’”
BTW, they are now both very good, self-taught musicians.
Most of us watched because we have a child who is a fan of the Jonas Brothers (or Miley Cyrus).
MTV knows JB is a huge draw for girls under 18. Yet the dissonance between a crass comic and the relatively innocent fans of a boy band was probably intentional. After all, this is a network that features game shows where they shower people with human waste in the name of humor. Ha ha.
My kids are sharp enough to pick up on Brand’s schtick. Plus, their mother and I were in the same room discussing his views with them.
I’ve got bigger problems with school teachers telling my son that if we vote for Obama, we’ll get more money for tuition and all sorts of other free stuff. My 11-year old dutifully pointed out to her that nothing is free.
The British are such treacherous, wheedling people. Every one of them thinks he or she is better than every one of us. We do not have to tolerate them.
Anyone aware of an American saying similar things while broadcasting in another country?
Yet, the liberals like to constantly remind us that we are considered “ugly Americans” overseas.
More left hypocrisy.
I am voting for McCain/Palin for many reasons. However, now, the preeminent one is:
To watch Keith Olbermann’s head explode.
not all of them are…I’m married to a brit and she considers herself American first. Like anywhere else there are good and bad and the really disgusting…I’d put Brand into that category…

Motorhead/Misfits. Saturday night. Gonna party like it’s 1983 (except I can have a few beers). Yesssssssss!
Dang it Gorebot…I thought the bold emphasis you typed about Olbermans head exploding was a link…I kept trying to click it ’cause that would be a funny thing to watch!!!!!
I could really care less about this spindly unkempt enemabag of a defunct British loser.
Sorry, but any male with fabulously teased hair (I think this is called the 60 MPH style, Vespa), pencil legs, studded belt for looks, fur coat??, and of course gay British appeal does not speak for the entire world.
In the Amazon, he would be considered an hor’dourve.
Yet, he was just soooo deliciusly sassy!
Torpedos Los!
I feel like stepping into it this morning.
What is distressing to me is that it seems that some on the Right (see “The US Magazine Article: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Palin Bandwagon over at debbieschlussel.com) are succumbing to this style of MTV political attack. I don’t mind Debbie questioning the Sports Center project when Palin was mayor of Wasilla. It seems to have been one of those ideas that sounded great but ran into unexpected problems. Happens all the time in politics and the situation is a legitimate object of political analysis and criticism.
However, calling (by proxy) her pregnant daughter a “slut” (Note: that particularly ugly bit has now been removed from the site but perhaps can still be found in a cache somewhere) and showing a two decade old picture of Palin (she would have been 23-24) with a T-shirt saying “not flat busted” as an example of her “tasteless manner” is way over the top. Yes, Debbie says “I can’t hold her tasteless manner then against her now” but that is exactly what she proceeds to do.
This stuff is weak and unworthy. But I expect to see a lot more of it from the Left and Right. Going to be a grim 8 weeks folks, and then it will start to get really bad.
Good point DougT about teachers.
My son used to protest me going over his school assignments and pointing out the bias. Now that he is in college he sees the bias himself and points it out to me!
BTW, my son loves music but hardly ever watched MTV. I did not have to use parental controls on the TV (a poor substitute for active parenting). He was responsible enough to separate the garbage from the good stuff.
This goes to show how badly they misunderstand Americans. I don’t think the average American is going to be swayed by such a plea. Quite the opposite, in fact.
I’ve been saying for over a year that if Obama is elected President it means that I am very, very wrong about the basic character of this nation. And that is possible, of course, I’ve been wrong before once or twice. But I don’t think I’m wrong about this.

Agreed. Somone needs to remind the world (and many of our own citizens)that our whole country was founded on extending a certain finger to England/Europe, and then bailing out of there. Seemed like a good idea then, seems like a good idea now. Just sayin’.
Locked and loaded on a second-story perch. No worries here.
Hello, put down the crack pipe and listen up. America didn’t become the top dog by listening and following the crowd. If we decide to descend into mediocrity, then we will listen to Europe.
How do you think he will fare under sharia law?
This is creepy to say the least. My 11-year-old came home and told me the same thing! Being from a historically conservative county in VA, I thought the crack about “If Obama’s elected, you’ll get free college tuition for doing community service” would get smirks and wisecracks. Unfortunately, my daughter reported “DNC zombified” looks on their faces.
I thought about writing a letter or calling the school, but I figure the results of 11/5 will set ‘em straight. And these are the people teaching our kids…
Of course the media poobahs liked him. They like anybody who upsets or annoys normal, mature people.
MTV is pure trash, slopping out the worst swill Hollywood and Madison Avenue could churn out. A more appropriate logo would be “MTV” inside a toilet.
My spouse is British/South African. There are many instances in which he would agree with that sentiment, but not all. There is something very different about those colonials who grew up in the southern hemisphere–they are very different from folks from the UK.
He considers himself an American, mind you, and is proud of his citizenship. This kind of…person…(Brand) makes his blood boil.
{snort} lmao
Sandyb, you aren’t in Chesterfield County, are you?
It is indeed the dawning of a new age in America. It’s called conservatism.
Andrew Breitbart, on the Hollywood/MTV Left:
I feel sorry for the moderate Democrats whose party is in the vise-lock of thse people.
Well, as fast as the muslims are taking over Europe, and Britain in particular, they won’t have much use for the likes of Russell Brand much longer. The problem is he’ll have nowhere else to go but here.
The Looney Lefties don’t seem to have any shortage of foul-mouthed brain-dead personalities spewing never-ending streams of vitriol like a broken sewer pipe. They are experts at this, like the last time ole Whoopie got drunk and lapsed into her potty-mouth temper tantrum during the Kerry campaign. Nothing new here.
Loved your article on NY Post, Michelle. It definitely points out that the multimedia conglomerate that’s in Obummer’s corner will be in the tank for him as well.
Question: why won’t our “dear leaders” in Congress please finally close the bundling, PAC window for both parties so that the actual, electoral process is controlled by the people? We need not look further to the problems with the bundling process than what’s happening with Viacom.
What’s more ironic is that the Viacom big wigs think that holding the snake and patting it gently will make it less likely to bite you. Unfortunately, accomodating socialism and it’s deluded Dem supporters will further get you into the propaganda business. Isn’t that right, MTV?
Russell Brand said the Brits wanted Obama to be elected and begged the viewers to vote for him. Now there’s a poll that says the world agrees.
I’d say that’s one of the best reasons to vote McCain/Palin. If the UN is any indication, not many countries are our friends. They’ll take our aid but will condemn us for everything we do.
I’d like to see McCain dis-invite the UN from our country and send them packing.
Liberals….
As a Missouri (MO) resident, I find that logo offensive. /sarc
True. If our enemies (including the Euros – I no longer consider them allies) don’t like a candidate, then that tells me he is good for America.
And he’s just the one to do it too. I’d like to see that famous temper flare up and tell the UN to go pound sand.

Russell Brand reminds me of that luckless lad.
Too bad so few of the MTV audience actually get to the polls. ROFLMAO
Great asset that Viacom. Dont they own Howard Stern too? I am sure he is a big government censorship fan of Flinchy The Marxist. NOT!
Oh such a sweet contradiction. lol
Flinchy has spent so much money and he’s LOSING.
LMAO….Alaska!!!! Alaska is the decisive voice in this election against the Great Messiah (Imam?) ROFLMAO
Spacen—-lol…yes, it is our two-letter state code isn’t it?
By the way, isn’t Joe blow Biden in mid-Missouri today somewhere?
Who?
Wow, talk about your double standards….. every time I’m “unpredictable, witty and offensive” I’m usually branded a racist or bigot by the left wing crack heads. (Ooooo did I just offend the crack heads)?
Vote from the rooftops!! Locked and loaded here as well.
My kids grew up on MTV when it was new. Now they are 30 and 27 respectively with good educations and good jobs, more importantly with sound self-defining brains, values, attitudes, and aptitudes.
My daughter has dual citizenship in the USA and the EU. She works as a health marketing consultant for a private corporation analyzing trends in europeans health practices, habits, and preferences in nutrition. Her job is helping a corporation create value in the lives of real people.
My son is a film editor and producer. He works in the independent area of film and is not beholden to the sewer pipe that has become Hollywood’s main staple of production. Again, he is someone who produces value in the arts and loves his Creator at the same time.
My point: my kids grew up eating too much sugar, discovered tobacco and nicotine and guns in their early teens, stayed up late more than i did as a kid, and seemed to have explored the edges of just about every aspect of living that a human primate might be enticed to do before the age of 25.
And- they turned out to be two people i would not only take a bullet for but whom i would trust with the last round available to be used against the enemies of the state, both foreign and domestic.
Bravo, MTV, for being around in the marketplace of ideas when my kids were impressionable and deciding for themselves right from wrong. Bring it on. They wont be voting for that Fraud Flinchy and his Lovely Wife Mike, no matter how many stooges come on the screen dressed to resemble WhoFlammaBinBama.
What is most noticeable about these two fine offspring in this perverted election season is that they are looking at one issue and one issue only (now that they are working for wages in a profession): will i have to give more money to the government so that the slobs in the espresso bars will be getting their joe with the money the working stiffs have ante’d up to the bloated governments…in the EU it is a given. But here in the USA we still have a chance.
/Rant off
Bear1909 out
Interesting parallel. Here’s another one: Flinchy’s backers are the Fop Prince who appoints the hack boyfriend as “minister of defense”. The American electorate is that King who takes the fop’s obsession and hurls him out the window.
His last words to the know-nothing pretty boy are something along the lines of “Do you really think I need to hear your voice when my kingdom is on the line?” and blammo….hurls his scrawny butt right out the window to his demise.
ROFLMAO….and then the fop Prince attacks the king lamely with a knife u couldnt cut a squirrel with LMAO…..ooo so scared of Soros and Geffen and Glockenschpielber….LMAO
Bring it on!
They can’t even take on Alaska…LMAO….too damn funny…how many billions have they burned trying to elect this Know Nothing Closet Moslem?

I’m offended by having my president called a retard. That term is offensive no matter how it is used. I’m opposed to politically correct language but not offensive.
I remember when MTV first started. It was the summer after I graduated high school. It was nice to see a lot of new bands being broken for the first time. Now it has been turned into a cesspool. It has unfortunately become totally irrelavant.
Recently there was a primary school in England where parents of the students found out that there were gay themed books in the library. One was about two male penguins who decide to raise a child together, my two mommies, etc. Parents complained and were basically told to take a leap.
Some time later Muslim parents found out about the books and complained, the books were taken out of the library the next day. This is liberalism, aligned with Islam extremism. Islamic extremists are unorganized and just in love with power and violence. The majority of us who are MM fans understand and see the schizophrenic, suicidal identity that is the left.
Brand’s comedy probably consists of kissing Muslim a$$ in England and fighting those that he knows will not hurt him back all from his lofty left venues. When Islam turns on Brand, I’ll bet he goes with a small whimper still cursing that freedom which requires responsibility and probably praising the “if it feels good do it” because consequences of bad decisions should be up to the government to pay for. He does not see that the enemy is counting on his debauchery to help do him in. I do not see how Europe is going to survive too many more decades of this patheticness.
