MTV’s new logo

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 9, 2008 10:30 AM

I adapted my blog report on MTV’s Obama-gasm for the New York Post today. It’s here.

I take special note of America-bashing host Russell Brand’s Osama bin Laden stunt the day after 9/11 and point out that this is a great, big poke in the eye from Obama’s Viacom donors on the seventh anniversary week of the terrorist attacks.

Thanks, Viacom.

Reader Leo Alberti has cooked up an appropriate new logo for the MTV/Viacom Democrat agitprop machine.

Perfect:

***

I pointed out that the Associated Press delighted in Brand’s attacks on conservatives and President Bush. They weren’t alone:

The music blog of the LA Times newspaper described it as “totally, deliriously in the spirit of transgressive rock and roll”, adding: “Russell Brand is a bad, bad boy. Thank the punk rock saints for that”.

The show business gossip blog Defamer lauded him as the “most gleefully filthy-minded comic to come along in some time”, concluding that although he lost the audience: “We really do like [him]”.

Even the Associated Press, America’s leading news agency, was impressed. Brand’s “rock star style and outlandish candor gave the Los Angeles show a pulse”, it wrote, describing him as “unpredictable, witty and offensive”.

The majority of blog comments about Brand’s performance have been critical, particularly from American readers angry about a foreigner attacking their own president, but the condemnation has been far from unanimous.

Rika on the celebrity website TMZ.com wrote: “Russell Brand did exactly what Russell Brand does… not only that he did it fabulously.”

And while Brand may now be hated by many Americans, at least they know his name. On the day of the awards, two of the top 10 most searched phrases among US internet users were “vma host” (5) and “russell brand” (7), according to Google Trends.

And MTV and Brand are glorying in it, too: “VMA Host Russell Brand Calls Show ‘Dawning Of A New Age For America’”

I would also like to point out that MTV is not even a politically-themed station, so I am at a loss for an explanation on why the “comedian” needed to make this poor joke. You have successfuly insulted millions of Americans with disabilities, their families, and other Americans in general by having a British person lecture us about our domestic politics in an insulting manner. I will choose to skip past MTV during my channel surfing in the future.

Then came all the reality shows etc. I guess it is just as well, most of the music and art these days is just garbage. Christian music just keeps getting better and better, though.

Like so many others – after losing their relevance, the only way they can get noticed now is to be offensive. But offensive = creative, right? Right?!

I remember telling our oldest two kids in the mid 80s that the videos were essentially a distraction from the fact that the songs, the music, was just not that good.
I told them to close their eyes, and then see (no pun intended) if they actually wanted to bother to listen to the songs.
    They agreed with me.

In fact, years ago, they shared an old joke with me that has a similar message:
“What did some in the crowd at a Grateful Dead concert say when the drugs ran out? ‘Hey, this music really s**ks!’”

What is distressing to me is that it seems that some on the Right (see “The US Magazine Article: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Palin Bandwagon over at debbieschlussel.com) are succumbing to this style of MTV political attack. I don’t mind Debbie questioning the Sports Center project when Palin was mayor of Wasilla. It seems to have been one of those ideas that sounded great but ran into unexpected problems. Happens all the time in politics and the situation is a legitimate object of political analysis and criticism.

However, calling (by proxy) her pregnant daughter a “slut” (Note: that particularly ugly bit has now been removed from the site but perhaps can still be found in a cache somewhere) and showing a two decade old picture of Palin (she would have been 23-24) with a T-shirt saying “not flat busted” as an example of her “tasteless manner” is way over the top. Yes, Debbie says “I can’t hold her tasteless manner then against her now” but that is exactly what she proceeds to do.

This stuff is weak and unworthy. But I expect to see a lot more of it from the Left and Right. Going to be a grim 8 weeks folks, and then it will start to get really bad.

We should all get prepared for the cascade of feculant sludge that will explode out of the unhinged Left if OBummer is defeated.

Locked and loaded on a second-story perch. No worries here.

I’ve got bigger problems with school teachers telling my son that if we vote for Obama, we’ll get more money for tuition and all sorts of other free stuff. My 11-year old dutifully pointed out to her that nothing is free.

This is creepy to say the least. My 11-year-old came home and told me the same thing! Being from a historically conservative county in VA, I thought the crack about “If Obama’s elected, you’ll get free college tuition for doing community service” would get smirks and wisecracks. Unfortunately, my daughter reported “DNC zombified” looks on their faces.

I thought about writing a letter or calling the school, but I figure the results of 11/5 will set ‘em straight. And these are the people teaching our kids…

Question: why won’t our “dear leaders” in Congress please finally close the bundling, PAC window for both parties so that the actual, electoral process is controlled by the people? We need not look further to the problems with the bundling process than what’s happening with Viacom.

What’s more ironic is that the Viacom big wigs think that holding the snake and patting it gently will make it less likely to bite you. Unfortunately, accomodating socialism and it’s deluded Dem supporters will further get you into the propaganda business. Isn’t that right, MTV?

I’d say that’s one of the best reasons to vote McCain/Palin. If the UN is any indication, not many countries are our friends. They’ll take our aid but will condemn us for everything we do.

I’d like to see McCain dis-invite the UN from our country and send them packing.

MTV’s motto should be something like “We’re raising your kids when you don’t want to.” And just think what they’re getting taught.

My kids grew up on MTV when it was new. Now they are 30 and 27 respectively with good educations and good jobs, more importantly with sound self-defining brains, values, attitudes, and aptitudes.

My daughter has dual citizenship in the USA and the EU. She works as a health marketing consultant for a private corporation analyzing trends in europeans health practices, habits, and preferences in nutrition. Her job is helping a corporation create value in the lives of real people.

My son is a film editor and producer. He works in the independent area of film and is not beholden to the sewer pipe that has become Hollywood’s main staple of production. Again, he is someone who produces value in the arts and loves his Creator at the same time.

My point: my kids grew up eating too much sugar, discovered tobacco and nicotine and guns in their early teens, stayed up late more than i did as a kid, and seemed to have explored the edges of just about every aspect of living that a human primate might be enticed to do before the age of 25.

And- they turned out to be two people i would not only take a bullet for but whom i would trust with the last round available to be used against the enemies of the state, both foreign and domestic.

Bravo, MTV, for being around in the marketplace of ideas when my kids were impressionable and deciding for themselves right from wrong. Bring it on. They wont be voting for that Fraud Flinchy and his Lovely Wife Mike, no matter how many stooges come on the screen dressed to resemble WhoFlammaBinBama.

What is most noticeable about these two fine offspring in this perverted election season is that they are looking at one issue and one issue only (now that they are working for wages in a profession): will i have to give more money to the government so that the slobs in the espresso bars will be getting their joe with the money the working stiffs have ante’d up to the bloated governments…in the EU it is a given. But here in the USA we still have a chance.

Interesting parallel. Here’s another one: Flinchy’s backers are the Fop Prince who appoints the hack boyfriend as “minister of defense”. The American electorate is that King who takes the fop’s obsession and hurls him out the window.

His last words to the know-nothing pretty boy are something along the lines of “Do you really think I need to hear your voice when my kingdom is on the line?” and blammo….hurls his scrawny butt right out the window to his demise.

ROFLMAO….and then the fop Prince attacks the king lamely with a knife u couldnt cut a squirrel with LMAO…..ooo so scared of Soros and Geffen and Glockenschpielber….LMAO

Recently there was a primary school in England where parents of the students found out that there were gay themed books in the library. One was about two male penguins who decide to raise a child together, my two mommies, etc. Parents complained and were basically told to take a leap.

Some time later Muslim parents found out about the books and complained, the books were taken out of the library the next day. This is liberalism, aligned with Islam extremism. Islamic extremists are unorganized and just in love with power and violence. The majority of us who are MM fans understand and see the schizophrenic, suicidal identity that is the left.

Brand’s comedy probably consists of kissing Muslim a$$ in England and fighting those that he knows will not hurt him back all from his lofty left venues. When Islam turns on Brand, I’ll bet he goes with a small whimper still cursing that freedom which requires responsibility and probably praising the “if it feels good do it” because consequences of bad decisions should be up to the government to pay for. He does not see that the enemy is counting on his debauchery to help do him in. I do not see how Europe is going to survive too many more decades of this patheticness.
