True. The risk is that Obama may have sprung a rhetorical trap for the McCain campaign. Listening to radio news today, clips of Obama’s
response heavily rely on the
comment Obama made. If McCain and his supporters over-plays the response, Obama may reclaim the rhetorical high ground by inoculating himself against the tough questions that are finally starting to be asked - such as O’Reilly’s interview.
Did he mean Palin with the pigs comment? Likely.
Did Obama mean McCain with the stinky-dead-fish comment? Likely.
Now he’s using the McCain Campaign’s response to divert attention from the O’Reilly interview and the TRUE issues that could lead to his defeat.

Just got back from the McCain / Palin rally in Fairfax, Va. this morning. It was supposed to be held at Fairfax High School football field but response was so great that they moved it to Van Dyke Park down the street. If I had to guess I would say 40,000+ people showed up.

The crowd here today went wild when Gov. Palin took the stage. Awesome.

One other thought, the liberal media has managed to turn the words “swift boat” into something demeaning. I know one of the “swift boaters” interview for the book, and he is an out and out hero. His story of courage under fire is remarkable.

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned is the emotional outbursts from the liberal professors around the nation. In my area, college students who are just returning to start their classes report that some of their professors are literally berserk over the McCain-Palin ticket. The students feel threatened and are afraid to use their names in complaints for fear of adverse consequences to their grades. Interestingly, the particular college involved is funded with public money - from Democrats, Republicans and Independents.

How many times have we seen someone in a live interview say something totally off-color and apologize immediately? It’s just not in BHO to do so.

Well, his only chance of putting Va. in his column on Nov.4th is northern Va. and by what I saw today, that’s not going to happen. The rest of the state is conservative. We will remain RED.
The funny thing is that Obama actually thinks about the comment before he says it. He rubs his head, reaches deep into his well of intelligence, realizes he has already said “ahh, umm, err” and decides to go for it. Path of least resistance for a weak conductor of thought.
The reason I want that big victory is because I don’t want the democrats to come out after the elections and say it was all about race and that’s why Obama lost. If the victory is big enough, they won’t be able to make that charge.
I’m really hoping that he does.

It is a direct reference to Sarah Palin. Makes Obama’s statement that he was only making an innoncent, misintrepreted comment suspect.

Obama has never been up against a tough Republican opponent before. He was in a gerrymandered district in Chicago. He ran against the eighth-string Alan Keyes for senate.
Hillary and the other Democrats couldn’t attack his far left positions or his radical relationships because to do so would have alienated the Democrat Primary base. Not to mention, as Democrats, they had a taboo against attacking any person of color.
Obama the candidate is a sheltered mama’s boy, coming to a tough public school for the first time, and the mean kids are stealing his lunch money and giving him a wedgy. And all he can do is hope his mama (the MSM) will come to his rescue.

You are right, but even that approach is fraught with danger for Obama. He knows what the issues are, he just can’t discuss them intelligently and retain the ability to defend his liberal positions. He can’t risk being called upon to explain how he will pay for them and not actually raise everyone’s taxes. He depends on the 10-15 second soundbite to be able to promise things like, “I will cut taxes for 100 million of the lowest-income Americans”. What he doesn’t say is that his pledge is hollow. Those 100 million low income folks are not paying taxes and are indeed receiving the Earned Income Credit, which is a credit back to you, not a tax paid. He is proposing to as much as triple the EIC. Somebody has to pay for that. He means for the “wealthy” to pay. No matter what minimum income figures he throws around, it will come from those of us in the middle of the spectrum.
Even if he raises taxes on only the very high income earners, which includes a lot of small business owners, they will simply pass it on to us in the cost of the goods and services we purchase from them. Which is inflationary, which reduces buying power. Net effect on our bank accounts is the same. We lose. Econ 101.
The Dhimmicrats as a group of nincumpoops dont grasp the first thing about economics, and more importantly BUSINESS.
If a tax law restricts the market from creating something of value by taxing the incentive to provide it (capital gains of the investing class) the ECONOMY tanks and capital outflows elsewhere.
