Dem. Rep. Steve Cohen (TN) - I submit to you, Mr. Speaker, that the parties have differences. But if you want change, you want the Democratic Party. Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

Charles Manson organized a community of his own, one that Bernadine Dorhn was certainly impressed with. You remember Bernie Dorhn, don’t you? She and her husband Bill Ayers had helped form yet another community, one called the Weather Underground. Years later, when they were done with their declared war against the United States, they helped community organizer and friend Barack Obama organize his first political fundraiser in their home.
If liberals want to play games about the meaning and definition of the words community organizer, then by all means, lets play.

There is a point in a campaign when it becomes a parody of itself. When that happens there is no way to recover, no matter what you do you make things worse. The Democrats have solidly moved into the parody territory. Obama is quickly becoming his own joke and he doesn’t know it. Soon he will walk into a room and everyone will be laughing and he won’t know why. He will awkwardly try to join in and in the process make more a fool of himself.
Obama’s self destruction will not be pretty to watch. His supposed supporters will be abandoning him in droves.

But why make the comparison? As people here have already said, liberals invoke the name of Jesus when it seems to support their purpose. Otherwise, invoking His name brings up threats of lawsuits from liberals.

Actually, Republicans are NOT making fun of community organizers. They are ridiculing the notion that Obama’s brief stint as a community organizer qualifies as “experience” to be Commander in Chief, and leader of the free world.
Place the ridicule in proper context. The only ones making fun of the “position” of community organizer, are the liberals supporting Obama, who have nothing else substantually positive on which to hang their hats.
And what meaningful legislation was this comment relevant too? We should pay these idiots on a piecework basis.

Reminds me of the socialist “strategist” or “advisor” Bob Beckel on a news/news analysis (can’t remember which one, but I believe it was on FoxNews) show about a year/year and a half ago, when he worked himself up to faux outrage (about what, exactly, I cannot quite recall…but it was not something that had been said about him); and said something like, “Don’t tell me how to worship my God.”
Which came off as so lamely fake, because the outrage came from a socialist, a strategist for the group that routinely ridicules religion; and, because his religious faith had not been commented upon in the first place.

Pontius Pilate was an appointed Governor of an occupied country within the Roman empire, unlike Palin who is a citizen and elected Governor of the largest state, which is a represented entity within the United States.
Pontius Pilate had already several bad marks against him as a Governor within the Roman Empire… including mismanaging a bloody uprising years earlier (which was a big reason for him allowing the crowd to decide to crucify Jesus)… while Palin has an 80+ approval rating by the people she represents.
Pontius Pilate attempted to absolve himself of any responsibility in the decision by symbolically washing his hands, while Palin took responsibility and stood up to corruption in her own party and with Big Oil.
Pontius Pilate allowed a horrible compromise… allowing a convicted murderer go free while knowingly condemning an innocent, while Palin favors saving innocents (as per her pro-life stance, especially with Trig).

I called the Washington office and got a smug guy who was not affected by my comments. I also call the Memphis office where I got a young women who was astonished of what I told her. She apoligized for such a remark from the Congressmen. She’s in flyover country, probably a bible clinger too.

But I disagree. Being community organizer says something about the person — he cares about people, he is willing to work for others. By itself it does not make him qualified to be President (there many community organizers and only one President). McCain having been a POW says something about McCain’s character (brave, tough, loyal) but does not qualify him to be President either.

My whole comment about Lenin being a community organizser vs. a founding father of more humble means was an attempt to highlight the absurdity of the Jesus/Pilot analogy as it relates to the achievements of Obama and Palin.
The reason Obama uses his community organizer experience to pad out his resume is because it is pretty thin. Palin pads hers as well - simple begginings as a member of the PTA. However, she follows it up with accomplishments, where Obama fails. In an instant the question has changed from “are you experienced?” to “are you competent?”
It is clear that Obama cannot articulate an answer to that question.
A condescending retort for someone that answered the question in the manner that you preferred? The whole carrot-stick meme is lost on you, isn’t it?
