Oh, nooooo, they never meant to liken Palin to a pig

Who cares? As long as it all helps tear that black hole Obama down and Palin wins?
There’s pigs and there’s pigs. There’s all sorts of pig expressions. Here’s one.
Using these various start phrasings connect to the concluding phrase [and supposed speaker]: ‘I bought a’, ‘You bought a’, ‘We bought a’, ‘That SOB is always putting his’
Pig in a poke. [Michelle O on Biden.]
Pig in a poke. [Democrats on O after losing.]
Pig in a poke. [Soros on how he did with all that money.]
Pig in a poke. [Hillary on Bill; a two decade rant]
Exercise for the reader, answering why Democrats lost election: Pelosi, Frank, Reid, Kennedy, Kennedy, Daley, your-fav…
‘is a pig in a poke.’
NB for PC. replaces ‘black holes’ as a destination of badly spent money.
I have four degrees and I still love my country! Sarah Palin is an inspiration to any honest thinking American because she lives a life that gives meaning to what she says. In the face of an authentic person of substance, the PR manufactured candidates simply look cheap.
Speaking of pigs…
(from this past post by see-dubya)
Looks like Heathcliff (Rusty) went off his meds.
Right on…But I guess day-by-day Michelle Malkin is more interested in posting such crap.

How come Liberals love to stereotype people?
You guys don’t like it then hit the bricks. geeze it’s simple.
It’s Killin em and
I Love it!!!
McCain/Palin 08′

Hahahaaahaa! Every trashy, bashed up car parked in front of a trailer has an obama08 sticker on it. They have to keep them entitlements comin’ in.
I have a B.A. & hubby has a master’s. Actually, we have tasted home-brewed liquor & it is some good stuff. (It isn’t sullied with government-mandated additives.) Regardless, we don’t make it ourselves.
We work more than 40 hours per week–someone has to pay for ilovemycountry’s access to the interwebs.
Correction: It looks like all the trolls (Rusty, chapoutier, nyk, Rob, and the rest of the misguided heathens) went off their meds since Sarah entered the picture. It’s sometimes fun to watch the demons being excorsised.
That’s rich. A lawyer calling anyone a liar. Sheesh! Pot, meet kettle.
Darn good question. Liberals love to place everyone into a category that differentiates them (african americans, hispanics, women, gays, and of course the depsised and hated straight white male) then tells us we are all the same. Drives me nuts. But I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out why liberals do what they do. PC is the antithesis of logic and common sense. It demands you ignore contradicting facts and acept what you are told. And most all libs now worship at the alter of diversity and PC.
If you have proof that I or any other lawyer you know has lied in the course of their duties I suggest you bring that to the attention of the state Bar Association who can forward your complaint to the appropriate ethics board. Until then, lay off the tired and pointless cliches.
Rusty:
As another poster has already suggested: Don’t let the door hit you on the way out! Oh, and take your liberal buddies with you.
You’ve shown yourself to be the most intellecutally dishonest person on the issues of abortion, poverty, gun control, etc. Yet, you complain when Michelle airs the dirty laundry of the Obummer campaign.
I worship no politician like the Left and their empty-headed Messiah. I relate to Palin on a basic, personal story level. I may not agree with her on some things like her initial agreement about the Bridge to Nowhere (which she supported because she thought it would benefit her home state), but I think it wrong to smear her because she reaches out to Americans and threatens Obummer’s “corronation.”
So, run away and suck on your pacifier. That action only demonstrates how truly empty your presence (and that of lgm) is to many of us.
WOW that is the Demo’s talking for sure,I love my country,I have one of them colledge de-grees and it helped me make some guud ole fashion muunshine.Sitting there on them sacks of seed.See what we do is save the best for us and then sale the dregs to them college grads, therefore they think they soooo smart, just like the college grad who just got fired cause he was DUMBASS, having one of them don’t make you no better or smarter,it just gets you started in the world, just like them berkley idiots, they sooooo smart.. And you sit around and listen to them left wing a**h*** professors and then I can see why you go for the 143 day wonder. And by the way when I took my Captains test, you kinda gotta know when you aren’t gonna see land again, they do have a height formula so you know when that land is gonna disappear, and I still have not dropped off that edge yet. by bye rusty hope you can’t remember how toget back here in NOV. Cause it sure is gonna be fun to watch the most hottest pig I’ve ever laided eyes on be the first Female VP,not poor poor Hillary. BAAAHAAAAAA
How do you feel about her continually lying about it?
Actually, I don’t think she’s lying about it. When the public went against the plan was when she changed her mind. I do feel that your comment here reflects some partisan hard feelings on your part.
Why is Obummer misrepresenting his record? What is he saying about bipartisanship? What about his two bills? Why is he mispresenting his role in the Bridge to Nowhere? He and Biden voted for it! They’re the earmark kings compared to McCain and Palin.
And don’t forget emjem24 that both also had the chance to vote and divert the funds for the “bridge” for hurricane victims and they both voted NO.
So she was for the bridge before she was against it?
If you don’t think her continual “I told them ‘No Thanks’” is a lie meant to deceive people into thinking she was some sort of pork reformer, you are crazy.
And what happened to that money for the Bridge that she said “No Thanks” to anyway? Oh yeah….she kept it.
But I guess that is nothing for someone who bills her state for travel expenses while staying at home.
Apparently you are unfamiliar with her track record as Mayor of Wasilla (where she secured 27 million in earmarks for her town of 9,000) and as Governor (where she sent a proposal for $197 million, more per person than any other state). Which is funny because I keep hearing how that is pertinent experience. I would think you would be better informed.
Chap,
I believe if you do a little homework you will find that Gov. Palin spent about 80% less on per diem than her predecessors. I will see if I can find the link.
Beyond pigs, the way cool moment here is when Rusty falls on his sword. Pity that he promises to return victorious. But maybe he’ll come back on his shield with an apple in his mouth.
Understanding Obama’s use: his antecedent and therefore reference is Gov Palin’s speech. His knowing smirk confirms that. His punchline and point was the modification of the phrase, “…still a pig”. And then he signals assent that his audience got it.
As for the webpage pictured above, the image at the bottom shows their point: glasses, lipstick, pig, pearls.
pearls = female indicator
lipstick = Palin’s caricature detail 1
glasses = Palin’s caricature detail 2
pig = their critique and insult.
Here’s the link about per diem costs:

Chaps, if you could stop being intellectually dishonest for a minute and actually address why it is that Obummer and Biden are the “earmark kings.” How did any of these earmarks benefit their consitutuents? There’s no need to be snarky when you don’t even answer my questions with more about Palin.
We already know your mind’s made up and that your whole purpose here is to tar her some, right? Why don’t you start answering some questions about your PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE?
Or would you like to go back on your candidates post-partisan, I’m not a shifty, corrupt politician spiel? I would like to know who benefited more from the earmarks? The actual taxpayers or special interests? Who?
It’s disappointing that you’ll defend your guy’s “bad practices” (because, it’s okay he’s a liberal) while you go after someone who you think is just as bad for doing the same thing. You think I need to be better informed? Dude, look in the mirror.
BTW, McCain said the same quote about Hillary’s health care plan two years ago.. I don’t remember Malkin crying then!…Hypocrite.
Hooo, boy!
Here’s another (linked from Michelle’s story)
This one goes on and on — you will either throw up or laugh your can off! — about how biased CNN is, saying, “Palin knows exactly how to grab media attention using distraction with her lipstick on a Pittbull that started this.” Lipstick ON a Pitbull?
Then it goes on to whine about the librarian and “censuring” books…
Shame on you, books! You are bad books! Shame!
Sheesh!
Hillary’s Heath Plan was a pig…
You LOVE me! You REALLY love me!
Present for the Trolls.
No need to thank me….
it’s a gift
It’s Killin em and

McCain/Palin 08′
Dear Lord. Reading some of the posts here is like slogging through the idiotic crap over at DU.
If someone makes a coherent comment that has merit and is debatable, great. If someone makes asinine statements that are just intended to be insulting is deserving of nothing but contempt and ridicule.
The libs here need to learn the definition of “intellectual honesty.”
I wish we had a REAL god like THOR to pray to.. He wouldn’t take any crap from these liberal loons.
Hat tip: small dead animals
Amazing! No wonder Obama likes Biden.
Obama’s sentence before his pig jibe was plagarized from last Friday’s Washington Post cartoon by Toles.
…and now, a pig who could use some lipstick here.
OK OK! I’m sorry.
No; not really. I’m not.
There seem to be plenty of people on here that can point out Obama’s faults better than I. Why don’t you admit to your new golden girl’s?
Nope!
Palin had used this joke before. Here is an article which showed up on August 29th (The date is confirmed by Google) where it refers to Palin using this joke before.
That article links to this blog post dated June 29th, 2008. That post, in turn, quotes to the book Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned Alaska’s Political Establishment Upside Down which Amazon says was published April 1st, 2008. Here’s the quote:
Palin’s hockey mom joke was easily available to anyone looking into Sarah Palin’s history, as democrats.org obviously did.
Given that chain of events, it is entirely reasonable to think that:
A) The democrats.org “Lipstick on a Pig” reference was a direct slap at Sarah Palin’s primary, and easily discovered, self-identification as a “hockey mom.”
B) Obama learned of this joke and decided to use it in a much more “wink, wink, nudge, nudge, you know what I mean” fashion.
Nope!

That article links to this blog post dated June 29th, 2008. That post, in turn, quotes to the book Sarah: How a Hockey Mom Turned Alaska’s Political Establishment Upside Down, by Kaylene Johnson which Amazon says was published April 1st, 2008. (Note: I tried to link to the book, but Michelle’s site software apparently rejects posts with links to Amazon. You’ll have to look it up yourself.) Here’s the quote:
Palin’s hockey mom joke was easily available to anyone looking into Sarah Palin’s history, as democrats.org obviously did.

That may or may not be true, but the raw numbers are hardly the point. The point is that she defrauded the taxpayers by claiming per diems while she was sitting at home.
Why won’t you answer my questions? Are you too blinded by Obummer’s glow to admit he has some questionable ethics? Everyone has faults, including Sarah Palin. I’ve never called her a Golden Girl or any such thing. I’ve already said that I didn’t agree with her about the Bridge to Nowhere.
If you don’t answer my questions, what does that say about you? You, like many of the other liberal visitors to Michelle’s blog, are intellectually bankrupt when it comes to this guy. You will claim that Obummer has the change mantle when he does the same corrupt things you accuse the Republicans of doing.
If you’re not here for honest conversation, Chaps, than what are you here for? Do you care about honesty, democracy, fairness, or do you think that it’s simply the Dems’ turn at the wheel?
If you don’t want to engage in a conversation, stop with the pretense of actually responding. I’ll let the other regular posters point out your faults.
What was your question exactly? You just seemed to want me to discuss Obama’s pork projects. Every politician’s got em (except actually maybe McCain, though that is up to a bit of debate and interpretation). That includes Obama. If you have specific objections to specific pieces of pork of his, I can’t guarantee I have any sort of answer, but I will try to address it.
The difference is Obama’s not really going out there claiming he is some big pork barrel reformer and literally lying about his record with respect to arguably the most infamous piece of pork in the last decade.
Similarly, I think it is totally fair to go after Obama on public financing. That was a very disappointing and politically motivated decision.
I originally thought that Obama just mispoke when trying to restate the joke, mixing it up with another well-known phrase. After seeing the image though, I’ve changed my mind. Maybe he did just mix it up, but it’s clear it was on his mind because it was included in their behind-the-scenes discussions.
Chap,
State rules say that if your job stations you in Juneau or Anchorage, but you live in another part of the state, you can still get the meal money when visiting your hometown, said Linda Perez, director of administrative services for the governor.
This is part of an article here.
Bottom line: she spent much less than any of her predecessors (when you adjust for inflation). And she was entitled to every cost she claimed.
Wow. Okay. I retract the “defraud” aspect of my assertion and will simply claim she has zero credibility when it comes to being fiscally conservative or a “reformer” if she is willing to take advantage of such a loophole to the tune of $18,000 to eat in her own home.
Chap,
OK what are the “golden girl’s” faults? Most of the accusations against her (and her family) have been ad hominem. You might want to read some of the facts here.
A good indicator of just how little “dirt” there is on her, would be the viciousness and personal nature of attacks on her by otherwise sober editorialists. If they have nothing real, they attack her or her family.
Lets talk about issues. I like most of what I’ve read about her. I have yet to read anything that I would consider a disqualifier for her being VP or president. I have read much that worries me about Obama and Biden as well.
Chap,
Did you read the link I posted earlier about the total cost of her per diem?
Here it is again
and why, exactly, is it a “loophole”?
Chap,
I should have explained why I don’t think it is a loophole.
Here’s a quote from the article I posted at 8:31:
Leighow said the governor saves money when she’s at home — it’s less expensive than staffing and stocking the governor’s mansion in Juneau — and spends far less on travel than her predecessor, Gov. Frank Murkowski.
Palin spent about $114,900 traveling in 2007, versus the $516,600 Murkowski spent the year before, according to state records. Palin’s husband, Todd, also travels less than recent first spouses. Knowles’ wife, Susan, often flew out of state for meetings and giving speeches as the first lady.
From everything I have read, she has been a fiscal conservative. She walks the walk as well as talks the talk. Sure, she wanted the bridge to nowhere – who knows why she changed her mind. The fact is she did do the right thing in the end.
I did read it and again I am less concerned with “total cost” as compared to her predecessor and more with why she is charging the state $60 a day (for 300 days) to eat in her own house. Setting aside whether she is legally “entitled” to it, which at this point I will concede, you don’t think this is absurd?
I would rather have a governor that spent more on legitimate travel than one who spends less but still charges the state for travel she never took.
If she was living in a $2,000,000 mansion like the black hole Obama does, it would cost more than $60 a day.
Good for her.. and the hell with the black hole.
GO PALIN!
Palin is a pig?
No way Obama!
Future statue of the black hole.
Go PALIN!
Chap,
Here’s why she charged the state to eat in her own house:
Leighow said the governor saves money when she’s at home — it’s less expensive than staffing and stocking the governor’s mansion in Juneau. Why should she forgo the money that she is entitled to? If your firm offered you a company car would you turn it down? Do you turn down benefits offered by your employer? Why should she? If that’s all you’ve got, you got nothing!
It may cost more, but it wouldn’t be the government footing the bill, would it?
Sarah has ‘em runnin’ scared and I love every step.
McCain(gulp)/ Palin ‘08
Palin/Jindal ‘12, ‘16
Jindal/? and beyond
Schwarzenger flys home EVERY SINGLE DAMN DAY at the cost of $10,000 of tax payers money an hour for the private jet.
You want to bitch about $60 dollars a day for PALIN????
You sir, have shown how STUPID you are.
ICH BIN EIN PALINER!
I’m totally amazed at how the lefties here a pretending that there is no way whatsoever that Obama’s comment could have been a double entendre. Yet the “lipstick on a pig” comparison is so blinkin’ obvious that it was already being used less than 24 hours after it was announced that Palin had been picked as McCain’s VP. (The time on that post is 8:28 AM.)
Of course Obama’s primary meaning for “lipstick on a pig” was to apply it to McCain’s policies! No one here is saying otherwise. But given how Palin’s bulldog…hockey mom…lipstick joke exploded across the country only a week ago, there is absolutely no way that anyone could miss a secondary meaning tying the comment to Palin’s joke. Maybe a 10 year old wouldn’t get it, or maybe someone who had not yet heard Palin’s joke, but to think that Obama was unaware of a secondary meaning in that context is to think that he is a political naif on the order of a Charlie Brown believing that Lucy won’t pull the football again.
The fact that you lefties are such obvious pretenders is more offensive to me than Obama slyly calling Palin a pig. At least Obama had enough savvy to hide his slam in a double entendre, even if it was as subtle as a pink elephant on Main Street.
Chap,
Don’t you guys get it? This is a decent, genuine, human being. She is smart, appears to have not been corrupted by power or money. The more you guys attack her with smear like attacks, the more sympathy you generate for her. My advice is lay off her and wait to see if the wolf pack digs up something legitimate. Red State Skeptic was adamant that the DNC was not involved in smearing her, but then the RNC has not been involved in smearing Obama.
I have my doubts about Obama being squeaky clean; all his prior opponents had “sealed” divorce records suddenly opened. Once or twice might be a coincidence, but this would be the fourth occurrence (including the attacks on Hillary).
I’d like to stay and play but I have to sign off now.
Good night.
So apparently Obama was calling Sarah Palin “lipstick.”
I suppose it’s slightly less demeaning to write off an accomplished woman as a fashion accessory (lipstick, skirt, etc.) than to call her a pig, but still, Obama has a pattern going here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1X03m-vXm_Y (YouTube link)
Awwww hell. If it would keep the big eared black hole from getting near the WHITE House, I would bet a LOT of us would pay $60 or more out of our own pocket to get Palin in.
Go PALIN
rob, fyi. I tried on both posts and the file in your link is kaput.
Arnold Schwarzeneger flies home EVERY DAMN DAY on a private jet at the cost of $10,000 an HOUR!
$60 a day for Palin sounds pretty damn good!
Go Palin!
The utter lack of logic and factuality…is yours, nyk.
Palin’s joke didn’t mention a pig, and — and this is the point, you tool — she’s told the story many times before. I had already read it attributed to her two days before her speech. Someone on TV, can’t remember who, commented during her speech that it was one of her stock lines.
Oh and btw: for years the leftards have accused Rush Limbaugh of saying Chelsea Clinton was a dog, when in fact he didn’t. Now come the Dems claiming to have been “misunderstood” and “attacked” when their POTUS candidate appears to have called our VPOTUS candidate a pig.
Now they bleat and moan about “unfairness”.
Sweet.
CWinNY:
Couple points:
First, where in NY? City or state? I am a north country boy myself.
Second, thank you for your posts, which are perfectly rational and reasoned, though we may disagree.
Third, I don’t think I personally have smeared her or engaged in base debate. I think that this issue is a legitimate one, certainly not ad hominum.
uhhhhhh… uhhhhh.. hmmmmmm..
The bottom line is: Obama and Biden voted for the bridge. Palin did not vote for the bridge, and in the end she killed the project.
Your complaint seems to be that she still took federal money that originally was “earmarked” for the bridge, and then used it for other more rational purposes. But the money came in the form of a “grant”, not an “earmark” surreptitiously stuck into a bill.
Do you really think that states, whose taxpayers send billions to the feds, are supposed to reject ALL money that comes back to them? Do you not understand how huge Alaska is, and how few good roads and bridges it has? We’re not talking about the 100th Robert Byrd Public Library here!
Lipstick and plagiarism…

Obama = Loser
JTFC. It’s troll fright night here. Mookie, nyk, kRusty the Klown,
Goldtoothmistressjustice and chapoutier are out infarceforce. She did not kill the project. She was still campaigning for it in 2006 when the project was effectively killed in Congress in 2005. She came out against it only after it was already dead and public opinion had turned definitively against it.
I do if they are going to run on a platform of being a pork reformer.
Chapoutier reminds me of those cretins who still obsess over the 2000 election, claiming, in the face of facts to the contrary, that it was stolen, repeating fiction to themselves until they believe it.
The attacks and pseudo-attacks on Sarah Palin just show how all of the claims by the liberals with supporting women and minorities are b.s. if the women or the minorities are not liberals. Sarah Palin, Clarence Thomas, Condaleeza Rice, Michael Steele come to mind. They are for tolerance as long as you support their views.
Look, I’m willing to grant all of you apologists the point that maybe Obama was referring to the failed policies of the Bush administration (such as they are).
But does Obama proof-read what he’s given to say? Was he speaking off the cuff? Did he not watch Palin’s speech?
Seriously, guys, even if he didn’t mean it that way he must have known how it was going to be interpreted. It either shows that he’s totally callous, or seriously stupid.
After all the manufactured outrage his folks have generated during this campaign, I don’t really mind if McCain’s people took his fumble and run with it. His mistake. Man up, apologize, at least say, “hey I didn’t mean it and sorry it looked like that.” Don’t act outraged yourself. You should have known how it was going to be interpreted, and you still did it. Stupid. Deal with the consequences or make some sort of non-apology apology and be done with it.
– lonewolf
No, you’re thinking of lgm. Chapoutier actually raises important questions that we should be considering, and is willing to admit the fault of the Democratic candidates when faced with them.
In my humble opinion, he’s not deserving of much of the vitriol he receives here. I frequently disagree with him, but he is civil and reasonable.
If we are really interested in the best for our nation, we should be just as interested in our candidates’ faults as in those of their opponents.
To be fair, I wasn’t really either yesterday, until I calmed down a bit. This story really got my blood boiling.
My apologies, esp to aj, who didn’t deserve what I wrote.
Governors don’t put pork into spending bills. Spemding bills come from Congress. Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska attached the Bridge to Nowhere in a spending bill.
Gov Palin may have lobbied for it or asked for it, that I do not know but I doubt it. In any case, it was Ted that wanted it and asked for it.
Pork is allowed in Congress unfortunately. If pork is allowed and Congress says ok, what’s the problem? Is that Sarahs problem? No. I don’t see a lot of Governeors arguing with the State’s US Senators and Congress people to stop getting money for the state. That is illogical.
In this case, people questioned why that pork was in there and Congress took it out. Sarah Palin may have said she didn’t want it but she is not in Congress and therefore can not put it in or out of a spending bill. She can only lobby one way or the other. She is saying she lobbied to take it out. Good for her. Is that a lie, that she didn’t ask to take it out? I don’t know but I’ll take her at her word because she is charismatic and good looking and a minority, and smart and ….a conservative. Wow. Why actually dig deeper than that. Sound familiar Libs?
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Whoops..another sexist line. I have been watching to much of the Obama campaign.
Barack Obama is criticizing the McCain campaign for manufacturing outrage over a perfectly innocent but intentionally and maliciously misinterpreted comment.
Isn’t it time we call a spade a spade and recognize that this just another case of the pot calling the kettle black?
