What the hell is the matter with The New Republic?

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 11, 2008 03:48 PM

Track Palin, 19, enlisted in the Army last year. This week, he is headed to Iraq. Gov. Sarah Palin flew to Alaska last night to see him off. She will speak ahead of his deployment. He will be gone for a year.

So, what is The New Republic obsessing about as the teenager prepares to fight for our country on the seventh anniversary week of 9/11?

Track’s “temper.”

What the…?!?!?!?!

So much for leaving the children alone.

Maybe they’ll put Scott Thomas Beauchamp on special assignment to cook up fake stories to slime Track Palin while he’s serving overseas.

The temper and passion that someone shows on a field or in a rink says nothing about how they are off of it. I would like to point out Reggie White, Mike Singletary, Walter Payton, and Merlyn Olson; all were mean SOB’s on the field and about as nice as you could find off.

We certainly would not want a child to be able to think for themselves and then stand up for what they believer, would we? (sarc)

If this were a liberal’s child, the left leaning media would be saying that this might be the next great leader, fighter, and thinker of our time. Since it is a conservatives child, well, this child must have some kind of behavorial inability to get along problem or disease.

First of all, let me make this clear so no one misunderstands my post. This is an absolutely idiotic story and only demonstrates the sheer desperation of the left. I’m certain Track is a fine young man and we’re lucky to have him in our Armed Forces.

By way of explanation for the drive-by media vultures; I played ice hockey, and violence is part of the game, just as it is in football and many other contact sports. This “story” is the sports equivalent of the drive-by media breathlessly reporting a Thousand rounds of ammunition in someone’s house (if you’re not a gun person, you won’t find the humor and absurdity). Of course it’s possible to cross the line of good sportsmanship and act outside the bounds of the rules. Most players, whether professional or amateur, will cross that line once or twice (more for some). Young adults have a lot of undirected or misdirected emotion and pysical energy, and learning how to deal with it constructively is part of growing up. Organized sports is a great way to teach a young man (or woman) how to deal with that and to focus it in a positive direction. Bottom line, there’s nothing to see here folks… move along.

But, just to play with the drive-bys I’ll leave you with this. If you were going to send either Wayne Gretzky or Marty McSorely to kill terrorists, which would you send?

    *NO disrespect intended to either*

i guess the ‘author’ of the blog has never watched a hockey game, ever? please, that is the standard hockey player. i have seen many a toothless hockey player smiling holding up their hockey stick. it didn’t take me to long to connect the dots that this is a pretty tough sport.

well, i guess when you don’t have any real dirt to dish you gotta come up with something.

What the hell is the matter with TNR?

Exactly what the Editor-in-Chief of the National Enquirer has pointed out in this Wall Street Journal piece today: Everything About Politicians is Fair Game. That includes kids, unfortunately.

Palin believes dinosaurs were actually here 4,000 years ago too! Community organizer is code for black! Darn those bottom-feeding Republicans!

Now that’s what I call progressive! They are progressing right down the toilet. Don’t forget to flush.

This is a bit off topic, but why do most stories refer to Sarah Palin as Ms. Palin and not Mrs. Palin?

Laura Ingraham had the current mayor of Wasilla on this morning. She has to deal with a lot of the reporters coming to dig up dirt. She said they’re actually starting to get sick of being told to go uncover “dirt” that isn’t there.

    I know, but I couldnt resist. :)

Btw – I heard Slo-Joe Biden say today he wasnt the man for the VP job – Hillary was much more qualified. Rush is saying Slo-Joe will drop out before the election. Rush is usually right about these things. But I hope he hangs on – he’s helping our cause.

Governor Palin would be the most appropriate.

Personally, I can’t stand “Ms.” and refuse to use it. Everytime I see “Ms.” I think of Gloria Steinem. Ugh.

    I use Mrs.

Pardon me if I’m repeating another comment before me, but, a hockey player playing aggressively is news? Good grief! There’s even a joke that goes, “Yeah, so anyway, I was at a fight the other day and a hockey game broke out”.

I have a good friend who’s husband started playing on an adult hockey league.

She went to the games and was always horrified when her mild-mannered husband would get kicked out of the game.

By the way, what does Track have to do with Sarah? He’s officially an adult now and since he’s joined the military, his drill sargents will take care of anger issues. My daughter went through boot camp and I am still in awe of the way the drill sargents handled the most amazing problems with grace, toughness, and humor.

By the way, what about Michelle Obama’s temper? She has a very short fuse.

Another thought, any PC group that’s upset about dodge ball in elementary school gym classes will never understand an aggresive sport like hockey.
