Lamest Obama ad ever: McCain doesn’t do e-mail!
Scroll for updates…

Obama says he wants to talk about Important Issues.
So, here’s his latest ad attacking McCain.
The serious, deep, important issue?
Obama uses a computer. And John McCain doesn’t.
This is why The World Wants Obama!
***
Obama shouldn’t pat himself on the back so hard for his computer savvy. This is the guy who couldn’t get his massively hyped Magic Text Message on the Biden announcement right.
Reader Norman B. also raises a good point: “What if the reason that McCain doesn’t use the computer is because of his arms? Maybe it is too painful to type because of the torture he experienced in Vietnam.”
***
Allah asks: “If Internet savvy is a basic qualification for leadership in the modern age, how can it be that Billy Jeff — still a major figure in the Democratic Party and the head of an influential global charity — sent exactly two e-mails as president and remains offline to this day?”
A commenter at the liberal TNR blog is shaking his/her head: “I just don’t get the thinking behind it at all. Don’t they realize that there are 83 million Americans in the non-line community? And most of those are probably in downscale households they NEED to turn out? They’re insulting these people! Gratuitously!”
The Obama campaign does have a way of doing that…
***
As strange as it may be to imagine, there are Americans who don’t use email, many who use it rarely, and many who don’t like it. Implying that they are stuck in the ’80s does not seem like a smart move. A lot of these folks are sensitive to being called “out of date” or “out of touch.”
What starts as an attack on John McCain–”he can’t use a computer”–sounds a lot like an attack on everyone who doesn’t. As Allah says, that’s a lot of seniors. But not just seniors. It’s a personal attack on anyone who doesn’t switch on their computers right after they switch on their coffeemakers.
Sure, it squeezes in an attempt at a substantive issue–”he doesn’t understand the economy”–but the gist of the whole ad is that McCain is old and old things aren’t cool. That’s what the shot of the brick cellphone and the rubix cube are all about. But something that Obama obviously didn’t consider is that old people hold grudges, especially when some half-grown dandy spits in their faces.
***
Jonah Goldberg digs up some articles confirming what many readers suspected: McCain doesn’t type because of his war injuries.
He is, however, web savvy and can surf with a mouse.
Ok, now that this Important Issue has been resolved…

McCain is definitely smart enough, that you can be sure of.
John McCain is a wiley fox, a patient man who knows how to lay low and stay absolutely quiet while he sizes up his opponent. He waits until he has a clear opening to strike… and when he does, he does it with surgical precision.
His choice of Sarah Palin for VP was nothing less than brilliant. In one fell swoop he knocked Obamas’ halo right off his head, changed the entire landscape of this election and moved a huge Donk demographic squarely to the center.
John McCain is going to cook Obamas’ scrawney little hide at the debates, and I’m going to love every single minute of it.
I have seen several suggestions that Obama & mind-numbed minions of his may decide that they need to dump Biden and ask Hillary if she can come in and save what is left of the BO campaign. If this were to happen, if Hillary is smart she will reject this notion and say the following:
If this were to happen, and she responded like this, then her supporters wouldn’t be able to wait to go back to her four years from now.
Obama stepped into real deep this time, even by the standards of his campaign. Here are two recent quotes [Goldberg's slightly edited] from the Corner, since I know not everyone is a Corner junky:
Re: Wondering no more [Mark Steyn]
[Jonah Goldberg]
Sorry yohannbiimu -
But Hillary would jump on that. It would be yet another ‘badge of honor’. Dignity has never been in large supply in the Clinton household.
It’s getting there that matters.
By any means necessary.
She’ll eat a crap sammich any time Obama wants to feed her one.
Hey Beenthere
Seems its a twofer:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2081279/posts
McCain not so unsavvy afterall.
Obama looks like a loser idiot yet again.
I disagree with you about most things.. but I guess we have hope in Palin.. that is good.
Okay, so Osnoba can use a computer (assumption here), but can’t talk without a teleprompter.
Am I missing something here?
I remember the bully in grade school that could ride a bike better than everyone else, but still managed to get expelled 10 times a year.
Elitists just don’t get the rest of the country, only understanding their tiny little corner(s)… South Chicago Trinity Church and San Fran.
Lamest
Obama adPresidential candidate everI hope McCain comes out with an ad that responds to Obama’s E-mail ad. I hope McCain shoves it in Obama’s face that, because of wounds suffered as a POW, he is not able to use a keyboard.
This truly is disgusting.
Like I said when it was first announced Palin was the running mate:
Checkmate.
GAME OVER.
That is an understatement.
Obama announces that he is taking the gloves off and is going to get tough on McCain.
Today, Obama puts out THIS ad deriding McCain’s inability to use e-mail.
Obama’s Left Wing Flying Monkeys pounce on the theme and continue the mockery. Real Clear Politics reports in an an article with the headline: Obama mocks McCain as computer illiterate
Just one little problem. There is a reason McCain cannot use a keyboard:
“McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes.”
Barak Obama is mocking the inability of a man to perform a function he is incapable of performing due to the servere injuries he received as a result of being brutally tortured as a POW during the Vietnam War. Shameless. Vile. And despicable.
Look for Obama to issue a statement disclaiming responsibility. Yet, with over 2500 paid employees, over 300 top level advisors, thousands of volunteers and the largest cash accumulation of any candidate in US history, there is NO WAY they were unaware of McCain’s disability. No way.
Obama smeared Hillary Clinton. He picked up where he left off with Hillary and turned up the stentch in his attacks against Palin. And now, he has truly achieved a new low.
This attack on McCain is absolutely disgusting. I hope news of this incident is spread far and wide. It is a revelation into gutlessness and loathesome character of Barak Obama. And a mere glimpse of what this Country is in for if he is elected as President.
Someone quick get Obama a tank and end our suffering.
I guess we now know why Obama passed on visiting our wounded troops at Landstuhl. Too hard to keep from laughing.
I wonder if Biden and the mind-numbed Obaminions have decided on the need to dump Obama himself in favor of Hillary. That was happening in the last of the Democratic primaries.
McCain is a good campaigner, naturally. How many did he win as US Senator?
Michael Barone notes McCain’s military experience which gives him a battle edge over Obama:
If Obama dumps Biden he is finished. Glaring proof that he has poor judgment. McGovern lost public confidence when he dumped Eagleton. The same will happen with a public bearing an already-shaken confidence in Obama.
What we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is Shocking Full-Frontal Incompetence on Obama’s part.
He may be have been able to organize a community, but a national campaign?
NO WAY.
LOL, Tantor, that was brilliant! I hope I can quote you on it.
The Obama ad makes fun of McCain’s disability.
Biden tells his wheelchair-bound prop (sorry) to “stand up, Charlie”.
Yeah. These two are really sensitive and in touch with the American people.

I recommend that book and you are exactly right. It is why you are seeing McCain whacking away and trying to keep Obama off balance. It is also why you see him taking chances on things like the “lipstick” attack.
The problem with OODA is that sometimes it is better to be deliberate then fast. In 7 weeks McCain might accumulate enough missteps to have it work against him.
Saw the ad and it is truly stupid, inspid, elitist and an insult to a great many people.
I have a cousin, now in his early seventies, went to Yale and graduated as a lit. major. As you might expect, he is a very good writer, but he has never embraced word-processing or e-mail and instead bangs out letters still on his manual typewriter.
Think The Chosen One needs new strategists, for ads like these do not reach out to people he needs to reach out to, but rather serve as an echo chamber for those who have already made up their minds (???) to vote for him.
The Globe article from March 4, 2000 also mentions that he can’t tie his own shoes or comb his hair so we can easily imagine what the next BHO ad is going to look like with Cindy combing his hair, straightening his tie and tying his shoes. I’m Barrack Hussein Obama and I APPROVE of this message!
If only McCain had been as smart as Obama and gotten one of those community activist jobs where you’re safe from commie torture, protected by guys like McCain.
Not sure where you will find it, but possibly a better analogy would be an expression we used in the Army called, “getting inside the enemies decision cycle.”
Instead of flying, you create C3 (command, control and communications)capabilities, procedures and processes for each of the four OODA components so you can initiate and complete them faster than your own OODA enemies cycle.
The idea is you ACT, the enemy OBSERVES and your cycles both start. You complete your cycle and ACT again before he can. When that happens he is forced to reset and OBSERVE and never finishes. After several iterations the enemy is thoroughly disrupted and vulnerable.
Boring to read, but fascinating when you see it function.
In the Yahoo news headlines this morning, I see “Analysis: Why McCain is going so negative, so often.” It’s as if including the word “analysis” will prevent readers from recognizing the piece as….a negative attack on McCain from some Obamarrhoid in the media.
Anyway, where is the prominent, mainstream analysis of how negative -and childish- it is for Obama to paint McCain as some computer-illiterate old-timer?
Or trying to land that same program on the same carrier deck at night, in a gale, tired and stressed from combat and low on fuel?
Zero-bama is not fit to be in the same room as McCain much less run against him for office.
McCain was a bomber pilot. The A-4 is not a fighter, it is an attack aircraft, carries no offensive weapons.
Didn’t any of his 300 advisors think about this. Truly EPIC in Gaffeness
misterbee241 said:
It only carries “no offensive weapons” if you disregard the 2 20mm cannons, the 4 AIM 9 missiles, and the 9,900 lb bomb load. Technically it’s not a fighter, but it can bite. Wonder what one would look like in lipstick?
That wasn’t me. The credit for that quote belongs to Tantor.
I think for most people – it’s jet, it’s used in a fight, it’s a fighter jet.
Hey, Obama DOES know how to measure tire pressure! If we all followed Barry’s lead, we would not need oil and the caribou would be safe. Or something like that.
You’re probably right. But for those interested, the letter in the aircraft designation reveals its primary purpose:
A = Attack (A-4)
B = Bomber (B-1, B 52)
C = Cargo (C-130)
F = Fighter Aircraft (F-4, F-14)
P = Pursuit (P-51, P-38)
X = Experimental (X-15)
There’s a few others, but not many more. Those of us that have served in the military understand that pilots get confused if you use the entire alphabet. And they are not permitted to chew gum while flying. Or walking.
Irish Rose you couldn’t have said it better
It’s going to be bombs away for our bomber pilot. Obama’s one big tango.
The only debate I’m more looking forward to is the Palin vs. O’Biden debate. I’ll go all out and have TWO beers instead of one for that one. Sic ‘em Sarah. Wear the blood red lipstick for this one.
misterbee241 said: “McCain was a bomber pilot. The A-4 is not a fighter, it is an attack aircraft, carries no offensive weapons.”
We don’t build single-purpose tactical aircraft like the Soviets. The A-4 can do many different missions. It can serve as a light bomber, dive-bombing targets. It can serve as a fighter protecting its carrier with 20 mm cannon and AIM-9 IR missiles, which are considered pretty offensive weapons. Of course, I’m stumped as to what weapon on any modern tactical aircraft is considered defensive.
If an aircraft flies air-to-air missions, it’s a fighter. Air Combat Maneuvering (ACM or dogfighting) was taught in the A-4 at the Navy Fighter Weapons School (ie Top Gun). That’s pretty convincing evidence the Navy thought it was a fighter, too.
Just for your information, virtually all fighters serve as light bombers. Even the F-15s occassionally train to drop bombs.
So, yes indeed, McCain was a fighter pilot.
Jim M and Tantor:
I flew OV-10s (observation) as a 2nd Lt in Vietnam (while Sen McCain was a ‘guest’ of the North Vietnamese government). After 165 missions, I returned as an instructor pilot in T-38′s (trainers). Eventually I flew A-10′s and lastly flew F-16′s where I commanded a training squadron like Sen McCain.
I always considered myself a fighter pilot not because of what I flew, rather the attitude I and my fellow pilots (no matter the prefix on their aircraft type) exhibited. I am NOT talking about the macho, swaggering Tom Cruise of Holloywood’s Top Gun!
Rather, it is the attitude to take on a challenge (be it in peace or war) to get the mission done in spite of daunting odds.
Pilots with a figther pilot attitude flew their B-24′s to Ploesti and five of them were awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions that August day in 1943. James Howard singlehandedly defended a formation of B-17s using his P-51 (pursuit) to fend off 30+ German fighters — he too was awarded the MOH.
There were fighter pilots in Vietnam who flew into the heavily defended airspace of North Vietnam in aircraft as varied as the A-4, A-1, B-52, F-105, F-4, A-6, A-7, and even in helicopters to rescue airmen who were shot down. I actually flew a single mission over the North in my trusty little OV-10 looking for a pilot who was shot down (but NOT into the Hanoi area!).
You see, it is the attitude, not the equipment flown. My wife still calls me a ‘fighter pilot’ although I haven’t flown a fighter since 1989. She just knows I will always ‘fight the good fight’ as will Sen McCain.
Nail49. Well put.
And kudos to your for flying a 225 mph aircraft in a hostile environment.
NJ-Aviator
Thanks,it was the best assignment of my 22 year career.
BTW, we used to joke about our Broncos (the OV-10) as the only airplane that took off at 120 knots, flew at 120 knots and landed at 120 knots. We found that by flying that slow we could see more and stay over the target longer. Unfortunately, it also made us a better target, but we also used to change bank, pitch or yaw (or a combination of all three) every five seconds to be less predictable — it was like riding a roller coaster for 4-5 hours at a stretch, except someone was shooting at you!
