Lamest Obama ad ever: McCain doesn’t do e-mail!
Scroll for updates…

Obama says he wants to talk about Important Issues.
So, here’s his latest ad attacking McCain.
The serious, deep, important issue?
Obama uses a computer. And John McCain doesn’t.
This is why The World Wants Obama!
***
Obama shouldn’t pat himself on the back so hard for his computer savvy. This is the guy who couldn’t get his massively hyped Magic Text Message on the Biden announcement right.
Reader Norman B. also raises a good point: “What if the reason that McCain doesn’t use the computer is because of his arms? Maybe it is too painful to type because of the torture he experienced in Vietnam.”
***
Allah asks: “If Internet savvy is a basic qualification for leadership in the modern age, how can it be that Billy Jeff — still a major figure in the Democratic Party and the head of an influential global charity — sent exactly two e-mails as president and remains offline to this day?”
A commenter at the liberal TNR blog is shaking his/her head: “I just don’t get the thinking behind it at all. Don’t they realize that there are 83 million Americans in the non-line community? And most of those are probably in downscale households they NEED to turn out? They’re insulting these people! Gratuitously!”
The Obama campaign does have a way of doing that…
***
As strange as it may be to imagine, there are Americans who don’t use email, many who use it rarely, and many who don’t like it. Implying that they are stuck in the ’80s does not seem like a smart move. A lot of these folks are sensitive to being called “out of date” or “out of touch.”
What starts as an attack on John McCain–”he can’t use a computer”–sounds a lot like an attack on everyone who doesn’t. As Allah says, that’s a lot of seniors. But not just seniors. It’s a personal attack on anyone who doesn’t switch on their computers right after they switch on their coffeemakers.
Sure, it squeezes in an attempt at a substantive issue–”he doesn’t understand the economy”–but the gist of the whole ad is that McCain is old and old things aren’t cool. That’s what the shot of the brick cellphone and the rubix cube are all about. But something that Obama obviously didn’t consider is that old people hold grudges, especially when some half-grown dandy spits in their faces.
***
Jonah Goldberg digs up some articles confirming what many readers suspected: McCain doesn’t type because of his war injuries.
He is, however, web savvy and can surf with a mouse.
Ok, now that this Important Issue has been resolved…

I’d rather have no email than no experience.
He may be offline – but he is “plugged in”…
Man, he’s really scraping the bottom of the barrel! This implosion of liberal/socialist America is just amazing to watch.
I think the President can get someone to do that for him. I think they call it a staff.
They also insulting lots of seniors with this ad. Remind me again which group turns out in large numbers to vote.
How can he run his plantation that way?
No matter which way you lean politically, it is clear that the Democrats simply aren’t very good at this campaigning stuff.
For the most part they overthink, and then, when they try to emulate the brilliance of a McCain ad, they do this.
Wouldn’t you love to be sitting at the table when they came up with this? I’m guessing that Schmidt has somone on the inside at the BO HQ feeding them this stuff.
Too funny.
Obama lost his circuits.
He must think less of Teddy Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and Lincoln.
None of whom are computer literate, but literate on America and history, such as John McCain and not Obama.
My gosh, with all the very important issues before America now we get to find out John doesn’t do email! Still gonna vote R because this is below zero on my gotta know list.
L
There are plenty of days when I wish I didn’t have e-mail! I don’t see why this should be considered a negative.
As a computer nerd, I question Obama’s ability to name his operating system in 3 guesses.
Or, his email application…
Did they ask his brother in the hut?
What does the ability (or lack thereof) to use email have to do with understanding (or lack thereof) of the economy? Non sequitur much? It seems that not only is Obama an inarticulate tongue-tripper, but so are the dopes he employs as advisors.
Well, Obama does need to plug into his iTunes once a day at least!
Wow. I am going to go out and change my affiliation to Democrat right now!!
Puh-leeze!
Why did Obama even waste the money on this ad?
My 76 year old Dad doesn’t use the computer either. But he reads a lot and knows who he is voting for, and it isn’t Obambi.
You can bet they won’t do it with email if they do!
Not sure..you got his email address?
McCain may not be internet savvy but he also doesn’t need 60 words to answer a yes/no question.
Obama, sir, the Presidency is waaay above your pay grade.
No, they don’t realize it because Brahmins rarely have a clue about what’s going on with the Vaishyas and Shudras. Worst still, the Chandalas.
He’s an elitist pig with no “hope” of “change”.
Can we assume then that McCain didn’t get the 3AM text message about Biden? 3AM is when all the geniuses send out press releases isn’t it? Harvard guy and all with the PR wife (can I mention her?)
I.Can’t.Stop.Laughing.
All form and no substance that Obama is.
*teehee*
We could easily turn the tables around.
An ad on Obama — he can’t speak without a teleprompter. Going back and forth with the umms, errrs, uhm to perfect orator with the teleprompter.
In other words, the man can’t talk or communicate without props and crutches. Is this what we want in a leader?
hopin.for.a.change@MyBrothersKeeper.org
Are we to assume all senoirs who don’t need computers should all be stuck in a home somewhere because they are useless???
They are banking everything on the youth vote. Good luck with all that.
Many Obama supporters are stuck in 1968. They’re still wearing tie-die looking for a draft card to burn. 1982 would be a step forward.
Hey, at least they are now trying to attack the top of our ticket for once.
That’s a great idea, BAL. Succintly: “Obama on Teleprompter (shows a scene); Obama off Teleprompter (gotta be a scene from Saddleback)”. Or just use the scene of Obama’s answer to any one of the questions as contrasted with McCain’s to the same question. We report, you decide.
HA!
This is proof that Obama’s campaign staffers rode the short bus to school everyday.
Given that there are many 50+ folks I know who don’t use a computer much, if at all, Obama just insulted the intelligence of a healthy portion of the electorate…you know, the ones who won’t be too stoned or drunk or lazy to get to the polls on election day.
The youth vote? You mean the one that always says they’re excited about their candidate and never show up to vote?
That youth vote?
Ads like this solidify the older voters in the GOP camp.
Also, the nonsense about tax breaks for corporations will, at some point, though certainly not by the far left, will be thought through to its logical conclusion by the middle class. Tax breaks for corporations really means more money and opportunity for you.
Nearly 60% of Americans own stock. Cutting corporate taxes benefits shareholders. If the money is reinvested in the corporation, it is usually done to create growth, which typically means more jobs.
But, no, let’s play class warfare and salary envy games with the people and vilify corporations because we know they never mean to do any beneficial for us. They’re greedy bastards who are preying on each and every one of us who is not a member of the top 2% in income.
There’s a lot to dislike about the GOP, but it isn’t enough to overcome the utter bankruptcy of ideas coming from the Democrats.
Remember, If we really want to allow McCain/Palin to change Washington we need to also give them the soldiers to work with… Congressmen and Senators. I hope McCain/Palin have long coattails.
Well, they just managed to offend the rest of the 65+ set, most of whom have never touched a computer keyboard – and most of whom vote.
If communicating via Internet and text messages were important for a President, I’d rather the President not spend so much time chatting up Scarlett Johansson.
I think most of the older folks could care less if McCain uses email or not. That’s not exactly a burning issue to be concerned with. It’s basically a cheap shot.
A desperate cheap shot.
It would seem so. Gallup released this today.
This “youth vote” hope of his is a longer shot than his handlers think, I agree. My family is primarily Libertarian, with left leanings on most issues. My sis and I are registered Republican (hanging by a thin thread the past three years, admittedly!).
In my family, 3 out of the 4 people under age 25 are voting for McCain/Palin.
They see through Obama’s faux finish.
Given the hatred they direct at Trig Palin because of his disability, I have to say that comment’s a bit tacky.
Rather, this is proof that Obama’s staffers are really out of touch with the portion of America that didn’t grow up inundated with technology, or the portion that prefers to relegate technology to only a corner of our lives, preferring the company of people to machines and video games and text messaging.
By the way, I totally think the argument about McCain’s injuries precluding him from extensive computer use is a valid one. I’m 25, no major injuries (let alone torture) and at the end of a day of typing, I am uncomfortable.
And, if you win the presidency, Mr. McCain, I’d be more than happy to type your e-mails for you. I have an 80wpm typing speed.
Considering the gaffes he’s been making lately, Biden must be starting to rub off on Obama.
hmm…i’d rather have a president who knows fighter jet technology enough to drop a bomb on our enemy than one who prides himself on being able to send email.
Shouldn’t that be hopin.for.spare.change@MyBrothersKeeper.org?
Another big, “Amen” coming your way from me, BAL.
Also, do they really care what the VP candidate thinks about dinosaurs and when they lived on earth? I mean, what the heck does that have to do with keeping Americans safe and our economy strong?
Can’t this be used to show “ageism”, and aren’t older voters a BIG voting block?
If I was a bit older I would be pissed they were making fun of us like that…
Obama wants change and plans to do it on the backs of the elderly….
Obama picks on women, he picks on the elderly… who is next?
I wonder if we can even wire money to him? It’s obvious his own brother doesn’t!
Considering that the majority of web traffic is porn, exactly what is Obama doing online? I have never seen an Obama blog, that he has written. Should we call him “squirt” now?
My bad Walterc, that’s more like it.
With all his talk of taxation, it is clear that Obama still doesn’t understand the economy.
That’s the one.
Ron Rockstar, oh NO you di’int!
Aaarrrggghhh!!!
Blast it, 30…you beat me to it and took my line!!!
Good for you!
Oh yes, Obama’s so very computer-savvy. Remember all those hate blogs at his website that his campaign couldn’t seem to moderate adequately?
A new kind of politics. *snorts* As if.
Speaking of emails … I received one today from the Obama camp
askingbegging for money. It must be bad ad day. This one is just stupid and McCain’s new Hispandering ad is just offensive.
Who cares if he knows how to use a computer? Are any of the functions of the office of President controlled by computers? It’s silly.
And he insulted one of the greatest toys of all time: The Rubik’s Cube. Not cool.
Maybe he just has better things to do with his time? Lots of people waste valuable time online.
And if he needs anything, he has Cindy, his kids, and a lot of assistants to get it for him.
I’m in IT but my husband is rarely online and when he is, he doesn’t waste time with email. My mom is the same way – Dad is retired IT, she’s been around it her entire adult life, but has better things to do.
They all know HOW to email, etc., they CHOOSE not to.
Boy, oh boy, is Obama ever “with it!”
Presidents don’t do email since they are subject to subpoena.
This might explain many of his gaffes…David Axelrod is an “image consultant,” AKA a propagandist, and is not one who is savvy about presidential security.
If the campaign was a baseball game, the Democratic Party manager would be tapping him on the shoulder and telling him to hit the showers. Unfortunately for the Democrats, this is not a baseball game, and nobody is warming up in the bullpen.
It is starting to become apparent that Obama knows that he is likely to lose the election, and wants to go out in a blaze of glory.
Have you ever seen an election campaign before where one party’s nominee for President goes after the other party’s nominee for Vice-President?
(No, Dukakis didn’t go after Dan Qualyle, and Bentsen made a derogatory remark during the 1988 Vice-Presidential debate, but that was about it.)
Obama has become an embarrassment, to his party and to this country.
If Obama gets elected, it will be the first time in my life that I would not be proud of the USA.
I am a 71 year old senior who just in the last year and a half learned about this computer stuff. I can e-mail, google and read MM, Hot air, Ace of Spades and a few others. I’m for sure in the top 10 of worst spellers and correct usage, but I do VOTE, as do lots of my OLD friends who would “never use one of them things”.
I am amazed and thankful for the posts and comments found here, thanks guys! and please bare with me, i’m on your side, I use to think I was one of the few conservatives left, then I found
this place, Bless Michelle and all of you who provide me with the info and facts I can’t get on the tube.

Anybody with photoshop? It would make a great poster.
Yeah… as you can see by my Nick, I happen to share a skill with Sen. McCain.
I’d like to see Obama strap into an F-105 and even try to get it off the ground. If he even got to the point where he could rotate and get airborne, he’d roll it into a smoking hole next to the runway.
I guess the morons at the Obama campaign have no clue what it takes to fly a fighter/attack jet.
Obama…. Truly Clueless.
No, and this is beyond ridiculous. The MSM is basically thinking (more like convinced) that McCain is going to die because of his bouts with cancer.
How about Obama and his smoking? Lung cancer could kill him too (one of the most lethal cancers). And how about Biden’s brain aneurysm? Howcome their health issues aren’t a concern?
Hotair.com has a reply and it’s great.
How many emails does Obama send his half-brothers and sisters?
Hey! Where’s the AARP?
he should have no problem mailing the invitations to his twelve apostles.
opps
I want my president to be typing “LOL” and “OMG” and “WTF.” If he can’t send out joke chain-emails then send him to the pits of hell where he belongs!
The geezer! What is he, Jed Clampett or Mr. Burns from the Simpsons?
/Collectivism off
This ad is a testament to Obama’s juvenile nature and utter stupidity.
Better not to email at all rather than send the devious mail like BO and his gang of arrogant superficials.
The mighty THUD!
I salute you, sir!
Biden: Let’s all click the mouse for him.
I’m a older then 60 military dude and know enough that E-mails are like paper trails(They can be used in court or by the enemies both domestic or foreign of this country)!!!
If I can’t reach someone on a secured line or in person I don’t it !!!

Great to have you, Fuller. We all thought we were the “few” before talk radio, and the internet. We all feel we owe a debt of gratitude to people like Rush and Michelle. If the left has its way, we’ll go back to living in isolation. That’s why we must oppose them at all times.
I’m hoping for some real age outrage. Sadly, we won’t hear it online. We run the risk that the MSM will bury it. Let’s hope some polling data shows a backlash.
I’m trying to picture my mother-in-law, a staunch Democrat, viewing this ad and not being insulted. I can’t.
I am as tech saavy as they come, but there is a movement in corporate America to downplay the use of email and voicemail. It has to do with re-establishing the ability to communicate bi-directionally: to listen as well as to speak, and to do it in real-time instead of a series of one-way missives. It encourages connectiveness.
I’d also like to think that someone at the top of the line whether CEO or Senator or President focuses more on issues and decision-making and less on drafting typewritten summaries of his thoughts on a topic.
OT: Today columnist Deroy Murdock reports the findings of the non-partisan Capitol Hill watchdog group LegiStorm:
Obama’s Senatorial staff
28 fulltime male staffers paid $1,523,120 for an average of $54,397
30 fulltime female staffers paid $1,354,580 for an average of $45,152
McCain’s Senatorial staff
17 fulltime male staffers paid $916,914 for an average of $53,936
25 fulltime female staffers paid $1,396,958 for an average of $55,878
Let’s see how this fits the liberal meme?
McCain has
-fewer staffers
-more females than males
-his payrate for the females is $1.04 for every $1.00 he pays to the males
-pays his males less than Obama
-pays his female staffers $10,726 more than Obama does
So much for all the noise the Dems make about pay equality and EEOC mandates.
Wasn’t it Mr. TechnObamaSavvy whose team didn’t register all the iterations (.org, .biz, .us, .net) of his rumor dispelling site? He got RickRolled by a netclown.
This is the man–and his team of useful idiots–that you want controlling the DoD network? CIA? etc.?
Uh–no.
Childish, desperate and intended to demean older people. The over 55 age group (older, wiser)is a huge portion of the voting public. Keep it up nobama…you’re going down fast!
If McCain doesn’t do email, his campaign is making up for it pretty well. I get messages from McCain/Palin in my Yahoo box all the time.
Also, if McCain is offline, that means he spends more time in the Real World.
Yeah, attack those that aren’t computer savvy.
Like lots of old people.
Who vote.
Yes, this is a tremendous strategy.
Cosmo..you said it
They don’t mean a word they say.
Yep, Clinton didn’t do e-mails but his staff was always hard at work.
Give me a break, these people are so warped they’d take first place in a turd eating contest. Here, I did a little research and found the guy who produced the ad.
Indeed…does anyone remember why George Gallup claimed with out need for stats that FDR was going to clean Alf Langdon’s clock in the 1936 election…?
It was because Gallup’c competitors were doing their polling by telephone when many, many households didn’t have them yet!
swwwoooossshhh
Maybe McCain’s next ad should be, “Obama doesn’t do memorials.” highlighting his “Rose Tossing” performance at ground zero yesterday.
McCain has a staff to do his computer work. And big deal. What do the rest of us do with the computer? Send some emails, read MM on-line (which is great), Drudge, etc. But really, we could live without it. Hey, I think I used to!
I guess he’s already played the Race Card…
How the he77 is McCain going to keep up his myspace page if he can’t even send an email? You can’t create a cult without myspace you know.
I will not feel sorry for that dumb tool Obama,
I will not feel sorry for that dumb tool Obama,
I will not feel sorry for that dumb tool Obama.
There it’s official, I will not feel sorry for that dumb tool Obama.
It’s Killin em and

Image: lets refresh Obama Abortion answer. What a Maroon!
You flew a “Thud,” eh? From what I hear, it was keeping them from making “unscheduled landings” over North Vietnam that won them that unflattering sobriquet. You’ve certainly earned an, “I survived” T-shirt for that service…
As for Hopenchange trying to appeal to the “cool” vote — a.k.a., the “youth” vote — good luck with that. Every election it’s always the same: donkeys fool themselves into thinking that this time, it’ll be different and they’ll turn out in such droves that they’ll make a difference.
And every time, they’re wrong.
But hey, Hopenchange has built his whole campaign on fooling others, so at least he’s being consistent when he fools himself.
The wireless NYT led with a story earlier today about how aides feel Obama needs to get tougher.
So this is how its going to be. McCain doesn’t do email.
Rapid response team is working overtime!
::yawn::
I hark back to the days when I had plenty of time off to relax, work on a few hobbies I had or even take a nap if I wanted one – then I discovered BBS’s back in 1985…
Now that Obama realizes that the MSM who has been over the months fawningly trying to carry him to victory isn’t going to be enough to put him over the top.
He’s desperate. And this is the best he could do?
Next week’s Obummer ad: McCain doesn’t eat arugula. Not elite enough to be President.
Because, you know, he’s “in touch” with the people.
