Lamest Obama ad ever: McCain doesn’t do e-mail!
Scroll for updates…

Obama says he wants to talk about Important Issues.
So, here’s his latest ad attacking McCain.
The serious, deep, important issue?
Obama uses a computer. And John McCain doesn’t.
This is why The World Wants Obama!
***
Obama shouldn’t pat himself on the back so hard for his computer savvy. This is the guy who couldn’t get his massively hyped Magic Text Message on the Biden announcement right.
Reader Norman B. also raises a good point: “What if the reason that McCain doesn’t use the computer is because of his arms? Maybe it is too painful to type because of the torture he experienced in Vietnam.”
***
Allah asks: “If Internet savvy is a basic qualification for leadership in the modern age, how can it be that Billy Jeff — still a major figure in the Democratic Party and the head of an influential global charity — sent exactly two e-mails as president and remains offline to this day?”
A commenter at the liberal TNR blog is shaking his/her head: “I just don’t get the thinking behind it at all. Don’t they realize that there are 83 million Americans in the non-line community? And most of those are probably in downscale households they NEED to turn out? They’re insulting these people! Gratuitously!”
The Obama campaign does have a way of doing that…
***
As strange as it may be to imagine, there are Americans who don’t use email, many who use it rarely, and many who don’t like it. Implying that they are stuck in the ’80s does not seem like a smart move. A lot of these folks are sensitive to being called “out of date” or “out of touch.”
What starts as an attack on John McCain–”he can’t use a computer”–sounds a lot like an attack on everyone who doesn’t. As Allah says, that’s a lot of seniors. But not just seniors. It’s a personal attack on anyone who doesn’t switch on their computers right after they switch on their coffeemakers.
Sure, it squeezes in an attempt at a substantive issue–”he doesn’t understand the economy”–but the gist of the whole ad is that McCain is old and old things aren’t cool. That’s what the shot of the brick cellphone and the rubix cube are all about. But something that Obama obviously didn’t consider is that old people hold grudges, especially when some half-grown dandy spits in their faces.
***
Jonah Goldberg digs up some articles confirming what many readers suspected: McCain doesn’t type because of his war injuries.
He is, however, web savvy and can surf with a mouse.
Ok, now that this Important Issue has been resolved…

Well, at least they haven’t sunk so low as to attack childr….
Oh. Nevermind.
I think it is hilarious that this is the best “attack” ad that this campaign could come up with. I am not even voting Obama/Biden and I could come up with a better message. Was the meeting question, “What’s an idea for an advertisement that could alienate older voters and people that care about older voters?” You know what’s even worse than this ad? It’s that there are people out there who will actually make a decision to vote for Obama based on the computer/email thing alone.
I sometimes wonder if Obama really wants to win this thing. It is never a good idea to attack your opponent in areas where you are weak, or where they can respond effectively.
Witness his attack about McCain’s houses (reminded people of how he got his), comments about Palin’s inexperience (reminded people about his severe lack of same), comments about how Palin was an “affirmative action” choice (reminds people that he may not have earned all the honors at Harvard – but was given them due to his skin color). The list goes on.
What this does demonstrate very clearly is his lack of leadership ability. He has been on the defensive since the convention. He picked a VP that he probably didn’t like, just to appease critics who said he had no foreign policy experience. He had to explain that his lipstick/pig joke wasn’t about Palin. A real leader would be on offense – clearly spelling out his agenda, drawing a clear distinction between himself and McCain – rather than having it on a web page (that is changed often, probably to keep up with the latest polling data).
If this is his idea of leadership, his idea of going on the offense, then it is either a deliberate strategy to lose or incompetence of the highest order.
wow! 300 “advisors” What Brain power!!!
roflmao
It’s Killin em and
I Love it!!!
McCain/Palin 08′
Image: Obama’s advisors picked from Whatsamatta U.
I think it would be good if McCain learned how to access the internet and send email. Heck, I’m no chiphead and even I can do that. But on the other hand, when it comes to having the knowledge, experience and steely-eyed strength during tough times to be president, knowing how to send an email just really doesn’t qualify me, does it? Somehow McCain has it in bucketloads over me in the presidential qualities department.
On the whole, this Obama ad just seems vapid.
Fixed
My Dad is 88, sharp as a tack, very active politically – and doesn’t use email. Does this make him ‘out of touch’ with America? I don’t think so!! Just because I’m computer-literate doesn’t mean everybody is. And some folks simply don’t have the wherewithal to buy one! Go ahead – impune these folks – see how many votes it gets McCain! I can recall the days that I didn’t ‘get it’ on computers, and sometimes I rue the day I found out about them!! They’re addictive, and our President doesn’t need distractions with the world as it is today! The One needs to find substantive issues – like why he’s friends with a known terrorist like Ayers – to discuss, instead of belittling someone who isn’t computer-literate!! Go back to community organizing, BHO!!
It’s just more identity politics. McCain is old, don’t you know? /sarc
Allahpundit is spot on here.
Where are the liberal posters complaining about not talking about real issues now?
Actually – donkeys fool themselves into lots of things. They keep thinking that this iteration of socialism will be different. Never-mind that is has never worked before.
I don’t necessarily disagree. But given the fact a MAJOR plank in their hatred of Sarah Palin has been the fact she had Trig (knowing of his disability), and many (like Bill Maher, who refers to Trig as “it”) think he’s nothing more than a “retard” and a “prop”, I’m a little sensitive toward jokes involving one’s mental capacity.
By the way, did you see a Canadian doctor’s frantic worry that Palin’s choice to have Trig might encourage other women not to abort their Downs (or otherwise disabled) children?
Never mind that upwards of 80% of children diagnosed with Downs are already aborted – it apparently isn’t enough. And, the fact that many prenatal Downs diagnoses tend to turn out, well, wrong…”perfect” children were aborted.
This is scary, scary stuff.
Well that tears it!! I was on the fence before, but golly gee- email illiterate! Obama has two themes- McCain is old and he’s just like Bush. Not working…next…
I’m in Houston so I’m probably going to go through some Michelle Malkin withdrawal symtoms when I lose power due to Hurricane Ike. I’m sure I’ll miss another cutting edge, hard hitting ad from Team Obama! Darn!!
If McCain ever used Windows Vista , he’d probably nuke Redmond, Washington.
I am beginning to feel left out. The hysterical left has their own syndrome – PDS, and I want one of my own. I have decided to have ULAPDS which stands for “Uncontrollable Laughter at Palin Derangement Syndrome”. Now I feel so much better. Do I need therapy?
Let’s see… his lord messiah Obama has alienated women, pig farmers, lipstick manufacturers, and now….
older people and those that do not use computers (many of which are poor people) as being “out of touch.”
Me thinks I see Florida moving out of the toss-up category. How many more groups is The One going to insult?
Rush is right once again… this is the Obama-Biden comedy team… this gets more comical by the day. I’m glad this is only going to last a few more weeks. My sides are really starting to hurt.
I couldn’t care less whether McCain can use the computer; I’m not hiring him to be my secretary. This is the best the Obamessiah crowd can come up with? It’s pretty weak tea.
No slaves? I thought Whoopi said he believed in slavery.
Good job Queen.
This Canuck Frog has a perverted sense of values. Clearly the Canadian Left is terrified that their precious rationed socialized medical system will collapse if they have to care for “retards”. They are your children you piece of crap. You will care for them.
C’mon, Obama’s distracted. He’s busy writing his third autobiography, “I Can’t Believe I Lost to That Guy!”
oh that’s right…the next prez will get a txt message at 3:00 am….
This is a joke, right? I mean, this is the best they can come up with? Please. Somebody tell them…the President of the United States is forbidden from using e-mail for reasons of national security. Duh. My 14-year-old knows that.
New Obummer ad: McCain doesn’t play Halo II. Not Commander in Chief material!
Any bets on when Biden gets dropped? Cancer, heart disease, stress, family issues? Obama is probably wishing he selected his lefty-girl candidate now. Too late for a me too change though. Talk about lipstick on a pig. These guys are floundering like a greyhound in the deep end of the pool.
AJ, how well do you think that ad will play in Florida, with the highest retired population in the US? Or Pennsylvania, with the second highest retired population in the US? last time I checked, Obama thought both of those states were critical “swing” states he needed to win.
This has gone from insulting, to vile, to dishonestly desperate, to downright funny. Are these the 4 stages of mental collapse? Is that why they used to call a mental institution a “Funny Farm”?
McCain had better be ready to stick some more dollars in constructing new insane asylums. We’re gonna need them.
One more day, one more missed opportunity for the Obama campaign. The longer things are drawn out and the public sees how vacuous Obama is, more people are going to abandon him.
Looks like he’s running for junior high class president. The next ad is “John McCain; smelly dumb-head”.
Somewhere out there, Bill and Hillary are having a champagne toast, and they are smiling broadly.
I wonder, if he does drop Biden and ask Clinton (and assuming she accepts) doesn’t that just rev up the Republican base even more? About the only thing I can think of worse than Obama in the White House is Obama there with the Clintons.
What happened to Hillary and the fast-response team of females who were going to save Obama?
Actually, my computers at home are never turned off.
He’s just worried he might not be able to afford a new Mercedes come January.
As for Bill Maher; he’s a drunk with a penchant for black porn stars. What else can you expect from such a clown?
Themes for Obama’s next ad buy:
1. I KNOW you are, but what am I?
2. Liar, Liar, pants on fire!
3. Oh, yeah!
4. Naah-ahh!
5. HE DID IT FIRST!
6. (Fingers in ears) NAA-NAA-NAA-NAA
7. Hey McCain, PULL MY FINGER!
He can’t drop Biden, can he? I mean, wouldn’t that really just show his bad judgement and flip flopping and panic even more? Or is his base so fanatical that they would worship any type of “change”?
alwaysright43 said:, Good Luck with Ike and hope you make it unharmed.
Here is how McCain should answer Obama’s ridicule that McCain can’t use email: “Barack Obama could not survive 6 minutes, let alone 6 years of being a prisoner of war in Communist North VietNam.” Then McCain should ask the audience: “Is there anybody who thinks that Obama could survive six years of torture?”. Is there anybody who thinks that Obama could learn to fly a jet aircraft?”
Then he should say: “Which is a more difficult skill to learn: To fly a jet fighter in the face of SAM Missiles and trained antiaircraft gunners or to learn to use email?” For all practical purposes, Barack Obama insulted all military pilots with his demeaning remarks about McCain.
By the way, Barack Obama does not know how to twitter. Obams is still so behind in his tech skills that he does not even skype. Obama still thinks texting on AOL messenger is the coolest thing? Hey Barack, do you still have your acccount with Compuserve?
Might not want to go there. He’s been married to Michelle for at least that long….
on his head
too late – it’s been done
I don’t think he would drop Biden. If anything, Biden would resign. Or, Biden could conveniently come up with some medical reason and say he can’t take a chance to continue or something.
They would plan this about a week or two before the election, so they could hog up the entire news cycle.
Now THAT would be strategy.
That pretty much nails it. Barack Obama and his campaign is childish and terribly un-presidential. It is aimed at people who wouldn’t vote for a Republican if their lives depended on it, and at the same time they are appearing boorish and insipid to everyone else.
In the meantime, people STILL do not know what qualifies Obama to do ANYTHING as a leader and chief executive of the nation. They still know scant information about who Obama is, and they sense that Obama doesn’t WANT for them to know anything about who he is. Every day, it is becoming obvious to hundreds of thousands of voters that BO has a lot to hide.
I do not see Obama reclaiming any of the voters he’s lost in the past couple of months, and barring massive voter fraud, John McCain and Sarah Palin are going to win in a huge landslide.
Obama’s next ad
Shut Up John – you’re not the boss of me – MOM IS!
You’re familiar?
I’m beginning to think that you’re you’re referring to the wrong part of the ticket who should be dropped.
Okay. Next time it’s all yours.
They probably scripted and produced this ad. You HAVE to know that they will be doing little things here and there to erode Obama’s chances, although they don’t have to do very much. Obama steps in it daily without anyone’s help.
I am shocked that he ever got anywhere in life, let alone becoming a presidential nominee for ANY political party. Nothing about Obama impresses me in any way. To call him an empty suit would be an insult to unworn suits.
Guess Obama’ll just email Putin, “Stop it, stop it now or I’ll flamewar you”
Re: #128….you forgot HE’S LOOKING AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In 1982, McCain went to Congress, and Sarah Palin led her high school basketball team to a state championship.
Barack Obama was doing blow on the streets of Chicago, and Joe Biden was fighting against the Reagan policies that restored the economy and won the first Cold War.
Does Obama really want to go there?
Hmmmm I wonder what ObiWannaBePrez’s screenname is? Or did I just figure it out????
Let’s play the experience game for a minute:
Suppose my company was going to hire a new General Manager. One guy comes in and when he’s asked about experience, he says “community organizer for 5 years”. The question then is – exactly how does that qualify you to run xyz division making widgets?
The next guy comes in and in answer to experience says “Navy commander”. It is pretty obvious which one has more relevant experience to managing.
Who knew “3AM” in Hawaii left one smelling like desperation?
Go Palin! Go Palin! Go Palin!
Don’t count Hillary out until she’s in a pine box with a stake through her heart.
Just what I was thinking. Biden suddenly drops out, in comes Hillary…there goes the election. The MSM would be hyperventilating over that one.
John McCain is a poopy head.
I am Barack Obama and I approved this message.
How bout:
Ta be president aaaaahhhh, uuummmmmm, less see, like I’ve said already, ta, ta, ta…aaaaaaahhhh, uuuuummmmm
I’m Barak Obama and I approved this message.
Three quick things I would like to know as I sit here in San Antonio watching new coverage of IKE and the constant replays of the Obama ad is:
1. What does pictures of McCain from the 80’s have to do with how he dresses and acts today in 2000. Especially the picture of him and President Reagan. In my mind these pictures help reinforce the fact that McCain has more experience than Obama.
2. So what of McCain doesn’t like using a computer? I’m an IT professional and while I will admit I love computers, networks, and technology but at the end of the day I would much rather meet with people in person or talk to them over the phone than exchange e-mails. In my opinion one can lose the closeness and real compassion/understanding that can only come from real in person human interaction.
AND last but not least (and in my opinion most importantly)
3. Why is Obama and crew picking on the Rubik’s Cube? Is it that they don’t have enough brain power to figure one out so they gotta hate on it? I’m a geek and love logic and other brainy puzzles so in my eyes nothings wrong with playing with a Rubik’s Cube in fact it is quite good for at exercising not only the brain but flexibility in the hands and wrists. So, to me by Obama and crew say McCain plays with Rubik’s Cubes, means that McCain is an intelligent person who understand that its important to stay mentally has fun doing it. Also the Rubik’s Cube also offers a physical and often over looked benefit: it helps exercise and maintain flexibility in the fingers and writs. Maintaining joint flexibility is very important, but is probably difficult for McCain with his POW injuries. So using a Rubik’s Cube would provide a good two-in-one activity for McCain.
Ish
And prone not pike…
Two McAmnesty ads today!
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/12/great-news-time-for-another-thinly-veiled-pro-amnesty-ad-from-mccain/
Come on….he’s brilliant….he’s going to save the world….his VP announcement was done by text message…TAKE THAT JOHN MCCAIN!
Just lipstick on a pig!
Obama’s campaign in selfdistruct mode.
OT News alert! Geraldo swept off his feet reporting on Ike. He looks good as a drowned rat.
Noticed a few errors in my previous post.
Most important one was: “means that McCain is an intelligent person who understand that its important to stay mentally has fun doing it.
Should read: “means that McCain is an intelligent person who understand that its important to stay mentally sharp have fun doing it.”
Also today in 2000 should read today in the 2000’s
Ish
Whooooh…I think you are onto something here! The facts are, anything that BO was doing in 1982 is probably so far under wraps and baried that if anyone were to find out what it was, it would destroy him forever. He wouldn’t even be able to win a congressional seat in Chicago.
They show their intolerance for
Race
Gender
Now Age.
The enlightened one and his party are falling apart.
True colors I think.
Sounds like a good sound-bite ad for the McCain campaign.
All it needs is “I am John McCain, and I approve of this ad.”
Yeah. Remember “Vote or die!”?
The young kid at the office mentioned that McCain was computer illiterate. The response he received from everyone he told was “So what?”.
He had nothing else to say.
Managing a wireless store for a major carrier, one of the questions we ask all the customers is if they use email. We do this to sell different features, and maybe home Internet. There are still quite a few people who do not use email and/or barely use it.
But, hey, Barry, keep pushing the really big issues, buuuuuuudy!
The current buzz-phrase that’s been getting under my skin the last couple of weeks is “God forbid.” Refer to the clip from The View for reference. Somewhat valid, but also somewhat offensive by its overkill.
Pajamas Media has a thread a couple of week ago, in which the writer had exactly this dumb premise: “We need a tech-literate president!”
Thankfully, most responded with the basic idea of, “there are ALOT more important and larger issues on which to base selection of a president!”
But THEN, to add a double-heaping of arrogant dissing, Zerobama’s crack team
(OOPS! I didn’t mean THAT kind…
http://www.allaroundphilly.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=20117917&BRD=1675&PAG=461&dept_id=18171&rfi=6
…heh…)
says that you - yeah, YOU, ya dumb*ss stupid voter, you – are too washed up if you don’t use a waterproof AfricanAmericanBerry in the shower every morning.
SHAMING (and insulting, and demeaning) THEM to vote for you…now, why didn’t somebody think of that before…?!
Oh Lordy, what LO*sers.
* [NOTE: The letter "O" has been copyrighted by the Zerobama campaign and may be used only with their express permission]
Ha! I can see that dipstick Germaldo being swept out to sea just to become a “youtube sensation” what a dolt.
I think you folks are really on to something there. I think we can tinker with the ad below to get that message across:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aR3HQTi9bw
Great response ad for McCain:
INT. Shot of McCain sitting behind his desk, he pulls out an Apple Laptop (because its hip) and opens the lid.
Cut to view behind McCain as he opens an Email program and begins to type a message:
“Dear Senator Obama,
I approve this message.
John McCain”
As shown in this ad and by sticking to the issues (/sarc), again, Obama has proven he has no agenda, he doesn’t truly know what the issues are and he hasn’t decided how to frame himself to the public. He has spent all of his time framing what John McCain isn’t, that works in the primaries when you are running against your own kind. Now that we are in the real race, he needs to frame who he is and what he stands for, but he is too busy trying to determine what issues will be ‘popular’ come November 4. Will it be reform? Or will it be economy? What? HopeChangeHopeChange??
Obama keeps trying to frame Mccain and it keeps sliding off as if Mccain is made of teflon (Palin teflon). McCain has successfully proven he is the Maverick who has set out to reform. He is just about completed the task of framing Obama for the voters. If Obama was truly ’staying’ on issues he would have been above the fray and this would have a slid off like he was made of teflon. But, when you have Biden who has been in DC since ‘72, how can you mention that your opponent has been there since ‘82???? Then continue to insult a good portion of the population you are trying to win over?
I think he has just about pulled the rug out from under his own feet. Once again bringing everyone’s attention to the his own weaknesses and once again insulted many with his Snobama arrogance.
I’d like to see one with Sarah taking out her 308 weatherby and blasting a desktop computer.

So McCain doesn’t know how to use a computer. Does Obama know how to fly a jet fighter?
Who exactly is more technically skilled here? Is playing Solitaire on your PC equivalent to managing electromagnetic countermeasures against North Vietnamese surface-to-air missiles while you’re flying a pop-up attack going 400 knots? Is Obama flying his Excel program off a carrier deck? How many people have died when they made a mistake in Word?

Use my computer please, I have vista.
When Alan Greenspan retired in 2006, he said he would now learn how to use email with his new downtime.
Guess its OK if you’re a liberal geezer/puppet/geritol hamster.
You’d think his shrew of a wife would take time out from calling for race riots in the event of an Obamaloss to teach him something….
Andrea is looking more like Joan Rivers these days-
“The reason he doesn’t send email is that he can’t use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong in service to our country. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):
McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.”

Yep. They’ve attacked McCain for being a wounded veteran.
Methinks the hardhitting Obama team should have researched WHY McCain doesn’t use a computer, huh?
That ad also said that John McCain also admits that he doesn’t understand the economy. I suppose that means that Barack Obama thinks he does. If so, I want him removed far, far, away from all of the levers of government.
Nobody understands our economy. Anyone who thinks he should claim to understand it is naiive to the point of dangerousness.
And I’d bet money that she slaps him around. Mean, Aunt Esther, mean!
O_bro@hutpeep.com
At the end bho said he approves this message………someone must have written that for him because I didn’t hear him say uh, uh, uh, uh, etc….. He needs a longer handle for his shovel cause he is digging pretty deep. Hopefully he falls in.
OBAMA HATES HANDICAPPED PEOPLE!!
And the other day Biden asked a wheelchair bound man to stand up, here in Missouri.
Real Smooth!!
I thought bo’s bros e-mail address was bomma_bro@hut_sweet_hut.com
This is yet another example of Bammie following McCain’s lead. The ad (cheaply) mimics those that McCain’s campaign has used against him, down to the font used at the end of the ad saying “we can’t afford more of the same”. Does this fool have an original thought in his head??
Joe Biden: “Go ahead, Maverick, defend yourself. Here, type an e-mail message on my laptop if you like.”

tHIS IS WHY MCCAIN DOESN’T USE A COMPUTER!
SHAME ON OBAMA
Jonah Goldberg over at NRO Online just nailed this. McCain’s torture wounds make it impossible for him to use a keyboard. Nice, Obama!!
Mercy4Me – sorry, should have read your post first!
You do get the sense that the Obama “rapid response” team is just a bunch of snarky 20-somethings who think that torture in VietNam is so last century as to be irrelevant. Go on, children, keep it up!
It probably won’t be, but should be the focus of a rebuttal ad against Obama’s low blow. Yes, the same Obama who was outraged that the McCain took his words out of context and called for the media to back down over his ‘lipstick on a pig remark’. I would like to see the Senator be treated to one solid week of intense scrutiny on his background like Palin has been for the last couple of weeks. I mean a total and all-out barrage of questions over all aspects of his early life, and his and Michelle’s families’ dirty laundry, political ads, talk show jokes and national press over Ayers, Rezko and other areas of his life that he wishes to go unnoticed. Anyone think that the polls would go up for him like they are for McCain and Palin? Obama would implode.
1982 no disco ball. disco died in 1979 & rubik’s cube came out in 1980. I guess the chosen one didnt know this being out of the country for so long.
First they drive away the womans’ vote, now they drive away the senior vote.
I continue to be both amazed and amused by the sheer stupidity of team Obama.
From the Jonah Goldberg article:
Oh, but here’s yet ANOTHER issue for the Obama people to come down on McCain:
Please Lord, let it happen!!!
Because they prefer the guaranteed equality of results, and teacher’s union approval of “The People’s Cube!!!”
BTW, Lincoln wrote his own speeches, but did he ever send a telegram? Did he even KNOW Morse Code? What a backwoods fogey that guy was.
This thread’s supposed to be about lame ads, so let’s talk ads. How about effective ads?
Remember when San Fran Gran Nan couldn’t wait to go on vacation but was told by her smarmy Dim house members that they were getting hammered at home on the energy issue, esp. drilling?
Her response was priceless: Tell them you’re all for drilling and I’ll take the flack when we don’t.
Print, audio and visuals would bombard the airwaves in my kingdom.
Howard “I’m not really dead, I just loook dead” Wolfson was on Cavuto earlier saying that he didn’t believe the new poll that said house races among Rs and Ds were in a statistical dead heat because dems have had momentum the whole season, they have more money on hand and with 30 retiring GOP folks, there’s no way Repubs could defend all those seats.
With Ike (and gas refineries knocked out of commission, I believe Botox’s comments could come back to haunt the DNC in a meaningful way — at the voting booth. People are too P.O.’d about fuel costs and energy dependence not to revolt on this one.
Because of McCain’s injuries at the hands of his Vietcong jailers, he cannot use a keyboard without pain. He has staff to do this.
He may be able to use a blackberry, but why bother, he has able e-staff.
Maybe before firing up the old attack, attack, attack line, Obama campaign would be better to engage their brain, assuming they have one.
