Did you watch “The View” (or rather, “The Spew”) today. I didn’t. I’m trying to watch my blood pressure. Many readers did tune in — and watched in disbelief and disgust as the hysterical liberal women gone wild derided Sarah Palin and grilled John McCain, who made a guest appearance with his wife.
The e-mail is coming in:
Hey Michelle! Did you catch the view today? Seriously who listens to these women? And did you catch Whoopie’s question if she should be concerned about becoming a slave again because John Mcccain would want judges who judge based on the Constitution?! Seriously! She should be ashamed.
Is she trying to portray him a racist?! And if you watch the whole interview watch her facial expressions and posture. She looks like a 14-year-old, slouching, rolling her eyes. Ugh! Like when they were looking at his tape of being set free and he was telling them what he was feeling at the time, she looked like she was so bored. I bet if Obama was there and that was him being set free she would have sat straight up and cried. I really hate this election. I don’t understand why people have to be so nasty to someone they don’t agree with!

I hope either you or the guys over at HotAir can get up some clips of McCain on The View from this morning. Walters, Goldberg, and some of the other were absolutely hysterical. They were rude, interrupted him frequently, asked loaded questions then yelled at him for not answering they way THEY wanted.
McCain was great, took it all in stride. Cindy McCain came on later and was flawless. The contrast between the class of the McCains and the unhinged attacks being thrown face-to-face is very illustrative.

I’m watching The View (why I put myself through this – I don’t know) and the ladies are talking about Sarah Palin’s Charlie Gibson interview. It was their first hot topic of the day.
Their first comments on the interview: “She was obviously very well briefed.” Not that she did a good job, but that she was well briefed. Would anyone in the media say that Obama is well briefed on the issues? Doubtful, they would say he knows the issues. Even if that is not the case!
I’d like to see Joy and Barbara describe the Bush doctrine succinctly. Bill Sammon was on Fox discussing how that term has different meanings to different people, and Gibson should have known that. This show drives me nuts – way to be all for women, ladies.

Whoopi has been a slave for as long as I can remember. When the white liberal masters tell her a black conservative is to be slandered, she doesn’t ask why, she does what de massa say. Then de massa give her a movie deal. No wait – that isn’t slavery – that’s treachery and selling out your own race – and since the Dems are into Biblical allusions, that would make her JUDAS. Whoopi is Judas, and Clarence Thomas would be John the Baptist, crying out in the wilderness of Black American self destruction.
But let’s answer Whoopi’s question. If the written words of the constitution have a limited lifespan, and are to be re-interpreted by judges, “the living, breathing document theory,” then the 13th Amendment banning slavery can be interpreted to mean, ” Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction except for Negroes.” And whoop-de-do, Whoopi is a slave again! That is what Clarence Thomas, and Scalia, and the other conservatives are fighting against. The 13th Amendment is never to be re-interpreted from what is says – NO SLAVERY -NONE – NOT NOW, NOT NOWHERE THE US HAS POWER! The word slavery is fixed, involuntary servitude is fixed, the US can expand but the law remains the same. That’s why we have a written Constitution, so everyone would understand what the law was and what it meant. Traitors like Stevens and his ilk, are shown to be lying when they change the law they swore to defend, and break the meaning of the Constitution. So Whoopi should be scared – there are many people in the Democrat party who would ban freedom of speech, free elections, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, and make her and many others virtual prisoners or slaves in this land of freedom. Already, 4 of 9 Supreme Court Justices, felt that the right to bear arms did not apply to “the people” even though those are the exact words and even when the whole concept of our government is that all freedoms belongs to the people – each and every one of us, freedom of assembly of the people is not just for state governments – it for the individuals. The first amendment also says the government SHALL MAKE NO LAW limiting the free expression of religion. No law means NONE, NONE AT ALL. It atheists like Stevens don’t like it, they (a) may hang themselves at no personal cost, (b) vote to change the law by amending the constitution – and Whoopi that is how we got rid of slavery after 300,000+ white soldiers died for your freedom, (c) go to another country.
I’m going to have to “Biden” that one….

Also, the distinction of Obama doing it the ‘first half’ as if it is somehow conservatives fault that the Democratic primary ran up until almost the last few moments is a bit lame. The fact that Hillary and Barack were going at each other does not mean that now McCain should get an inordinate amount of negative attention more than Obama.
The so-called ladies of the View are ridiculous to many of us that still believe in good sense. Whoopi’s question was shameful. In the past, I’ve occasionally given her some credit for at least being even-tempered and reasonable, but it appears that she’s long past that point.
Sen. McCain is not afraid of tough questions. He’s proposed several town hall and other debates with Sen. Obama. Obama is the one avoiding anything outside of the already scheduled debates.

Actually this clip was pretty tame compared to the clip Glen Beck played on his radio program of Barbara Walters shrilling at McCain to justify his choice of Palin as a VP.

You can also ask which party Martin Luther King was a member of–OH YES HE WAS!!! The “Democratic” Party is the party of slavery, of segregation, and of Jim Crow.
Regarding slavery, the very first legal slave-owner on our shores was a Black man (Anthony Johnson–look it up). Also, slavery was not simply a White-owning-Blacks phenominon, and there were MANY land-owning Black men in the South in the mid-1800’s who were also slave-owners (a higher percentage of free Black men owned slaves than Whites).
So, historically speaking, Whoopie’s fears are entirely unfounded. If people actually knew the facts about American history, then African-Americans would be a solid voting block for the Republican Party.

If anyone knew what the Constitution means, and what it SAYS, then choosing strict interpreters of it OUGHT to be a comfort for silly-minded people like Ms. Goldberg.
I also noticed that they got all in a bunch when McCain said that Roe v. Wade was a bad decision. It is, because the Constitution does not suggest in any way, shape, or form. Also, should this horrible decision be repealed, then all decisions with regard to abortions will go BACK to the states, as the Constitution decrees. Abortion will NOT become banned, as leftist ghouls claim, good law will come from it, and the Constitution’s integrity will be restored.
It’s totally true that black people also owned slaves, and people forget this. I took a whole class in college about free black people in America before the Civil War, and although scholars used to claim that most of the slave-owning free blacks were merely the former slaves who had bought their families, they finally recognized that those people weren’t the majority. Slave-owning free blacks did all the bad things to their slaves that white slave-owners did, from beating them to impregnating multiple female slaves.
Plus, slave ships got a lot of their slaves from Africans who sold them captives from other tribes. Heck, maybe some of Obama’s distant ancestors sold someone into slavery. Unlikely (especially considering his dad is from Kenya, not the west coast), but more likely than McCain wanting to enslave black people, anyway.
Whoopi is playing the race card and the sad part is a few will actually believe John McCain supports slavery based on her question.

Lot of history and Constitution misinformation is being quoted here. The War between the States wasn’t about ending slavery. It was about State rights. Slavery is not a southern misdeed, (slavery started in all 13 colonies under British rule) and ended up an American misdeed. When Federal Soldiers were asked about why they fought the Civil War, they responded about preserving the Union. They stated it was not about slavery until the Abolitionists provided the slavery link to the enemy south. Did you know that Blacks fought and died for the Confederacy. Ya’ll better go back and check those history facts. Oh, I forgot, to the victor goes the spoils and the rewriting of history. Slavery was a stain on the United States and went against everything this country was founded on. It took a war for our forefathers to reject it. Whoopi doesn’t have to worry about being a slave again because of the 13th Amendment.
That’ll only happen if your a registered Democrat.

The Constitution never allowed nor prohibited slavery, the slavery question was left up to the individual states.

I heard the show on radio because I was in transit. Babba WaWa sounded like a rabid dog as she grilled McCain. I would like to see a video of how she treated Obama and how she treated McCain side by side.
Tough questions should be asked but it needs to be a two way street.

The same is true with regard to Obama. When you see what he’s said in his meandering autobios and about his “typical white-person” grandmother, it is obvious that Obama only sees skin color when he is looking at someone else.
It’s true when he looks at himself in the mirror too. He sees a “Black man” when he sees himself, and somehow that is relivant to anything. That sort of pathology is a weakness that can be exploited to his ultimate destruction. People who’s esteem and self-importance are tied solely to their skin color are people who have set themselves up for a HUGE fall.

He was well spoken, eloquent, and honest and he treated his hostesses with absolute respect, even in the face of disagreement.

There are a lot of comments here and this has probably already been said, but the civil war would have happened whether or not there was slavery in America. The first Continental Congress actually set the stage when the more populated, therefore higher represented, states split up the war bills evenly among the states. The smaller populated, agriculture based states of the south had to pay more money than was fair. The northern states played by these rules, fleecing the south for a long time. Slavery was a reason, not the only one, but it was economic and even without slavery the difference in economies caused a lot of tension. The north abolished slaves, it was better to have workers who bought things…the south, mostly farming, it was better to have workers that you did not have to pay or pay very little….(Sound familiar, illegal immigrants)?
Lincoln was very hated among the rich northern liberals. He was accused of starting the war and antagonizing the south…(Sound familiar)? Media crucified him every chance they got.
North Carolina actually did not care much about the slavery thing, they wanted to join the union and acquire weapons to attack South Carolina…they had never forgiven the land owners who paid England to make it two colonies. I’m not saying that the war was a bad thing…slavery needed to end and if war was needed to make people be moral (maybe like the war against islamofascism) than I believe it is justified. But the war would have happened anyway.
