ACORN Watch: The community organizing fraud continues
Barack Obama’s old friends at ACORN have been busy this election cycle.
The McCain campaign had a golden opportunity to bring the left-wing, tax-subsidized con artists to light, but McCain’s already blown it with his effusive praise for Obama’s “outstanding” community organizer record last week at Columbia University.
Anyway, we forge ahead. Hoping the truth will get out there. Hoping that people will change their minds about Obama and his radical Chicago-based racket of election saboteurs and anti-free market thugs. Hoping that someone else in the MSM will start asking pointed questions about the $800,000 Obama failed to report in hidden payments to ACORN under the name of a left-wing non-profit front group.
Meanwhile, in Detroit:
Several municipal clerks across the state are reporting fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications, most of them from a nationwide community activist group working to help low- and moderate-income families.
The majority of the problem applications are coming from the group ACORN, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has a large voter registration program among its many social service programs. ACORN’s Michigan branch, based in Detroit, has enrolled 200,000 voters statewide in recent months, mostly with the use of paid, part-time employees.
“There appears to be a sizeable number of duplicate and fraudulent applications,” said Kelly Chesney, spokeswoman for the Michigan Secretary of State’s Office. “And it appears to be widespread.”
Yeah, duh.

Photoshop: Blind Mule
And in Cleveland:
A national organization that conducts voter registration drives for low-income people has curtailed its push in Cuyahoga County after the Board of Elections accused its workers of submitting fraudulent registration cards.
The board is investigating the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Results of the inquiry could be turned over to the county prosecutor.
Board employees said ACORN workers often handed in the same name on a number of voter registration cards, but showing that person living at different addresses. Other times, cards had the same name listed, but a different date of birth. Still another sign of possible fraud showed a number of people living at an address that turned out to be a restaurant.
“I’m obviously very concerned,” Board Chairman Jeff Hastings said. “This goes to the essence of our democracy.”
Which is why the McCain campaign should be pressing Obama’s longtime ties to ACORN hard.
But they won’t.
John Fund has, though. And he’s updated his book, Stealing Elections, with the goods:
Election 2008 is poised to become worse than the Florida meltdown of 2000 as numerous factors foreshadow a replay of Florida’s court battles and recounts – but this time in more than one state.
In his book, Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy, seasoned columnist and political analyst John Fund reveals voter fraud scandals across the country that threaten to drag Election Day 2008 into Election Month. 10,000 lawyers have been recruited for Election Day ’08, and that’s just on the Democratic side. Voter fraud scandals everywhere from Seattle to Miami have rocked elections in the past several years and many of the problems encountered have not been resolved.
“This will be the first presidential election where the full impact of new federally-mandated provisional ballots will be felt,” said John Fund. “Any person who is not on the voter registration lists this November must be given a provisional ballot, which will be set aside and counted if found valid later. A tug of war over provisional ballots may be inevitable in key states where the margin of victory is no greater than the number of provisional ballots cast. Both campaigns would once again send squadrons of lawyers to any closely contested state to watch and argue as every single provisional ballot in the state is reviewed and a determination is made as to whether it should be counted. Results could once again be delayed for weeks after Election Day.”
Stealing Elections uncovers perhaps the most disturbing reason why this election’s credibility is in jeopardy. The Democratic nominee, Senator Barack Obama, is intimately linked to ACORN, a supposedly non-partisan voter registration organization that has had many of its activists indicted and convicted of voter fraud violations. Senator Obama has been involved with ACORN throughout his career and in turn, ACORN’s political arm has endorsed him while its “non-political arm” is “pledging to spend $35 million this year registering voters— most real but many fictional.”
Stealing Elections reveals shocking truths about how Barack Obama was supported by the notorious Chicago Daley machine that stops at nothing to win elections, how ACORN led “the worst case of voter-registration fraud” in Washington State’s history, and how the 2008 elections are on a collision course to create the perfect storm of controversy as disputed provisional votes, absentee ballots and an army of lawyers disputing results all converge in closely contested states.
Fund’s Stealing Elections reveals exclusive details including:
· Obama’s First Election: How Obama dismissed complaints of vote fraud even in notoriously dodgy Chicago precincts while at the same time owes his first political office to his ability to deploy lawyers and throw every single one of his opponents off the ballot.
· Voter Fraud Nation: Seattle, Detroit, Philadelphia, Cleveland, San Francisco, Miami, Milwaukee, St. Louis and many other cities may be front and center in the news as they seek to overcome past election SNAFUS and voter fraud controversies that if repeated could affect the outcome of the 2008 election.
· Incompetence: From the national level to city hall, voting precincts in many states are ill-prepared to handle the influx of absentee ballots, provisional votes and illegal voter registrations that could overwhelm election systems in many states this November.
Someone send a copy to Team McCain. They could use a clue.

So many actual transgressions to hit Obama on, so little time.
Unfortunately, McCain’s campaign won’t (for some strange reason) actually nail him on this stuff.
Then again, maybe they are waiting until October?
This problem would be eliminated if only the local government could register voters. They can verify ID, address and whether they are alive much easier if they actualy see the voter. Fraud is too easy when any other organization registers voters.
This is paralyzing.
That’s why Joseph Farah has a good column today. Don’t vote for McCain, but write in Sarah Palin. Maybe she’ll actually call for voter registration reform that works.
I would have loved to have seen O’Reilly ask Obama about ACORN during his love fest interview. I know I know Bill got tough but Bill also thought Obama was sincer and believed in what he was doing. I would say so, he believes in winning at all cost, even hurting this country to do so.
Here’s Joe’ column.
I believe the Obama campaign is instrumental in seeing to it that ACORN gets it’s voter fraud work done before the election.
Where in the hell is the justice department on this? These Chicago criminals are attempting to steal the presidential election. The Justice Dept need to follow this slime down it’s rabbit hole. I fully expect that they’ll emerge in Obama’s campaign office.
What I don’t understand is why there has not been a DOJ investigation into this yet?
This is not the ACORN I know.
Team McCain, alas, has done all that it is going to do for Conservatives. Look, as much as we love Sarah, we all know that McCain’s first choice was Lieberman. Even knowing the masterstroke that her selection was going to be, he must have been kicking and screaming against it: “I will never do anything for the base! Never! Never!! Never!!!”
But he did and as far as he is concerned that’s it. He will now be panting after Independent and Liberal votes (the two groups he feels comfortable with) for the remainder of the campaign. So we’re screwed. Am I still voting for Palin-McCain? You bet. But I’m starting to have nightmares about a McCain Administration, should it happen.
Well, I guess Chicago won’t get all the credit for an Obama win.
ACORN will get some of the glory.
WHAT A DISGRACE !
John Kennedy couldn’t win on his own merit either,
he had to have dead people voting early and often for him too.
It is easily understandable why ACORN is not being investigated at the federal level because it is a political organization, and because that investigation would require electronic surveillance of the leadership.
This is, as defined by the democrat party, ’spying on US Citizens’, and is something that must not be done in the US lest we become that dreaded fascist nation.
It would also violate political free speech, and privacy.
Finally, it is not the democrats who are committing crimes, rather the democrats have successfully defined Christians, conservatives, whites, and Republicans as the real criminals.
So the federal government dare not investigate alleged criminal activities at ACORN.
Welcome to George Orwell’s world government of 1984.
Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Chicagoe, St. Louis…Hmmmm…I sense a pattern here.
And this is why Republicans should not be cheered by McCain’s surge in the polls. Remember, pollsters only count each (breathing) person as one vote. Democrats count each Dem (living or dead) as several votes.
RICO.
Well, we have Chicago-style pizza so I guess ACORN is just the Chicago-lization of the old saying “by hook or crook,” when it comes to winning elections for Democrats by fraud.
To quote Obama “enough is enough!” – it is time for the DOJ to investigate ACORN.
identification would end this lying cheating and fraudulent mess. show them your driver’s license or other form of id. forget this idiocy about elderly or poor not being able to vote, oh really, well how do you cash your checks? that is an id and a photo id at that! if we don’t start pushing for identification proof before voting, they will continue to steal these elections.
This is also why a plank in the Democrat Platform is to “…oppose laws that require identification in order to vote or register to vote…” It’s harder to committ fraud if you have to show a photo ID.
When I go to vote, I always show them my driver’s licence, and invariably they always tell me “Oh you don’t have to do that.”, and I always say “But I insist.” They look at me like I have two heads. I wish they insisted upon it for everyone.
One of my primary, and continuing complaints about Bush has been his complete unwillingness to investigate the fraudulent election activity in this country, probably because he’s still defensive about Florida 2000. Of course, he has to deal with a DOJ that is filled to the brim with career liberal activists
Funny how much the press knows about Palin, yet how little they know about Obama. This even includes O Reilly, who seemed a bit star struck to me.
Hugo Chavez playbook, chapter one.
I pray for all corruption to be exposed.
We must insist on honest elections.
In addition to all of the other fraud, I still can’t believe that for the last 20+ years people have had to prove U.S. citizenship for employment with law-abiding companies, but not to vote.
On September 15th, 2008 at 12:41 pm, josetheguerilla said:
And another Chavez (Cesar) created the mantra that Obama translated from Spanish to English:
as i’ve said before, FINGERPRINTS AS I.D. no cost for poor granny, no fraud.
I seem to remember that Chicago voting put John Kennedy (democrat) into the white house in 1960. Many of the “voters” names and addresses were found in local graveyards by a reporter after the election. Maybe these vampire stories are really true–the dead did vote! Some precincts had more votes cast than the number of people in the precinct. The ACORN TRICKS have been in use for a long time.
Here’s a change I would like–valid drivers license or other acceptable photo I.D. required for all voters–just like I have to show my I.D. at Walmart when I pay with a check.
Rocketman
You’ll forgive me, I trust, if I don’t take your advice seriously. After all, if enough people followed it we’d get a Hopenchange victory, and institutionalization of vote-fraud outfits like ACORN — and in which event Sara Palin could afterward call for voter registration from the Alaskan wilderness until she froze to death, for all the good it’d do.
Somebody said, “They can’t cheat unless it’s close.” This election’s not gonna be close. I, for one, am happy that Barry is going to lose in a landslide.
McCain is rightfully scared to death of striking at Obama and his race-hustling cronies because he knows his former pals in the Treason Media will spin it as racism and another attempt by the racist GOP to disenfranchise minorities. With the smear on him, McCain will be toast with independents and it will redound to the Stupid Party in toto.
Remember: A well-told lie will always trump a badly-told truth.
On the other hand, McCain joined in a campaign to kick anyone who had been foreclosed out of a home off the election rolls.
As in other forms of sleaze, the Republicans do it better, more professionally, and with more impact. Nobody thinks ACORN threw an election. But the 2000 Presidential election was thrown by thousands of legal voters being thrown off the rolls illegally in Florida.
Is this moral equivalence? No. The Democrats are nowhere near being equivalent to Republicans.
MSM: “Senator Obama, where do you buy those great looking pants?”
If Obama wins close, I’d contest every major Democratic city. Bore knows he didn’t win in 2000. Yet he is OK perpetuating the myth.
…who were incapable of reading the directions on their ballots.
A ballot that was designed by Democrats!!! Nuff said.
Watching Fox news just 5 min ago Obama thanks the chairman of the “OOTAY” tribe for. . . Uh, that’s pronounced “Yute” (for “UTE”} tribe.
LGM, I lived in Florida in 2000. It was their second votes that were disallowed, not their first ones.
Besides, as someone pointed out a couple comments ago: The entire setup was run by Dems. It’s their own fault they couldn’t get the second and third votes of other Dems counted.
In one of the last elections I had changed addresses. So I showed up at the country registration place and they refused to allow me to change my address so I could vote. I then went to the place I would have voted and inquired of the ‘provisional’ ballot I was entitled to, and was refused. I stood aside and several other people were provided with the provisional ballot. In each case they were asked ‘Which party?’ and only the Democrats were given it. When I approached again with my observation, they gave me some unitelligle answer and still refused me a ballot.
Also, I watched and when the ‘provisional’ ballot Democrats came out, their ballots were not set aside… they were placed into the same box as all the rest.
We currently have a town scandal that is supposedlt being looked into. A couple of council members are winning by the slimmest of margins (Democrats) and this time we have it on the camera where a man tried to stand where he would block the camera, and the candidate herself filled out voting cards on people who had not shown up.
Hopefully they will be ousted. Anyone think they’ll serve jail time? lol
#35 – OOtay?
You’d think the least this moron could do is inquire as to the proper pronunciation of the tribe name!
The only way that Dems know how to win elections these days is to fabricate votes from all disallowed avenues such as the illegal, the ex-con, and the dead.
If you double vote, do you get some badge of honor in the Dem Party?
Hey, lgm, what’s your excuse for the reason thousands of military absentee votes weren’t included in the 2000 presidential election in Florida? You’re such a hypocrite you stink of it.
A.C.O.R.N.M.U.S.T.B.E.S.T.O.P.P.E.D.
Unfortunately, I think it’s likely to be close in a lot of places, particularly in states like Illinois, where a plurality of right-thinking citizens regularly find their will trumped by the big-city socialists sucking at the government teat. Washington State is another one — remember how the King County machine screwed Dino Rossi and handed a victory to Christine Gregoire by a margin of, what, 139 votes? Illinois is probably hopeless, but Michigan may be McCain’s yet — that’s where this report is from, so apparently the local election authorities are resisting the attempted fraud.
I didn’t watch the event, but maybe Arak-bay was using ig-pay atin-lay.
I’ll guess that you’re talking about Macomb county, MI. Even googling the alleged quote from James Carabelli exactly as listed still only pulls up several links of liberal blogs. It’s odd that there are no other sources for this claim that can be verified. Unless, of course, this is a smear rumor that was started and copied without any proof. (But that never happens on the internet!)
I guess if the dKos and Huffington post say it’s true, it must be. Right, lgm?
Your opinion is not objective fact. You seem to be getting the two confused here lately. Repeating this in every post will not make it true, but it does amuse many of us to see your frustration showing. We’ll take your “do it better” line as an admission that Democrats engage in sleaze, even if you believe they are bad at it.
For those too young to remember. Before the 2000 election, the Republican Governor and Secretary of State hired a company to purge voter rolls. This has nothing to do with the “butterfly ballot”.
More than 8000 people (a small number, to be sure) were excluded. If 25% of those tried to vote (2000) and 75% of those voted for Gore (there were almost all black voters), Gore would have carried Florida, even with the other voting problems.
Yes, it’s done anywhere they’re interested in preventing fraudulent voting – and if only 25% of those purged were fraudulent voters, and 75% of them had voted for Gore…….
You have to learn to stop fighting the last war. Even the Germans have learned that much.
Sigh. Lying again. As usual.
So let’s see if I get this straight, LGM:
There was an Independant mayoral candidate in the highly corrupt Miami, who was found to have committed fraud. (Or at least someone in his campaign.)
Next, the state is ordered to purge the dead voters off the rolls.
Mistakes were made by outside contractors. Also, one state official thought maybe we should look at near matches, given that some felons don’t exactly get their names right.
All that = Republicans doing a better job of cheating elections?
Man, you really are out there.
BTW: the dead voters usually vote Democrat.
And I am old enough to remember, you condescending ***.
Already shown to be a lie, but BFD. They’re not living at that address anymore, so they needed to update their registration with their new address as the law requires just like everyone else. It’s no one’s responsibility but your own to make sure your registration is kept accurate, no matter how sob your story.
Organization like ACORN will be the death of our Republic. There will be no transparency, like there is now, in our voting process. Dems are up in arms about voter id laws because their ability to fraudulently obtain votes will be severely compromised. So a good idea that benefits ALL Americans will hurt those poor, poor folks who don’t have proper id to begin with, are illegals, ex-cons, or are DEAD.
Do Americans really want our voting process to mimic those in Africa and South America? Look at Zimbabwe. Instead of having an election, just threaten the opposition with violence and everybody is pressured to vote for Mugabe. Do Americans really want what’s happening in Venezuela and Bolivia to happen to the US? Where one political party (or leader) controls everything, even the voting?
ACORN is troubling to me because it appeals to the very self-serving voter blocs in this country who are very dependent on the federal government and its handouts: blacks, union workers, the poor, etc. It doesn’t take much to sign up to vote but when you have an organization like ACORN just making up votes out of thin air that’s troubling.
Does anybody remember the voter fraud in Alabama where you had many black residents selling their votes for, of all things, crack cocaine? We have a country where many people do not value democracy when they are too lazy or disinterested to vote. That makes America no better than the third world where you have two-bit rulers such as Mugabe or the military junta in Burma (or whatever they’re calling themselves now).
Voting means nothing to many Americans except as a means of manipulating the process by such organizations as ACORN. That’s not what the founders founded this country on or what our military fought and died for. Perhaps, if voter blocs like these black communities actually learned to think for themselves instead of being lead by the nose by ACORN a lot more transparency would be found in the process.
As it is, ACORN doesn’t represent much in terms of the power of the vote.
lgm forgets how many south floridians were found to have voted absentee in new york, then in florida also. i remember that number as being quite high. shades of chicago voters registering in milwaukee also. why is it that only one party democrat cities ever get caught having massive voter fraud? name a republican bastion where this occurs.
I wonder if ACORN is working in Alabama. Some organization is attempting a mass voter registration in the state’s prison system. There has been a temporary halt to it, but I suspect we haven’t heard the last of it.
