Biden: Elect Obama because He’s Black
And so it has come to this. After 20 months of Barack Obama touting his “post-racial” candidacy, after 20 months of disingenuously attacking Republicans as racists for playing up his differences, after a brutal primary fight accusing his chief rival, Hillary Clinton, of race-baiting, here now comes Barack Obama’s running mate telling black voters to vote for Obama because He’s Black.
Must have taken all Joe Biden’s might not to point out that his running mate is also, you know, bright, clean, and articulate.
“Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden, campaigning in North Carolina where black votes could help swing the state to the Democrats, said today that electing a black person to the White House would be transformative.
Biden said the policies of running mate Barack Obama make his presidency even more urgent and declared this to be the most important election that any living person has seen in their lifetime. But he particularly singled out the meaning of electing someone who is black.
“That will be a transformative event in American politics and internationally,” Biden said. “That all by itself will be significant.”
“That all by itself” is all this ticket has going for it.

Sorry to have to say it, but it is true. Biden actually admitted (consciously?) the truth.
With a resume as thin as Obama’s, the lack of accomplishments in the Senate, the frightening associations with racists and terrorists, and the inexplicable adulation (well, except for the whole bias thing), what other reason could there be? Even Biden is more qualified than Obama.
Look at the articles on how blacks are expected (taken for granted?) to vote for him. As Democrats, most would have voted for any Dem (although they get little for it) anyway, but now, you are an implied racist if you don’t, black or white.
If the Democrats wanted a black candidate to energize their campaign, couldn’t they have found one that has actually done something substantial? Community organizer? One crummy speech at the last DNC convention? Two elections that he “won” by default or deception? Recycled Carteresque economic policies? 138 “PRESENT” votes (is this judgment, or just gutless?).
His most significant qualification is being the most leftwing senator in existence!
Let’s face it, Obama is the affirmative action candidate, with all that implies. I said it, call me what you will, but the facts don’t lie.
And the Democrats have the utter gall to claim that Palin was picked solely because she is a woman, and liberal women keep popping up saying “we aren’t that stupid,” but they tacitly imply that blacks are by expecting their votes simply because they are black.
If I voted for McCain simply because he was white, I would justifiably be called a racist. Why is it a one way street?
If you are voting for Obama simply because he is black (or half black to be precise) then you are a racist, pure and simple.

Biden has said lots stupid things and done lots of foolish things. I notice that nobody in the MSM will ask Biden about a New York Times article on Jan 23, 1982 and another on Jan. 24, 1982. Those articles describe how Biden verbally blasted Prime Minister Begin and lectured Begin about Begin’s moral failings. According to the articles, Biden was demanding of Begin: “Look aound this room and tell me if Israel has many friends….” Biden’s treatment of a foreign head of state who was deomocratically elected was so obnoxious that Daniel Patrick Moynihan congratulated Begin on responding forcefully to Biden. Can anyone imagine the MSM spiking a new story about Sarah Palin lecturing and bullying a foreign head of state? Charlie Gibson would be apoplectic if Governor Palin did such a thing.
I’ve said it before and it still rings true. This is no longer about democracy. It’s about a government takeover at any cost by socialists party. They will say and do anything to win and if they do God help us. Race, sex, religion and everything inbetween will be used to take over our government and if it means inciting a race war so be it. The socialist liberal democrats will not stop until they have all the power or the country is left in ashes. They will take either.
This whole approach is highly disturbing. The Obama campaign is planting the divisive notion that an Obama loss will be the direct result of racism.
These tactics remind me of the elections in Kenya and other third world countries where “liberation theology” has a strong foothold. The losing party reaps the seeds of hatred sewn during the campaign in an effort to foment violent protest in the event of a loss. That violent protest is then used as a catalyst to extract a “power sharing” arrangement with the prevailing party.
Up until recently, I had dismissed the whispered concerns regarding the social upheaval associated with an Obama loss. With Obama’s continued injection of race into this election, perhaps those concerns should not be taken lightly.
Conservatives choose to judge a person by the content of their character and not the color of their skin (someone famous had a dream about that once). It appears as if the Democrats have gotten that mixed up a bit. Let’s see — the character of McCain versus the character of Obama – judged and decided.

With all due respect to everyone on this thread, I agree with Biden. What other reason could there possibly be to vote for him other than he is black? He doesn’t actually stand for anything, can’t prove he has actually done anything, and doesn’t have any real issues he can explain that anyone would actually try to sell.

As for people who haven’t already sold their souls to the New Messiah, over on the Powerline blog they make a good observation that much of Hopenchange’s appeal relies on the “bandwagon effect.” That is, many who are inclined to vote for him are probably influenced by the until-recent conventional wisdom that he’s already the President-In-Waiting.
If the same people come to think he’s toast, the “why bother” effect will probably keep many of them home.

I was even kind of excited about it. Even as late as Feb. I thought that his campaign was exciting and thought I might even be able to vote for him.
Of course, the truth has come out since then and there’s no way in hell I would vote for him. But, the truth is, at first I was jazzed that this black guy could be elected. I thought it would be good for us.

My sister was giving me the same line. About how we had to elect Obama because it would lead to racial reconciliation and be transformative to how we are seen in the World, etc, etc.
I asked her who she backed in the primaries. She backed Hillary.

First of all Obama as others have pointed out is not Black. If being black was not an advantage he would not be calling himself black. Instead he would be saying that he is biracial (and actually help resolve the racial divide).
Its these 375 paid staff members that concerns me. Patronage is the fuel that makes the Chicago Democratic Machine operate. How many of these people are promised federal jobs if Obama wins? How many get those plum “green jobs”? If we don’t see this scam coming, we deserve what we get.

I don’t understand why the Obama / Biden campaign plays the “black” card–they already have over 90% of this group voting for their candidate. They need to appeal to the 10% of undecided voters to tip the electoral college vote in their favor. I don’t think they understand the math–they keep shooting themselves in the feet.
As far as white presidents and white candidates being “black”–we already saw what the black voters thought about that approach–it worked so well for Hillary in the primary!
If white people voted like the black people are–it would be 80% for McCain / Palin in the general election. Draw your own conclusions as to who the racists are–they come in all color, ethnic, and national groups.

tells it all. From how ‘whites’ voted in the last few electrions to how whites will be voting this time.
Funny thing is, I don’t remember pulling a lever marked ‘White’ when I last voted. I didn’t see one for ‘Black’, ‘Brown’, ‘Hispanic’, ‘Oriental’, ‘Female’, ‘Gay’, ‘Straight’, or ‘Election Chad impaired’ – so how do we really know what ‘color’ voted for whom?
This article goes on for several hundred words full of conjecture and little substance. This is the tip of the iceberg – trying to guilt non-black voters into voting for Obama to asuage their perceived racist ways.
That’s at least twice he’s done that. Between this statement and his “Hillary might have been a better choice” comment his honesty is astounding.
I really can not believe he said that. This is racism, pure and simple by democrats.
My democrat neighbors are all voting for McCain. They say Obama frightens them. I suspect many of the blacks will also vote for McCain even if they won’t admit it right now!
Biden is a chump who credits his senatorial career to his close friendship with labor. Just because Obummer’s black, doesn’t mean he’ll make a good president. If anything, you have a politician who talks down to many people across the country, who calls those who don’t agree with him as racists, and this is the person who should lead America?
The only people who appreciate the kinds of sentiments that Biden expresses are liberals and blacks.
Yeah, I think outside of the mostly already-owned black voting bloc and white liberals who feel guilty about slavery, this doesn’t resonate much with average American voters. I would expect being told they should vote for a candidate because the candidate is of a racial/ethic group has just the opposite of the intended effect.

This is ridiculous for many reasons. I’ll only point out a few.
1. African Americans typically vote Democratic. Many of the black folks voting for Obama likely agree with his policies too.
2. Alan Keyes -if black folks voted based on color alone shouldn’t he have done just as well with black voters as Obama did in the primaries? (If you want to know why he didn’t, see point #1)
3. What’s wrong with voting for someone you identify with? I’ve seen “I am Sarah Palin” shirts. I don’t see any talk of those women being sexist.
I know you have ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome), but common, you can do better than throwing out some non-PC rant based on anecdotal evidence and pretending it’s enlightening.
Biden’s argument here is that black folks should vote for Obama because he’s black. Last I heard, voting for someone due to his/her race is racism. And I’d say that is wrong.
What Obama is doing with this plea is no different than the KKK telling white folks to favor someone because the person is white.
The really scary thing to liberals has GOT to be knowledge that a huge contingent within their own ranks are stinking lying racist white people who are out there waving banners and polling in the affirmative for BHO while the camera is watching them, (or their union bosses etc) – but will vote for McCain once they are behind a polling booth curtain simply because he’s the white guy. It’s just sooooo sad that there are people who would actually do something like huh ?…… :0
