Race traitor card-playing e-mail of the day

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 15, 2008 04:25 PM

A race-obsessed journalist who works for Pacifica Radio tells me how I’m supposed to think, act, and write. “Don’t forget you’re brown,” she scolds.

Oh, thanks for reminding me, sister. I know you and “your people” won’t let me forget that skin color is supposed to dictate ideology. I’ve been hearing it for 20 years.

i’ve read your stories throughout the years.

and i have to say, from one pinay journalist to another, you embarrass me and you embarrass our people.

i’m sorry the US media has used you, larry elders and other conservative drones of color to bolster their quota numbers.

what we need are more conscious journalists of color, not just another mainstream token acting as a cheerleader for the conservative right.

hopefully someday, you will find genuine connections with others and see how much damage you have done with your recklessly crafted pieces.

Okay, I was being facetious with the “typical white person” thing there, dude. Sorry if that didn’t come across.

First, there is really no such thing as “Asian.” And there is no single “color” that you can associate with “Asian.”

Ironically, they have “skin bleaching” salons all over Manila so people can lighten their skin in exactly the same way we have “tanning salons” here where some try to darken their skin.

And I know more than one Filipina who has had cosmetic surgery to make her eyes rounder rather than almond shaped.

    Go figure.

As a “typical white person” I just find it curious that some people call Asians brown. Apparently, then, anyone who is not white is brown?

Clearly you have missed the point.

Of course, white people have different “feelings.” Good white people are liberals who are no longer racists.

Bad white people are conservatives who are bloodthirsty racists intent on enslaving the world.

People of color cannot be racists so they must all think alike.

    Is that more clear now?

Filipinos have been referred to as such, and have referred to themselves as such, for quite a long time.

I know Filipinos that consider themselves Asians, and others (like my girlfriend) who consider themselves “Pacific Islander.” The Census Bureau of the Federal Government falls into the Asian camp. In fact, my girlfriend (a conservative I might add) has actually said “I’m not yellow, I’m brown.”

That’s the problem with the big encompassing general racial categories – and the vague tribalism of the left – specific cultural attributes tend to be overlooked in favor of categories of perceived “discrimination.” Various cultures tend to get lumped together to promote the concept of victimhood – ignoring the in the process the actual uniqueness and beauty of individuals and cultures.

While it’s sad, very sad, that you have embarassed Albano’s crowd, on the other hand our crowd is pretty damned well pleased with you. And no, it’s not just because you’re hot babe. That would be Shallow, Sexist, and Wrong and, of course, we’re above such bias, far above it. I’m a little offended that anyone would even think such a thing. We’re just glad to see the conservative positions so forthrightly advocated. Hotness doesn’t enter in.

If Sarah Palin teaches us anything, it’s that you know you are cutting to the lefty quick when the nutcases come out of the woodwork and start spitting their venom at you. Think how alarming it would be if a race-baiting boob like Leilani Albano sent you a fan letter on Pacifica Radio stationery! You’d know you’d done something wrong then. You should sleep well tonight knowing that you are agitating the agitators who want all their pundits color-coded and kept in their politically-correct lanes.

I’m also wondering how many generations distance from your ancestral country of origin does it take for racist buffoons like Albano to consider you American? When does a pinay or pinoy become a Yankee? I’m thinking the moment they get off the boat. In fact, there are many people around the world who are American in everything but geography.

When Albano attempts to pigeonhole people by ethnic groups, she is advocating an inferior form of social organization, the kind of kinship based on race, religion, and clan that is beneath the American ideal of government devoted only to the protection of individual life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Albano would prefer a more Neanderthal culture, as backward as the Wahhabis.

Michelle, baby, go forth with a happy heart knowing that you are ticking off all the right people.

I want Albano to answer one question. If democrats care so much about racial minorities, then why do you keep them economically oppressed? Democrats have ruled over racial minority enclaves for decades with no economic opportunity, while the democratic politicians get rich and powerful.

What Albano and other professional multiculturalists advocate is in fact cultural apartheid. True multiculturalism was once known as the “melting pot,” in which immigrants and their children Americanized the best features of the culture they brought with them or inherited. Thus, when Michelle got her son to sing “I’m Proud To Be an American,” she was transmitting a tradition from the Philippines in which children who are old enough to talk should be old enough to sing. And we all love her for doing that and making that tradition American. One of these days, God willing, lumpia will become as American as pizza or bagels and lox.

Ok, I’ll assume you’re serious and mean well. I think everyone has some sort of self-identity that gets shaped by their family and friends and so on. Here in Hawaii where there are many Asians, you’ll also find many ways people identify themselves. Filipinos and Filipinas might think of themselves as brown (or not), those from Japan and China and Korea might think “yellow” a stupid stereotype – unless you know them well, then they may themselves joke about it, but probably do not think of themselves as brown. Best to treat people as individuals and not try and classify them. Rest assured, if “do you see yourself as a brown person” comes out of your mouth when you first meet them, the look on their face will be one you’ve probably never seen before.

My “dear self-hating brown person” note above is my standard opening any time Michelle gets one of these ridiculous emails, and I don’t think she’s offended, I hope she laughs.

What if you have little birthmarks? Moles that develop over familiar freckles to provide a contrast? Will I be embraced by my local dermatologist?

I’m just spitballing here, but it seems that once again the green-eyed monster has reared it’s, in this case, pinay head: I hate you, Michelle, because you’ve accomplished so much more than me in relatively the same amount of time, or some such thing.

Or: I realize now that I’m on a dead-end pinay road here and my degree is pretty much useless unless I go to work for, like, maybe, the UN or something, but as you can see by my attitude, grammar and writing abilities, that’s much to smart for me. Bummer!

Isn’t it odd that no one who’s in concert with Michelle’s views cares one way or another what her, or anyone’s, skin color is, yet the GOP is painted as the party of bigots. The only problem race causes for me is when people identify with their skin color rather than the content of their character and then try to make that identification my problem. Let me just echo what Colin Powell said in a previous incarnation, that someone else’s racism isn’t his problem, it’s their problem. Don’t try to make your problem my problem. I won’t go there. What is so remarkable is how unimportant skin color is – just solar UV protection. Look under the skin and race just doesn’t matter. What I want counted at the State Department is how many honest, decent, loyal, hardworking, and effective employees they have – they can all be black, asian, hispanic. I don’t care about color – Reverend Martin Luther King had it right – character not color.
Race quotas are all about corruption – using race in order to put money in the hands of your pals, who in turn give some back. That’s why people get so bent out of shape about race – its all about getting money they didn’t have to work for.

Since the name isn’t ringing any bells right now – sure, why the heck not.

Of course, along with the lefse y’all would get a BIG helping of Lutefisk. (That should stop anyone from barging in for food!!!)

To clue you in, just in case the dish is new to you, here’s a snippet from one “review” of some poor unwary soul’s encounter with the culinary delight:

“The moment every traveller lives for is the native dinner where, throwing caution to the wind and plunging into a local delicacy which ought by rights to be disgusting, one discovers that it is not only delicious but that it also contradicts a previously held prejudice about food, that it expands ones culinary horizons to include surprising new smells, tastes, and textures.

Lutefisk is not such a dish.

Lutefisk is instead pretty much what you’d expect of jellied cod; it is a foul and odiferous goo, whose gelatinous texture and rancid oily taste are locked in spirited competition to see which can be the more responsible for rendering the whole completely inedble.

How to describe that first bite? Its a bit like describing passing a kidneystone to the uninitiated.”
