Oh and while you’re at it give your buddy Bill Ayers, my regards. I have no problem protecting the very flag he was stomping on.

    Dear Mr. Obama:

John McCain does not like to sit at a computer because of the repetitive stress it places on his upper body. He can’t tolerate that stress because he was TORTURED for years in captivity by our enemy. Did you not know that his arms and fingers were broken? You are a shameless, sorry excuse for a politician. I am simply flabbergasted that the democrats would put up someone with your character (or lack of it) on the top of their national ticket. Mind-blowing!

By the way, Senator McCain can fly airplanes. That’s pretty technical. Can you do that?

And one last interesting point, it’s been widely reported that your new best friend, President Clinton, only sent two email messages during his presidency. But we all know he’s your man now…trying desperately to save your pathetic campaign.

Again, you should be ashamed of yourself.

That’s what I sent. I had to tone it down a bit before I sent it. GRRRR!

Like Sen. McCain, I understand that politics ain’t beanbag. Negative ads are part of the business. In fact, as a former political consultant, I used to run them myself.

There’s a difference between hard hitting perhaps unfair ads that are true (like this one) and ones that are outright 100% fabrication (Obama and sex education).

But I can’t imagine any circumstances under which I would have ever run an ad attacking a war hero for the injuries he suffered at the hands of North Vietnamese prison guards.

The POW defense. Is that the reason he lies about his tax plans? Is it the reason he approves lying ad after lying smearing ad?

The reason Sen. McCain “can’t send an email” is because he had his bones broken and fingers crushed by war criminals who tortured him during his service to our nation as a Navy pilot.

If this were true, the McCain campaign would have said so “in a nanosecond”. If McCain can hold a pencil, he can type an email.

Why hasn’t McCain come out with a full bore response to the Technology ad?

Scene, the cockpit of an A4 attack jet, shifts to images of a busy Committee hearing and various high tech innovations, ending with FDR’s chair.

McCain: This used to be my office. Now I’m in the Senate where for 6 years I chaired the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. These days I serve on several subcommittees including the sub-committee on Science, Technology and Innovation. I serve on the Committee on Indian Affairs. Also I serve on the Armed Services Committee as the senior Republican I serve on all the sub committees. Obviously we deal with highly sophisticated and sensitive emerging technologies to ensure that only the best is found and developed to strengthen our nation. These Committees are all pretty busy and we try to get good work done in a bi-partisan manner. I should note that my opponent Mr. Obama also is chair of a sub-committee, responsible for overseeing our relations with an important part of the world but under his watch they have held no hearings at all.

It is true however that I do not spend a lot of time surfing the internet or typing on a keyboard. That need not be of concern I would think since the President, as a matter of security, does not use personal email or surf the internet. We hire people to do that for the President. More important is that I do not like to use a keyboard since I was tortured while a prisoner of war. I did not see before why it should be an issue any more than it was an issue when Franklin Roosevelt was President while confined to a wheel chair.

    Senator Obama,

I am writing in regards to your ad depicting Senator McCain as unable to use a computer or email. This ad is despicable as it is an affront to all disabled people and especially disabled veterans, such as I. Research has uncovered a 2000 Boston Globe article that states,

“McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes.”

Here is a link to the article in question: http://graphics.boston.com/news/politics/campaign2000/news/McCain_character_loyal_to_a_fault+.shtml

This proves that Senator McCain’s disabilities, which he suffers from due to injuries inflicted on him during his time as a POW, prevent him from using a computer; yet you have chosen to attack him on these grounds. I am requesting that you take the ad off the air and that you publicly apologize to Senator McCain and to all disabled peoples as this is uncalled for even in politics. I take this attack as either a lack caring about attacking a man who served our nation honorably or that your campaign shirked the responsibility in doing the research, that I and many others where able to do in minutes, to uncover this news article.

I have sent a copy of this letter to the VFW, American Association of People with Disabilities(AAPD), the NY Times, LA Times, Fox News and Michelle Malkin. I hope you choose to do the right thing and apologize for this tasteless act against disabled people.

    Thank you for your time,

    Matthew Fritch (Disabled Army Veteran)

“Obama said. ‘If they ask a teacher ‘where do babies come from,’ that providing information that the fact is that it’s not a stork is probably not an unhealthy thing.”

Good letter, soldier. The only suggestion I’d add is to cite ABC’s Jake Tapper’s article as a good alternative reference:

Why Doesn’t McCain Use a Computer?

    From the article:

“Assuredly McCain isn’t comfortable talking about this — and the McCain campaign discouraged me from writing about this — but the reason the aged Arizonan doesn’t use a computer or send email is because of his war wounds.

I realize some of the nastier liberals in the blogosphere will see this as McCain once again “playing the POW card,” but it’s simply a fact: typing on a regular keyboard for any sustained period of time bothers McCain physically.

He can type, he occasionally does type, but in general the injuries he sustained as a POW — ones that make it impossible for him to raise his arms high enough to comb his hair — mean that small tasks make his shoulders ache, so he tries to avoid any repetitive exercise.

Again, it’s not that he can’t type, he just by habit avoids when he can repetitive exercise involving his arms. He does if he has to, as with handshaking or autographs.

It’s certainly possible that the Obama campaign did not know this, since McCain makes it sound in interviews as if this is a matter of choice, not discomfort because of his war wounds.

“I read my e-mails, but I don’t write any,” McCain told Fortune Magazine in 2006. “I’m a Neanderthal - I don’t even type. I do have rudimentary capabilities to call up some websites, like the New York Times online, that sort of stuff. No laptop. No PalmPilot. I prefer my schedule on notecards, which I keep in my jacket pocket.”

Given the collectivist nature of Obama, Biden, and the democrats, this should be a walk in the park… there are plenty of speeches in which Obama derides the individual and hails the collective - and pretty much uses those words.

A good campaigner could smash Obama into a pulp in five days flat, if they really got into what Obama stands for.

Instead it’s all about having a “civil” campaign.

I think the McCain campaign has done some great hard hitiing ads, but I agree they need to learn how to use the media instead of the media using them.

They should take a page out of the Reagan playbook on how to play the media to their best advantage. If the media doesn’t play nice, you go over it’s head to the people using ads, “plain talk”, the amazing Palin, talk radio/friendly media, etc and wait let the debates just be topping on the cake. When you got the lead you can make some rules of your own, you don’t have to play by the media’s.

The ones who have little or no core values. I’ll even go so far as to say lgm has a core value (although I disagree with it 100%). His is if it’s conservative, he’s against it. At least it’s a core value. The people who are targeted now are those who couldn’t tell the difference between up and down, right and wrong, life and death. Consequently, the campaign has to do all sorts of contortions to somehow appeal to these mindless ones.

I forgot you won’t be able to read this but maybe someone will help you and you will see it. Cheers.

This is a good idea, however, speaking from experience is if you send an email to the Obama campaign, you will be on their mailing and begging-for-dollars list forever. After ignoring my requests to be removed, I finally had their email tagged as spam.

I’m calling BS on this one. Quadriplegics can send emails. Silly premise.

At the risk of sounding insensitive here, but there is a difference. Someone who is paralyzed (be they quadriplegics or paraplegics) have - by the very definition of that condition - greatly diminished/non-existent nerve capabilities. In other words, they cannot move and they cannot feel because nerves are greatly damaged or destroyed.

Now, I’m not in any way saying that’s preferable to McCain’s injuries. But it’s obvious to me (who has many family members with severe arthritis and other muscle-skeletal ailments) that McCain probably has to deal with pain and does what he can to minimize activity that increases the pain.

Which is a perfectly sensible approach.

By the larger issue here is the real face of Obama being revealed. Not the stately, well-spoken politician – but a petty, vindictive, cheap-shot taker with thin skin and a temper.

Whether McCain sends 1 e-mail a day or 50, it is a non-issue in the debate. By the way, Bill Clinton sent something like 1 e-mail while President. Was he unfit for office?

    Dear Obummer,

Your campaign really sucks. Are you really about new ideas or old liberal ones repackaged with your face on them? Your misleading attacks may appeal to those who can’t think for themselves but to those of us who value truth and actual dialogue, you seem to be playing the same old Washington politics as usual gambit.

To attack a person who actually served his country in a substantive way is absurd. You say you have respect for McCain’s “service” but you don’t show it. Well, that really seems to indicate your leadership “qualities” for those in our military.

This military spouse doesn’t buy it. Try again.

    Dear Sen. Obama,

I’d like to echo the sentiments below… fact is, I cannot. See, it’s not just the disdain for the elderly (which, I’m sure, was your intent - something to the effect of “McCain isn’t ‘cool’ because he didn’t announce his running mate by text message but ~I~ did!”) or disrespect of his military service (as we saw during your recent trip ’round the world when you skipped out on visiting service men and women in the hospital - preferring a trip to the gym, I think…); no, I think the author gives you too much credit. Probably you did ~not~ know about Maverick’s injuries. Likely you were too focused on how nifty it is to be the young stud on the ticket. Just another of many gaffes which will go under reported.

Thanks - but no thanks. I’m voting the responsible ticket: McCain/Palin.

    Sincerely,

I just finished watching your latest attempt to “change the tone in Washington”—your ad attacking John McCain because he “can’t send an email.”

Like Sen. McCain, I understand that politics ain’t beanbag. Negative ads are part of the business. In fact, as a former political consultant, I used to run them myself.

Yup, EQ1, we’re talking basic common sense here. It’s like the old comedy bit goes:

    Patient:
“Doctor, it hurts when I do this.”

    Doctor:
    “Well, then don’t do that.”

Sadly, Obama may be correct. I don’t know if Sen. McCain or his staff can send an e-mail or even a snail mail for that matter. I have e-mailed and snail mailed the Senator’s campaign at least 30 times in the last couple of months to express my concern about his silence on the subject of Comprehensive Immigration Reform amnesty for undocumented migrant workers illegal aliens. To date, I have received no response. By the way, the same can be said of my e-mails and snail mails on this subject to Sen. Obama.

There’s a difference between hard hitting perhaps unfair ads that are true (like this one) and ones that are outright 100% fabrication (Obama and sex education).

Wow, you really tap dance here! Dem: “hard hitting perhaps unfair” to Repub: “outright 100% fabrication.”

Are you outright 100% blind to your own ridiculously blatant bias? No, I didn’t think so.

From the Tapper interview in purplepeep’s post #25:

I realize some of the nastier liberals in the blogosphere will see this as McCain once again “playing the POW card,” but it’s simply a fact: typing on a regular keyboard for any sustained period of time bothers McCain physically.

Ball’s in your court, lgm! Ohhh! It looks like it just hit you smack in the head! What a shame! Even other liberals see you for what you are.
