Warning: Do not send your kids to Connecticut College…

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 16, 2008 05:17 AM

…or they could end up writing and thinking like this.

Cliff Notes’ version of Connecticut College history department chair Catherine McNicol Stock’s supremely silly op-ed:

Sarah Palin is from the Pacific Northwest.

White supremacists live in the Pacific Northwest.

Connect the dots!

Read the whole piece and then check out the professor’s official bio. She’s got three degrees from Yale.

Egad. Cross that one off the list, too.

Good link on this site yesterday that takes you to an article that discusses population density, cost of land and ability to support a family. In a place like Alaska (in general), a PhD in Rural Radicalism is much less valuable than a job with an oil company. The PhD would make less money and be less able to support a family. Trust fund babies can afford a Master’s in Asian American Studies in a way that working people’s children cannot.

Stock’s “reasoning” is powerfully reminiscent of the “witch” scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail:

BEDEMIR: Quiet, quiet. Quiet! There are ways of telling whether she is a witch. Tell me, what do you do with witches?
    CROWD: Burn, burn them up!
BEDEMIR: And what do you burn apart from witches?
    VILLAGER #1: More witches!
    VILLAGER #2: Wood!
BEDEMIR: So, why do witches burn?
    [pause]
    VILLAGER #3: B–… ’cause they’re made of wood…?
    BEDEMIR: Good!
    CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah…
BEDEMIR: So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her!
BEDEMIR: Aah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?
    VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEMIR: Does wood sink in water?
    VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the pond!
    CROWD: The pond!
BEDEMIR: What also floats in water?
    VILLAGER #1: Bread!
    VILLAGER #2: Apples!
    VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
    ARTHUR: A duck.
    CROWD: Oooh.
    BEDEMIR: Exactly! So, logically…,
VILLAGER #1: If… she.. weighs the same as a duck, she’s made of wood.
    BEDEMIR: And therefore–?
    CROWD: A witch! A witch!

The only difference is, Monty Python was trying to be funny in its exploration of pretzel-logic. Stock is serious in her pursuit of the “witch” Palin.

The “larger thought” by Rev. Wright that you espouse was that the “US of KKK A”, as he so gently puts it, is evil and is the cause of all of the suffering in the world. Hence the “God Da_n America” comment.

The “larger thought” is just as vile, if not more than the “God Da_n America” quote that you so weakly try to defend. If you have read the transcripts of this racist hate-mongers sermons, you would see that this comment is just the tip of a very large and disturbing iceberg.

I guess you are that idiotic after all.

Exactly. Thanks for pointing this out. I’d love to put a McCain sticker on my car, or lawn sign, but I’m afraid of the Portland-area “witchhunt.” I’m even wary of adding the McCain/Palin group to my Facebook - I work for a very liberal company and I don’t want to jeopardize my job.

A no name college with a no name professor. Sounds like a place where lgm teaches.

Colleges are the last vestige where someone can study the most convoluted area of thought (rural radicalism) and call it serious work. This kind of reminds me of Obummer’s mother going native and really going “after” her work as a cultural anthropologist studying rural villagers in Indonesia.

If I had to do it over again, I probably would not have chosen history. I love history but it’s been hijacked by left-wing ideologues for the past 30-40 years so that they can “rewrite” American history into some kind of portrayal about “the man” abusing “the minority” or “the woman.”

If students aren’t taught to be open-minded in the first place then they will be tools for liberals’ future plans. That’s why I’m so disenchanted when I hear people like mj criticize me for not going off on Pres. Bush because it’s my responsibility to teach the Bush Doctrine to impressionable youths. That’s not what I signed on as a teacher.

Elites like this professor look down on “regular folk.” They think that their positiond enable them to lecture people on how to think and live their lives. Look no further than my hometown of Ithaca, NY where you hardly ever see professors mingle with “townies.” Professors think they’re better than everyone else, once they secure tenure and can study their obscure subjects to their heart’s content.

There is a huge disconnect between people like this chick, lgm and Americans who work “real” jobs to keep America moving. Colleges keep the sheeple indoctrinated.

Conn faces the same infestation of the libs as virtually 95% of US Colleges. As the parent of a recent graduate I can say that this is a quality college - and to throw out the baby with the bathwater as I see is done here is just stupid. There are many, many high caliber and non-biased professionals teaching at Conn - they are dedicated to teaching kids to think - not to swallow what they think. To condemn all based on the stupidity of some is not only unfair, but a losing proposition.
You are not going to stop the indoctrination until we get better teachers, but you can protect your children by teaching them to think for themselves and to look at all sides of an issue before deciding. They can be the leaders and teachers of the future.
I will be writing the president of the college to express my outrage at this teachers uneducated and biased remarks and I urge you to do the same - Pres. Leo Higdon lee.higdon@conncoll.edu. Our institutions need to understand when the line is crossed.

Chicago was home to Saul Alinsky.

Look at what was founded in Chicago…

Founded in Chicago in 1919, the Communist Party of the United States has an outstanding history in the struggles for peace, democratic rights, racial and gender equality, economic justice, union organization, and international solidarity. Our Party is organized on the principle of democratic centralism, combining maximum democratic discussion and decision-making with maximum unity of will and action, ensuring our ability to play a strong organizing role in the class struggle. We focus our efforts on increasing our ability to organize millions into struggle, fighting anti-communism as a divisive weapon of the capitalist class. With Marxism-Leninism guiding our actions, the Communist Party strives to build the broadest unity against global capitalist imperialism now headed by U.S. imperialism, for immediate gains and reforms that benefit working people, and for a progressive democratization of the government, the economy, and society of our country on the road to and after winning socialism.

With pride in our past and confidence in our future, we hereby establish this Constitution of the Communist Party of the United States America.

Did you know that International Workers’ Day (a name used interchangeably with the Communist May Day) is the commemoration of the Haymarket “Massacre” in Chicago in 1886?

Hmmm. Defending a racist now, are we? And invoking the image of Lincoln to do it? Lincoln was referring to the scourge of the Civil War. Wright, in addition to setting himself up in a nice mansion etc., is trying to foment further racial division rather than any sort of healing, put-it-all-behind-us action.
