Nancy Pelosi: Ignorant about natural gas
Nancy Pelosi’s mouth emits a lot of natural gas, but she has no idea about how the other kind is produced.

The day before the Democratic National Convention Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) went on Meet the Press and told Tom Brokaw:
I’m, I’m, I’m investing in something I believe in. I believe in natural gas as a clean, cheap alternative to fossil fuels. … These investments in wind, in solar and biofuels and focus on natural gas, these are the real alternatives.
As we pointed out at the time, natural gas is not an alternative to fossil fuels … it is a fossil fuel. And as the “Energy Kids Page” of the Energy Information Administration (EIA) explains, it is a fossil fuel that needs to be drilled for.
One would hope that Pelosi had studied up on the issue since then, but her comments after the House passed a bill codifying the ban on most of the Outer Continental Shelf shows she still does not. Pelosi told The Washington Post: “We’re not trying to give incentives to drill, we’re giving incentives to invest in renewables and natural gas that will take us where we need to go.”
Again, where does Pelosi think natural gas comes from? If the government is “giving incentives” to natural gas, it is giving incentives to drill. That is how we get natural gas.
Drill, baby, drill that into your head before you embarrass yourself again.

Wind is a natural fuel that we have been unable to properly utilize until now. They are opening the ability to drill 100 miles offshore because THAT IS WHERE THE WIND IS STORED.
The wind has been trapped under the seabed for the last 40,000 years after the oceans rose suddenly – trapping the wind. This coincided with man killing off all of the sabertooth tigers, giving him excessive spare time to create expressionist paintings in various European caves while laying bare Easter Island.
Thank goodness Pelosi understands the criticality and value of our stored wind resources. I only wish I had the capibility to drill for wind in my OWN backyard.

If she is such a big fan of natural gas why is she pushing the “no-drill” drilling HR 6899 bill which effectively legislates a permanent ban on offshore drilling? Who’s natural gas are we going to use? Oh, that’s right, hers and the other “9 percenters” in Congress. They spew out enough gas to fuel the entire world.
Correct me please, but doesn’t natural gas come from the same wells/areas that we drill for oil?

You are not wrong. Here in northwest NM we drill specifically for natural gas and sometimes accidentally hit oil.
Unless we start marching on congress demanding they explain their treasonous acts, yes, i believe this bill is an act of treason. Willingly placing the national security of this nation and the security of its citizens at the highest of risk to its enemies is tant amount to treason. We will be the most vulnerable we have ever been since the foundation of this country.
We need to march on washington, d.c., and let them know we will not allow this treason to continue. Let them know we cannot be fooled by this psuedo drilling bill. Becuase it will not produce what we need to remain a viable economic power nor a country of power and strength.

Her investment portfolio, and that of her family, would illustrate why she is promoting natural gas and wind energy. It is all about personal gain.
Any elected official who is in a position to direct energy, banking, and insurance policies, who are financially invested in those sectors, should recuse themselves.

Not to mention that natural gas is not a good choice for auto fuel. The best thing you could do with it if you want to use if for auto fuel is to make methanol with it, but since we have very few flex-fuel vehicles that can run on methanol, there’s no market for it.

So Nancy’s OK with he less polluting hydrocarbons. Natural gas still results in the release of CO2 and nitrogen oxides when burned. In addition, particulate matter, sulphur oxides and reactive hydrocarbons are emitted when burnt.

I keep hoping for her pilot to set the autopilot for the Rockies, jump with a parachute, and do something heroic for Americans.
I’m looking for investors interested in “green” power. I’m proposing a multi-phase energy recovery program based in Washington, D.C. Initially, we need to build a natural gas (Methane is natural.) pipeline to the Capitol Building and the Congressional Office Buildings to recover the gas generated there. Concomitant with that, we will retrofit a heat recovery system to the ventilation system to save the thermal energy from the hot air that is produced there. The expansion of the system will include the homes and local offices of Congresscritters and Senators and may include mobile recovery systems that can follow them on the campaign trail. Normally mobile recovery systems would be too expensive, but considering the amount of methane and hot air generated on the campaign trail, I believe it to be cost effective.

This is an amazing post with which I fully agree. The left IS a major threat in so many ways. Unfortunately, not many people are fully cognizant of the magnitude of the threat. Hence, we do nothing.

I think I understand Nanzi’s confusion – the word ‘natural’ in natural gas, (Oh look! There goes Bambi!). Let’s start a new campaign petitioning Nanzi to adopt measures to get more ‘natural oil’.
Actually…CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is a very good motor fuel for vehicles. It burns cleaner than gasoline but does have a lower “stored energy per unit volume” rate than gasoline.
CNG is attractive to fleet operators however (think city governments for police & city services). They can set up their own centrally located fueling station and fill up their tanks. The cost of CNG is about 75% that of gasoline. It ain’t that bad a deal really. Now why anyone would want methanol? It is used to make MTBE…a fuel additive that is carcinogenic and has been foisted upon us by the EPA, TreeHuggers-R-Us and the ilk of Clueless Nancy and her cohorts in the name of “saving the planet”. There was a fuel spill due to a truck wreck near one of Dallas’ drinking water supply lakes. It took millions of $$ and thousands of man-hours to contain the MTBE laden gasoline once it hit the ground and was running downhill towards the lake. Gasoline would simply float on the water and could be contained with booms. MTBE, since it is methanol based, fall out of the gasoline and goes into solution in the water…and then the fit hits the shan (Thanks Michelle, I usually said “then the defecant hits the rotary, oscillatory air moving device”)
How can anybody say that Pelosi does not know natural gas?

Let’s not forget what Pelosi is involved with. She is invested in CLNE, part of a triple play involving natural gas, a giant wind farm, and a water grab by T Boone Pickens.
I updated my information from the original article by digging deeper into the water grab in Texas and by detailing how Nancy Pelosi LIED to the media about her investments.
Pelosi is not trying to save the planet, she is protecting her investments in CLNE. If she was SERIOUS about saving the planet, as she says she is, she would be exposing the great water grab and not investing in a company that is indirectly connected with it.
I also want to say that T Boone Pickens is not the problem here, although the water grab thing is something he needs to address. The real issue is the hypocrisy and the conflict of interest of Nancy Pelosi.
I wouldn’t want to quibble with an engineer, but I’ve seen it argued elsewhere that one of the big problems with CNG is storage. The tank is pretty big and heavy and you can’t carry enough for long trips.
The more she and her cohorts screw the people …the more they will pay in November.
Natural Gas is good because it is “Natural”.
Crude Oil is bad because it is “Crude”.
Can we get a Marketing firm to help us introduce “Organic Oil” or “Mother Nature’s Oil”?

The City of Mesquite has been CNG powered for a number of years.
CNG…by yielding only about 1/3 the “bang per unit volume of gasoline” can’t really be a long drive solution.
Ethanol has the same problem. Not nearly so much bang per gallon…and worse mileage too.
Gasoline is truly amazing in the amount of stored energy that it contains.
Nancy is heavily invested in the T Boone Pickens NG/windmill scheme.
The only way to make money on it is to get the federal gov to subsidize it heavily.

We Tennesseans made a serious error in electing Corker. Unforetunately, there is no recall provision in TN law.
