Sarah Palin’s private e-mail hacked, family photos raided; cesspool blog gloats; feds investigate

Scroll for updates…Wired News confirms…McCain camp responds: “This is a shocking invasion of the Governor’s privacy and a violation of law. The matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these emails will destroy them. We will have no further comment”…the feds are investigating

Sometime early this morning, between approximately 3:00am - 4:00am, members of an infamous group of hackers broke into Gov. Sarah Palin’s private Yahoo e-mail account. The incriminating discussion threads included screenshots of Palin’s e-mail and private e-mail addresses of her contacts. The threads have since been deleted. (More details here.)

Hacking e-mail is a federal crime. A TV anchor who broke into his colleague’s e-mail account recently pleaded guilty and faces a maximum five years in prison.

The law will catch up to the hackers, but what about the lowlifes who are now gleefully splashing the alleged contents of Palin’s private e-mail account all over the Internet?

The Gawker smear machine — see here for all the background you need — has posted private family photos of Palin’s children that were apparently stolen from the e-mail account.

They have used Bristol Palin’s illegally obtained private cell phone number from her mom’s private account, recorded her voicemail message, and posted it on their website.

They have reprinted her husband Todd’s private e-mail address and son Track’s private e-mail address.

You think this is just a harmless prank? Those of you who have had to deal with break-ins and identity theft know exactly what a burdensome process it is to recover from crimes like this.

Gawker knowingly and deliberately published illegally obtained photos of the Palin children.

Where are the privacy absolutists now?

You think Palin Derangement Syndrome is bad now? These by-any-means-necessary lunatics are just warming up.

Let me repeat what I said about Nick Denton and his slime businesses in 2006. It’s every bit as relevant now. And I expect the same cowards who said nothing then to remain silent about the violations of the Palin family’s privacy now:

There is a time to be tolerant and there is a time to draw lines. If you don’t draw those lines, bullies will be emboldened. The smug Gawker smear machine is all about pushing those boundaries with the expectation that no one will push back. They project their own cynicism, recklessness with facts, intellectual laziness, and bad faith on everyone else.

But outside of Manhattan and Los Angeles, not all of us think blogging is a for-profit enterprise founded solely to tear people down with gossip, rumor-mongering, and damaging lies disguised as “satire.” Funny how some of the loudest voices decrying the lack of civility in the blogosphere are the biggest promoters of the bottom-feeders and debasers at Gawker Media.

Bastards. Bastards all.

Update: Wired News confirms one of the messages…

Vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s private Yahoo e-mail account was hacked, and some of its contents posted on the internet Wednesday.

The internet griefers known as Anonymous took credit for the intrusion, and screenshots of e-mail messages and photos belonging to the Alaska governor have been published by WikiLeaks. Threat Level has confirmed the authenticity of at least one of the e-mails.

The cache of stolen data contains five screenshots from Palin’s account, including the text of an e-mail exchange with Alaska Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell about his campaign for Congress.

Another screenshot shows Palin’s inbox and a third shows the text of an e-mail from Amy McCorkell, whom Palin appointed to the Governor’s Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in 2007.

The e-mail, a message of support to Palin, tells her not to let negative press get to her and asks Palin to pray for McCorkell, who writes that “I need strength to 1. keep employment, 2. not have to choose.”

The Republican Party hasn’t responded to a call for comment, but McCorkell, reached at her office, confirmed that she did send the e-mail to Palin.

Update: The feds are investigating…

John McCain’s campaign said Wednesday it has contacted “appropriate authorities” over a report that Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin’s personal e-mail had been hacked.

“This is a shocking invasion of the Governor’s privacy and a violation of law,” campaign manager Rick Davis said in a statement. “The matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these emails will destroy them. We will have no further comment.”

The statement came hours after a user on the Web site WikiLeaks said he had gained access to Palin’s Yahoo e-mail account and gained access. Screenshots of the e-mail messages and photos of the Alaska governor’s family were published on that Web site and later on gossip Web site gawker.com.

FBI Spokesman Eric Gonzalez in Anchorage, Alaska confirms to CNN an investigation is underway.

FYI: Alaska has very strong privacy laws.

Just a hunch about these reprobates. It is going to cost them DEARLY.

The question we need to keep on asking on the Emailgate break-in is the same one Rather posed in 1973:

“What did the Obama campaign know about it and when did they know it?”

Just as Watergate was followed up from some 3rd-rate burglary suspects all the way to the top, the DOJ needs to go up the foodchain on this crime.

And conservative blogs, pundits, talk radio and politicians need to push this so the MSM cannot ignore it and is forced to report on it.

Obama is up in Gallup and CBS polls for the first time since the Republican convention. They are surging and we have peaked.

    Don’t believe it!

Obama’s minute gain - and boy, is it ever a minute gain - is only a bleep resulting from yesterday’s overwhelming financial news. The respondents to that poll were just preoccupied with one dire MSM report after another on the economy, and were grasping for straws.

Believe me, it’s Obama who has peaked and will never again have a significant lead over President McCain in the polls once the debates start and the two men can be measured in side-by-side comparison.

At that point Obama will be but a reminder of the near-miss with disaster our country had when we allowed ourselves to be misled by MSM hype and the pretty words of a vain politician.

Correct. In fact, every site “knows” which OS - and other info - a person is using; Windows, Mac, Linux, whatever. For example, here’s who’s-using-what to browse this site:

    Michelle Malkin - Sitemeter stats

A page can be scripted to download a virus appropiate for the type of OS visiting it.

It’s also correct that since most people use it, Windows/IE is a bigger target.

I suspect that it would be rather hard for an Obamarrhoid to shoot straight while simultaneously wetting his dainties. If there is any notable number of armed leftist radicals who will commit to widespread, long-term violence, then I think they will be well outnumbered by ordinary American citizens, usually caricatured as gun-loving morons, who will be capable of quenching the threat expeditiously. When it comes to ordinary citizens (many even registered as Democrats) having to defend themselves, their neighbors, and their way of life, they won’t hesitate to remove the threat.

Moron. A subpoena can and usually does cover multiple addresses - the language usually reads something like “any and all electronic communications pertaining to”…

In addition, States, much like most corporations, have strict policies against using government or company facilities for personal matters. In a corporation, it is grounds for termination. With government, it is grounds at least for an ethics violation and often times dismissal.

To avoid even the appearance of abuse, most government and corproate officials use both business and personal e-mail accounts. And if there is any question as to whether it is an official or personal matter, prudence dictates it be treated as a personal matter. Better to error on the side of personal business than to inadvertently violate written policy or regulation.

Pretty shocking that the left is spinning away on this. It is such a non issue that it makes them look even more deranged than usual.

Of course gone are the days when a person would make a rumor in the paper about a Vice Presidential or Presidential candidate and, even though they had printed an apology, said person would be found floating in a river or canal several days later…and in my mind, after this last offense, all I can say is, “That’s a real shame.”

Poor little B. Hussein Obama. He has the truth about who and what he is, told and he cries foul and screams, “Enough is enough” in between sobs and around his thumb that he is mercilessly sucking raw. Yet he and only he is responsible for all these things in the same way that President Bush was being held responsible for “Swiftboating” the traitor Kerry four years ago.

It is his supporters that are carrying these heinous acts out.

They are doing it in his name and with the express intention of throwing this election and getting a Socialist Liberal with Islamic roots and background during a war against said fundamentalists from that religion a mere 7 years after we were attacked in their name.

They are carrying out these illegal and cruel attacks in his name…he who is an admitted drug user to the point where he was, to paraphrase his own words, close enough to being lost forever in a world of cocaine, pot and God knows what all else.

They are carrying them out in the name of a man who spent 20 years following in and believing in a church and religious belief system that is on par with the same false Christian sect that is encouraged and followed and endorsed by members of the Ku Klux Klan.

He who has allegedly carried out an act of such treason as to conduct closed door talks with the leaders of a country where our troops are deployed, fighting a war against Islamic Terrorism so that said government would delay anything that would end said war prior to the election for President that he is running in so that his opponents party would not be credited for ending said war, thus giving him potential votes, swaying an election.

Him that has done so many shady hings in his past that he refuses to even allow anyone access to his own birth certificate due to the possibility that it may contain proof that he is not even an American citizen, thus not being legitimately allowed to even run for that office…

He who has remained silent time after time as the MSM continues these attacks against his opponent’s running mate and her family, not doing anything to cease these attacks, but instead have all his cronies and handlers out there on the Sunday Programs, in the papers, on the radio, propagating their own versions of the same slander and libel.

His silence, on top of his very own statements makes him culpable for this act. At this point, the entire Democrat party is responsible for it, for they and their support groups have been carrying out a systematic attack on all those who think and believe differently than them in an incredibly thug like manner for over 8 years now. It is not only not condemned, but in many cases actually condoned.

Even the AP has refused to give up their papers that they have on this event, thus allowing treasonous and seditious criminals to get away with hacking into a Vice Presidential candidate’s personal information, pictures of their children, personal e-mails and God knows what else.

I hold Barack Hussein Obama, Howard Dean, Nanci Pelosi, Harry Reid the DNC, and every single Democrat and Liberal personally responsible for this and every other act that has been done to GOVERNOR Sarah Palin and her family, some no more than a few months old.

“In many ways the Palin email hack of her Yahoo account reminds voters of the Watergate break in of 1972. A generation ago, a very suspicious presidential candidate ordered his men to break into George McGovern’s campaign headquarters in Washington DC. The episode was emblematic of an administration known for dirty tricks politics as usual.

In those days they did not have electronic mail but they did have private correspondence on paper. Richard Nixon won election but was impeached for felonies related to the Watergate hack within a year. What is now known as Icegate in 2008 is eerily reminiscent to Watergate in 1972.”

What happened to Sarah Palin was a blatant disrespect to her privacy. I notice that the person who wants to get in people’s faces who disagree with him, Obummer, hasn’t said a damn thing about this. I wonder if one of Obummer’s thugs is responsible for this?

Both my husband and I have been victims of identity theft and it’s the most helpless feeling in the world. I hate to “shoehorn” my identity into a thread again, but military members and their dependents/families are very vulnerable to such privacy intrusions. Every time you move, you give strangers access to your most private information.

The federal government needs to crack down hard on these hackers. I don’t care who they are but they have no right to hack into Sarah Palin’s private email and anyone, including Dems, who defends the practice, really shows their disregard for the rule of law.

The only person who tolerates such indignities this campaign season is Obummer. He will do anything to win including rigging votes. Such is what the Dem Party has become.

Tom, nice sentiment, but why bother? Chuck Schumer’s staffers who used Michael Steele’s SS# to perform identity fraud and obtain his credit report got squat for what they did. Katie Barge did not even get charged and Lauren Weiner got 150 hours of community service and had her record expunged. The judicial system just doesn’t care. I think Chuck Schumer said at the time,” Michael Steele is just being a big baby about it. If he has nothing to hide, then why shouldn’t we all be able to read his credit report?”.

And what has been B. Hussein’s response to this? What has he personally had to say about it? I can barely hear anything else over the oppressive silence from him, his campaign the DNC…

To doubt that his campaign is not rejoicing in this, that they did not rifle through each and every piece of electronic property that was stolen, is to not have a brain cell in your head, let alone to not understand how this game is played.

No one is saying how even after she has once again been violated by Liberals and the Left in general that they STILL have nothing on her, that she is STILL without anything they can use against her. No, it is all more red herrings about how she may or may not have been using personal e-mail to conduct government business.

There is no law that states Government employees are forbidden from having personal e-mail accounts. When someone has one, there will be discussions about work related items with people you know. I had both a personal account and one at work, and used them both. While there were things you were prohibited from sending or talking about on the work related address, you do not have similar restrictions on the personal ones.

Considering ALL the documentation from B. Hussein that, to this day, he refuses to allow to be seen…including his birth certificate and other items that are normally released about a candidate, it is completely and totally dishonest for ANYONE in the DNC or on the Left to demand that ANYTHING MORE be released about either McCain or Palin.

Again, the fact the the lowlife trolls on this site and the DNC in general has been silent concerning this event and the treatment of Governor Palin in general should give more insight into who and what they are than a thousand internet hacks into their personal lives.

Is this what they mean by change? Or is this what B. Hussein is referring to when he is telling his followers to “get in their faces” and that he is going to have a tougher stance.

He is now talking about how his background in dirty, mean, scumwad Chicago Politics is going to be used. This is their messiah? this is the scumwad that they wish to have as President?

the choice between an American hero and a Chicago thug.

There is no redemption for those that would ally with thugs and scumbags.

And of course, from ABCNews.com (aka, hit job online pub for Obama) has to somehow add this to their email story:

As we covered yesterday, Palin has used her private e-mail account to conduct official business and, like members of the Bush administration before her, has attempted to use this as a way to avoid the very transparency she pledged would mark her gubernatorial term.

So abc is as corrupt as nbc now. They put out this hit piece without checking to see if it is true. Last I heard, there was no evidence that she used her personal account for offical business. And, if there were some official e-mails in there, why would they make the leap that she did it covertly to avoid transparency? What a bunch of dishonest jerks. It is so obvious they printed that to smear Gov. Palin. They continue to get away with these kinds of slanders. I know one thing, I will never trust another thing the mainstream media tries to pedal. They are toast. Perhaps the alphabet stations will be the next to go bankrupt.

However, as has been noted, there is no proof that she did that. If anything this proves that this e-mail account was for anything but that. Even the hacker said it was clean.

Therefore this is still nothing but the same libel that she has been forced to endure for a month now.

They need to be sued for that. Everyone who does this should be forced to pay with jail time or money.

    Maybe then they will learn.
