Rangel tangle: Corruptocrat fights for his life

By Michelle Malkin  •  September 18, 2008 04:17 PM

The Hill’s Chris Good reports that the House will move forward with an investigation of Democrat Rep. Charlie Rangel’s personal finances. Hmmm:

The House ethics committee will likely investigate Rep. Charles Rangel’s (D-N.Y.) personal finances, as committee chairman Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) today announced he would advise the panel to do so, honoring Rangel’s own request for a review.

“It is my intent to recommend to Ranking Member Hastings and the Committee that we honor Chairman Rangel’s request. We have a Standards Committee meeting posted for Wednesday, September 24,” Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) said in a statement today.

Rangel plans to hire a forensic accountant to examine his personal finances, the New York Democrat announced this week as he faced mounting criticism over several financial scandals that have dogged him this summer. The accountant will turn findings over to the committee for investigation, Rangel said.

Sure looks like a fox and henhouse set-up to me.

Meantime, he’s also up to his eyeballs in probes over his “failure to pay taxes on rental income from a Dominican Republic villa, earmarks for a community college center bearing his name, and his four rent-controlled apartments in New York City.”

Lawhawk notes that the House voted today to cover Rangel’s backside and table a motion forcing him to step down. (Roll call vote here.)

Guess his House colleagues agree with his assessment: “I personally feel I have done nothing morally wrong.”

***

House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement today after Republican Leader John Boehner (Ohio) brought forth a resolution to establish a subcommittee to investigate the numerous charges against House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D–N.Y.), and remove him as Chairman pending completion of the investigation:

“The serious and increasingly numerous charges surrounding Chairman Rangel threaten to compromise the ability of his committee to provide the oversight and direction our country desperately needs and our constituents rightfully deserve. Democrats convened this Congress with a pledge to ‘lead the most ethical Congress in history.’ If there was ever a time and occasion to make good on that pledge, it would be now. Based on today’s vote, the question is will that time ever come.”

Add this to the Dem’s bilking of the unqualified-for-mortgage racket, and perhaps it’s time to break out the old Culture of Corruption refrain to throw back on the Corrupticrats! They’ve had 2 years to clean up Washington (per their campaign promises), and they’ve driven the economy into the dirt! ; )

With all the democrap corruption, plus their blocking any drilling, which in turn keeps us dependent on foreign oil, denies us hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and threatens our national security…How can any democrats stay in power, and how can any one vote for a democrat? It makes no sense. Is this mass hypnosis? These are the most corrupt people we have ever had in government and we can’t do anything about removing them? Can we file lawsuits or something? Any ideas?

Aren’t FBI agents mostly accountants or lawyers, maybe we ought to let them sort this out for poor old charlie

If he was white there would be nothing wrong with what he’s did.

happyscrapper as long as you have a crooked MSM who thinks nothing about lying every chance they get you’ll have this problem.

We need political type ad’s that say:
Hi. I’m an American Citizen and I’m tired of the MSM press lying all the time. The Truth is that Most of the Democratic politicians are crooks and the press covers for them so that makes them just as guilty. So stop buying goods that they advertise.

    YES

Trouble is the ones who keep voting for these shleps ARE stupid. Dems don’t care if their people are corrupt. They actually like them that way.

The best part is he just canceled his divorce proceedings against his wife.

I guarantee its because a wife can’t testify against her husband, but a former wife can.

Every time I see him, “oily” is the word that comes to mind.

Watched CSI or “Bones”? The reason Rangell has to hire a forensic account is that his tax situation is a rotting, putrid, maggot-infested corpse, oozing not just nasty fluids, but scandal and potential criminal liability.

That’s also why he’s hired Lanny “Ducky” Davis.

    Republican AD idea:

Nancy Pelosi is at the podium, promising, “If you elect us, we will run the most ethical Congress ever.”
    Freeze frame.

Overlay: “The Most Ethical Congress Ever..?

[Narrator lists all of the Dems who are under investigation and for what, which Dems have indictments against them, and which Dems have been convicted during the past two years.]

Cut to: Pelosi, with the words, “Freddy Mac” and “Fannie Mae” above her head]

Pelosi: We had nothing to do with that.”

    Narrator: Really, Nancy..?

[Show pictures of all Dems involved in preventing the reform of these programs. Below them it says, “Voted to stop the reform of these programs five years ago.”

Narrator: The most ethical Congress ever? Not by a long shot. But definitely, the most unpopular…

    Moses, smell the roses:

Rangel’s district, the smallest in the country in geographic size, encompasses Upper Manhattan and includes such neighborhoods as Harlem, Spanish Harlem, Washington Heights, Inwood, and part of the Upper West Side, as well as a small portion of Queens in the neighborhood of Astoria.

Rangel’s criminal activity only elevates his status in that district.

Everyone’s there knows that he’s bein’ persemecuted by da’ man.
