Barack Better Not Be Banning Biden’s Beretta!
Hmm…See-Dub back out of retirement for a second, writing one of those very rare posts about rutabagas I mentioned in my valedictory post. But first, I have a problem.
THE PROBLEM: Retired guest-blogger does not wish to comment on current political affairs, but is sorely tempted to do so when VP candidate shoots his mouth off on issue near and dear to blogger’s heart.
THE OTHER PROBLEM: The other day I talked to an old friend in California–moderate Republican type–who mentioned that he might be voting Obama. Palin scared him because she wanted to “ban books”. Took me and Mrs. See-dub a while to set him straight.
As Ace points out, an e-mail campaign that details Obama’s radical roots and his attempts to hide them might be useful. The legacy media certainly isn’t interested in exposing the truth about him or deflating his smears. Someone else would have to do it.
Especially on the gun issue.
Look–here’s what happens when you make a Democratic candidate go on the defensive about the Second Amendment:

That’s a guy who has personally shot and killed Viet Cong Communist insurgents looking all silly like that. I doubt Obama has ever shot a gun in his life. He’s going to go to a duck blind or a sporting clays range to demonstrate his “support” for the Second Amendment and…to start with, they won’t even be able to find any hearing protectors to fit him. It’ll all get better from there.
(I mean, Sweet Fancy Moses, the guy can’t even bowl.)
As a disinterested political analyst, and not as any sort of partisan commentator or anything, I might just point out that Obama is dreadfully weak on the gun issue and McCain can win this thing in a walk if he’s able to turn the debate to Obama’s real record and how it matches up with his
“pro-sportsman” rhetoric.
But as a disinterested political analyst I can’t really go through and churn out a post that details Obama’s gun record, one suitable for e-mailing to everyone you know.
THE SOLUTION: RightWingSparkle has already put it all together for me!
So I can get back to blogging about rutabagas. Whew.
P.S. I was looking for the “Joe Biden” category for this post, and I realized Michelle doesn’t even have one. Which says all you need to know about Biden.
If I were still blogging, I’d put a big ol’ screencap of Chevy Chase on every new Biden-gaffe post. Of which I anticipate several.
Or maybe a different celebrity…

sandyb – I don’t know. Hillary must really be having a cow… she thought she could sandbag b. Hussein and run against the R VP in 2012, but low and behold McCain got Palin! I doubt she wants to run against her. She might be rethinking VP now.

That was a pretty weak smear to begin with but perhaps he thinks its OK for the obama-crats to pressure VA into voter fraud. Sounds like a closet obama-crat looking for an excuse. Can’t imagine using that for an excuse to vote Socialist.
Even if it were true, it would still be easier to stop a book-banning individual than to find reverse on the political shifter once the country is headed down the road to Socialism with a Marxist the wheel.
If Obambi isn’t ahead by at least 10 points in the polls late October Biden is toast. He will take a dive. Hillary will be offered an expanded role as VP and she will step in to save the country from McCain/Palin. And Bill will get Sec. to U.N. with Sec. General after that. And the liberal world will live happily ever after.

Don’t underestimate the amount of lies that are being propigated via email, nor the gullibility of people who believe them.
RedPill, I don’t. Lies, directed toward naive and gullible people, is the only way they have a chance to be elected. Of course, that’s nothing new anyway. That’s been going on since we had elections in this country. Now that we have 24 hour TV coverage and the internet, it makes it much easier to spread them. There are many people who think that we have a 1 person government, assisted by a congress, and the VP has a tremendous amount of power. I have seen it here on this site. If they would, just once, put down the TV remote and pick up a good book on the making of the Constitution, their eyes might be opened. I, too, was once a naive gullible person, but the love of American history saved me. My wife, too, an asian national, knows more about history and the workings of government than most American citizens. As long as we have people who believe we live in a sort of government with an all-powerful President, the liberals will be elected.

‘Can’t even bowl’ = purposely doing badly because bowling is just for whites. You have to work to score as low as Obama.
Consider if Obama had bowled a decent score. People may have started to think he might have had a white mother and was raised by her parents. And then he went to three colleges and even got degrees from some of them. Then if you heard he’s a lawyer from Harvard you might even think he’s got a silver spoon in his mouth. Or even that he’s half white. Maybe he’s whole white.

Early Voting

Early voting has already started in some states…
Early voting has already started in Virginia (started last week) and starts in several other states this week. This is a major advantage for Obama.
Having said that, I can see this preposterously early voting benefiting Obama. For one thing, he gets to start locking in votes while the financial crisis is topic A and has voters fleeing the GOP. Second, he gets to lock in votes before a possible October surprise–whether it’s a national security crisis ginned up by the White House or some below-the-belt ad from McCain (probably Wright or Ayers related). Third, mechanical changes like this tend to favor the better-organized campaign, since they’re in a better position to exploit any new opportunities. That’s almost certainly the Obama campaign in this case. I’d guess Obama will do a better job identifying potential early voters and getting them to the polls,* which, given the extremely long early-voting window, could result in a significant advantage.
Remember the early voting advantage Hillary had during the primaries? She was the favorite for so long that many people voted early for her. Then, when they changed their minds and switched to Obama, it was too late to change their vote. We could see a bit of that here as well. The more people that vote early, the smaller the opportunity for McCain to make up ground gets. Make no mistake about it, the White House WILL create some sort of foreign policy issue in October to try and give McCain a boost, and McCain will play the Rev. Wright card eventually.

The MSM is digging into every nook and cranny of Palin. But they won’t even mention the NY Times articles from Jan. 23, 1982 and Jan 24, 1982 in which Joe Biden was shrieking at and berating the Prime Minister of Israel. In the articles, there is a mention of a fellow Democrat, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, being so sickened by Biden’s bullying tactics that Moynihan congratulated Begin for not putting up with Biden’s bad behavior. Wonder when Brian Williams will ask Biden about this sordid episode?
