What’s on your minds?

A few random Saturday links for you:

Here’s a picture worth a thousand “Uhs.” (Try Wordle with any Obama transcript. You’ll get the same picture.)

Via Lucianne’s Must-Reads: “The Drumbeat.”

Meryl Yourish reports: Democrats threaten to kneecap Jewish nonprofits.

Via HA Headlines, the latest Palin derision: “SnowJob Squareglasses.”

Via the Smoking Gun: Your in-your-face Hope-and-Change thug of the day.

Gag: Obama sings “I’m Every Woman” to praise his wife.

MKH: Tap the Rockies.

Charlie Rangel is an ass.

And an unhinged photog update: Jill Greenberg has reportedly been fired by her agency. I don’t think we’ve seen the last of her, though…

There’s an interesting article on the NY Times website about science and math teachers from India teaching in Bridgeport, Conn.

You might need to log in for it, so here are a couple of quotes.

“I was told about discipline issues in my early orientation, but the intensity of the problem was very high,” Ms. Tallur said. “At first I got angry and frustrated. I tried to diagnose the problem and understand the children’s needs. I saw they needed guidance, love and affection. Now I touch them when I talk to them. I kid with them, but I also enforce my rules.”…Ms. Tallur said that the number of disciplinary infractions in her classroom decreased considerably by the end of the year. “Now when someone is not behaving, I take out my cellphone and start to call their parents,” she said. “I learned this trick from one of my colleagues.” ”

    and,

“School officials say they have benefited from the visiting teachers in other ways.

“These teachers have reminded me that we have to maintain high expectations for all our students,” said Ronald P. Remy, the principal of Bassick High School.”

    You think?

Let’s see, high expectations and parental involvement….

I guess I would say get your antacids ready because for all of McCain’s good intentions (irony?) he may still steal victory from the jaws of defeat.

Honestly, I do not understand why anyone in their right mind would want to be President of the United States. I couldn’t even imagine being under that kind of pressure where every word you say will be analyzed and scrutinized over and over again!

I have election fatigue and frustration that people can not see through the house of smoke-and-mirrors that is the Obama campaign.

It occurred to me that Obama, not McCain, is the “WAR” candidate.

Obama has opened several fronts in the domestic wars. We have:

    1. Race Wars. (since the Repub’s refused to engage, Obama is stoking the fires of this one on his own, with the help of the MSM).

    2. Gender Wars (sorry, I can’t, and won’t, get over the outrageous misogyny that was the engine of the Obama campaign in the primaries. Now the attacks on Palin).

    3. Class Wars (remember, paying taxes is “patriotic” …and only the “rich” will pay. Nice.)

    4. Culture Wars (ie: conservatives are “rednecks” and “Wal-Mart” vs. the dems who view themselves as the “Enlightened Elite”).

    5. Religious Wars (the religion of secularism and black liberation theology vs. mainstream Christian values).

Now via Instapundit, we can see that it is Obama who will be the War hawk…as an expression of his belief in intervention, not for issues of national security and interests, but a way of “fixing” a multitude of perceived wrongs. Just like Fannie/Freddie were used to “fix” the perceived “injustices” of lending. The fact that Albright is now out there on the hustings for Obama should send off alarm bells to any reasonable person.
After all, it was Albright was famously pushed Clinton into committing our troops to Kosovo..

Sorry for the long post, but…..

Sad but unless “We the People” make a huge adjustment immediately, we won’t survive as the great country that an awful lot of us love.

This 9/11/03 NY Times business article is direct proof that the Bush Administration tried to overhaul Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the entire housing finance industry, as early as September of 2003, against the protestations by Congressional Democrats and other special interest groups:

[From paragraph 1] The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.

Details throughout this NY Times article remind the reader that Congressional Democrats repeatedly opposed the Bush Administration’s 2003 regulatory proposals for Fannie and Freddie as “unfair to lower income borrowers:”

[From paragraph 13] At the time, the companies and their allies (Democrats) beat back efforts for tougher oversight by the Treasury Department, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or the Federal Reserve. Supporters of the companies said efforts to regulate the lenders tightly under those agencies might diminish their ability to finance loans for lower-income families.

[From paragraph 22] Among the groups denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing.

If the NY Times published this on the day that Bush Administration officials testified before Congress and urged more regulation for Fannie and Freddie, then other news sources must have reported this as well.

I have personally seen Barney Frank take to C-Span this week and exclaim that the current mortgage and financial industry meltdown is squarely the fault of the Bush Administration, and that the Bush Administration ignored his calls and proposals for industry overhaul and regulation.

This NY Times article, including a direct quote by Barney Frank himself, puts his and other Democrats’ current untruthful and misleading statements to rest:

[From paragraph 23] “These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. “The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”

Please remember this NY Times article the next time you flip on the evening news and hear Democrat pundits screaming that this mortgage lending debacle is solely the fault of George Bush, John McCain, Republicans in general, and the now exposed lie that Republicans “refused to regulate the mortgage lending industry.”

I noticed on one of the other blog topics yesterday that everyone is still noticing more Kerry/Gore stickers than Obama. That’s still so true except that in the last week or so more Change/Obama stickers are finally showing up. Still…. who leaves an 8 yr old sticker on their car besides aging hippies? (But then it could be like meth cookers who put ‘I support the Police’ on their vehicles too)

After swearing to never vote for McCain mainly because of the immigration issue we’ve decide to go that way. Actually our votes are going to matter this time also because we have a close race here in Indiana if the polls are to be believed. Being conservative democrats supporting McCain-Palin I can tell everyone there’s quite a few of us voting for this ticket.

We love governor Palin. To use the oft spoken of phrase she seems like one of us. It has been very sad to see the hateful and inaccurate reporting and commentary on the governor these past few weeks which in my opinion has been used by the media to drive down her favorability numbers with some evidence it’s working.

We supported Bill Clinton twice and all of our family and friends voted for Clinton in the primary but what has amazed me is the absolute hatred leveled at governor Palin I mean they really do hate her and the media’s total support for the Messiah is really something to behold.

I fail to see how the inexperienced argument can be leveled at Palin but not Obama. This man aside form being inexperienced has the most questionable judgement of any of the four candidates. Wright,Ayers,Phleger talk about a group of radicals but he gets a pass on it from the media.

We ordered a yard sign over a week ago McCain-Palin, still waiting. Polls not looking good right now but we have three debates and a VP debate. I suspect the moderators to be hostile towards McCain-Palin.

Does anyone believe McCain-Palin have a actual shot at winning this thing or are we just kidding ourselves? I mean this ticket is at a big disadvantage having to run against a economic downturn, and the whole mainstream media aparatus.

I also want to know when the press is going to put “scrappy Joe from Scanton” under the microscope. You can’t tell me this guy’s been in the senate for 35yrs and no questionable dealings or issues!

Obama’s bump may be a farce; obviously tied to the unprecedented government actions to save Wall Street. If the market cools, Obama’s numbers may cool.

    No question about it.

Soros’ 2008 book, The New Paradigm for Financial Markets, describes a “superbubble” that has built up over the past 25 years and is now ready to collapse. This is the third in a series of books he’s written that have predicted disaster. He said:

I have a record of crying wolf… I did it first in The Alchemy of Finance (in 1987), then in The Crisis of Global Capitalism (in 1998) and now in this book. So it’s three books predicting disaster. (After) the boy cried wolf three times . . . the wolf really came.

Soros has wanted to be right each time. Now he has finally accumulated enough power to actually make it happen.

It’s all part of the bigger picture.

GK, re: “McCain is 2 points behind and his wheels are coming off?”

Well now, if the MSM says that 30% + of democrats & independents are racists & lgm says 100% of republicans are too than Obama wins what? 3 states??? Gotta wonder about about liberal math :)

I’m trying to work… But, was drawn to all your comments. Some enlightening, some more of the preaching to the choir, and some really random… But, Fun!

Today, I am proud of my boys… Both very goal oriented, well respected almost 19 year olds. Did I mention they are twins. Different as night and day. Their out there doing it! I’m amazed, but not surprised, at all the opportunities they each have. They both have worked hard, opportunities are abundant for each… The hard part is choosing.

One is an EMT, with long range aspirations of being a firefighter/medic. He works 36+ hours a week with 15 units. He’s got a great heart. The other, taking a year off of college, to perform his duties as a State FFA officer, serving our fine state!

I’m almost an empty nester, except for their 8 year-old sister. She is a blessing from God. Actually, they all three are. We homeschool and we love it. She is so fortunate to have the examples she has in her brothers. The world is hers/theirs to have. This country is great!

There! Those are my random thoughts for the day!

LGM: On Thursday, McCain said that if he were President he would fire the head of the SEC. The problem is, the President does not have that authority. What good is all that experience in Washington if McCain didn’t actually learn anything?

Actually the Prez. does have the right to fire the head of the SEC if he wanted to, idiot. you must think we are Obamamites stupid up in here.

Obama made calls to Raines re: the economy and housing issues. Obama picked Jim Johson to be on his VP vetting committee. Obama fought regulating Fanne and Fredde two years ago b/c they were lining his pockets. Obama is dropping in the polls with college grads, women, independents, and even african americans. Obama actually lamented the loss of rear projection tv’s in a Corning plant. Obama is down 8pts in Macomb county in MI and is losing Oakland County in MI. He is tied in PA, slipping in MN and MI. Don’t be disheartened by the daily Gallop poll, Obama’s support is over stated he will lose in Nov.
